Found cache but a bit wet. Have dried it as much as possible and replaced. Awesome murals! Pity the Blue Lake is on private property now as I would lived to have seen it.

07-Mar-23
I never did see the lake, if it even exists, but the cache showed its face. TFTC.

In Nelson for some relative's birthdays. Working remotely most of the week, but took today off to cache. My eldest grandson and I went for a drive to Takaka and back (from Stoke) to grab a few challenges, do some walks, and top up my 1.5/1.5 find numbers. 38 caches all up including 5 labs. Cache easily found. TFTC

On our way to Pohara for the long weekend & we grabbed a few caches on the way.

Cool location & I've never seen the artwork here. Someone is super talented!

A few caches for RG72 and I today on the way out to Pohara, which is where we are spending the long weekend.

A nice location for a cache. Quickly found, I added some RITR paper as the previous log was damp. No issues here, enjoyed the artwork. TFTC B&W.

This was our last cache before heading back into town for lunch. The noticeboards are really informative and we enjoyed snooping over the fence to get a view of the lake and general surrounds. We're really enjoying caches like these that fill in some of the history that isn't brought forward in many of the local summaries. Thanks b&w for another cache.

22-May-21
A quick find with SJT_NZ while on a two day jolly in the area, lots of diverse seedlings in the area, thanks b&w for the cache.

16-Oct-20
#8535. This was my last cache of the day after visiting Farewell Spit earlier in the day. I was staying with friends in Takaka and this cache was on the road to their house. So stopped here to look for the cache. It was quickly found in the first place checked. All good. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks bumandworker for hiding it here.

25-Aug-20
Took a litle bit of searching. The place to sit threw me off a bit as it seems to have disappeared!! Thanks

Found as we explored more of Golden Bay. A great day for it, fairly quiet on the roads and on the walks.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Found with NZDi. We are on a five day holiday with our son, daughter-in-law, and three granddaughters. I have been under strict instructions from NZDi that this is a 'family' holiday, not a geocaching holiday.

Today we went into Takaka for the granddaughters to play on the neat playground at the Memorial Park. Afterwards we had lunch at one of the local cafes then went home. After four days of holidays the girls were all tired so they were given some quiet time in the afternoon, this gave the grandparents a chance to go geocaching.

This was our third find of the day after logging a DNF (or more accurately a DNL (Did Not Look) at a cache that appeared to be located on residential private property in a nearby newish sub-division. This one was a QEF PnG, but unlike other caches that we had found where previous loggers had said the log was soggy but the summer had dried it out, thids was not the case and the log was soaked. Fortunately I have managed to find my cache repair kit in the multitude of boxs that needed to be unpacked after my recent house shift, so put in a new RitR log in a ziplock bag. I left the originol log in place in case the CO wants to do an audit one day.

Thanks for bringing us here! Cool murals. tftc and a quick find.

06-Apr-18
We have our share or murals back in Nelson, for sure, but this is one I could not tire of looking at. A nice back-story told on the info panel too.

A shame the Blue Lake is off-limits, but probably a little too dusky now to do it justice.

05-Jun-17
Its a long weekend so The Seagnoid, Zara and I are off for an adventure to Golden Bay. The Seagnoid is navigator and Zara and I pair up getting us from A to B?? Its Monday and there is a chilly wind around. Must be cold The Seagnoid is wearing a hat.
No sight of blue lake but I love the art work here and the little info plaque. Snagged and tagged with no GPS assistant here. Bugger - the container disintergrated in my fingers - so a repacement was in order. Cheers

05-Jun-17
Taybeedragon, Zara and I are on a three day tour of eastern Golden Bay, courtesy of her Mjesty, the Queen. Happy birthday, Liz!

I was still admiring the mural, hadn't got out the GPS yet, when the dragon reported sh had found it. She said she put her finger though it, so i am guessing the cache has suffered from UV degradation. Anyway, we put in a new container.

06-May-17
Nice mural.Pretty lake.

We have passed by here often, but never stopped to enjoy the murals on the building - they really are very good.. The cache gave us the incentive to do just that, while at the same time finding the cache.

09-Apr-16
This cache was found between passing muggles on this busy road. Thankfully the feature wall provided plenty of excuse to be standing where we were.
Thank you bumandworker.

09-Apr-16
GZ most likely is the best opportunity I ever had while caching to look innocent when muggles approach. The last muggle passing was jogging with head phones on and almost run in front of my car later. A fright for both of us. The artwork was appreciated. Thank you bumandworker

19-Feb-16
Like the previous cacher we were looking around to get a glimpse of the Blue Lake. Will take a look on google instead. Smile

22-Jan-16

Find #2418. Great day to explore Takaka by bike. Cute little lamb in the yard came up for a chat & pat - obviously a family pet as it had not the slightest interest in other lambs in the same yard. SL TFTC

A very cool mural indeed. Ms M was so taken with it that she brought a couple of friends back the next day to see it. So worth a fave.

The third and final day of our Labour weekend trip to Golden Bay. There was quite a bit of rain overnight and some drizzle early morning, but mainly it was fine during the day so the weather didn't really put much of a dampener on our trip (apart from long wet grass and mud at some locations).
Very cool mural, and obviously the community is very proud of it. Didn't notice the nicely laid out parking places as I came from the wrong direction so my parking was not ideal Red Face. All quiet here on a stat. holiday morning. TFTC.

#8486. We didn't see the blue lake, but the mural was well worth stopping for. TFTC.

What a lovely cheerful, humorous mural! The cache container was sodden, but miraculously the log is ok. Dried out as best we could but might need a more water-tight container ... Thanks! J&G

Out for a long day's caching in the Bay with Kiwi Explorer. Great mural and now the name of the cache is explained. Thought there might be a few places to check for the cache but following the GPS took me to a spot where there was really only one option. TFTC, Biggles.

29-Jul-13
It's a shame you can't see the lake from here, or the cute & quirky cottage next to it made entirely from materials scavenged from the local transfer station .. The tenant/builder worked there (this was years ago so he may have moved on) so the only cost was his time and physical labour ..

The mural and community walk-way however are here to be enjoyed by all, it's very Golden Bay!

TFTC Smile
