Well, what a weekend! The FFLL ladies and myself decided to head over to SA to tackle the newest installment of the Fishy Tales caches, the Gone Fishin' series. Having a long weekend presented to us, and a day extra, we had a big task at hand to get them all done, but we did! There were many tears of laughter, exhausted bodies each night, and plenty of caches found. We even managed to score ourselves a few Earthcaches, Virtuals and even Webcams along the way as well as me passing my 10,000 find Big Grin

Lovely location along this trail, a nice place to start the big day off, with a nice wander along the coast.

Thanks for the cache hide clan greenwood Big Grin and a very special thanks to the FFLL ladies for an awesome fun filled adventure away Big Grin Looking forward to the next adventure.

Day 2 of our 4 day geoadventure with Rapidlywild on the Yorke Peninsula. After a good nights rest it was time to check out Port Vincent in the daylight and grab a bite to eat and collect a few smileys around town as well.

A nice trail and with spots overlooking the beach. A quick grab and onto the next one.

Holidaying in Minlaton with Messy61... thought we would go for a drive and pick up some caches in the area. Beautiful day, sun warmer than the temperature rates but a good day to do some caches. Lovely breeze down here to keep us cool. A bit windier here on the coast...lovely views again. Stumpy it is... TFTC

We are coming to the end of our three weeks staying on the Yorke Peninsula, and we will be sad to say goodbye to such a lovely area. We have moved around a bit spending three nights at each of the spots we’ve chosen, and it’s a great way to really get to see so much of what is on offer here. We’ve picked up heaps of caches but, more importantly, we have come to love this region and intend to return here and continue our explorations. Some great bakeries, coffee shops and pubs are also worth coming back for!
Another stop on this magnificent trail.
Loving it!

The Rats, steeba and Hoojar have teamed up for a York Peninsula adventure of massive proportion. With much planning and logistical coordinating, we had a great five days meandering the country roads collecting a plethora of caches. Our journey started with a handful letterbox caches before heading down the peninsula following the “Gone Fishn” series. We followed this up with an array of geo-art images that litter the lower peninsula. Returning to Adelaide we collected a gaggle of old and rare finds which included some interesting earthcaches and virtuals.

My apologises for the generic log, but thanks to all the cache owners and caching buddies who made the road-trip such a memorable and fun experience. Smile

09-Sep-18
After a review of the geocaching map in South Australia it was determined a trip to the Yorke Peninsula would yield some significant numbers. So, The Rats, Hoojar and I teamed up once agan to tackle the many caches on the peninsula.

We started in the darkness after flying into Adelaide and the next day set some personal records (550+ caches in a day) and milestones before bunking down. The next day was another massive numbers haul which resulted in a bit over 1,000 caches in two days Surprised!

Then it was a little more sedate down to the bottom of the peninsula and then back up the easterly side, ticking off a few EarthCaches in the process Big Grin.

After that, back to Adelaide for some night caching, virtuals and more EarthCaches!

The power trails on the peninsula were great- quiet roads, some great green wheat and yellow canola scenery, coupled with some great company and usual ribbing of each other [^]!

Thanks for your cache- sorry about the generic log. For the EarthCaches and virtuals look out for an email or two shortly.

TFTC!

This was a trip that had been some time in the making. A journey from Wollongong in New South Wales to the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, in search of large numbers. Five days were set aside, and The Rats, Steeba, and myself planned the details out. Lofty numbers were floated; we could find one thousand geocahces... Maybe more! The world was our oyster, all we had to do was make it happen.

We flew into Adelaide and quickly rented our car, then headed off for a series of thirty letterbox caches late that night. We then set up camp, ready for the next few days.

Two days journeying down the Yorke Peninsular saw us collect 550 caches the first day, and 450 the next. One thousand caches in two days! The numbers were phenomenal, unheard of, and excellent! At one stage we found fifty caches in a one hour period! We worked ourselves into a solid routine, and managed to push these numbers without caching after dark. Incredible! We camped out beside the trail, ready to commence again the following morning.

Having reached our goal of one thousand, we rented a cabin and enjoyed a solid relax and beet, and we were then able to dedicate the remaining time to specific caches, mostly Earthcaches to keep Steeba (The Professor) happy, and a good number of Vrtuals as well, as we made our way back from the end of the Yorke Peninsular to Adelaide. It really became a Tour De Earthcache! If your geocache is such a hide, stand-by, as Steeba will soon contact you with our answers.

As is always the case with these trips, the company was the highlight, with banter non stop, the time went by in an instant.

We saw some amazing things, found some excellent caches, and had an absolute blast.

Ticking just over 1300 finds for the trip, you will have to excuse the boilerplate logs!

Thanks to all of the cache hiders for their efforts in placing and maintaining their hides. It was fantastic exploring this part of the world that I had never visited before. Thanks also to my geocaching partners, without whom such a trip would not be possible, nor fun!

Cheers

Almost to Vinnie on a day trip from Black Point. Container was desintegraged, replaced - before and after shown! TFTC

07-Mar-18
We headed along the trail to this cache and good co-ordinates led to a quick find of a rather sad cache. The container had completely disintegrated, most likely due to UV degradation. It will need replacing as soon as possible. Fortunately the log book was sealed in a plastic bag and is in good condition.

After signing the log and sealing it up in the plastic bag we placed it and the other contents on the remains of the container and covered them with bark and a rock.

Thanks for the cache and a reason to walk along this trail. This cache needs urgent maintenance.

31-Dec-16
On our stay in Port Vincent during December I was pleased to see plenty of geocaches on the map, which would keep my current streak going. That meant finding just one a day, and walking/driving past others on the way there though, which was a bit frustrating. Logging them all now that we are home and have access to a PC.

This cache container was a bit exposed, and had been smashed. Not sure if it had just become brittle in the heat, but it now needs replacing. Unfortunately I wasn't carrying any supplies on me, so couldn't do it myself. TNLNSL TFTC

**this is a late log** I have recently made a major upgrade to my GSAK license and found this lovely feature that automatically tells me what caches I have marked found in GSAK but never logged on geocaching.com!! Yay, Clyde, you can have my money anytime! The caches I am logging in this batch were ones I did in 2016. I cache with an assortment of cachers and never alone. In 2016 I cached with Moneydork, Ride the GeoWalrus, Locus Cacher, Liz & Bruce and Team Zouk. My log should match up with one of theirs. I enjoy every cache find I have made and do not for one second take for granted the effort going into each one, its just I'm very bad at logging my finds and I'm trying to improve. To improve I have to reduce the quality of my log and just get it over with -- for now. If I can form a good habit again I will return to my once more meaningful logging. Thanks heaps for hiding caches around South Australia that I could find!

8676. One full day in Port Vincent so Robmc and I managed a 13km ride around town and several walks to gather some smilies. To our surprise after a rainy start the skies cleared and we enjoyed a sunny, if windy day touring around. The ocean looked magnificent in its many shades of blue!

With the aid of the hint this was a quick find and onwards we ride for more great views - golden on one side and blue on the other.

Thanks. clan greenwood

Day three of the short holiday with Bettyboo3747. Cycled around Port Vincent.
Ran north in the morning, then south in the afternoon (well shanks ponies in the afternoon).
Lovely views all along the coast, with the Gulf on one side, and the green and gold fields on the other.
Great view from here! I was admiring the view while BB was finding the cache - sound like a fair distribution of duties to me!
Thanks, Robmc.

Another day on the Yorke with alansee and Team Crackers. A variety of caches were encountered and eventually conquered, making for an enjoyable and liesurely day out. I'm sure a few extra finds would have occurred but taking a long lunch put paid to that expectation.

16-Aug-14

Day three with Alansee and Micaparamedic we were finishing off a few caches around Port Vincent and then heading to Wallaroo for a few days caching there

Continuing along this trail of caches taking in the views along the way this was the next on the list on a glorious winter's day. Again the GPSr led us straight to the cache for a quick find and sign. How good is this.

To save room in the logs we signed as M.A.C.( Micaparamedic Alansee and Team Crackers).

Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring South Australia after having attended Oz Mega. Big Grin

Today was a quieter day for us touring with iluvtrekking. We headed out from Coobowie to, Port Giles, Wool Bay, Stansbury and Port Vincent before returning to Coobowie.

The weather was threatening at one point, but generally we had the best possible weather and company. We saw some awesome views and extremely grateful for seeing some highlights that Yorke Peninsula has to offer.

The walking trails fell to Mr FelixII and Mr iluvtrekking. They walked both trails and collected the info along with tackling some cache maintenance. We stayed in touch through the trek on uhf radio and mobile phone. Interesting tour and many pics taken.

On the road with FelixII exploring the Yorke Peninsula.

Today was to be a casual trip along some of the eastern beaches, a bit of lunch and a bit of caching. This was one of the caches that we happened on during our travels.

26-Apr-14

15-Apr-14
We walked this entire trail today and with a 5 year old that was quite an achievement.

I can see how people would choose to do this trail as drive bys, but I kind of think that defeats the purpose of what geocaching is. It is about going out for an adventure not for a quick numbers run.

The walk along the cliff face was amazing, awesome views and lots of fun. To top it off the kids where asleep quickly that night after being well and truely worn out. Thanks Clan Greenwood for the series.
