Not having updated the GPS, I didn't realize this was archived. Found WP1 and Final with help. Both saturated and in disrepair. Pity to see this one go. TFTC

Goodbye cache of the year 2014. You will be missed.

26-Mar-16
Unfortunately what seemed like what must have been a great cache, has fallen into disrepair. WP1 was found today, the box, including electronics soaking wet..... a decent (trampling) search around this spot didn't turn up GZ, not really how geocaching should be in my opinion.....
Maybe time it is put to bed?

Out caching with Elev8!on [mrnoo17] today checking out some more of the COTY2015 Nominations...

Unfortunately, we think the Canaries batteries are flat. Our extensive search, even with PAF, turned up nothing.

WP1 found quickly, eventually followed by WP2 without audio assistance (though many different 'real' sounds). Fun cache, would have been awesome as initially intended. TFTC

Found without the equipment at wp1 working. Great cache! Thanks

28-Mar-15
We found WP1 after a bit of search and attempted to use the device without much hope after reading the previous log. We figured it was not working but decided to try our luck for a found anyway and we did! Enjoyed the hide at both waypoints but disappointed it was not working as intended. As the previous finder has stated the device does not work even when placed right next to the container at WP2. TFTC anyway.

26-Mar-15
WP2 device is non-functional (again). Even from two inches away, I couldn't get it to generate a sound. Needs inspection/repair - water the likely culprit. I really wish it had been working - top concept!

25-Mar-15
Well, this was an adventure! You're probably lucky I've spent the day at work before I logged this, as I was a bit grumpy this morning (and got to work very late as a result of this cache experience). HAHA

Firstly, let me say that this is in theory a great concept for a cache, and I really like the placement and camo for both WP1, and WP2. However, when WP2 can't be found by the intended means because the device is broken/non-functioning (which seems to be a recurrent theme based past logs), it really detracts from the experience, as you essentially don't know if you simply aren't 'hearing' the right thing, or if you are in the wrong spot, or if you are doing it all wrong! I spent ages and ages wandering around in a big circle using WP1's tool (which is functional) trying to find any semblance of a chirpy WP2. Nothing obvious - and then I started to overthink - maybe the bird noises I can hear aren't actual birds... but no, it turns out they were. I found an awesome cockatoo in a tree, and a few rainbow lorikeets, and at one point I thought I'd found a snake (thank goodness it wasn't - a reminder to look down as well as up).

In the end, and getting more and more frustrated, I decided WP2 was non-functional and went back to basics, seeking out signs of placement and not bothering to listen for anything - fortunately this yielded the intended result. WP2 device is/was full of water and a big spider (I tipped both out - no idea how the spider got in there). Signed nearby log, and thanked my lucky stars for the find.

An awesome concept, and I think if it was working, you'd have got an FP - it's a lovely quiet space and I think my new favourite part of the Jesmond bush (especially down in the gully nearby) - although I do like the rock formations up near Lilly's and another mystery cache GZ close by. TNLN TFTC - Maintenance requested on behalf of future cachers.

6466 Found with team Bob (grimraider, kittykatch ACtChill, DarzeeDi and WombatatCrows) on a trip up to Port Stephens. Had a great fun caching. Did two events. Met up with alot of lovely people and I even did a night cache.

Wombatatcrows and I got to this one aand found the waypoint straight away. I have seen a cache like this before and knew what to do. So start doing it and hear nothing? I keep going around in a circle but still dont hear anything?

Giveup and head to the event and once there after chatting to one of the people I knew there (which wasnt many). We met the cache owner who said he would come and give us a hand. Once with his head we worked out the item you had to use was wet and just didnt work Sad Thanks for your help and can say this type of cache is a really great cache TFTC

8660 + 998 = 9658. Found during my visit to Newcastle this weekend.

I was looking forward to doing this cache but was informed by a fellow cacher that it didn't seem to be "working". As luck would have it the CO was at the event today and offered to take us up there to check it out. Unfortunately it was true - the object in question was full of water and not working. The CO kindly let us make the find and so we signed the log, then headed further into the scrub for a few more finds.

Thanks cccriter ! Awesome cache - definitely a Favourite Point. Hope you can visit Canberra soon and see our version !

TNLN - TFTC !!

Cheers....

Found at 9:58 AM GAFF1. I love these sort of mechanical caches, however this one is really soft! Could barely make out which direction I had to go and luckily there were no other loud noises like cicadas etc. Nice work on the final hide.
Thanks cccritter.

This concept was awesome!! Probably the best I have seen so far!! Found with gwandycroc today!! Was difficult to find due to cicadas and the chainsaw!! Haha Also got my first path tag

08-Jan-14
The cache is back...the hide is significantly hindered due to the cicada's...therfore, for the time being, once WP1 is found...walk down the hill a bit!

It appears the "reciever" has a colony of ants in it. Down for a week or more...may need to buy new unit.

04-Jan-14
A DNF on first attempt, my sister and I went back today to find this cache, and after several minutes of looking and listening, which was made difficult by very loud cicadas chirping away constantly. A bit of wandering around and found what looked like the container which was not the one, found the correct one and giggled with glee, jumping up and down with excitement. What a clever hide, very exciting to finally find this one. This will definately be getting a favourite from me. Smile

Our second attempt here, so excited to find this one after we were about to give up Razz Well apprentice geocacher Lady Moo Moo found it. Loved the final, loved the 1st waypoint & thanks to the CO for your help as I am returning to Perth very soon. SL TFTC & the multi Cccritter. One of the best hides/ multis I have seen, adding to my favourites & left my signature Pathtag Cool

03-Jan-14
Sad to say a DNF for Lady Moo Moo and myself. We looled & looked, tried really hard to find this waypoint. No chance of hearing anything anyway with all of the racket in the bush - cicadas? Hope to be back before I return to Perth [?] Thanks anyway cccritter7

Today we headed into Jesmond bush to grab the remaining ones we needed, along with a couple Chippyroo needed.

this was our last cache for the bush today, after arriving at Wp1 with chippyroo giving me the hot/cold treatment as he had already found it. The cleverly disguised Wp was found, after listening and making my way around I eventually heard the required sound and made my way to GZ where I initially went for the wrong container, but I noticed the more clever container. TFTC great cache chris.

Being new at this we were only going to tackle traditional caches (no puzzles, no multis), but so glad we attempted this one. Has to be a favourite! The amazing thing is when back on the trail you can see the caches so clearly when you know where they are! LOL. Great fun! TFTC

We walked in the longish way but were soon on the right path. At the waypoint the GPS just wouldn't settle down so we had to phone a friend to be pointed in the right direction (that is very well hidden I must say!). We found it a little hard to locate GZ as nature just wasn't on our side with birds calling constantly, traffic sounds and a low flying helicopter that just wouldn't go away but we managed to locate the cache in the end.

Another great cache that is out of the ordinary - a fav point from us.

#230

This was an awesome cache, first I have encountered, but I have seen this type online. I do think though that Cccritter7 has too much time on his hands.

Our three man team set off in the morning, with Sandwichhman,
Cccritter7 and I keen for a 43km ride full of caches.After
heading from Lambton through the Uni, we came out at Warabrook,
picking up caches along the way. However, trouble started
when Cccritter7's chain snapped. This put an end to our great
plan of heading up to Ash Island, then Kooragang, Stockton,
Newcastle, then back home. This was unfortunate, and we
slowly made our way back to Ccritter7's. We then managed
to get another bike, and headed through Jeso Bush to find
a few more. We then stopped off at Hungry Jack's to refuel
on our way to Maryland. We took a break at Sandwichhman's,
refuelling, then Cccritter 7 and I headed off to find some
of the Maryland caches. We then headed back to Wallsend,
picking up a few multi's, then heading slowly up McCaffrey
Drive. We split ways, and our 35km bike ride/GeoCaching
adventure had finished.

Thanks for the cache Cccritter7

Went out for a walk in the Bush from jeso Park to find some more of the caches in the area. After arriving in the area noticed all the geotrails so searched around for a few minutes and found wp1.
Now had an idea what was involved in locating the cacheand after a couple of minutes had the cache in hand. This would be easier for the younger cacher with better hearing.
TFTC cccriter7 gets a fav point.

Wow! What an amazing cache! With 3 of us searching in the bush, still took us a while but eventually found when the woman stepped in and had a proper look! Knew straight away what we were trying to find at the second point. So well thought out. Made our day! TFTC. Definitely gets a favourite point from us.

Having read all the logs and seeing that this had so many favourite points I just had to have a go at this cache. I knew the area pretty good as I have ridden here with my mtb a few times. This part of the track is one of my favourite areas. Arrived at coords and quickly realised that everyone before me had a hard time finding the cache based upon all the geo trails everywhere. I started my search and took close attention to the well worn paths and after a little search found WP1. It just didnt look right - even though I walked past it a few times and didnt notice it. Having found WP1 I knew exactly what to do. Even so it still took a few goes and I soon found my way to GZ. Based upon the name I was hoping for a zipp line through the trees. But even with my high expectations I was still impressed at GZ to find something I had never seen before. Great little cache and I had a lot of fun finding this one. Great work Chris. Gets a favourite from me. It sets the bar high with a cache that Im currently working on.

I was pretty keen on finding this one after reading the comments.
Arrived at WP1 and after about 10 minutes of looking found what I was looking for.
After moving around a bit, I knew where I was going for WP2 and wow! nice cache!

The hunt for this cache started out so well! We found a track that was leading in the rough direction, and followed that, then turned off on another, following the needle, and then came to a dead-end. Damn!
Back we went and tried another track further up, and after a while realised we were on the wrong side of the creek with thick bush between us and the cache. And then I got a phone call from the CO, saying he could see us, and if we back-tracked a bit, he would use his intimate knowledge of the local area to guide us on our way. An offer we couldn't refuse!
So, back and on and arrived at GZ. The container holding WP1 is very well done and blends in well. Inside, the device was used and in the distance a response was elicited. What a great concept! Anyway, we wandered in the indicated direction and quickly arrived at GZ, and another mechanical device was used to deliver the cache into our waiting hands.
A well made and unique cache. TNLNSL TFTC

After finishing work for the day we set of with Jonigniht to have a go at this new cache. We knew roughly where to go and got to about 160 meters from GZ before zeroing in with the GPS. we searched the usual spots for about 2 minutes and then decided to look for something a little different, Jonignight had WP1 in very quick time, we then had all the info needed to get us to the final. Very nice work, really enjoyed this one. You have earned a favorite point from us for all your effort. Thanks for the cache cccritter7.

Reperio at 1500. *FTF*

This one was published while I was still at work...and only 800m from home...so as soon as I was finished for the day, I headed off to check it out. Followed the trails in to WP1, and soon came to an area that looked promising. After wandering around for 45 mins...I still couldn't find what I needed. Heard some muggles walking along the trail, so I headed off into the bush until they walked by...but...they stopped! It soon became apparent they were here for the same reason I was...and so wandered over to say hello...and met some international geocachers in OxfordMasterCacher. Had a quick chat, and then it was back to searching for the cache. Another 40 mins passed by...and still the cache could not be found. We extended our search by up to 70m at one stage...but we couldn't locate it. After the others decided to call it a day, I too decided to leave it for another day...but not until I gave the area one last going over. Went through all the available possible places to hide a cache...and it was pure luck that I happened upon the place where the cache was hiding. What a relief.

Opened up the cache to find a familiar looking object, and soon realised what the cache was all about. After a few moments...I was at GZ...and another nifty little cache container was found. Once the log was signed...I ran back along the trails hoping to catch up to the other cachers...but couldn't spot them.

Well done on a great little cache. Have only come across a couple of these caches before so it's great to have something like this in the area.

Gratias cccritter7.

We started off on the Birchgrove Drive side. Soon we found out that we couldn't get to the cache from that side, so we drove around to Jesmond Park. We walked in the bush and started searching at the coords. Soon we heard some noise in the bushes. An animal? No, just Marcus Vitruvius. We searched together for almost an hour but couldn't find it. Said goodbye and called it a day. Too bad. Sad
