Had an opotunity to come down this way, sadly the only thing found at GZ was a NO STANDING sign cable tied to barbed wire fence, not very council like but could be car club thing, no magnetized mint tin, even had a look at signs across road
Pickup mother in law from air port so decided to wait on the side of the road for a few mins, figure I'll just check to see if there is a cache near by and low and behold there is. Quick find Tftc
Nice day for a geocache around the western area. Have just recently gotten back into geocaching after a long break thanks for the cache.
The last time i was here was for my first holiday to sydney with my ex girlfriend to see the set of home and away.

International Geocaching Day! A souvenir always appeals and so does any excuse for dragging the family out for some caching. Fortunately the weather was in my favour - although bitterly cold and windy, at least it was not raining!
Cache quickly located by GeoHubby. We tried to think of when we last flew out of Avalon - suspect it was to Sydney for a wedding a few years ago but we're not really sure.
Log signed and all replaced as found.

Thanks for the reprieve from the trek to Colac. Thought I'd grab a few caches on the way home and this has been on my to do list for a while. I have not flown as a passenger from Avalon but do come to the airport for the airshow every other year. TFTC TR!

Heading home after a weekend of caching.
Decided to detour slightly to pick up the caches around this area. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find. Cheers

Got some interesting looks as a plane had just landed. We were actually on the other side of the airport, watching it fly over us when it came in. Thanks for the cache and for bringing us here.
I've never flown in or out of Avalon, or even been there before but I was heading down to Ocean Grove for a few days break in the cool weather so stopped off for a quick detour to grab a few caches along the way. Fairly exposed here at GZ but not too much traffic while I searched and made the quick find. Logbook still seems in a reasonable condition to me. Thanks for the cache.
Found in the first place I looked, however I didn't looked closely enough. Had a bit of a wander about and then returned to find it. TFTC
8:54, 24 June 2017, #265, after dropping Alan off at the airport, I checked the local area and wanted to see how my new samsung S8 performed while caching seeing I have only had it for 2 days.
I found the GZ quite quickly and easily and signed the log and felt quite happy with myself and my new phone.... TFTC
The Log book was quite damp, I managed to sign it but it might need some attention, I didnt have any TOTT with me other than a pen in my vehicle.

Found on a one month road trip around Australia. Sorry for the generic log. TNLNSL TFTC
Flew down from Sydney this morning to attend the Supanova convention at the Melbourne Showgrounds and now I have a few hours before my flight back home to find some caches. I had done a couple of caches in Melbourne but decided to find the caches around the airport so that I was close by for when it was time to check in. In the end this was the only cache I found before check in because I had left my GPSr on the roof of the hire car. When I heard it roll off the roof, I pulled over and then I spent the next 70 minutes with my small torch searching up and down the road side trying to locate it. I had given up finding it when I decided to drive back down the road to GZ and do a slow drive back along the edge of the road when I noticed it in the middle of the lane on the other side of the road. Big relief and thanks to God for answering my prayer in finding the GPSr. Meanwhile the cache is a nice quick find and no prayer was required in finding it. SL #3126 on streak day #1759 TFTC
Easily found on my way back to the terminal. Thanks for the hide. Goodbye Melbourne, goodbye Avalon, goodbye Victoria.
First time here I was going to fly out of here a couple of weeks ago but plans got changed
In the area found a series and picking up others that I come across
A quick find as you can park at GZ and being a Sunday it is very quiet TFTC

On the way to get Jinky from AAV. Looking forward very much to seeing her. TNLN, SL, TFTC
Just about managed to survive the high speeds quarry trucks zooming past every few minutes. Log signed & away!!
#1980 Down at Avalon to pick up Mrs Laurenda flying in - arrived a little early so what better way to fill in time than pick up a few caches! GPSr was indicating elsewhere but decided to check the obvious first - bingo. Thanks TR!
With another caching day on the agenda, aketch1 and I headed for Avalon and Lara to add a few more smilies to the map. Overall we found 12/13 caches and enjoyed a homemade picnic lunch of cheese and marmite rolls in Lara.
Quick find here. Thanks TR!

Pretty funny as we pulled up to this one the song playing in the car was 'Caught by the Fuzz' and some passing Police slowed down to look at what we were doing. Luckily they didn't stop to ask as it would've been terribly awkward with that song blaring from the stereo... A nice quick find, sign and return. TFTC
Our last cache for the day. Good to look for a cache teamashy hadnt yet looked for. We pulled up nearby, a short search and had cache in hand. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC
Found this with Snoopy1976 today after dropping RIS768 off at the Airport. A nice and easy find TFTC
Streak Day #1220 - After dropping ris768 off at the airport what else do you do when your car gps makes the sound 'ting'on approach of a geocache, of course you stop and nab the cache and SL. TFTC

I have planned ahead well before my trip and have solved the puzzles back home in Germany. It took hard work and fun to solve them.
I have visited them today during such beautiful sunshine.
I have met many nice Cachers here as well.

Best regards from Germany Bavaria

Found with Mtrax and Strangetrousers. Nice quick find on our way to Anglesea from Canberra. Thanks TR.
2566 39 of 53 for days 1 & 2 of the Mega weekend with Tankengine & mtrax.
The first day was from Canberra to Holbrook, with only a handful of cache finds. We just wanted to get some distance done before the final drive the following day. We passed a small group of Comanchero bikies on the way down the Hume and didn;t think much of it. However it turns out they were staying that night at the same pub in Holbrook. They were no trouble, but they chatted way into the night & then started again early Friday morning.
Friday was the bug distance day with my first finds in Victoria and then a total of 50 for the day. Some very interesting locations, particularly around Geelong where I have never been before. Friday night we had dinner with the ACT Geocachers at the Anglesea golf club.
The weather so far has been perfect, but the forecast is not so good. Looking forward to my first day of the real Mega events tomorrow.

Found it but had trouble retrieving and returning due to muggles stopping to take photo's of the bright yellow canola fields. TFTC
The last time I was here, I flew to Sydney. Not such a big deal in the grand scheme, but I hadn't been to Sydney since I was 8. So when a friend wanted to go to see The Lion King (because he was assured it wasn't coming to Melbourne), and he was offering to pay for air fares, the word "yes" may have left skid marks on my tongue. We were there for 3 nights, and I was 100% tourist material. Did morning runs around the Domain (stopping every 200m to take photos), hired a board and surfed at Bondi, etc, etc. Thanks heaps, TR!
First cache of our mexifornia trip with Tr1 for the weekend. How appropriate it's yours guys xx tftc

A short detour off the highway to grab this. I've not bee along here for a few years but travelled it as a volunteer for the Airshiw for several shows as flying is one of my passions. TFTC TR!
On our way to check out the airport so we had to stop and grab this one. Cool placement tftc
Nice easy find when you don't have a deadline, like getting to the Leap Day event!! TFTC
We decided to enjoy a Saturday down in Lara for the 2 events that were happening today.
Having not been down here before we had a heap of caches to enjoy looking for.
This is our first visit to Avalon. Will have to see what type of flights they have for a caching trip (in a few years)
Thanks for the cache and the hide.

The weekend of caching must come to an end..... Rokmum and I are grabbing a few more caches as we start the drive home. Quick and easy find. Thanks for the cache!
Found by Mary & David at 1230. The third place we looked - doh! How appropriate that a commercial jet flew over just as we found the cache. We both enjoy flying, and Mary's trip begins in the QANTAS Lounge with champagne. Bummer if it is early morning and there's none out yet. Our thanks to TR!.
Last time I was here was when I was with a mate in the back of his work van enjoy a nice cold frothy while he photographed the planes coming in for Avalon a few years ago! Haven't been fortunate to get back to the Airshow in recent times, but might just have to get there for the next one.

Great little cache! Last time i was here i headed to sydney for a weekend getaway
(Late entry) Finally being able to catch up on some logs, we were in the area from Ballarat, after geoson had some fun with the nearby 4x4 experience, we couldn't go without trying to add a few smiles. We have visited this airport to fly to Sydney, (much prefer it to the melbourne one), that was in our pre caching days, so it was nice to have another reason to stop here, with no one around we made the search, finally it was in hand, signed and returned, great hide, TFTC
Found and signed. Last time I was here I was watching a friend race RC cars and the track right here. Fun times. They also have car rally's here.
We Live not far from here.
Our last visit to this Airport was on a trip to Sydney back in November 2014. Love the short drive to this great airport. Just wish they had more flights to more destinations from here. TFTC TR!

#885 Mission today, find a cache large enough to hold a TB I've been looking after (for too long now), near an airport. Hence Avalon, but alas these caches are too small for this one. So while I'm here let's find a couple of caches. This one was quickly in hand, signed and replaced. I was able to live the flying dream for a while. Thanks TR
Driving home from a kayaking adventure down in swan bay there was still enough light to make a coupe of quick finds. This one was a quick find only slowed by the muggles driving past. TFTC
Found whilst out caching with OutRangerous. Very high muggle area as people dropping off or picking up at nearby airport but a break in the traffic allowed a quick grab. TFTC
Out for a day's geocaching with Chakram. quick last one for the day. patiently (not) waited til the coast was clear to retrieve.
I normally drive past this area at 100km/h but today had a pick up from the airport, glad the cache was here coz I arrived early and didn't want to sit around keeping a toddler out of trouble at the terminal.

I had a little time to fill in before checking into my accomodation in Geelong so I decided to have a look at Avalon Airport, but first I had to sign this cache. The cache had been pushed well home, but I found a natural tool that soon had the cache in my hands.[^] TFTC.
Quick find. This would be a great find on the way, if you were going to the airport. Tftc.
