Was a tad late yesterday to head up and the lovely girl at the gate let me know it closed I 15 minutes. I headed back this morning and alas the weather had closed in but I still enjoyed the walk around the summit . The geology is amazing. Easy find here and tftc

7.1 World travelers adventure log.Out and about exploring the world with Nildran on this epic adventure! Thanks for adding to our memories and letting us explore your favorite spots all over the world! It continues to be a wild ride!TFTC SLIf you find yourself at a local pub during trivia night, and the category is:'States shaped like a Mitten'here is some information that may help you win that round:Michigan trivia 7.112. Traverse City is the tart (i.e., pie) cherry capital of the world, and hosts the week-long National Cherry Festival each July.13. Battle Creek, a city well-known to anyone who ever sent off for a prize earned by saving up cereal box tops, is the cereal capital of the world due to the presence of the Kellogg Company. Kellogg's, by the way, offered its first mail-in cereal box prize back in 1909.14. Vernor's Ginger Ale, which was created by a Detroit druggist, is possibly the oldest soft drink still on the market. It's definitely the oldest-surviving brand of ginger ale.15. The Michigan Dogman, a kind of werewolfish-type beast, was first spotted in Wexford County in 1887 and several times thereafter. More recent sightings have mostly been linked to a 1987 radio station hoax, as well as to a related 2007 video which was later debunked on MonsterQuest.16. The melon heads of Ottawa County are a whole other breed of Michigan cryptid. They were said to have originated as children with hydrocephalus who lived at an insane asylum near Holland's Felt Mansion, but they somehow mutated, went feral and escaped into the surrounding woods where they still lurk, waiting to leap out and attack.17. The bell from the Edmund Fitzgerald, the wrecked ship made famous in a Gordon Lightfoot song, is on display at the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at the Whitefish Point Light Station.18. Michigan has the nation's longest freshwater shoreline.19. If you straightened out Lake Superior's shoreline alone, it would reach from Duluth to the Bahamas.20. Michigan touches four out of the five great lakes, more than any other state: Huron, Michigan, Erie and Superior.21. The J.W. Westcott II, which operates out of Detroit, is the world's only floating post office, as it delivers mail to ships as they pass under the Ambassador Bridge.22. The Saugatuck Chain Ferry, built in 1838, is the only remaining hand-cranked chain ferry in the U.S.
What a great spot! After some lunch and cake I've got time to look for this cache!
A previous log helped to work out the location of the exact hide. Got snowy knees in the retrieval. TFTC
Down in the south for my birthday and what a beautiful place to be Loved the walks and the scenery and collecting caches on the way. Thanks to the COs for the placements and info about the area TFTC
Another look at the phone when having a cup of coffee at a scenic point cache. Lots of tourists on a perfectly fine morning with the forecast saying snow tonight! Can see why this part of the country is so dependent on tourists. I think we were the only locals! Having a long strong arm is helpful when retrieving this one. Even a second pair of hands would help. Didnt really expect to find a cache here as it is on private property. Thanks for setting it up.
Found with Gummi_Venus. We didnt spot anything in the obvious place. Circled the rock a few times and inspiration struck. A quick peak behind the leafy camouflage and the cache was ours. We kept the AT card surely left behind by an outbound tourist. That could come in handy for our upcoming Auckland cache expedition.

This morning as I drove past on the main highway Mt John was shrouded in cloud so I flagged the plan of finally heading up there and carried on. However, by the time I had walked to and found a couple of caches in the bike park on the opposite side of the lake and had something to eat in the township the cloud had lifted and the sun was shining so up I headed. I had walked part of the way before but today I drove. Parked in the carpark and headed in the opposite direction from where everyone else was to here for a quick find. TFTC # 20,883
