Looked in all the obvious places using gps and hints to no avail so then looked in places that were less likely but still came away with a DNF but thanks heaps for bringing us to this important monument and beautiful view.
When going back home after a beachvisit in Ligar Bay. This was an important spot to visit (being Dutch) LOL. Interesting spot. Our friends from France found the cache
Took a while to find this one, even using the clues. Finally found after thinking the last clue might not be correct and sure enough there it was. Replaced cache to where we believe the third clue would have had it. tftc
Found after the Nelson to Tarakohe yacht race (I was aboard Same Cafe, we came second!). I had some time to fill in, so I had a look for some geocaches. TFTC
Found it one a beautiful sunny Sunday. It was lying quite open on the ground, so we "put it up".
From our holiday in New Zealand after å friends wedding at Anatoki Salmon farms.
As the Cyclone Gita destrøyed our plans to do the Heaphey trail we needed to find another plave to explore. Today we choose to drive to Wainui falls.
When we stopped her we found out ther was a cache hidden on this spot, which was interesting spesial for a Dutchy.
Thanks for showing BigglesNZ.

I don't know where I'm going.
But I'm going.
Shall i go to the left , where nothing's right?
Or to the right , where nothing's left?
Are you coming with me?

Glorious viewpoint! Unspoilt coastline, perfect weather and few people. What more could you ask for. TFTC
Very interesting spot and a nice view. Thanks for pointing out this location.

Touring the area and stopped at the Abel Tasman memorial. First to find. This is my first ‘FTF’. Easy find after 5 min. Thanks
I think this has been removed when some bushes have been cleared in front of the hiding place.
Haven't taken the time to stop and visit the memorial for about 30 years, so thanks for giving me an excuse. Had the place km ourselves late on a winter afternoon, I wouldn't like to try for this in mid summer. Left a trinket
Taking a winter birthday break at Pohara Top 10 Holiday Park. Interesting spot. TFTC.
Taybeedragon, Zara and I are on a three day geocaching extravaganza curtesy of Her Majesty the Queen, Defender of the Faith, Protector of the Commonwealth. Happy birthday, Liz!
I have been up here before, and there must have been a cache here then, so I must have found it, and let the dragon do the find. Oddly enough, when comes the time to write a write note (mostly to help the dragon with logging her finds) I find this cache was not found by me. or DNFed. It's old enough though. I came up here and completely forgot to look for the cache? Strange.
Anyway, gets a fave for the location and the histories. Much better than a roadside barrier cache!

The Seagnoid, Zara and I are off for an adventure to Golden Bay. The Seagnoid is navigator and Zara and I pair up getting us from A to B?? OK the awesome Rawhiti Caves are behind us - so what adventures await us?
Had seen this memorial from the harbour - so lets go and visit it. Great place and lots of interesting info. Easy snag and tag after just missing a beautiful sundown. Cheers

Thanks for showing this historic place! Great place and great hide. Took a TB to travel with me to Australia! Thanks a lot!
Quick find only had to wait for a couple of muggles to go. Left Gator TB but missed getting the number. TFTC.
I walked up here today from pohara. Cache could not hide from me too long. Hadnt got a peoler pen with me and hope that a proove photo will be sufficient. Tftc
Very interesting to learn about Tasman's exploration of this area. Hello from Juneau, Alaska. ~thanks #3795
A quick find in the Walker Girls flying visit to Golden Bay. So much to do, so little time. This was our only Geocache find in the Bay. And a great spot at that. TFTC
Found the cache but I could not manoeuvre it from it's hiding spot so did not sign the log.
Quick find & a gorgeous view from the top. However forgot a pen on this journey hence could not sign the log book.
On Wed 7th the brand new Oregon 700 hiccuped and lost all cache details from the Takaka PQ. Still showed icons with cache names- but no details. So a trip to the Takaka internet cafe to note down the directions and hints for a handful of essential Takaka caches... but not this one. Since we had learnt a lot about Tasman's visit during our stay at Takaka, we made a point of stopping here on our way past to see the stretch of sea where it all happened. No clue, but Mr D looked where it 'should' be hidden and there it was. Had left pen in car so attaching photo of logbook with Penguin Traveller TB.
Had to come back as we forgot a pen yesterday. Still as beautiful a spot so not a problem at all. Well worth a favourite point. Right. Now for a swim! TFTC
This year me and RobLigtenberg were lucky enough to spend almost 2 months in New-Zealand on a great holiday. We explored both islands and just like everyone else we loved it. Apart from all the major attractions (roturua, tongariro, abel tasman, the glaciers, the fjords and so much more) we also tried to do some caches in order to discover even more of the country. We spend two great days in the Abel Tasman national park and today we explored the northern end of the park. On our way back to the camping we visited the memorial (a must-see as real Dutchies ) and had an easy find with this cache.

During our nearly two month holiday in New Zealand we spend time on both the northern and southern island. Both islands happened to be very beautiful, each in its own way. Together with Ninagustein we searched for many caches, as we think it is a great way of discovering the country. Numerous caches get you to places you otherwise wouldn't have visited and it is also fun to find caches at touristic places. On this day we went to the northern part of Abel Tasman national park for a hike. On our way back (to Collingwood) we found this well hidden cache.

In the area finding a few caches - thought we would have a wee look for this one - a family were at the site before us so we hung around and waited - the wind was howling so we thought that they would soon move on. We waited some more - watched the kite boarders in the bay below and then we waited some more - seems that the family had no intention of leaving so I went up the top and took some photos and distracted the families children while GK made the find and signed the cache. We had plenty of time to read the information boards while we were here tftc
While I spotted this cache straight away, I just couldn't get the angle right to remove it so left it to hubby to attack from another angle and soon was signing the log.
We had an hour or so before our guest arrived for the day, so I took myself off for a walk whilst the rest of the MSEBNs and friends cosied indoors by the fire.
I made my way straight to the top to take in the view - which wasn't at its best today, sadly - before descending to look for the cache.
It took me a while to make first contact, mainly due to my angle of approach and mis-reading the navigation instructions and then a while longer to extract the cache from its tight-fitting hidey-hole.
Certainly a nice spot to stop awhile, whether caching or not.
Thanks

Came here yesterday, and said to my wife there was probably a cache somewhere.
Checked for Pohara caches over night, and found it today.
Thanks.

Stunning, today Golden Bay was beautiful. I have never actually walked up here before so finally had an excuse to stop, was not disappointed and I expect I will stop again. I took the cache to the deck to sign and almost lost it over the side!! however all ok, and put back as I found it. Thank you.
My husband ,Sir belac and I got up early and headed to Takaka so my husband could go fishing .So Sir belac and I armed our selves with GPS and pens etc and spent the day caches .I had been to this monument before with Paddle chick, a quick easy find Tftc. Buggles
This is a stunning memorial and one certainly worthy of a cache. We found the cache no problem, extracting it took quite a bit longer. Hopefully we've returned it so it is easier for the next finder to get to the log.
Thank you BigglesNZ.
Thank you BigglesNZ.
How embarrassing to see a cache being produced from a spot you just checked. This is a memorial that I find to have been carefully thought out and implemented. The view on a setting sun is just stunning. Thank you BigglesNZ
On Geocaching road trip. Letting the geocaching lead us to some great spots. TFTC
Would the next finder please erase my added comment in the log book. Of course we all know that it was Cook who was killed in Hawaii, not Tasman! A real brain-fart moment when I wrote that. TFTC
We stopped off here before heading back over the hill and had a look at the monument and the view.

I was a bit wild when I found it because it was in a place that I had a look in on a school camp but thanks.
This is according my gps not the first cache of 2016. Cause my gps is set on Central Europe time. So it's logged on 31-12-2015. But it was the first I found in 2016 on 1-1-2016 NZ time. Does it really matter? I enjoyed the cache and the history I learned here! Thanks for placing a cache here!
Fortunately no visitors to site when I was there. Took quite a while to extract but easy to return (had the knack then).Great View. TFTC
Found during our holiday in New Zealand. Thanks for the cache. Greetings from the Czech Republic.
On the road to Totaranui … so a little time for some caching in an area we’re not usually in. A great day for travelling, and neat to stop off, and collect one of, ‘yours’. T, BigglesNZ,FTC
A quick find at this rather basic looking monument, although it was quite difficult to remove and replace the cache. TFTC
