Thanks Beacon! We are here around Peel finishing up a few caches! Thanks for placing and maintaining caches for us to enjoy.
Bathurst TripFound with Joolay, FurfacesLL, Gliss, contesta and the gang on a drive to Bathurst for a weekend of caching. Caches signed as CBI24 (Canberra Bathurst Invasion 24). Great to fnd this cache today and turn that blue dnf to a smiley. Thanks for the hide opted-out user
Chooo ooo [Found] on a caching invasion of Bathurst! Log signed CBI24!Thanks opted-out user!
I found this cache to avenge a previous DNF and to rid my map of a sad blue face. Today, a group from Canberra (and some from surrounding areas) are in Bathurst for the next in our Invasion series. We were last here 4 years ago, but there are plenty more caches these days. This years group includes barb2e, Isopeda, Youban, DTY, Tankengine, Kittykatch, Joolay, GLISS!, domskys, FurfacesLL, TikvaNZ, minniek, fitzy_1965, Contesta and myself. All caches found were signed as CBI24 standing for Canberra Invasion of Bathurst in 2024.We had quite a long list of caches that we hoped to find over the weekend, and it is pleasing to note that most of us found all on our own list for today except one that looks as if it has fallen victim to The Winter Festival. After collecting a few in town, the main group concentrated on Peel Reserve in the morning, while others, including me, Youban, and barb2e, followed our own agendas.Huge thanks to all cache owners for the great hides and puzzles that I encountered today. I had a thoroughly enjoyable day, which has left me somewhat weary, so please excuse the generic logs. This was one of the caches that I found and signed.

A weekend of fun with a group of Canberra cachers. The weather was beautiful, cold and clear with little wind and it was a perfect day to be out walking and exploring and enjoying a winter weekend in Bathurst. With the day free to do a spot of geocaching, I went for a drive to Peel to visit the jigsaw puzzle series and to find some of the remaining caches around the area. Pulled up at GZ to a distinctive area, and fortunately found the cache lurking in a familiar geocache hiding spot.

#22650. We appreciated the excellent parking here. The search took some time, and it was looking like a DNF, before Troodles finally called out that she had found the cache. Whew! TFTC.
When we got out of the car, we weren't sure exactly where GZ would be, there were so many places to hide a micro here. We checked out many places without success.
I then checked one more place and bingo, there was the cache, though I found a sistema container not a micro (would have made the search shorter if we knew we were looking for a small sized container.
Thanks for the puzzle, interesting to learn about Ben Chifley and TFTC.

First cache after finding the burial place of Ben's father.
We headed into the flooded eastern states for a week of geocaching fun. The mission was Frying Pan. The only December 2000 placed cache remaining in Australia. All other choices for this month are international. Traveling in style and comfort we selected the next cache on merit and forward movement. Some back tracking was required in the wettest areas. Wildlife seen included a lyre bird, king parrot and a single leech. Mozzies were a pest. Caches were found and signed. Wet logs were wet. Water does that. Numerous TOTTs were employed.
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.
Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

Found on a trip from Adelaide to NSW and back with Freddo.
Our main target was ‘Frying Pan’ in the Chichester State Forest, near Barrington Tops north of Newcastle.
We allowed ourselves a week to travel there and back, taking a circuitous route through Victoria and NSW, camping each night and finding a range of caches of interest along the way.
Rains over the past few months meant a few detours along the way and plenty of water about, restricting access to some caches and camping areas. Many of the roads were quite chopped up with potholes and the mosquitoes were plentiful! But we had a good run with the weather, with just the odd shower, but mostly fine, warm and overcast.
Thanks becon4046 for the puzzle and the cache.

The third day of geocaching with Team Canary, Brewmaker, Noodles21, ziggiau and Rainbow Spirit. For today the focus was on Wattle Flat.
With a few extra solved puzzle caches, the first stop was at the Southern side of Wattle Flat. After finding the answers to the multi in the informative, but run down park, we headed down the trails to collect the 34 NSW attendees. We had no problems with all caches; two caches were not found but with the green light from Joshwa we replaced with a new container.
After morning tea at the nearby Wattle Flat General Store we then drove via Paling Yards to Upper Turon for a few traditionals and the odd puzzle cache, followed by a picnic in Wattle Flat.
Logs were signed with the team name BRINTZ. TFTC!

We have travelled from Sydney’s Northern Beaches to Bathurst for a 9 day holiday, camping in our Jayco Swan Outback Camper Trailer at the Bathurst NRMA Big4 Caravan Park, and plan to collect some caches & Adventure Labs in the Bathurst and surrounding areas.
Today we went on a cache collecting loop drive up Sofala Road, then along Pymonts Lane, and returning to Bathurst via Limekilns Road & Marsden Lane. Took a slight detour, off Sofala Road, for an interesting visit to Peel Cemetery. Finished the day with a few finds around the Kelso area. This was the 13th of 30 finds for the day (day 4), and 63rd find of the holiday.
Another puzzle solved by the family's chief puzzle solver before leaving home, and a reasonably quick find at GZ today. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. Thanks Alwyn255 & Becon4046 for the puzzle & cache.

We had quite a good look here and unfortunately we were unable to claim a smiley for this one
Our only DNF today.

With the COVID19 restrictions lifting, we decided to head to the Bathurst area this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild. Our intention was to attack the TRLT trail and others around the area.
We had a great four days, only a few DNF’s but mostly smiley's, and have left plenty for another adventure. Lovely area to cache in and we look forward to coming back for some more fun and laughs.
Had solved a heap of puzzles prior to our trip up to Bathurst, what else is there to do during lock down. It was nice to be able to finally pick them up.
Thanks for the hide and puzzle Becon4046 & Alwyn255 and thanks Rapidlywild for another great weekend away.

With COVID19 locking everyone down for so long, a MUCH overdue geocaching mission was welcomed. FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided to head towards Bathurst and attack some of the TRLT caches and see how far we can go. Spoke to a few of the CO's prior to heading up to see if we could assist with any maintenance that was required, so we went prepared with some camo containers and some fresh log books. We had a wonderful weekend stretching the legs and enjoying the country side.
Solved a heap of puzzles by Becon4046 & Alwyn255 before heading towards Bathurst. Its great to be able to turn a large number of these solved puzzles into smilie faces
Thanks for the hide becon4046 And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others

We are enabling our caches as travel is now allowed. Please remember that Covid-19 lives for up to 3 days on plastic surfaces. Keep yourself and others safe by using hand sanitiser or gloves.
We are shutting down our caches while the Coronavirus lock-down is in place. We want to protect every finder as current information indicates that the virus can linger on plastic surfaces for up to 9 days. Many caches are near people's homes and we cannot encourage anyone to spread this virus.
Stay safe and heed the doctors advice to stay home if you can.

OCW frazerdaze and marj01. House sitting at White Rock for a week has provided an opportunity to do some geocaching runs around Bathurst - mainly TRLT series indispersed with a number of trads and puzzle caches. During the day we saw lovely scenery, lots of sheep and cattle, a few foxes and one deer in the forestry area. We even encountered fire persons doing a burn off which included two of the caches we were chasing. Please excuse the generic logs and thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches and adding to our enjoyment. For expediency all logs were signed OMF.

Wow, what an area to search!! You almost had me moving on, when I chanced upon something that twigged. A very sneaky hide among all the possibilities! Worth a favourite.
After overnighting in Bathurst, we are looking at some of the TRLT series today.
Yes, we solved this one at home and had an easy find - it was in to open so we hid it "better".

Loved these puzzles in the area. Worked out as many as we could but doubt we will have time to look for them all but we will do our best. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.
Nice quick easy find. Thank you for mystery caches that we could do. It was great to learn things along the way also. Thanks for the cache.
Coords are spot on. Puzzle was fun. I enjoyed solving a large number of puzzles last week after dinner as I’m only starting to get my puzzle legs happening. A few early rookie errors early on meant I’d avoided them largely until recently. Thankyou for the training opportunity! Off to log some more I’d pre solved!
Spent the day outdoors collecting puzzle caches that I had previously solved. Great weather for it as I made my way in and around my new town. A range of interesting puzzles out there to be solved and I'm looking forward to hiding some of my own. The caches I found today were easy enough with the help of my partner. Thanks for the caches

Found as part of a weekend away with Hoojar. We headed up towards Gulgong the first night and camped near the start/ end of TRLT (@ -5 degrees ). The next day we made it through some nice historic places and great rolling countryside to finish up at Sunny Corner after a feed in Bathurst. The next day a few more finds before we headed home. Plenty of roadkill spotted, not many cars and not too much trouble at each cache. Thanks to all those cache hiders .
The opportunity finally arose that Steeba and I both had a free weekend to go caching. We quickly settled upon the northern half of The Road Less Traveled series. We drove to Gulgong via Mudgee after work on Friday, camping just before midnight at the suggested TSR nearby.
Saturday we made our way via the caching trail, and the odd additional cache, to Bathurst for dinner, then back onto the trail to Sunny Corner where we again camped for the evening.
Sunday we turned our heads for home, via a few additional cache stops in Portland and Wallerawang.
A fantastic weekend away, with excellent country to be seen and company to be had. We enjoyed the caches that we found.
Thank you to all of the cache owners, and sorry for the boiler-plate logs!

Staying in Bathurst for a few days, and decided to go out to Hill End and do some caching. Apologise for the generic comments to all CO's of the caches found, but am logging these after returning home and the best way is this way due to the numbers I have to log. Thank you for placing these caches and they brought us out to the countryside where I probably would not have visited if not for geocaching . TFTC
Staying in Bathurst for a few days and having a caching road trip out to Hill End. Lovely countryside and many caches found. Thanks to all the COs.
Further along the long and winding road, we happened upon a shed.
It was a refuge for this cache, snuggled with geological items.
Of course to get here required Baktrak's prodigious puzzle abilities.

We discovered all those many a couple of days ago.
We have solved all the interesting mysteries before we started our trip to the Mid Western Region of NSW.
Day 1
We started the day in Meadow Flat, followed by Sunny Corner and Dark Corner past Palmers Oakley.
We loved the hilly nature along many peaceful Gravel roads. Many smilies were forming on our map.
We finished the day in Bathurst.
Day 2
We started all fresh again in the morning. Leaving Bathurst, we were able to get going about faster along the sealed road.
We reached Sofala at around lunch time. We couldn't believe that about 40,000 used to live here. It really seemed that the city stopped developing in around the 1850's..
We continued towards Hills End and Windeyer through dry grassy land in 47 degrees heat.
We spend such a beautiful night here in Windeyer in the caravan park. We booked one of the train accomodation where you got to stay in the train back in time. What a great experience. We really liked Windeyer as it seemed so far away from all the city rush. Te locals were very welcoming and were happy to see us in the pub next door for dinner.
What a great community living were it seems like everyone knows everyone.
Day 3
We left Windeyer after a big breakfast. We travelled along Hills End Road until we reached the turn towards another Gravel road. There wer many animals to watch and it got even hotter and hotter.
This day ended in Mudgee.
Day 4
We took a look at Mudgee city today were we searched for a couple of caches and ten continued towards Rylstone.
After we continued to the Wollemi National Park which a good friend recommended us to go. Here we climbed on the top of the mountain and simply enjoyed the stunning view and the tranquil nature.
After, we traveled towards Kandos, Capertee, Cullen Bullen, Portland and Wallerawang back home to Sydney.
We hereby would like to thank all owners for this great interesting tour. We got to see many historical places and sometimes felt like as if we were living back in the the 1850's, which is a good thing.
Thanks

Out today with Paul the Hippy. Thanks hippy for driving me around grabbing these caches. We had a great day, even when I got a little grumpy at the end of the day. Woke up after spending the night at medow flats. Had a lovely time finding the ones towards Sunny corner. we even went for a walk and grabbed a few which werent on the series. Got to sunny corner and checked out the old tennis court and dance hall.
After sunny corner we continued to dark corner (great with names out here). Visited acouple of cemeteries and continued down the road until it turned dirt. This was our favourite section oof the series as no cars and felt like we were in the middle of nowhere.
Past Mount horrible we went, thinking why is this called horrible and then onto the tar again. Completed a few puzzles and then back on the series.
Following the black top we went, here the pull offs were better then the second section of the series. Loved the town of Peel, where we grabbed a puzzle and acouple in this series. Got to wattle flat and was exhausted. Had fun with the blackberries in the dead center (NOT). Finally made our way to sofala. Lots of history here and visited another cemetery for a puzzle. Thanks for all the caches, lots of hard work went into these and really enjoyed them. Cheers mr_roo

Mr Roo had solved most of these so it just left me to find them and move onto the next nano / micro on a very busy road. TFTC
Hi there becon4046. We found your cache "Ben Chifley" at 10:37:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 11978.

Today was "Puzzle Day" With all the rain lately we have spent lots of time in the caravan solving puzzles. As this was our last day in Bathurst we just had to go out and log all the ones we have solved - - we have been up and down this road so many times in the last week the car almost knows where to stop all on its own.
Today we ended up logging 18 and (DNF'd 3), although not all the finds were puzzles.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

We looked for this one on a previous trip to Sofala, but couldn't find it then. So I was glad we managed to get it on this trip. I think we only have a few of these 'B' puzzles left now, we have been slowly getting through them.
Thanks

This puzzle was solved a while ago. We had been doing TRLT series all day since its beginning in Mudgee, and it was now getting late in the evening. So, a search in the dark. We spent a little while checking our a few places on the structure, but we had no luck. I was on the verge of giving up, when Toriaz turned the cache up in a spot I had thought less likely. It was good to finally get this one. Thanks
It's always fun to do some puzzles and then to go and find the caches. A nice easy find is a pleasure too. TFTC.
With Rats and the mini rats wanting to use the upcoming Mega as a significant milestone we were starting to look around for some quick numbers when this powertrail popped up. The timing couldn’t have been better and plans were soon hatched for a trip out west.
Teaming up with Mizmaz we had a comfortable 2 day drive through some spectacular countryside and under perfect weather we found this cache and many of the other caches that neighbour this new powertrail.
Thanks for the cache

The mini rats have officially completed our first powertrail. Helping Mizmaz and the Rats we went in search of some quick numbers. We had a lot of fun finding the caches and camping along the way, except for the cold overnight temps in Sofala.
We didn’t sign all the logs as we are using the Melbourne Mega as our 1000th find, but we did enjoy the experience and the beautiful country side. Thanks for the caches and to everyone that hid them.

Bonus detour drive-by while doing TRLT powertrail. Normally don’t include puzzles while on roadtrips with a specific agenda but these were easy enough to do at home and come prepared. Will include a few more in the series when I head to Bathurst end of next month.
