Eve with 2 years unloved on it we could not remove the grass to find this one. Only found one stone.
Today caching and travelling with RoddyC.

We have started our homeward journey from Canberra after the Mega, and after overnighting in Bathurst, and our first of two nights in Armidale, today we hunt high altitude caches. Bald Hills Road circuit is our target.
Tall wet grass got the better of us today.

This one needed a bit longer stop with ilook4geo to find this cache and another smiley to our caching map. The co-ords are good but spotting the camo was a bit more difficult. Ended with a successful hunt. Two more names were noted on the log before all was put back where it had been found. Thank you to groovydoo for placing and maintaining this cache.
Heading out again with goingplaces2 to pick up some more caches. This was one that we found. TFTC.
Absolutely stunning country thank you Groovydoo for encouraging me to stop and let the shower pass and get out and look.
Cache is most likely there....as approaching GZ....i finally understood what you ment by Black Boys....
I AM NOT A FAN OF SNAKES!! He was huge!! About 2metres long. Now I have driven 233kms today on my way from Lismore to Armidale..this might my only chance to get this cache.. .but not taking any chances! I ran back to my GeoMobile and continued on my way....

This is a whole lot further into the bush than you would expect. Very pretty spot once you get to gz. It's nice to see the bush regeneratig or not burnt from last year's fires.
As per usual geohubby found it. Sometimes I think I should just leave him at home. Lol. TFTC
I was on an Australia Day long weekend road trip with Pprime, Fangsoki and 1MinniMoo and we had targeted caches in the area which would help us to qualify for a number of challenges.
Very familiar type of hide for this one. No problem.

With Fangsoki, Crew153 and 1MinnieMoo we have hit the Dorrigo Plateau for the weekend - having arrived up the range we did a quick loop of the area - a quick stop here as we observed the again changing countryside.
Thanks groovydoo for entertaining me at this location.

Long weekend....time to get away. I left Brisbane yesterday after work and eventually made it to Grafton. This morning dawned raining with low cloud cover. This put a damper on my original plans for the day. Instead, I lounged around for a bit and had an extra cuppa or two before setting off. This was my second stop and another quick find. TFTC
Driving towards Grafton I thought we had lots of time up our sleeve to find caches but the road got windy and slow and stopping for some plastic had to take a back seat. This was our last cache because I knew we had to get to our hotel in time for my wife to spend hours at the shops.
We wandered around for a bit before the geosenses kicked in and the cache was found. Now for a few more bends and turns followed by a cold beer (after shopping of course). tftc

There appears to be more than just one.... Blackboy that is. Took a few minutes to find.
Heading North for a short holiday and collecting some caches along the way.

Second stop for the day on my way from Lismore to Uralla. After a few minutes looking, I soon had this one in hand. Nice little stand of Blackboys. Once the log was signed it was back on the road to the next one. Thanks Groovydoo!
GPS had us going in circles but a look at likely spot nearby and a quick find was made. TFTC
Staying around Dorrigo for a few days, camping and geocaching.
Followed a geotrail to within 10 metres of GZ before we spotted a familiar camo.

First find of Day 5 of my Road Trip before my middle son’s eighteenth birthday. Today was a long drive to see my wife’s aunt and then camp with the platypuses!!!
After lunch with my wife’s aunt in Grafton we drive off towards Armidale and this was a chance to stretch the legs and make a quick find.

Driving north along this road heading to Wooli via Grafton we were pleased to find a few geocaches, this being one of them. Thanks for placing it Groovydoo and wishing you a Happy New Year! Cheers!
Parked across the road and walked through the waist high scrub to get to the cache. Made heaps of noise when walking through to make sure no s were hanging around. SL and placed the container back "solid".
Plenty of Blackboys here
Yet searching Googly for the word 'Blackboy' returns a load of racist sites [:o]
We here in Australia love our Blackboys
So why does a search for Yukkas reveal that they are North American plants ??
'Cmon Googly !!
Finally I resorted to what I know best, botanical names
Lets go with the botanical name
Xanthorrhoea !!
There thatt's better
And in the middle of the guardians I soon found this cache

We thought this was going to be frustration central.. but fortunately it wasn't and even though a micro was on offer it wasn't unreasonably hard to find. We did use the hint first up. Thanks groovydoo.
Each year I like to get out of Brisbane for a week or so around my birthday in September. This year I decided to plan a road trip which would take myself, Captain Terror and catscatcat22 on a 2700km loop of southern Queensland and northern New South Wales. We were gone from the 18-24 September and visited Dalby, Miles, Tara, Surat, St. George, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Coonabarabran, Tamworth, Uralla, Armidale, Maclean, Yamba then came home following the coast road.
This was the 91st cache for me for the trip. As we hopped out of the car we spotted a bouncing rabbit, dashing into his burrow. We left him alone and continued on towards GZ. When we arrived Captain Terror spotted the container out of the corner of his eye. We signed our names in the logbook and headed back to the car without seeing anymore rabbits. Thanks for the cache groovydoo.

For Net88’s birthday this year, she, Captain Terror, and I went on a road trip of awesomeness, taking us out west from Brisbane.
A total of six days, our whirlwind adventure took us West through Dalby, Miles, Tara and Surat, and then South through Lightning Ridge (the farthest West I’d been!). Then we’d continue South through Walgett, Pilliga, Baradine, and Coonabarabran to Tamworth. Then it was through Uralla to Armidale, and Maclean to Yamba, and finally back to Brisbane.
We saw kangaroos, emus, baby emus, kookaburras, giant guitars, so many sunsets, and so many snacks, thanks to the help of Snackman.
A nice holiday from work, it was also a great excuse to pick up geocaches along the way.

From 18 to 24 September, Net88, catscatscats22 and I embarked on a road trip to see some different parts of Australia. We drove from home in Brisbane to Dalby, Miles, Tara, Surat, St. George, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Coonabarabran, Tamworth, Armidale, Yamba and home again, a drive of over 2700 kilometres, a few nights camping and 122 geocache visits to guide us along the way.
This was a surprising little find. I managed to park us across the road and we walked over. Upon our approach a rabbit shot off and ducked into a log. He hid in there and we decided not to disturb him now safely back home - even if feral. Onwards we marched between the xanthorrhoea towards GZ. As it indicated a few metres I caught the geocache container in the corner of my eye. It's a usual disguise and likely tricky for a new geocacher, but I guess I've seen enough of them it may as well have a neon sign pointed at it. All in good condition here and no more bunnies to be seen. Thanks for this geocache, groovydoo

Out caching today on my way home and determined to find this one this time. Turned out an easy find. Both times I have come here I have seen evidence of stolen grass trees leaving an empty hollow scar in the soil. So sad.

Didn't find this but didn't have details on me either, so not sure what looking for. Know better now but will have to wait for another trip.
Found the cache, signed the log then spent a lot of time studying the grass trees and photographing other plants. I thought we knew the location of most blackboys on this road but I was wrong.

Number three of my big day out. Wasn't too sure what a Blackboy was so took pictures and looked them up in Wikipedia. Now I know that it's a grasstree or Xanthorrhoea.
Found the cache quite easily, groovydoo, thanks so much. TNLN but geocoins visited.

Those blackboys will be wonderful when they grow - love to see them in flower. Thanks for location and the cache.
Some searching in the vegetation soon uncovered the cache. Lovely settings for these caches.
After dropping our caravan at Dangar Falls Camping area its off to do the circuit.
A great Saturday morning drive, so glad we decided to do I as soon as we arrived as rain has set in this afternoon. Great country views & such a variety of caches to be found.
Had to have a second look in the hole to find it.

Found at 3:52 PM GAFF1. With all of the burning off that is going on around here, I think that these Xanthorrhoea are really going to be black boys
There were interesting purple flowers all around GZ - wonder what they are?
Thanks groovydoo.

Well after the initial excitement of finding the neat grove of blackboys we spent way too much time looking for this cache. A nearby bushfire added to our unease and we were about to call it quits. We knew where it should be and one last look reaped the reward. TFTC.
last one. still wet and cold could be some white powder falling out this area if it stays this cold tonight.sl.tftc back home to the fire, try to thaw out.
We tried to ignore these new unfound caches as we really didn't have time to travel to them but then we thought 'night caching' and headed out. We may regret this lack of sleep tomorrow but never a FTF. Found at 8.45pm. TFTC groovydoo.
