We have a small team travelling to The Yorke Peninsula from Canberra. It was decided by the group before we left that our team name would be DTY, although I act like the boss, I rarely am and so the initials actually stand for - dty73, Tankengine & Youban.
Today the team decided that it was a “tourist day” and we would go have a look around a small part of the peninsula to see what there is. But of course like true geocachers we couldn’t help taking a caching route as we went. We ended up getting a lot more than we expected, but we did have a good time.
Nice wattle trees around. Luckily I don’t get hay fever. But today we found no cache today.

On a caching trip with Dty73 & Tankengine to Yorke Peninsula. Team signed as DTY. Four pairs of eyes but no cache. Kutgw
Was down in Minlaton with LLL51 to watch the football grand final and we decided to get a few caches before heading back to Moonta. [^]
Could not find anything at GZ and it wasn't until we got home that we read previous logs and noted new coordinates...will now have to come back for another look.
Thanks for the cache clan greenwood.

After a rough night at Port Rickaby we headed off very early for breakfast at Minlaton to begin day 2 of our rest, relaxation and rejuvenation week, with caches chucked in, just a few here as we are hoping to get the fishies series finished today. TFTC
Despite our best efforts, we could not find anything here today.
With that being said, we were on a quest for big numbers, and so did not always spend the time searching that we may otherwise have committed, so the cache may actually be still here.
Oh well, there is always next time!

We had no luck finding your cache today. It may or may not be there, today it was too good for us.
Found this with CherryRose after South Australian Rural Women’s Gathering. Took a few moments with new coordinates. Not at ground level. TFTC TNLNSL
Found out with Beary Organised after end of the RWG. In good condition Co-ords spot on, not low. Good to get a smiley as was a DNF 3 years ago. TFTC TNLNSL

Day 2
Start at Gone Fishin 645 and end at Warooka. Day went that well, we done that plan and then cached our way back up to Minlaton before dark.
Found with sharkiefan
A Big week was planned to travel around South Australia, staying in Minlaton, Tarlee and Adelaide. We cache along a number of Trails, managed to grab a few off the beaten track, some well known caches and the odd one that
came up on the map as we were travelling around.
It ended up being a massive week of 2960 odd kilometers travelled, with day find counts of 25, 256, 361, 318, 66, 205, 104 and 76 (yep thats 1411 for the 8 days)
1062 micro, 238 small, 60 Regular, 45 large, 3 Virtual and 3 Other.

Found with FUF009.
Based in Minlaton for a few days to have a hack at the Gone Fishn' series, I found 250 caches today. We headed towards Warooka from Minlaton collecting the series and whatever else was along the way.
Once we'd gotten to the bottom of the trail we went around the coast and did whatever else we wanted in our free time.
We found that this section went a lot faster than expected so the extra caches were a bonus.
Highlites of the day for me was collecting 2 years of unloved on a multi and seeing the ocean.
An enjoyable day.
Thanks to all the COs for placing the caches. Nothing was wrong with them unless stated at the start of my log.
The Yorke Peninsula is a marvelous playground for geocachers and indeed we met more than one local along the way who knew what we were up to and very friendly too.
Fabulous.

Apologies for the generic log.

Found by Mary & David at 1545. Our last one for the day, and the rain has held off for the afternoon. Good to be able to turn our June 2015 DNF into a smiley with the alternative coordinates. Our thanks to clan greenwood.
We had found a number of caches along the Minlaton Scenic Trail during previous visits but this cache had eluded us. Since our last visit the cache has been replaced and the coordinates updated. Today we went to try again. This time accurate coordinates led to a quick find of a well designed and presented cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. We can finally cross this one of our watch list. Thanks clan greenwood for this cache and the series.
Staying at the caravan park. Wandered around town on the walking trail; this was one of the stops. Thanks for the hide.
Clever geohusband finally spotted this after using Hurtle's coords. Bigger than expected and great camo! Found on a fun caching weekend in beautiful Yorkes TFTC
Easy find if you go to the correct coordinates. Found during a 10 day stay on the Yorke Peninsula. Lovely area. TFTC clan greenwood. Found 11/10/17 4:52 pm. Cache 1375 for us.
~~~~~
Found and logged using the brilliant Cachly app for iPhone. Easy to use and with many great features for cachers of all levels.
Today we explored Minlaton using Geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way and this was one of them. An easy find at GZ.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
Luckily had seen a log with the better coords. Found the cache 20m away, as everyone else has too.
Many have commented on the bad coords, maybe time to adjust them online?
Day Twelve of our holiday, BettyBoo3747 and I are dashing down the Yorke Peninsula for a bit of maintenance. We seemed to do a lot of TOY Run caches, but it is not everyday that you get large size caches all in a row!
We drove down the east coast from Moonta to Edithburgh, then back up the centre.
We had looked for this one a couple of years ago unsuccessfully.
Today we had the different co-ords as mentioned in the logs, and it was a quick find.
Thanks, Robmc.
#11781. Day 12 of our SA holiday. As the forecast for the Yorke today was for rain, sun, showers, wind and all of the above several times over in whatever order you like to think up, we decided a caching day was in order as it wasn't going to be any good for kayaking or snorkelling or cycling. We started at Moonta and went as far as Edithburgh for Rob to do a maintenance check and then back up through Yorketown etc to home. Collected a nice little bounty of 36 smiles with a couple of DNF's thrown in for good measure.
Apparently we have visited this one before for a DNF. I don't recall it at all. Today, armed with some different coordinates we added our names to the log.
Thanks clan greenwood
Went looking for this cache during our summer holiday in Port Vincent. Maybe I was getting frustrated and not looking for as long as I normally would after a few other DNFs in Minlaton today, but this one escaped me. Thanks for the hunt.
It was getting hot in the midday sun as I rode around towne today
I was feeling flakey [:o)]
So where's this tree ??
I couldn't wander to GZ there was a fence and ditch in the way !! [:o]
It seemed more likely the cache was along the scenic trail
Allowing for the flakey coordinates,
the neatly disguised cache was found a short distance from the 'gate'
Suscoe was heading northwards today in convoy with Phetlern as our time in Marion Bay had come to an end.
We started the finds at Brentwood, then to Minlaton and then on to Maitland before picking up a couple of caches along the road to Port Wakefield.
It was a sunny day with a good range of caches found along the way.
The roads were quiet today which made for easy stops along the roads and around the towns.
Thanks to clan greenwood for this cache, an amazing town with a terrific layout of roads and parkland.
Travelling in good company with Suscoe and relocating our base from Marion Bay to Port Wakefield, provided us many opportunities to stop, stretch and add a smiley, or two, to our geo-map. We parked one car & caravan in town and explored the cache rich Minlaton area.
We looked very carefully at the posted co'ords, after a time we looked at previous logs and discovered there was a change of co'ords made on 17/04/2016. The cache page should be updated to reflect the change. Image added.
Our thanks to clan greenwood for placing this cache.
We came to Yorke Peninsular with Speedmistress who hails from Queensland to cache our little hearts out and this we are doing.
We solved loads of puzzles prior to coming and with all the earth, multi, trads and puzzles there are here we were never lacking in variety.
When we found caches that needed repair we have done our best to do what was possible, unfortunately we have now rum out of spare containers, so no more repairs can be done. We have enjoyed the scenery, the walks, the animal life and the challenges that was encountered while traveling the Peninsular. Not all the caches have been attempted due to time restraints but those have been earmarked for future visits.
We also would like to thank Speedmistress for supplying our geocaching chariot.
A huge thanks to all the cache owners for placing these caches for us to enjoy.
Travelled from Queensland to meet up with Muff1 for a Geocaching extravaganza on the beautiful Yorke Peninsular. Our goal to Cache, Cache and Cache. Each day our "finds" have been growing in number, some days more productive then others. We have also been careful to take time to appreciate the natural wonder of the areas we have visited. A big thank you to all of the dedicated Cache placers who have made this possible.
Writing a note to let cachers know of the change to the co-ords, as of 5th March 2016.
We were give permission from the CO to replace this cache, as time is very precious to her at the moment. The original hide has been destroyed and is now a little further down the walking track.
You are looking for a camoed tube - cache size: small.
The CO will update the cache page when time permits, but for now the new co-ords are:-
Hi there clan greenwood.
We found your cache **"Minlaton Scenic Trail - Flakey Tree"** at 10:15:00 AM today.
This was our 2nd find for the day and this makes our find count 13702.
Penny wanted to go to Minlaton, so our cache run today started at a random there. We then navigated to the one the GPS said was next closest etc, & ended up finding 16 & DNFing 2 today.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** Container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.
Camped at Minlaton, and on our own today, as Konie had to make a start on returning home.
picking up other caches along the way.
Many spots it could be and unfortunately unable to find.
We did locate x2 garbage bags full of cans and bottles so was a bit of a clean up cache event lol but unfortunately with no cache.
We have been getting way to many DNF in the top end of Yorke Peninsular. We hope this is not going to continue as we go to the tip.
TFTC Anyway.
Day four of the short holiday with Bettyboo3747.
Travelled from Port Vincent to Edithburgh (Sultana Point actually) via Minlaton.
I suspect the Flakey Tree is a bit more Flakey than it should be.
No cache for us here today.
Thanks, Robmc.
We had a look for this one last Monday on our way to Point Turton, but our indicated GZ was wandering around quite a bit and our search was unsuccessful. Had another look this afternoon, and our indicated GZ this time was rock-solid at a fallen tree that was one of our possibilities last week, on the left and close to the start of the path. The tree seems to have toppled fairly recently and, if it was the "Flakey Tree", the cache could be anywhere now. Our thanks anyway to clan greenwood.
After Sorceysal and I finished the fish series in 2 1/2 days, we decided to head to Maitland and beyond to grab a few more caches in a more relaxed day, without the haste. Tess the geodog also enjoyed the heaps of walks today, and the great variety of hides.
This was a great little series with some clever and varied hides.
Thanks again clan greenwood
Day 6 of our epic and memorable road trip. After completing the fish series in 2 1/2 days it was time to head further north for a relaxing day. A lot of walks and good company made for a pleasing day of caching.
So.... I am visiting Adelaide for work on Monday, as normal brisal5 and I decide to attempt some geocaches.... we were going to find some geoart but oops we got distracted along the way finding a huge variety of other geocaches instead. Not as many numbers but lots more fun. thank you to all the cache owners for putting out so many great caches on the Yorke Penninsula. Apologies for the generic logs but my notes were useless, and my memory also not so good.
Plan A: A weekend to YP with mogni to do some geo-art caching. Of course we just had to stop and break the drive. Okay..time to go to Plan B. Cache till lunch, then go and start the geo-art and finish it in the morning. So after lunch in Minlaton. Plan C: Cache around Minlaton, go to our overnight digs in Hardwicke Bay and up early for the geo-art. Yep flaky it is. Quick spy for mogni right in front of my eyes. How did I not see that. Thanks clan greenwood.
Found on Geo hunt drive with desertfox41 from Vincent C/P. Magic day, TNLNSL. Thanks .
While staying at the Port Vincent Foreshore Caravan Park went out Geocaching with Demon41 TNLN thanks clan greenwood
It took me a few minutes to find it. Good hide.
Thanks clan greenwood for the cache
Out for another day of caching on the York with Alansee and Micaparamedic.
our second in this series and this one took a bit longer to locate. Nice hide in a nice area and even nicer to have our names in the log.
To save room in the logs we signed as M.A.C.( Micaparamedic Alansee and Team Crackers).
Another day on the Yorke Peninsula with alansee and Team Crackers for our assault on the Yorke Peninsula. Most logs have been signed as MAC. Some really interesting hides made for an enjoyable experience. Had a great day, thanks so much clan greenwood for placing the cache.
Staying down here with the family for a few days & dashed out while the sun stayed out, Thanks got the cache
Found with Monniecakes on way to Butlers Beach. Nice cache construction a favourite point from us. TFTC.
Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring South Australia after having attended Oz Mega.
Today we had to move house (caravan) from Coobowie to Minlanton so only attempted some multi's near Coobowie before we headed off.
With very mixed results we hit the road Jack! On arrival at Minlanton we dumped the vans and headed for Point Turton. Having seen some of the 50th birthday clan earlier in the week we were disappointed to have been too early for these caches but a return trip saw us knock these over today at high tide.
Quick grab on the way through.
The Parrot went for a drive around Yorkes for a couple of days and this was one of the many caches I found along the way.
Todays journey was from Yourke town to Maitland.
We collected caches along the highway & venturing off to some of the country roads for others.
