We continued today our tour of several AUS states in the NorthWest and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Earth-Cache.The weather was - said in one word simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood. The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The answers were sent. Thanks to Moneybox for the generation of this nice cache Tracking The Past (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they happened.Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood. Just loved this spot. The guy giving us the tour was really excellend, full of information and he made it so interesting with all the bits of info.
After a lovely walk around this amazing landscape to find the trad, we tried to find the answers to this earthcache. We didnt head into the exhibition and couldnt find all the information on the outside/free section, so some of this was gleaned off fact sheets. Thanks for the cache.
Found with silverfox1970 and firebatman88 during our day out in the local area. Lovely area. Would come back for sure. TFTEC.
Visited your earthcache, it's very interesting to see. Worth going there. Answers sent. fav from me Thanks, Moneybox for the Earthcache.
What a fabulous place, stunning scenery and footprints so unique they don't exist anywhere else in the world.
Day 17Once we had packed up camp and ate some surprise Birthday cake before 8 am we set off for Winton after saying our farewells to our partners in crime for the last week.We took the long trip out to the stampede with the Cruiser handling the gravel track beautifully. Once there we booked into the next session and waited patiently to finally see the footprints. An interesting video was watched on the history of the area before we finally got to see the preserved imprints under cover. Just wow!!!Once our 1 hour tour is as over we searched for the answers which some we knew from the tour before heading back to Winton and our accommodation for the night.Answers sent. Thanks Moneybox for the earthcache placement.
What an amazing sight! So glad we trekked out here to see these prints. And the scenery was similarly impressive.Answers sent. Thanks for find #4823TNLN
Enjoyed the tour. Outnabout for some solo caching while camping in town overnight. We’re taking the roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. It’s always a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

We are off on a trip to the Birdsville Races and then across to Queensland - the plan is for about 6 weeks of travel - all going well.
Week 1 we have travelled from Portland to Farrell's Flat near Clare.
Week 2 was Clare to Port Augusta.
Week 3 Port Augusta to Birdsville.
Week 4 Birdsville to Normanton
Day 31 and we are in Winton - today we headed out to Larks to see the dinosaur stampede - pretty cool indeed.

Today was our final day on the dinosaur triangle and we went out to see the stampede. It's amazing the dedication involved with studying and preserving this site. I was amazed at the number of individual dinosaurs they counted.
Thanks for putting this earth cache together

Thanks Moneybox for the earthcache here in this wonderful spot. It was even more amazing than I thought it would be. A memorable visit indeed.
This was one of the highlights of our outback qld trip. We after being fascinated in the actual stampede, my offsider and I decided to do the longer walk (note to self remember to tell the local employees not just a distant relative - this is remote bushwalking after all).
The walk was one of the most beautiful I've done over the years. So many colours to look at, so many photo opportunities, didn't even notice the time passing, it took us around an hour to get back to the visitor center where we were certainly glad to fill up our water bottles again. Had lunch and went back up to spend some money and gather the rest of the information i needed for this cache. Sadly between then and now (3 months later doing a late log in July) i have misplaced the answers but will press on and see what I remember. Yet another fav point awarded on this trip. Good job I'll replenish the amount at Mega next week.

We spent the night at Long Waterhole and, after brekky in town, headed out here to have a look. We had missed the start of the tour but didn't want to wait around for the next one so jumped in halfway and got to hear all about this amazing place. The footprints were like nothing I had expected. Such an amazing find here. Answers have been sent. Thanks for the cache
After many years of dreamingly looking at this cache on the map I finally made it here.
Thanks to wayn0 persistent requests for a weekend in Mt Isa.
Camped at the waterhole in Winton and set out here in the morning.
A mind blowing experience seeing the tracks and learning the history.

Today was Day 2 of our dinosaur expedition. Again, the visit was enhanced by the focus questions in the EC.
It was great to have the interpretative presentation without which we would have understood and noticed just a fraction of the features on site. Thanks for helping direct our attention!

We’re normally overseas at this time of the year but COVID has us exploring our own backyard and the Dinosaur Trail in the last week of school holidays .
We thought the rains might have meant that the road was closed but we had no issues. Interesting location that we just had to visit while we were relatively close.

Last full day in Winton today and we headed south to do a few caches. Oh and to see the Lark Quarry dinosaur stampede monument. Road trip down to the quarry was exciting with corrugations and dirt patches, but kids just think that stuff is exciting. Go faster dad. We took the even longed scenic route returning to Winton, observing the 3 sisters formation, among other things. The exhibition was really well done, with a great tour guide. Very impressive stuff. We then went for a short walk around the facility to a lookout. Thanks very much for this great Earthcache. A favourite point from us. Cheers
I really wanted to see these traces and first they said there is everything booked out and then suddenly they had a free date for us.

We cheked out the dinosaur stampede. I do not blame them for being afraid of the big hungry predator. I gathered the information and have sumbitted my answers. Love caching around Winton.
TFTC. We had ventured out to Lark Quarry today to see the Dinosaur Trackway. We had visited year about 5 years ago before caching. The guide at the time was not terribly inspiring and left us disappointed. Today was different. There were caches to find. The guide was a lot better than the last time and we came away satisfied that the drive out and back was worth it. Got all the required information. A well deserved favourite from us.

On the day we arrived in Winton the 2nd Big wet had been over for two days. The road out to here was closed to all traffic. The next day the road was open as far as here. Closed beyound here to Jundah.
We were the first car in to here today. There were only 4 of us on the 0930 Tour. Very good spot to visit and to look and to listen to the history.
It is worth the 110k drive to have a look at this piece of history as it is the only known site of its kind in the world.

Great spot to visit and thanks for setting up this EC here. Our enthusiastic guide was excellent and with only four on the tour we had plenty of time for explanations and questions. After leaving the centre we came back the long way via the Cork Mail Rd. TFTC Moneybox. Found 19/9/18 11:30 am. Cache 1590 for us.

I camped beside that corrugated road about 10 km before Lark Quarry, so arrived early and was fascinated at looking at the exhibits. I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and was amazed at how much the scientists are able to deduce from footprints. TFTC Moneybox
I really enjoyed my visit to Lark Quarry - well worth the drive and I recommend it to anyone. After taking the tour, I did the short walk to grab the nearby cache. then the longer walk around the jump-up, which provided some great views around the area. Thanks moneybox for the earthcache and your prompt response to my emailed answers. A favourite point from me.
Found this area about 4 years ago, when on a bush safari with the forensic police to raise money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Answers sent to CO. We were actually following the dinosaur trail, from Clermont, Muttaburra, to here. It was amazing for the amount of work put in to excavate and protect the findings here. TFTC Moneybox.
day 3 of our little Central Western Queensland camping trip
continuing our little bit of the dinosaur trail
this was a definite planned stop ... well I had planned a maintenance visit to my cache anyway
Re-visited the Australian Age of Dinosaurs this morning,
then high tailed it out here to do the Trackways tour.
I have visited the site a number of times, but it was a first for the reluctant partner,
who enjoyed the visit too
Collected the required information for the EC questions
... then did the short walk to my cache (already too hot to do the longer walks)
All good
Answers to be sent to the CO directly
thanks for the EC
will get a favourite if I get a pass mark
cheers

Had a great time at the Alice Mega and now on the homeward stretch so still looking for caches along the way. Coongoola may sign small log sheets as CG if there's not much room.
What a brilliant display and so well presented.

Enjoyed the tour and spinifex walk. Saw fossilised footprints in Texas once, but these are much better. Thanks Moneybox.
What a wonderful location for an earth cache. We did the tour of Lark Quarry, so worth it. We enjoyed collecting the data needed to complete the cache. Thanks to Moneybox for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area. Fav point alloc.
Lark Quarry is a fascinating place! Our tour guide was excellent. Dinosaur are creatures that enthralled people of all ages. Thanks for this EC.
Was pleased that the roads had opened up and that we were able to add this place to our 2016 dinosaur adventure. Had a great time looking at the footprints and also thoroughly enjoyed doing the 3.5 km circuit walk. This area is just looking so amazing after all the recent rainfall. Answers will be emailed to CO soon. TFTC. (The tour leader saw me with my questions and said "Ah I love it, you are doing one of those things!")
Day five of our trip around the outback dinosaur trail.
Have been to Lark Quarry before, but didn't do the long walk that time - it's a must! Amazing country. Also, the sign says it takes 2.5 hours but we did it in 1.5 with five kids under 10. Tftc

Out with the family on a dinosaur adventure and along the way we found some hidden treasure thanks for the detour in Winton. Drove out to the dinosaur stampede today and WOW!!! what a location Thanks Moneybox, I really enjoyed the history lesson and the outback tour.
Spent the afternoon here in this amazing place. The heavens opened up for a spectacular display of rain and lightening on our way back the long drive. Made for some good photos! TFTEC!
What a special place this is. We try to imagine what this must have been like 95 million years ago. Lush and tropical - quite different from today.
Thanks heaps Moneybox.
Thanks heaps Moneybox.
Visited Lark Quarry with the family while on a road trip to Western QLD.
Such an amazing place. It is hard to fathom that what we are looking at is 95 million years old.
Will definitely be back.

Heading to Alice Springs from Central Victoria taking the long way. I have visited Winton on a number of occasions and have enjoyed each time. This is my third visit to Lark Quarries and I am amazed each time I am there. I have recently returned from a visit to Michigan where I had the priviledge of visiting the Earth Science Museum at the U of M to view a cast of a mammoth trackway but the dinosaur trackway at Lark Quarry is more impressive. The drive out took about an hour over a mix of bitumen and dirt roads. The sunwas belting down and it became quite hot but that didn't stop me from exploring some of the walks after participating in the trackway tour. Thanks moneybox for bringing me out here again.
