long over-due maintenance visit by Etherlord.
The plants at the side of the track here have grown significantly in the couple of years since this cache was placed, and GZ is no longer as accessible as it once was.
Will disable this one for now until Etherlord can locate a new GZ

Looked for on a club cycle ride from Palmerston North, Bunnythorpe, Ashhurst and return. With quite some evidence of recent flooding we only had a cursery look. TFTC
Definitely gone - found the hint object with a nice gap underneath but no cache or covering object in the only place it could be.
Floods during week means would need togs and snorkle to get to. Try again another day.
Took a stroll with friends and their children to introduce a newbie to the wonderful world of geocaching, made the mistake of not reading up on the caches as a friend who was with us had done the trail before...... turns out alot had changed since she had been, so not a great start but was an enjoyable walk all the same and the kids loved it ill be back another day to get the ones we missed.
Certainly worthy of its terrain rating and i have the bruises to prove it !

The last for today running out of light and a long walk back to the car until next time TFTC
Thought this might be a little tricky with the long grass but soon located this well hidden cache. tftc
Surprisingly quick find, I was expecting a bit of a struggle with this one. Good hide. Great trail on a winter's morning. Thanks for the cache!
Was driving past with the bike on the back so thought I would give this trail a go. Found with the help of the clue. TFTC
Very very wet and soggy log. It was not sealed in the plastic bag. Well hidden as the spot was very overgrown.
I had decided that it was time to get the bike off the back of the caravan and have a bit of a ride and sign off a few caches. So it was down to Ashhurst to cycle along the bank of the Manawatu River.
Cheers for the cache.

maintenance visit by Etherlord on his day off.
Cache is in good condition although log is starting to get a bit damp.

I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.
I joined up with yorkshirekiwi83 again today for another day of caching, before our flight out this evening. We started the day picking up a few caches around the city, before heading out to Bunnythorpe and back down to Ashhurst, where we then went for a walk along this Riverside Cycleway. This cache was a nice quick find, following the detailed hint. TFTC!

Vistra and I had headed down to to Manwatu for the weekend, we both wanted a high number weekend and I was looking forward to meeting some of the locals as well.
Thank you to all the CO's for their placements some nicely placed, clever and tricky hides, so a great variety. TFTC

#7608. Teamed up with Yeetrees to do some caching on a sunny Sunday in Ashhurst. We parked off Napier Road and walked along the Bridal Path (now called the Manawatu River Pathway), and exited at Raukawa Road. We only met one couple walking their dog along the entire track. There were however many groups of cyclists enjoying the beautiful track.
GZ was all quiet when we arrived. Yeetrees made the quick find. The cache was in reasonably good condition. Although the log book was a bit damp, it was good to write on. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Missed this one the other week, didn't seem to have it downloaded. Good to locate, now I can file a way these codes until such a time they make sense to me.
Thank you for the extra hint it was the place I looked last time but obviously didn't look good enough tftc

Cache is still in place and in good condition, found exactly where is should be.
Given that so many people are having problems with its location, I will add more details to the hint.

I noticed tonight how many DNFs have been logged: Far too many without action from the co-CO.
With this in mind, I took off on an after-dinner emergency maintenance run with the intention of replacing this one and be back home in time for supper.
I was cycling along the track admiring the fantastic work the council (/contractors?) have done in repairing the path surface after July's flooding had scoured it out, when I arrived at my personal favourite cache of the series. That is a problem, because it is well past GZ of the target cache!
I pulled out my GPS and found that I had indeed cycled straight past my intended destination, to the tune of 750m
The sliverlining is that given that I was so close to RC:Start, I decided to turn the return trip into a full-on maintenance run of the whole series rather than just on this one cache. Supper would just have to wait...
After completing the series, I got back to the car having lost the last lumens of daylight at about the second to last cache, and started heading home. I had just got back on to the main road when my eyes widened and an expletive escaped my lips; I had cycled straight past this cache *again*! The one cache I had specifically come out to do and I missed it not once, but twice! [:(!]
EtherLord? Try EtherIdiot!
Being that it was then far too dark to turn around and remedy my nincompoopedness before anyone found out about it, the replacement container is now sitting on my bedside table and will be joining EtherLady in laughing at me until I manage to re-revisit GZ in a few days time...

I'm only losing my marbles because I put some of my stocks of them in the replacement container as swag... [B)]
Add my name to the growing list of dnf's. Maybe it was the lush spring growth, maybe it was the flood debris. Maybe it was both... Maybe it needs maintenance?
looked for ages for this... climbed in, under ,over around all the debris and bushes but no luck ...maybe its not there ....it would be good to know thanks
This was the only DNF for the day....searched for quite a while here but cache was not to be seen by me today.
Got here and decided it may have been lost in flooding. But was right where it should be.
Think I have confused myself between this one and another one.
One of them I can't remember!!
TFTC though

Despite the recent flooding, the cache is exactly where it should be and in good condition! ...but getting to GZ is a bit tricky.
There is a significant amount of debris as you approach GZ, however a tree trunk has shielded GZ from being covered over.
Description has been updated regarding this.

Despite being a co-CO on this cache, I have not actually logged my find in the logbook.
Given that today is a dot day, and I am holding the cache in my hands, I will claim a find

not my day as this was another dnf. You can definitely see where the flood waters got to.
Now that had to be the flukeiest (if that's such a word) find in my geocaching history while out on a mother's day walk. TFTC
Getting a little ahead of myself as I've just realised I dated the log as the 11th instead 10th.

I followed the geo trail once I got close. And a little bit of clambering and there it was all n its black glory. This was the furtherest one. For us today. thank you for th cache.
The vegetation has died back considerably since my last visit; it was a straightforward march to the hide today. Thanks for the smiley, Tom.
Took a little more searching for this one.
Was in the most obvious place tho

Logbook bag was a bit tatty and had holes, so I replaced it with a shiny new one. TFTC.
Out on a short road trip with tmann421 on Waitangi Weekend.
Enjoyed this series of good caches which we walked.

As the hemlock is now head-high I decided to give this one a miss for now. I'll return in the autumn when the vegetation dies back and the mozzies no longer rule.
A nice easy one, had to wait for a few muggles who were out and about for this one
[green] Maintenance trip with Etherlord and the Etherkids. Man, the vegetation has grown and overgrown! This cache is all good, lots of room in the log. Enjoy!
A Sunday in Palmy, how lucky could you get. And a perfectly fine, cloudless, windless day to boot. Too good to be true. Decided on a visit to Ashhurst. The Riverside cycle series of caches were the main objective for the afternoon.
We enjoyed a very pleasant walk riverside, finding caches and munzees (a very munzee rich zone this one!).
Straightforward find. Cache in order; log signed, safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

8:46:00 AM. Home for a week to catch up with the family. Out for a look around Palmy and catch up on a few caches. They have certainly sprung up in the last last 3 years since we were last back. Out for a numbers day and what better place than a nice walk beside the river. It was fairly sheltered here and few muggles around. A great series but we don't know what the clues are for. TFTCSL
Found this one in the first spot I looked after spotting a likely hiding spot.

I found this cache in the only place I looked, although I nearly didn't check there as it didn't seem to fit the theme.
Found with no problems, on our way in. Sky getting a bit black, must press on. Hup hup!
Leant on the hide before deciding perhaps I should check this obvious site and there it was.
After work decided that I needed a good walk so walked in from Ruakawa Rd and cached all the way back to the car, Thanks for putting this trail together
