We continued today our tour of several AUS states in the NorthWest and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Earth-Cache.The weather was - said in one word simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood. The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The answers were sent. Thanks to Moneybox for the generation of this nice cache Fossil Fever (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they happened.Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood. Yesterday we visited the The Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum near Winton. It was a fascinating place to visit. However our exploration of the area was restricted as the temperature was in excess of 40C. We were able to collect information for this earthcache and answers to the questions have been sent to the CO. A photo recording our visit is included with this log. Thanks Moneybox for another interesting earthcache - it earns a favourite from us.
While on a trip to western qld to see the big red bash we dropped off here on the way home. Such and interesting museum with such amazing finds. Thanks so much for bringing us here.
We had a great couple of days in Winton and thoroughly enjoyed our dinosaur experience Answers sent to CO TFTC and another favourite from us
While staying at the Long Water hole went out and visited the area. Did the interesting tour and got some answers which I will send on soon. Thanks for this EC.
Had an interesting visit to the centre. We only did 2 of the tours as we had dogs with us. A great deal of information. This place will be awesome in another 10 years with all their plans.Answers have been sent for me and kiwisteve2. Thanks for bringing us here. Next to nothing is available outside of the tours at this point.Tftc
Out and about today exploring Winton with Grannan55. What an amazing tour we had today. A great place to visit.
Had a bite to eat in Winton before heading to Longreach for the night. Spotted this earthcache and we all agreed we had to stop and have a look for fossils. On the way in and return trip spotted camels grazing on trees near the road. First (and last) camels we saw other than what was popped into a pie crust and curried at Birdsville. Footnote, we found out camel meat is from South Aust and not local!!What a popular spot!! We had to park the car a fair way back. And there is plenty of space to explore without tripping over each other. Grabbed most of the answers walking around and took a few snap shots, including a distorted pickie of Banjo ready to bite my head off.Logging with permission of the CO. Thanks Moneybox for a unique earthcache and a FP for your efforts.
A nice little detour. Shame our timeline is so tight or we could have spent more time here. Answers will be sent soon! TFTC!
Felt like a kid again. I was fascinated by dinosaurs then, and I still am now! TFTEC. What an amazing set up out here!
Found with silverfox1970 and firebatman88 during our trip to Winton. Had a great time completing the tours here and they were SOOOO informative. Very glad we organised tours and were able to come out here. Answers sent to CO and logged with permission.
I must've forgot to log this one! Great day out and very interesting. Answers sent. This cache really earned a fav piont. TFTEC
Visited the Age of Dinosaurs Museum today and joined a tour of the Collection Room, The Dinosaur Canyon, March of the Titanosaurs and the Fossil Preparation Lab.What an amazing experience in a truly stunning setting. Collected most of the info from the tours and added a little research once back at the caravan. Answers sent to CO.Have a FP from me.
I visited this area on the recent QOGM tour. We drove out here for the day and a little further beyond just because. It was super hot out here, I can see why the dinosaurs died off, wow it is just out of winter too. It was nice to check out the place but it was nicer to be back in the aircon of the car. This place is really a must do and an amazing area. Despite the heat I did enjoy walking around and checking out the displays. The amazing thing of here for me is the not knowing of what else maybe out there, it is such a vast area. Thank you for the cache here.
Looking for something to fill in time whilst not studying, it was suggested that I finally get around to logging THOSE caches long found but never logged. Some even have funny stories of being visited not only once or twice, but a few even have had a third or fourth visit before realising I've been there done that. The date is as near to the correct day the cache was found. So sorry for the generic and late log.JABs.
This was a brilliant outdoor museum with really interesting facts. So thrilled to finally see the dinosaurs found in the Winton area.
Stayed at Winton for two nights. Finally I went there as I always want to go . Log by permission COFav from me Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the earthcache Moneybox.

We visited Winton after the QOGM EVENT in Longreach last year. Im finally catching up with the last few logs before we head off to Canberra. I last visited Winton almost 20 years ago as a volunteer tutor for children on outback stations. The main station I stayed on was owned by the brother of David Elliot. Unfortunately I never got to visit him while there, but the discovery of dinosaurs on his property. The idea of this magnificent attraction had been mooted, but nothing had been decided at that point. It was well worth the visit. I hope to be back again some time, preferably in a cooler time of the year so we can enjoy more of the tours .
Found by Mary and David at 15:35. Really enjoyed the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Exhibits, and took the full tour of the site. Learned a lot, and loved the educational presentations. Staying in Winton tonight. Our thanks to Moneybox.
So amazing tour around here for 5 hours Im glad to have app for speaker so I can read what staff saying so interesting . Glad I dont miss out what going on Lovely staff people so helpful Love it every minute if it Vote for favourite

We werent expecting to visit Winton yet here we are. We teamed up with Chamad, Gcoven and JACS Team for the day and left Longreach first thing in the morning. We decided to divert a little to check out this Earthcache and we werent disappointed, this place is amazing and something you wouldnt expect to see in the middle of nowhere. We wandered around briefly while collecting the information with the help from one of our team members. Its a shame we didnt have the kids with us as this is something right up their ally, most of them love anything Dinosaurs related, so yes, well be back..Great experience and a fun adventure. Answers have been submitted and weve been given the all clear to log. Heres a FP for the overall experience. Thanks for bringing us here.#3971 - TFTEC
A fascinating place where we spent an enjoyable few hours increasing our knowledge of Australia. It's hard to imagine that this arid landscape was once a lush forest.Answers sent. Thanks for find #4825TNLN

I’ve been here 6 years ago but after seeing the entry price decided I didn’t need to go again. Unfortunately I believe the information signs have been moved as they’re not outside where they once were.

I was shocked at the cost of entry to see the dinosaurs. I guess inflation over 65 million years bites.
Found on a sojourn all around on the way to QOGM 2023. A fun jaunt with lots of dust, mud and starry skies.

Great place to visit. Outnabout for some solo caching while camping in town overnight. We’re taking the roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. It’s always a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

A popular spot today with at least 5 teams visiting. We did 3 of the 4 tours here and I think today was the highlight of our dinosaur tours, only 24 km if sealed road helps too. Thanks for the cache Moneybox

What a wonderful experience the Australian Age Of Dinosaurs is. Even better when Geohubbie and I discover an Earth Cache here. Took some searching but got the job done We were in need of a lie down afterwards (like the fellow in the photo) TFTC
We did the age of the dinosaurs tour today. It is amazing that it has been around for 20 years and they already have at least another 40 years work with the fossils they have recovered so far and they are still getting more each year.
The canyon walk was pretty good seeing the sculptures of the dinosaurs and getting an idea of the size of them.
Thanks for putting this earth cache together

Visiting Winton was a bucket list for us.
After spending time in the Northern Territory, we are gradually making our way south and east towards Brisbane.
We had the opportunity to visit the Age of Dinosaurs. It was spectacular, informative, and the countryside is absolutely beautiful.

Saw the dinosaur museum signs as we were driving to Winton so decided to spend a few hours and call in. We got there just in time for the 11am tour. Asked around to get answers to your questions. What a fantastic enterprise and I strongly support this type of research on fossils and dinosaurs. Answers sent to CO.
I visited this cache in the afternoon after doing the Matilda centre in the morning, took a guided tour and was able to gain answers for most of the questions from a very helpful tour guide and answers sent to the CO, a great place to visit, thanks for bringing me here and

I very much enjoyed the area and all the new things I learned. I highly recommend coming here. TFTEC
Wow it really is amazing to think that Australia has some of the oldest and largest dinosaur fossils in the world, and that they are so intact.
When I was a little kid I thought Dinosaurs were make believe, just like dragons but now I have proof!!!
I've been waiting for this holiday which was supposed to go ahead nearly 18 months ago so that gave me plenty of time to research Australia's dinosaurs. I think knowing more about them actually made my understanding and enjoyment of the experience better.
I liked the link on the cache page too.
To think that I had been to this area many years ago before the discovery of the dinosaur fossils, and walked here without realising what lay beneath - amazing!
Thanks for this Earthcache. It has really enhanced my understanding and enjoyment of my Dinosaur experience!
Recommend coming to this place.

Nibletricecakes and I detoured to the Age of Dinosaurs for this earthcache. This was an incredibly interesting stopover. Unfortunately, we had not prebooked a tour and it was very busy that day. We will definitely give more time to visit here next time.

The Age of Dinosaurs has been on my bucket list of destinations for some time now. When I decided to go to the Mega in Townsville, I made plans to visit this area too; my nephew decided to join me which turned it into a very special trip. It was a lot hotter than I was used to but without the humidity of the coast, Beefed Unicorn thought it was lovely.
It was certainly worth the wait and effort to get here, I loved it all and will be back - especially since the next opening feature is related to astronomy. I'll do a dino dig next time too - biggest problem with that is having to book so far ahead.
thanks for the earth cache here, easy fav point.

Day 3 of our tour around Queensland. Today saw us heading from Longreach to Cloncurry picking up this, that and anything else that we came across.
This was our first stop for the morning. We stopped on the way up for a few snaps before continuing onto the museum. After a few more snaps we headed into the museum to gather answers. Sent them off to the CO and we were on our way. TFTC MoneyBox

Day 3 of 8 (Longreach to Cloncurry) of a Queenslander road trip with Kestal, clocking just over 4000km, to tick off boxes for different challenges. Of course we had to detour off the main drag to stop at this tourist attraction. I think what I liked most was the countryside and boulder formation of the jump-ups. Our first time today at Australian Age of Dinosaurs and we were very impressed. Will have to come back once Australia’s first international dark sky observatory is complete ang opened. TFTC - very educational.
We’ve done the whole Dino Trail now, beginning with our own dig at the fossil sites in Richmond and end at the preservation lab in Winton. It’s been a great hands on experience all round and we’ve learned heaps. The AAOD museum is an impressive facility and we love what they’re doing here. Look forward to the new dark sky observatory opening next year. Another great earthcache from you Moneybox, covering all aspects of the museum. Our favourite part here would have to be the canyon for its sheer awesomeness. Maybe see you out there one day at a dig site
We arrived in Winton today from Richmond, and nearing the end of our Dinosaur Drive. Headed out to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum and the Winton jump up. Very impressive infrastructure here, and yet another one of the highlights. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and informative, and knowing there were Earthcache “ questions at the end” made us pay even more attention. After three hours there we headed back to town to compile our answers to the CO. Message sent. Thanks very much for the Earthcache.

Great spot, enjoyed all 3 tours here a couple of days ago. Will email answers when we have better internet coverage
I visited this brilliant museum today. It is fantastic and very informative. They are starting to build a new museum starting next year, which gives me a good excuse to return here. I love inland Qld, so muc hmore interesting than the coast. I have submitted my answers and hope they pass muster. Boulder opal and fossils, live could not get any better.
We have headed from A (our home in SW of WA) to B via the Savannah Way now sadly it's time to head back to A via the Outback Way but thankfully breaking up the drive with a few caches here and there along our route.
I had crossed this one off my list since we are time poor after our two week delay in Mackay, things are improving on that front.

We first came here with a fossil-mad young one before the reception area and collection room were completed. We enjoyed it so much that we returned during our trip around Australia this year. It was wonderful to see how much it had expanded and what it now offered the visitor. It has truly turned into a destination now.
This is a great place to visit (and work), it is well worth the money, but allow 3hrs to do all the tours. 2pm is the latest to arrive where you can complete all tours.
Time for a visit to this area. The recent rain has certainly been very good for the area. Some of the roads in the area are still closed but most due to open this week. There was only a small group of visitors out here today and the tours are well worth the visit. There are big plans for another two stages out here and they are explained in detail. the visit down into the depths of the jump up is great. The flies are a real menace but the shop sells fly veils. Will have to come back when the new buildings and features are built but according to our guide could take up to another 5 years. The road in is now all bitumen. The road out to the stampeded site is expected to be open today so will take the 110K drive out there to further our knowledge of the Dinosaurs of the area. TFTEC Moneybox
