Found it whilst visiting the cape on Saturday. Incredible spot!!! thanks for the cache Smile

the cache was in plain sight of the track so i didn't need my GPSr to find it at all. Did my best to camouflage it a bit better afterwards

Quite a story to this one! As this was one of our main things on our list to see in Tassie, we were keen not to miss out! Following the GPS took us through a tall, dark and menacing pine forrest; until we got to a locked gate eventually finding the right road, we drove to the carpark lookibg for a place to camp. Unsuccessful, we eventually opted to delve back into the dark forrest to spend the night. Waking up friday morning, we moved with great haste back down to the carpark only to find the skies were thick with cloud and mist which blanketed the ridge.Disappointed, we replanned our movements and chose to hope for good weather the next morning. At another viewing platform, later in the day, overlooking Cape Raoul, there werent any clouds sitting on the cape!

In readiness for our walk, we opted to camp at the house next to the carpark (for another $5 there is a sauna!). Departing at 6:15am we were so glad that we had waited another day! Probably one of about three days a year that this peninsula has not a cloud in the sky! The track up the ridge is VERY squelchy undefoot! Soon through the forrest and up to the lookout, where we were blown away with the quality if the view! Perfect blue skies and line of sight all the way to the horizon. We even spotted some snow over on two of the mountains in the distance. Found the cache up here and contined down the Cape.

Over the next hour, we were again in wonder as to the 4 distinct changes in vegetation: temperate rainforest, casurina, banksia and then out to low tea tree shrubs. Looking back at what we had cone down was slightly daunting, knowing that we had to in actual fact go UP it on the return trip! On aproach to the point we found a large (shallow) lake. Stripping down, I discovered that it was boneshakingly cold! Continuing along the coastline we bumped into a couple of rock climbers and found the cache just before the final destination. On arival at the cape, we admired the fascinating 'Wedding Cake' dolorite formation. Finding a rock in the sun, it was easy to lay down with a steady supply of snacks, choccy and drink! But my peace was shortlived when the climbers decided that my rock was the only spot to anchor off!

On the return trip, we could no longer resist the lake (we called 'The Tahn') The climbers had told us that the lake is not here in summer (the only time I'm ever coming back here!). Knowing that I would forever regret my decision to walk away, I stripped down and planted myself in the shallow waters for a brisk roll, and I was out of there! Not as cold as my beach swim earlier in the week, I opted to go in again! After egging on the Geodad, he too 'submerged' himself in the tahn. Clothes back on and a brisk walk back to the lookout for lunch. Just astonished with the quality of the weather (just as we were about to leave tassie that evening), we sat reminiscing our time on the island. Thankyou very much for hiding a cache out here, definately a very memorable walk! TFTC!!!!!!

This one has been on the to-do list for a while. We are eventually conquering all the Peninsula caches.
It was a glorious Tassie winter day so we set off on the walk. Given how the weather has been we couldn't have picked a better day.
The track is pretty muddy and slippery in parts, testament to how popular the walk is. Wonder what it will be like when the 3 Capes people are done with it?
A nice easy find before heading out to the end for lunch. Went back via the view of the seal colony. Its amazing how clearly you can hear them at both ends!
Thanks red tag.

The flowers were good and would have been even better if the Calytrix had been out.

The weather seemed nice and settled and our planned two day trip to the Tasman Peninsula went ahead.  A walk to Cape Raoul that passed two caches and another walk to Arthurs Peak.  The weather was superb as were the native flowers, especially on the Arthurs Peak walk..

Found it on a wet and windy day while visiting and doing some hiking in Tazzie! Great walk.

Hi red tag
Travelled back to the Peninsula on Good Friday - it rained all night so thought this cache would be out of the question today. On the way to the car park area it, the precipitation started again. Was greeted at the car park by about half a dozen other cars; most were going to Shipstern.
Left the car park at 0945hrs and was back at 1345hrs.
A solid walk both in and out but very enjoyable. The weather gods were kind the entire trip, no rain but a few very strong wind gusts [small gales] made walking difficult in the more exposed areas.
The track was easy to follow and the bush was exceptional.
Got to the Cape, three or four groups were already there. Took some good snaps and then went back to find the cache, signing the log at 1143hrs. A great walk and probably one I would not have done if not for finding a cache - THANK YOU!! On the way out I was passed by many groups on their way in; a real popular walk today.

Want a giggle:
On the way in had just descended the hill to the "flat" and looked at my GPS to see how much further there was to go; it said 230metres. Kept walking but the "Distance to Next" was not changing even though I'd walked more metres than it was showing. "What's wrong?" thinks I. Anyway, to cut a long to a short story; that continued for the next 1.5km. After finding the cache without GPS accuracy, I noticed that my "Distance to Next" had somehow been inadvertently changed to "Altitude." IT WAS THE LONGEST 230-250METRES I'VE EVER WALKED IN MY LIFE!!!!
OldSaint had done it again!!

Thanks for a great walk
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint

Turned into a beautiful day out on the cape after what was a rather grey and gloomy start. From the Lookout we couldn't see 10 yards in front of us due to the low cloud but this had cleared by the time we got to the cache and out to the point for some lunch. Return journey took a little longer than expected but was a thoroughly enjoyable walk.

I set out with three goals - to find this cache, to get some exercise and to take some photos with my new camera. I left the car at exactly 08:00 and had the cache in hand at 09:15. I spent about 20 minutes or so taking some photos and was back at the car at 10:46. That means all three goals were achieved - cache found, signed and reconcealed, some reasonable photos considering the light conditions and a good workout - about 1 hour 15 minutes each way with 14.1 kilometres covered altogether. A great and favourite location. Thanks red tag.

An exciting find for geokids (5 and 7 years) after an amazing (and huge) walk. Forgot to take something to exchange, so just wrote in book. New to geocaching, so this one was a good second choice. TFTC red tag
