Had a reasonably solid look with Z-Master and AngelicKiwi, who despite having found it previously couldn't remember where exactly - after ten minutes of checking most things in the vicinity the rain came down a bit more than ideal and it was abandoned for another day. I was certainly glad that NZ doesn't have anything poisonous living in all the spots I was diving my arm into.
Trekked through a dense forest as we didn't go on the path, absolute nightmare to find and took 20 minutes of digging around. Ecstatic that we found it, found with sidthesusguy who doesn't have premium so he can't log it. TFTC
The rainbow came down INFRONT of the land at both ends. I've not seen that happen many times before.
This was found easily trusting the GPS - I had stepped off the track to find the cache but at the same time a magical rainbow appeared that got brighter as I stood and looked at it, so I had to pause the proceedings to take a photo. This ended up being the "perfect cover story" to chat with the next walker that came down the track behind me. once He'd gone I completed my duties and was on my way. Great placement especially as it gets me another find before I head off the track.
I was in CHCH visiting my teen who is going to uni here. Had some daytime spare so I walked up the Huntsbury track to Mt vernon and am now returning back via the Farm track. I chose this area as it was easy to get to by using the bus.

Must have chosen the shortest but steepest route? Very well hidden cache looked there a couple of times before locating; TFTC
Beautiful day and beautiful view, I'm sure that was at least the third time I checked that spot but got it in the end! Thanks!!
Out for a walk in the hills after quite a bit of rain so nice to get back outside - TFTC
After making what was for two geriatrics a bit of an effort to get up here, especially with a temperature of 31 degrees, we were disappointed not to be able to locate this cache. Our fourth
DNF on a terrible caching day in Christchurch.

Time to head home now the bridge is open but first morning stoll to stretch the legs...kids not to happy about it but no choice ..cache a quick find tftc
#255 Saturday stretching on Port Hills with Steffen. And this is our first cache in the end of the trip after me missed them all on the track. Quick found. Tftc
Definitely a great view on this beautiful autumn morning. The cache was a quick find. TFTC.
Went for a hike hoping to find a few.... struggled with our other two and decided to head back home after being in the hills for 2 hours. Saw this one along the path we were taking and decided to give it a try. Lovely day to find our first cache in ages.... TFTC
Just trust your GPS. Made it much harder than it should have, but finally grabbed the cache. A nice morning for this short walk, but we will be back for some other caches in the area. TFTC
My boyfriend and I went really off road to find this. Pro tip there’s a track!! Thanks for our first find (:

Found on a dog walk.
Things are wet and slippery at the moment, but I still managed to hold the dog leash, not fall down and find the right rock. Mission accomplished!
Nice views, I had been on the Valley track a couple of times before but never on this ridge. It's definitely not 'Dry' these days!
P.S. Looks like this is my consecutive caching day #200, woohoo!

A quick find on the way down from another. 7% battery left! Pleased to come up here. It's years and years since I last did it but I'll be back soon on a cooler day. Thanks for the cache.
Almost home to our holiday cottage - we’ve worked up an appetite for dinner now! TFTC
Third or fourth try, but got it. The big one looks like a dog! TB in. Very close to home now.
#15129. The cache was a short distance horizontally from the car park, but it required a decent effort to get to GZ. Once there the cache took a bit of tracking down (just as well it is now in a 200ml sistema). Good views from GZ.
After dinner, StreetWalker and I popped over to the hills to find a cache or three.
We weren't sure how to access this cache so headed up a steep track from the car park, which seemed to go in the right direction, but then started to get further and further away from the cache. We carried on, and thankfully came to a track junction, with one path heading in the right direction.
Not my favourite sort of track as it was narrow with a steep drop so I was very slow, trying not to look down. Relieved when we reached a ridge line then soon at GZ. Not an instant find, but SW got there and a bigger container than advertised.
I wasn't keen to backtrack, so we carried on down this path until it met up with a farm track, then the street that the car park is accessed from. That would have been an easier route. TFTC.

What a great day out! I decided to take advantage of nice weather, and the family being away, to have a great day out walking in the Port Hills, and of course, caching. All in all, 17 finds, from lots of COs, only one DNF, and some spectacular views. I walked about 16km (24,000 steps) in all, with lots of elevation change, sheep, sun, and fun.
First find of the day! Sheep on the move!

Spring maintenance. All goog here, clean dry replacement log awaiting first sig. Will update coords as my news phone had them 5m out.
I'm down on a trip to Christchurch to visit my elderly parents and took an afternoon out today to walk up the hills. Had a great time collecting caches and wandering up and down hills and different tracks. Particularly stoked to find this one as it was a DNF for me in February, but found it easily today - go figure! TFTC
Popped up at last to sort this out. Mint tin now replaced with a small sistema container. New log book and a pencil. Dropped in a TB too. Happy hunting.
Bummer - I've done other caches up here on past trips to Christchurch, and have been keen to log this one, but unfortunately today wasn't the day for it - or us! We had a good look around and usually my muggle hubbie can find one when I can't but obviously a case of cache blindness here today for us. Never mind, I'll be back in Christchurch another time and up here for another go then! We enjoyed the walk anyway
TFTC. It is ages since I have been up here. Decided to walk the familie's new puppy up here. She had a blast cruising the track.. We came up from the cap park and then looped back down the road.
Took a few choices before I hit gold.
My signing is the greenish pp under the log dated 14.5 16
Thanks Rincewind3 for bringing me up here, just beautiful.

Hard to coax Ric to accompany me up a slight hill...and when we got to gz it took ages fruitlessly searching ....
Then I read logs , and we expanded our search , and Ric found it for us !
Thanks Rincewind Jr !

Super crap day at work... and what does one do when they are having a super terrible day at work, and the weather outside is absolutely gorgeous??
Go out caching in the port hills of course!!
After coming through the valley track, decided to go and find these caches on the way back. Do a nice loop
This was a pretty quick easy one. Between the two of us, we spied all the not obvious ones and took a look pretty quick!
Consec caching day #1060

Great view. Cheers for the cache. Found quickly after a rocky jaunt up the ridge.
Having just found a cache below I looked at my watch. Sure I have enough time to head up and grab this one then zip down and pick up my son at schools end. 45 mins should be long enough. I jetted off and huffed and puffed up the hill. Reaching the gz a quick search and an ah ha moment I had the cache in hand. the log was a little worse for wear. so I added a new one....signed the new log TFTC Rincewind Jr, from TeamMcI, 11 May 2015 14:43, cache number #845!
Nice clue. Requires a bit of balancing on a wet and slippery track today.Made it none the less. Thanks for the hide.
After my run I decided to explore this track as I didn't know it was here. Great views. Thanks for bringing me here. I will definitely be back.
Very nice place for a view over part of the city and a great place for a cache. Found easily. Log reasonably dry but full and must have been wet at some stage. TFTC
Phew! Who would have thought there could be so many nooks and cranies to explore. GPS not very acurate for me but eventually a hurrah moment. Tftc - The log seems to be drying out. Now I just need to decide which route down to take!
One of the few left up here for me so i might aswell get it while i'm here how hard can it be. Nosynel had already found it and didn't want to go up again (having been out on a bike ride earlier) so i said how long can it take it's only 145m away.....haha went the hard way didn't I. A wee bush bash in sandals is NOT a good idea. but got to it once on the correct track, a quick text to NN in the carpark to say come out and wave, quick chat aka yell back and forth before i headed back down, the easy way this time. Cheers for the cache. Log book a bit tatty and damp and going mouldy was very hard to sign on.
Found it this time with help from the gps. Nice spot kids had a picnic while we searched. Tftc.
Parked in the Mt Vernon Valley carpark and took a shortest route to the cache. Straight up the hill...none of this following the track nonsense. A few search possibilities at the GZ. Put my GPS on a flat surface, and said and waited for a few minutes and then searched where the GPS was pointing. A couple of minutes later, the cache was in hand, and signed. Thanks for the cache.
A perfect day for a stretch and look down at my grandchildren's school. However 5 minutes didn't see the cache in my hand and so gave up and continued up the hill.
walked up the hill with my mate trying out her Leki poles and knee supports that she insists will enable me to get back into tramping and sort out my wonky knees. Great view and my mate found the cache just as I was about to give up. TFTC
