Slowly working my way up to Cooyar and grabbed this on the way. I had no reception so that as an added challenge. Eventually found and grabbed the trackable. TFTC
youngoldfella I found your cache Rest Area ( New England Highway) on 20/9/2023, 11:50 am. This is my find 6001 and find # 7 today. Found it after a brief search with the help of the hint. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Found by Mary and David at 14:10. Did a bit of CITO in the area while we were here. Why do people not use the bin provided? Our thanks to youngoldfella.
I was awake nice and early so I set off with Peppa to find some caches before breakfast.
Another test area I’ve passed numerous times and never stopped at. It was quiet here this early so we had no problems finding the cache. Tftc youngoldfella

The final day of the Rural Safari weekend…
After spending my second night in a tent at the Crows Nest Tourist Park it was an early start (ie I was making too much noise in the tent and was sent out like a noisy toddler)…
The furthest point of our journey north this morning… we had the whole area to ourselves and it didn’t take long to find the container…
Tftc… Left GeoTrain to continue on…

Out on another epic Safari day, this time I did something remotely clever and checked for nearby caches and add them to the list! Unheard of!!!!
Being really quite lucky as a few we so so close and others just a mere 1km down the road - which also gave us a break from the great eyeball stare as we hunted photos clues.
All the bonus caches were found in good order and we signed and replaced as found.

My previous visit here I didn't have my climbing gear with me, and I did have Mrs George who suggested I would be silly to try this one. Today, without Mrs G, I braved the fence line - found it quite easy - and soon had the cache in hand. The container is cracked slightly in the lid and the base, with a little bit of water, but the log sheet seemed dry enough. TFTC, youngoldfella.
We found the rest area, and we took a rest here, but in typical Geocaching fashion, it was not a long rest. Another find on our weekend away together.
We signed this as Team Grav (E_Smiley, Chamad, Triple Turmoil, Simber15, willis007 and Nayfee).

A plan was formed recently to camp at Oakey over the October long weekend (due to Ekka being postponed) and tackle the art and a number of fun puzzles in the vicinity. The call went out to a few others we enjoy travelling with and the solving began! Lots of back and forth between members and we finally had a full set a few days out from the trip.
The roads were wet and muddy but that isn't going to stop a group of dedicated geocachers on a mission! The rain held off which we were grateful for however chunks of mud were often shaken off shoes before returning to cars and moving on to the next one.
As is always the case when caching with others there were many laughs and a great time had by all. Always a great sense of achievement when you've been working through a project over a number of weeks.
Thankyou for placing and arranging this series for our enjoyment. The fields and flowers were in bloom. Birds a plenty enjoying the roadside water sources. The scenery was refreshing. Always enjoy a taste of the countryside. Logs signed as Team Grav (as in Gravel assault!)

Day two of our Oakey trip and a later start than usual.
We set off just after 9am and hit the trail, ughh.. Road? I don't know what to call it, but we travelled on it. Our main target for the day was the Gravel series than we slowly made our way north than south while collecting a bunch of caches along the way.
I have never ventured out this way before so it was a real eye opener, the towns, the farms, the flowers, the animals, you name it we saw it, well, maybe not everything because I was disappointed I didn't see an elephant, but you get the picture.
We certainly picked the right time of year as the Jacarandas were in full bloom and you wouldn't go through a town without seeing a bunch of them, absolutely stunning, it truely is an amazing tree and you can literally spot them from a mile away.
The team had an absolute blast and we thoroughly enjoyed travelling the open road breathing in the fresh country air, what more could you ask for? Well, a coffee shop perhaps since I went the WHOLE. ENTIRE. DAY without coffee and that is deadly, If i miss my daily caffeine goodness I become a terrible person and do bad things, other than that it was a very memorable day.
Thank you so much for placing this cache here for us to enjoy.

A group of us came together to reassemble the SSE, find all of Gravel's Travels and everything in between. This is a beautiful area. Some caches took my Corolla to places it shouldn't have been, especially after the rain. But we had fun, found a variety of hides and saw a variety of landscapes (and muddy roads).
A big thanks to all the CO's who gave us a reason to camp in a little town for the weekend. Those who don't make this a weekend holiday destination are missing out.

While camped at 700acres farm for the weekend, TMZ59 and I are taking a drive around Cooyar collecting solved puzzles and letterboxes.
Stopped to grab this one while on the way. A quick find once we found the right stump.

Certainly looks like part of the old road here and why does it bend like that and the new road doesn't? Must have been some serious road building going on here!
Thanks youngoldfella

Very wet day. Had to send co driver to find it, while I sat in warm car. Might need to put a bullhorn in geo bag, to make yelling instructions in the rain easier. TYFC
This cache cried out to be found as we passed by. With all that parking space it was an easy park and grab. We had to hurry as the rain was starting again, so signed the log and beat a hasty retreat to the car. Next stop, Brisbane.
Found. Noticed a crack in the lid so placed upside down to protect from rain.

Not hard to find when I finally ignored my GPS that kept telling me to walk away from where it actually was!!
10:07:00 AM. Heading down for the Rural Safari and saw the cache come up on the GPS. Plenty of room to stop and a short walk and scramble to GZ. Log signed and back on the road. Thanks for the cache youngoldfella
nice easy find not like the one out of Texas which landed geohuuby in Toowoomba hospital for 3 days and 19 stitches but I guess its all part of geocaching when you are adventurous

Out with jemillalucy and lisylou today out for the weekend at jondardyn woolshed
Spotted the hide from a distance and headed straight for it. Nice of someone to leave a scouting pad as a swap. Thanks for the cache
Oh gods- the Patrician’s called a meeting. Better get up there quick or it’ll be the dungeons. Hopefully it’s not about Nobby again. I’ve told him to take that damn dress off.
#9028 - 08:00; Day 4 of a long planned mission to South East Queensland with Sol de lune and after a couple of days in and around Nanango and the wider South Burnett area, it was time to head back towards Brisbane, then home later on Tuesday. Stopped for this one as we headed from Nanango towards Toowoomba. It seems like only mere moments ago we stopped for a rest, but this cache prompted us to do it all over again. TFTC youngoldfella

Found on way home from Blackbutt to Toowoomba after staying at a friends hobby farm.
My muggle friend knew exactly where the road stop was, even mentioning the mattress that had found a home there for a while.
My co ords was throwing me around a fair bit, and once again my muggle friend found the cache.
We placed a wool steelo and a magnet in for swaps.
Log good condition.
Container good condition.

I recently learned what the acronym SPOR (suspicious pile of rocks) means from fellow cacher Caro (from Jess & Caro). So as we headed up towards GZ I thought I knew where I was heading. Turns out I was wrong lol. TFTC
Out and about with my amazing Geo-Wife Kaleidoscope, Nabbing finds here and there in Cooyar, the geocaching gods smiled down upon us as we also nabbed a FTF in the area.. all is good in the world... TFTC!

Our annual big day out in the Burnett region was planned for today, with a truckload of caches found around Linville, Cooyar, Yarraman, Maidenwell, Nanango and points between.
Nice spot here, easy to pull off the highway too. Love the sandstone rocks everywhere, made the hide easy to spot too.

Thanks for the experience **youngoldfella**, discover our trackable

TFTC. This is a lovely spot to take a break on the drive from Wondai to Toowoomba. The clue was very helpful.
Had to give Crows Nest caches a miss due to rain. Now sunny again.
On our way back home after the QOGM events in Barcaldine.
Of course with the one or other cache for a :~)
Thanks to all COs for the caches !

The sun is out again, so are we. Spent quite some time in Highfields, no stop in Crows Nest due to wet weather.

Great QOGM events are over, we are on our way home, now towards Benarkin.

It is the day after the Rural Safari and stortigirls and I are out collecting caches in the area. I parked the geomobile and we made our way up to GZ. There, stortigirls quickly spotted the cache. With our names added to the log and the cache returned to its spot, we continued on our way. TFTC
Rolling back towards Toowoomba after a hard day of slashing in the paddocks. Just have time for a few quick caches before it gets too dark to see.
A peculiar but familiar smell in this rest stop. Reminiscent of #2 Dumped some rubbish in the bin and scurried up to GZ. All is good here

This one wasn't where we were expecting it to be, but it was a quick easy find once we followed the compass and not our intuitions!

As Wombles & Co and I pulled in we thought we knew where we would have to go but of course it quickly became apparent it wasn't going to be there. A short stroll and we had cache in hand, feeling rather relieved there was no long grass to traipse through here.
Thanks for the cache youngoldfella.

Friday. The Slow Punctures were on our way to the Rural Safari 2017 at Crow's Nest, traveling via Kilcoy and Yarraman. On the way we picked up a few caches which had so far eluded us.
A quick find for Mr SP on this one, went straight to it. We find it interesting to see the old road formations when we are going along.
This was the 4th of 12 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***youngoldfella***, for showing us this place.

After a morning up at the bunya mountains we decided to stop here and have some lunch, after lunch had a look to see if there were any caches, after walking along the road for a little bit saw where the cache would be and there it was, nice and easy find tftc
Freshly burnt so no long grass to contend with. Nice quick find and eager beavers to find. Took nothing, left nothing. Tftc
Out for a days caching, we decided it was time to add smileys to this series along the New England Highway between Crows Nest and Cooyar. This one took a bit of a scramble, but an easy find thanks to the great hint. Cheers from Bindair Dundat and Princess Madelyn.
One last stop before we had better make some serious ground to Toowoomba, if we don’t get a move on we’ll never make it, but on the flip side we would have a lot of caches.
When we pulled over here you could still smell the after burn from a very recent fire right where we needed to be. We held grave fears for this cache! But we were here now so we may as well check to see if it beat the flames. It did, the caching dream lives on here! It was nicely protected where it was.
We quickly signed our names and watched another cattle truck roll on by…

First time in awhile that I have driven by this one in daylight. Driving to Toowoomba on Monday saw the visible black spots from the grass fire. On the way home today had a look and no damage to the cache. I replaced the clip seal bag as the existing was damaged. Managed to get the pen unstuck from the bottom of the container and placed it in with the log. Plese reseal the bag and hide well. Have fun.
Last find for the day. It's been a great drive. Time to appease the Geokids with a Maccas offering.
The side of the road is being burnt off right this minute and we thought this little cache might have been fried! But not to be, it is currently still there.
Probably a bit dangerous going through the bush to get to it but we were already there and not about to at least not try!
