Found with , required the removal of a fallen banksia. being vertically challenged removed the cache easier for her and we both signed it. Photo nearby possum hole. TFTC
Not an easy find with icw, as a Banksia bough had fallen on the cache. Fortunately icw noticed a corner of the container & we pulled the foliage off to reveal the generously sized cache. We took time to camouflage it before we left. Tftc
Path to mouth inundated with water. Dont want to get my feet wet today. Come back in warmer times
TFTC! 6 November 2023 8:07:33 pm 6361What a great walk from the beach! Started at the other end and walked the length (up and down the sand dunes) to the river and up to the path towards the car park! Boy a serious tough hide!
Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to Gonefishen07 for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

It’s amazing how long it took us to find this large size cache. We may have had better luck looking for a bison hanging in a tree:)
Spent way too much time circumnavigating a certain area, which we gave a thorough going over and under, and everywhere in between until once again, the man who has found every cache today checked a different spot and thankfully spotted this cache. We also received a full on attack from mosquitoes just to add salt into the wound. Anyway, we have the smiley and plenty of bite marks to show for our effort.
Thanks again Gonefishen07 for all these unique hides we have found today. Happy birthday!

Lesson learnt from the last cache don't make things harder than they need to be.. It was almost a relief with this find, and a slight surprise to see the size of the cache perfect for leaving a travel bug. TFTH and happy Birthday to everyone. (Found with Kashbound and kbucky aka TKB's)
Who doesn't love birthday cake! We were starving when we arrived here and would have loved to find the container with cake. Another dune slog but easier than some. Found in the company of Kashbound and Tiz13 on a great day out geocaching in this area. tftc Gonefishen07
I do remember having fun in the Sun in summer at powlet river many many years ago but today I'm here exploring the area geocaching with the tiz13 and kbucky team TKBs having a great day out so far... TFTC Gf07 and for effort produced in appling all these caches for us
A well hidden hide, and we were rewarded with the comic strips and pictures people had left.

A fair while ago, we walked this interesting and peaceful circuit. The search for this one required a slight detour and we discovered a surprisingly large container. The contents of which were very decorative.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for all of the great caches you have placed in this area.

Cute cache container. Found with rebonka easy find. Could not sign log book as did not bring a pen and pen in cache container not working. Tftc
#4472 We parked at the Tea Tree and did a loop walk along the beach to Powlett River mouth before heading back via the walking trail. This was the first find and Mr BGF was sent into the jungle snake pit to make the find here. Enjoyed opening the cache to find the neat set up inside. Enjoyed getting back out on the clear track too! So it was actually my birthday on the day we found this cache (8 Aug). A fun find on my special day. Thanks again for these fun caches - we stocked this one with swag. ️
Well today I found myself in the Kilcunda-Wonthaggi area with a day to kill. In my travels today I had much time to contemplate where I should be out caching in this area or not, given that over half the cache have been disabled due to COVID19. I could come up with 10 good reason why to and why not, and it could be debated at length without conclusion but at the end of the day I figured that the game pieces are in place still, I have breached no rules or laws, I probably couldn’t be more isolated (didn’t see a sole), many other are caching, I have sanitised my hands so much the skin is cracking and the reviewers are publishing new cache. Certainly, I would consider the risks are higher simply going to the supermarket, and I could log these cache in a few months, but I choose to do it now. Apologies if I have upset the CO’s by breaching their intentions.
The day for me started in Kilcunda, picked up a couple of loose traditional cache and then parked near the cemetery. I preceded to hike my way along the beach collecting the Killer view series and Cache Favourite challenges. Certainly the views were killers! The beach was stunning, just one set of footsteps as far as you could see from where I had come and a beautiful clear beach ahead of me. The beach and waves were stunning, and the small patches of rock formation just a wealth of interest, however there was a bite in the air that on a few occasions gave my head the pain like when you eat ice cream too fast! I continued down all the way to Powlett River mouth and had to do a little bush bashing near the river as I made my way past the beach house, fairy garden, bird in hand, the ballgame and so many other great inventions. Eventually I rejoined the rail trail back to the car after 11km or sand, dunes and trails, and tucked into a cup of tea, some sausage rolls and fruit.
My second adventure was around the Wonthaggi Heathland Nature reserve, I spied another circuit and feared there maybe more sand dunes! My legs were still feeling if from earlier. A I headed from the carpark towards the Target range knowing I was going to have to back track straight after. Then headed back towards the beach and saw an OWL! And continued on towards the beach for more isolation, more amazing views, more sand dunes, ammo cans (who doesn’t love a good ammo can?), and a little cut back through to the car. Another 10km covered, time for another cuppa, muffin bar and some nuts a raisens.
The weather started to turn now so I thought I best start making my way back home and collected a few drive byes along the way. Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the day, the fresh air and kms certainly was great for my body and headspace and look forward to getting back to find some more. There will definitely be a few Fav points going out.

Today I headed to Wonthaggi to attend the two events in town, I managed to convince My old caching Mate Trailrunning to come down for the day as he was so close to his 10,000 find, also teamed up with another great mate Omegaman1971, I had a great day finding caches and catching up with friends. A nice large container, not a frustrating micro in the bush.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache.

Another day off and perfect weather so bribbed the teens to head out with the pooch and enjoy this weather, a few grumblings that its hot, how much longer... teens...
Finished some caches on the trail and headed this way for a coffee and find a few more caches and walk before heading home.

Arriving near gz actually walked straight past this cache initially but during circling around I spotted it in its hiding place amazed at how I missed it. Guess it was the torch. The size actually means I can enter the GV monthly challenge which I may do. Nice cache and lovely spot.

Good to find a large cache now and again. Granddaughter will love the photo of this one.
Its my Birthday! Well not mine but my dads 999hunter. I don't think he would want what was inside... it was very cute and girly.
Out on a caching day with tooth66 and possum 64. We have enjoyed the few caches around here, although the mozzies are horrendous!! TFTC
Wow, are you kidding?? Awesome cache, well done and appreciated with tooth66 n trickeytracey
I knew today was going to be a lovely early spring day, so left early to get down here with the sunrise. The plan was a couple of Challenge caches, and a few needed DT caches, plus any bonus caches along the way.
From the path, I thought I knew where the hide was going to be, but a quick look in there and I found nothing. Checked the GPS and it said another 10 meters. Carefully headed the extra 10 meters and saw the large container. On opening, found another container and this one is just a beauty. Will have to give this one a favourite point as being the best hide of the day. I will have to bring my daughter back here another day to help me 'find' these caches all over again.
Cache found in good condition and log file signed. Left the trackables where they were.

I moved a little further north and parked nearby to walk to these four caches I had not yet found. The trail was empty today and a nice area for a short walk. A little tricky to find this one too with the GPSr pointing to another spot. I moved further around and found this nice sized container. Stamped and returned as found.

Picked this cache up while heading out to "King of the Sand Castle" on a mission to pick up my last D/T. Played a few party games initially like hide and seek, ring-a-ring of roses and finally pin the cache name in the log book.

Visiting Melbourne and targeting caches to complete my DT matrix.
2 out of 4 collected at waterways this morning and 1 in the dunes here to make it to 80 but failed at the King of the Sand Castle to make it to 81.
As I returned dejected I collected this en route to the car.
Good size container. Tftc.

Today was the day when the spot in my geocaching team was finally filled (sadly Monts passed away a few months ago). It was filled a few weeks ago, but my then muggle father refused to admit he liked geocaching. How ever he does like walking, solving problems and creating things. He suggested we do this walk today "what is the worst that can happen, we might get wet" so off we went. Every cache he walked up to, he stated "Monts is finding a lot of caches today". This walk was great and we didn't have a single DNF, which surprised me as I had been reading previous logs on the king and Queen. Please don't hate me, but the caching gods were with us today and we had the king in hand within less than 10 mins, and the queen in hand in around 2 minutes. It was, as I had read logs, all about trusting the GPS. Thank you so much for this series, I really enjoyed the walk and the challenging DT. TFTC Gonefishen07
Spotted relatively quickly and the contents were surprisingly dry given the location and weather today.

On my trip down to Wonthaggi for the day to go out and pick up some unloved caches and do some other caches that are very convenient for me to grab, as I walk past them haha. This was one of those caches that I just happened to walk past, even so I would like to thank you for the cache and the amazing place you have taken me to today. Will continue on to try to get closer to the no1 spot in this months unloved challenge.

More like DNA Did not attempt, flood waters have made the track impassable at the moment. Will come back later.
While down at Cape Patterson for our annual Easter holiday with family we decided on showing the rest of the group Powlett River. We had already done the caches on the track another time but wanted to get the kids excited about the gamae remembered these ones were fun. Unfortunately after a short search in this very overgrown area we decided to move on.
This was the happy cache for the day. You can't look at this cache and not smile, a real feel-good experience! TFTC Gonefishen07. Took Lockettfamily's GC&P Club October 2008 - Night Cache Muggler GC, left NQ-merang TB.
You didn't warn us about the need for an extradition tool . It's nice to find a big container!
Barefoot bush bashing, sure I was going to spend the rest of my holiday hooked up to a venom extraction pump but we made it out with no bites or scratches. Very cute cache, nice and dry. Good to find a bigger one. Thanks, Jazzmo (NZ)
Having our usual annual Easter holiday at Cape Paterson with &Others, we wanted to check out the renoun sand surf mounds. Parked the car and picked this one up on our way to see what they were like. Nice flat walk and we shall return to do the dunes. Thanks Gonefishen07 for another great location to come to. If size counts you have won for the day
My sister jazzmo and her family are visiting from NZ so naturally we brought them to one of our favourite playgrounds....the Powlett River sand dunes.
After a sickeningly quick find by jazzmo up at King of the Dunes we decided to find this one while the rest of the families boogie boarded down the dunes.
We are pretty sure that Mr Rusty had tried to sabotage our geocaching efforts by telling us we didn't need to wear shoes today. But after creeping tentatively through lots of prickly stick infested cutty grasses in bare feet we decided that we must always remember the golden rule: GEOCACHERS ALWAYS NEED TO TAKE SHOES WHEREVER THEY GO.
Anyway, we made it to the fun hide and put our names on the log. Almost missed the Easter Egg Hunt back at the caravan park due to our geocaching and we got crucified by everyone for it too. We paid the price but we had fun TFTC GF07 (Pic attached)

Hi there Gonefishen07.
We found your cache "It's my Birthday and I'll hide if I want to!"at 11:45:00 AM today, & this now makes our find count 12623.
Our cache run today started with a failed attempt to fill a hole in our D/T grid. We then found a few caches on our way back to the car park, leaving some to log on our next D/T attempt. We ended up logging 5 and DNFing 1 caches today.
[Green]Thanks for placing a large cache here. It is really sad to note that the trend of placing small caches (without swaps) is increasing. While nanos and eclipse tins sometimes have their place in an urban environment these, along with 200ml Sistemas, seem to be the norm these days even out in more remote areas. It made us feel really glad to find a large, kid friendly cache here.[/Green]
We awarded this cache a favourite point for the ingenious construction.
Coordinate Accuracy: We found this cache around 2m from where our GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for placing this cache for us to find,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

As we had finished exploring the sand dunes to the north of the river, we made our way down one of the large gaps. There were kids riding their boogie boards down the dunes and into the water - they managed to make it all the way down and across the water without coming off.
With all the activity behind us we were soon on the path and at GZ.
This was a lovely container, large and nicely decorated.

Mr y'stassies mobility is not that flash in even terrain, especially with a lot of sticks and btanches in the way. It took about 35 minutes of hunting and obstacle negotiation before this cache was located. The decorations inside the cache container were great, most appropriate for an annual celebration. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks for the cache Gonefishen07 and a belated (or early) "Happy Birthday.

Down this way again looking to get a few more ticks on my DT matrix. Some success and some failures but that's the way it goes. Missed these last time as I was rushing back to the car but had enough time to stop today and picked up 4 in a row on these short walk. Spot on coordinates for me so a quick find here and an interesting container. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited my personal trackable. Thanks for the cache Gonefishen07.

Walking back to the car with great big smiles on our faces we stopped to pick up a few caches along the track. this being the first. We were surprised by the large container and the beautiful presentation here. Both Tag-along and I signed the log. It wasn't until we returned home that he doesn't qualify as he is not a premium member. He is my supporter and driver. He also comes in handy when constructing some of my hides.

In Wonthaggi this weekend for a whole heap of geocaching!
Saturday, and what was planned to be a massive day. The schedule was to travel to Kilcunda via the rail trail, then head back down the coast. Unfortunately I ran out of time and had to head back to Wonthaggi before completing all the caches. Nevertheless a heap of smileys are now on the map, and I had a blast. A huge thank you to Gonefishen07 for placing these, they are great! Ill be back another day to finish the area off! I apologize for the generic logs, but there are a lot of them!!
Heading back home, grabbed a few along this trail.

This took me a while and if anybody could have seen me climbing over logs to get where I needed to go they would have been killing themselves laughing, I am certain. However I eventually found where that tricky cache was hidden. Thanks.
A great days caching with many differing experiences, some where I walked right to the cache and others where I needed to hunt around a bit. As usual I have enjoyed the various challenges set by the CO's and the fact that I get to cache with friends and am outside in the great outdoors.

Time to tackle some of the more challenging placements by a certain fish'n person. Cognisant of the sensitivity of some of the areas we were to visit the three teams (Maccamob, Pprass and Phetlern) were each cut by 50%, the other half being given a spending allowance as compensation. Travel arrangements and drop off sorted, we ventured forth.
Back on a reasonable track it was plain sailing walking back to the vehicle from our sand hill adventures, and a quick find as we passed by.
Obviously a lot of work went into putting this together so we've allocated a favourite point.
Thanks to Gonefishen07 for the hunt.

Spiffy- and I made the journey down fir a handful of caches all of which are just amazing. Thanks for the effort you have fine to in each if these. I could easily favourite any if these but will definitely give this one. Brilliant cache
Heading down to GZ from the King of the Castle wasn't exactly easy - I'd say quiet1_au and I we went down the 5 star terrain route! For some reason the others walked past the cache so I called them back. Don't believe what they are saying in their logs - they were searching, but don't want to admit that they missed such a big cache! Found in the company of quiet1_au, GJMMelb and gmj3191. TFTC, Gonefishen07
I think what GJMMelb is saying is he and gmj3191 took the "wimpy" way whereas lochb and I went the "proper" way... Nevertheless we soon caught up and the "Fourtified Four" (hmm, still not sure of that quickly made up name...) and were glad to be on flatter/easier ground along the river flats after the long trek along and up/down the sand dunes. lochb made the find amongst the many GZ options here (not that us blokes weren't trying!) so we could continue on our way back to the car and the other members of our group waiting there. Today was spent down on the Bass coast, initially doing a few before LouiseAnn, lochb, sharkiefan, GJMMelb (represented by Gary) and quiet1_au arrived, then doing most of them as a group, then a few more at end by myself, which I had missed on an earlier visit to the Bass Rail Trail last year.
Gotta love a LARGE cache after a couple of impossible micros.
What a relief.
Thanks for placing this cache Gonefishen07

Found with Lochb, Quiet1_au and GMJ3191 after coming down from King of the sand dunes. G and I went across the dunes and then down hte track while Q and L preferred the more direct route through the bush. L found this quickly after a few us walked past. We could not believe the size after the small caches found previously. Thanks Gonfishen07

Having an RDO off today I'm out chasing some BIG caches but grabbing the odd smaller or specials along the way.
One of my my main targets for the day, a quick find, now I know what MuggleWife has in her ...

Out along the Powlett Beach area to enjoy a walk collecting some great caches and challenge puzzles. Thanks for all the effort in the game Gonefishen07, you certainly made our day enjoyable even with seeing up trek up and down mountainous sand dunes on many occasions. Found 22 all up in this area today. Number 16 in the walk. After crossing back across the inlet and drying the feet off and shoes back on, we set off back to the car via the back track through the bush to pick up the few along this section. I was disappointed that I didn't bring anything with me today to put in all these extra large caches, as I usually only find bisons or eclipse tins! This one needs some swaps in here!

#5500 Well after an epic fail at the King of the Sand Castle (well it's a difficulty 5 for a reason!) we headed back to this cache which is a mini-milestone for us. What a way to follow up on a DNF! The cache container is just brilliant, we spent a little while marvelling at it. There was a little breeze and we got that fluttering feeling when we find a cache . Signed our names, took nothing and left a smile . Our thanks to Gonefishen07 for the cache, we were so impressed that it gets another FP from us. Cheers [^]
Reading the name of this cache automatically made me start humming the song!
Another cache that gave us a smile, thanks for the fun!

We have been keen to get to this part of Victoria after seeing the trails of caches in the locality. Not only are there lots of caches but the scenery is wonderful and the local cachers friendly and lots of fun. We collected a few caches on our way through from Fish Creek and then once we had unhooked the caravan did a few more. We enjoyed finding this well hidden cache. Thanks to Gonefishen07.
An easy afternoon out caching with friends Liz & Bruce was planned, that is if you don't count the hunt for the King of the sandcastle cache (more on that in the log for it). With the caches being quite prolific in this area we soon found a good number. The co-ords were very good in every case. and the hides very imaginative. Thanks to Gonefishen07 for hiding this cache.
Sun is shining birds are singing a great day in the bush trying to locate something different. Thanks GF07 FTC.
Found @ 12:22pm, find # 3054.
Another day of caching with Biggles1024 and for the second day in a row we were back down along the Bass Coast as there were more attractive caches to find that helps the D/T grid.
We had notice earlier on that this was another large cache, as you don't get many, if we see a large we will go get it.
As this was along the path we were taking, we just continued along until we reached GZ, where Mark was able to make a quick find.
Thanks to Gonefishen07 for placing this cache.

Find #984
Out again today with Stemicmitsar for another raid on the Bass Coast. We had our sights set on a series of challenge caches and some others that we both needed for our D/T grid. Naturally, we also took the opportunity to grab a few others along the way.
I do like a large container and there are so few around. This was a quick find and with the log signed, we were on our way to begin our assault on "King of the Sand Castle".

Nut bear and I decided that today would be a perfect day for a frolic in the sand and surf, and Gonefishen07 territory was the perfect place for it. With that decided we arranged to finally meet the woman herself who has given us so many fun and memorable days out along this beautiful coastline. We met for lunch and coffee and talked about all things caching and before we knew it 2 hours had passed. (It really is true that time goes fast when you're having fun.)
A great sized cache ( isn't it always the way - no TB to put in it ) and another one with a lot of time and effort gone into it.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache and Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!

Another fantastic day of caching was planned with BorisB&Natasha where we decided to go back to Kilcunda and find a few more of Gonefishen07's caches. It was then arranged to meet up with the CO who has given us so many great caches to find. It was awesome to finally meet and sit and chat over lunch and coffee.
Last time we were here we got hailed on and had to turn back before we got to this one. Today the sun was shining and the birds were singing .............. We'd discussed what this one might be on our way to it but neither of us guessed correctly. Another great surprise and another great cache.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache.
