I am slowly making my way south, so a few detours to find a few caches was in order.
I started this one awhile ago and as I was in the area I thought I had better finish it off.
So onto the third waypoint and i soon had some answers and another set of co-ordinates.
Once at GZ I started my search and soon found two parts which I think were the cache.
Unfortunately it has been muggled. The log book and any other contents I did not find.
I did have a spare log book in the car and a container to hold it and keep it dry so I went and retrieved them. [^]
The next question was where was it originally hidden[?] This I do not know and ask that the CO go for a visit and check everything is OK.
Other than that it is a great multi and I loved it. A fav point from me.
Thanks for the cache.

Bah! You really need the calculator, the pad and pen, and enough focus. But with two hungry kids and only my (able) phone my calculations turned out wrong and I lost patience. We WILL try again!
In preperation for our little northern NSW camping road trip, I did a bit of research on caches which would qualify for the local Unloved Challenge.
Having completed a similar multi in Redland Bay, we were very excited to tackle this one.
Attending each WP, we were able to clear out relatively easy whilst the kids played. Thankfully this WP were taking us in the direction of our travel.
At one of the WP we found that the plaque had been removed from the rock so had to count backwards (thanks for the number check). Initially the figures I had were all over the place as I hadn't counted ALL of the crosses on the church gates (as some gates were open and were out of sight).
Eventually arrived at GZ after a lovely stroll across a relatively empty and extremely bright beach. Container was found pretty quickly.
Thanks for the little tour around the region. Wish we could have stayed around longer but had to continue on to our camp site before it got to late.
Thoroughly enjoyed. TFTC.

Is the fun in the hunt or the find? This one was certainly a challenge!
The checksums were very helpful, and a better alternative to having to use the online coordinate checking website. Like others, our interpretation of the number of steps at WP1 was different, but easily corrected. The next problem was a misunderstanding within the team, calling out LAT/LONG in degrees and decimal minutes, and having the navigation app using degrees, minutes and seconds. We quickly realised the mistake, but not until we were half way to Byron Bay.
The other WP's were without drama, and so on to the GZ.
Wow! So many places to hide a cache as per the hint given potential GPS accuracy. We arrived later in the day and the mozzies and sand flies were biting like crazy. Be warned - bring mozzie repellent! Following the hint and leaving 'no stone unturned' so to speak failed to find any signs of the hidden gems. We left in despair.
Mrs U-Turner refused to give up, so we came back again today, and after more searching over the same areas, and almost ready to log a DNF, young Ms U-Turner picked something up and screamed with joy. Coordinates were pretty much spot on.
What a clever hide. We're sure we'd searched here before, but is was clearly missed.
Dropped off TB (Arthur the Gnome). Arthur wants to get back to Mooball, a few 10's km north of the GZ. He is so close to home now, it's probably best not to take him unless you can get him closer to Mooball. We didn't realise this when we removed him from the TB Lounge on our trip between WP1 and WP2.
Took ring and worm; left TB and bag.
Cache wasn't as large as we'd expected from the description, but a joy to find nonetheless.
Yes, the fun is not only in the hunt, but in the find. Thank you for your efforts Chizzi in setting up this multi. It much be hard work and is appreciated. TFTC. SL

Had fun figuring out where all the check points but in the end it took us 2 days to get to the last check point and didn't find it
Hahahaha this one is so awesome. We both loved it. Very tricky and clever hide. It was a case of hmmmm....... What is this. No it couldn't be. Why yes it is. Yewwww. Found and what a lovely spot. The clues where bang on and only one mistake with the steps. But all in all we smashed it. Nice morning cache. TFTF
The fun began yesterday beside the river in Brunswick Heads. We were grateful for the checksum as we miscounted the steps. Once that was rectified we were off to checkpoint 2. This was a handy spot as there was a cache here for us to find because last time we visited here the cache had been muggled. We answered all the questions correctly this time but we happened to glance up at the sky and lo and behold some nasty storm clouds were building above our heads.
Time to return to the tent! So today we decided to complete this cache. It was a pleasant drive to the next checkpoint and we were able to give the geomuts a run in the nearby park. This took a while to work out as we missed a vital number but eventually our checksum was correct and we were off to the final! It was extremely windy today but fortunately we were sheltered from it as we searched. And search we did! We spent quite a while here searching until eventually Mr. Herbz came up with something rather clever. Like previous cachers have said, "Wow!" Very sneaky and clever! We really enjoyed this interesting cache and an FP from us. TFTC.

Back for a second look with a little more time. Some homework done and some solid coords after checking meant I was looking in the correct spot before. I think it helps to think like a local around here.
Griffo meat me at GZ and assisted me find it. Boy, still not sure I would have got this one without a nudge or 5 hours looking!
Lovely hide and great tour of the shire. A rare Astro fav awarded to this one.
Thanks to Chizzi and clear skies from TeamAstro.

First way point worked through and then found we were going in the wrong direction, in fact had already been right past the next point. Have kept details for a later visit.
What a great adventure this one turned out to be. It started with lunch at Brunswick pub overlooking GZ. We reviewed waypoint 1 challenges as we ate lunch then hit the road.
It took a while as I got distracted by all the Munsee's in Brunswick along the way but we were soon on our way.
At waypoint 3 we staryed a little too far from GZ and found the wrong white plaque, this caused some issues for a while as we couldn't work out what we had done wrong. The 3rd time going through visually rechecking all the numbers the correct plaque suddenly jumped out at me. A quick rework of the numbers and we were finally on our way.
The final GZ is awesome and a great place to finish our caching day and awesome booty at the end.
This one gets a favourite from us.
I grabbed the TB to move along.

I was craving chips, not just any chips, I was seeking chips from the Brunswick Fish Co-op, they have great chips and there is just something about eating chips within the sight and smell of the sea. But we couldn't justify the 50k drive from home, simply for a couple of dollars of deep fried potatoes.
Wonder what new caches are down there? Hang on what's this "The Hidden Gems of Byron Shire", really good ratio of favorite points, several of my favourite cachers had done this and written good things, it looks interesting... "Honey, want to go for a drive down to Brunswick Heads, there's a new interesting multi cache?"
So we hoped in the car and found ourselves in Brunswick Heads, forgetting that the Fish and Chips festival was on. Parking was at a premium, but we were able to find a space and all the things we needed to find were available. As we took advantage of the shade in the shelter shed to do the calculations, a couple of the wood chop events were taking place in the nearby arena, boy those 'boys' can handle an axe. So few cuts to split a decent size log in two. Calculations done and off to WP2, again another shelter shed to take advantage of the shade while calculations were made. Next stop WP3, another place we like to 'hang out' from time to time. The church was open for 'prayer' and we took advantage to have a look inside. So beautiful! Final calculations made and we headed off to Ground Zero.
We arrived at Ground Zero and like others spent time scratching our heads. We knew that this was not going to be easy but we persevered. Things were picked up and examined, things were kicked, eventually I hear a "err Sue", I wandered over to where the other half was standing and at his feet in all its glory was the cache, and what a beauty it was, the inside was even better. We signed the log and carefully returned it to its hiding space. The irony is that I'd almost left my bag right on top as we searched the vicinity.
Wow! What a great cache and an interesting drive though Byron Shire. As we passed through Byron Bay on our way north we noted the new developments in the township. It seems to be a place always changing. We left Sextant Geopin in recognition of all the navigation we had to do. We really appreciated the two sets of checksums for each waypoint, it was good to know that we did indeed have the all the clues as intended and the calculations for the next set of co-ordinates would be correct. Thanks for the cache, a couple of hours well spent and we stopped for chips on the way home.

Road tripping today! teamdfl and I are going from Brisbane to Byron Bay or bust! I left my place at 6am and I got home at 10.40pm! 400+kms, 27 caches for me (including 5 multis and 1 puzzle), several beach visits, about 10kms walking all up, a railway bridge and tunnel, and then photos of the lighthouse and moon to end up the day. An awesomely mad day out [^]
Oh, we had some fun doing this one!!! Both of us like a challenge, and this cache seemed like a beauty. We'd called in at Bruns Pub for coffee and cake, then headed over to grab this first WP. A bit of a think and some number work, and yep that looks good... Onward... I'm delighted to say we had absolutely no trouble at all getting all the info and crunching all the numbers. A very satisfying adventure. Definitely a fun way to see "The hidden gems of Byron Shire" [^]
It was almost dark as we neared GZ (definitely one of my happy places [^]) so it was head torches on for the search. A bit of difficulty with the GPS under the trees, and I searched one spot a couple of times to no avail, but then I just happened to move the right thing, and WOW!!!! Now that is glorious And there was lots more to discover inside [^] And by torchlight with a full moon overhead it was quite an experience! *recommended*
After signing the log and making sure to return the cache as found, we made our way to the beach, and got some great photos of the moon over the water and the lighthouse. A fantastic way to end our day. TFTC, Chizzi. A favourite point from me.

Out on a mission to play I Spy with IolantheK today. We had collected all the clues we needed and were now meandering very slowly towards GZ collecting caches along the way. With that goal reached we now had a new mission to discover the hidden gems of Byron
I thouroughly enjoyed this cache, and no it is not at all difficult. It just takes some time, and I hope the CO does not mind me saying that it would be best done if you are heading south.
We had meandered our way from Brunswick Heads towards GZ and we were finally near GZ just as it was getting dark.
Armed with our headlights we made our way along the path. We managed to blind some poor chap coming back along the path. I have to say the dark only added to the awesomeness of this find.
There was still some light when we finally reached GZ, but not much. We split up and began to hunt. Not finding anything. Hmmm. Re-read the hint. Well that does not quite match, but have you looked there? Yes, but I'll lok again says IolantheK. Just before the spot I suggested she made the marvellous discovery.
Wow!
That is fantastic!
Most impressive. Very well done indeed. I can certainly say this one is well worth the effort required to find it. Highly recoomended indeed.
After marvelling over the superb treasure we had found we headed to the beach to look at the moon. More wows there too
I liberated the TB from the cache

Soon realized when this one was published that it wasn't a five minute job,and as I am caching up and down the coast I'm usually at work so have to manage the time I take.Today I got to final GZ and was there for ages and I have to be honest I rang Griffo.HELP! Anyhow he got me there eventually.Great cache, well done.TFTC.
OMG!!!!! What a catch... I mean cache. An absolute ripper! After starting this multi on the 4th Oct whilst travelling down to Byron and Lennox for a kidfree camping weekend with Geolze we had to wait until 5th for the last 2 legs as we picked up other caches along the way. So we arrive at GZ thinking it would be an easy find after breezing thru the waypoints. WELL! Where to start? It looked like ever log and stump within 30m of gz had been broken or pulled up. We pottered around for about 15mins when Geolze suggested we swim now and come back. NO WAY ... I wasn't leaving without the prize. I sit at gz and think for a sec and revisit a spot I had tried after reading the hint. Got it!!! WOW. Long John Silver would be proud of that booty. What an amazing effort put in. TFTC and this would count as the best find so far. Left $100 magnet and some bling and Benito's Bentley travel bug.
What an awesome adventure this turned out to be.
Three days to complete. Day one we solved the coordinates for Gz that led us to 3 very interesting locations. Unfortunately we were unable to find the cache.
Day 2. Unable to find the cache.
Day 3 and getting desperate I sought some help and finally managed to locate the booty.
A very well conceived and constructed cache.
Thanks

Well, after 2 or so hours of problem solving we arrived at gz and were unable to locate the cache. Lots of places to hide and I thought we could narrow it down by reading the hint.
Alas, we came up empty handed.
Another time and will bring the gps instead of the smart phone.
All in all a great afternoon spent in the Byron shire.

Today I was minus my dog and I could make it into GZ. This took a little bit of a search as it is very well hidden. Great container. A favourite point from me for all of the hard work in setting this up. One to do with the kids for those lucky enough to have little people or grandchildren. Thanks Chizzi.
Woohoo! Joint FTF with JR Watts this took us 2 and a half hours to get to, but it was worth it when we made it to GZ we were faced with a ton of possible places it could be, and after about 30 minutes of searching, I stumbled onto it purely by accident! VERY CLEVER HIDE! we admired the contents of the cache, played with the stuff for a bit, then signed the log and left a pen. Glad you picked this spot to leave it. Thanks very much chizzi and surge_forward !! This is certainly a favourite point of mine
Fantastic Cache Chizzi and S. Forward. Some on the best parts of The Byron Shire. FTF - JR Watts and Rheakm
BOOYA MOTHERLOVERS!!
BOOYA MOTHERLOVERS!!
This is our first Multicache. Please leave your thoughts in the log, without giving too much away.
