Smile Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit & doing the things that we want to do we were visiting the Bay of Islands for a few days & we decided that we needed to go for a bit of a drive headed to the Mimiwhangata Peninsula with a view to walking some tracks & doing some caches did a couple but the weather conspired against us, so cut things short this cache was easily found, logbook completed & returned pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:SL #5,049 for Us!

Out for a walk around the Peninsula headand track today to see some new places and hopefully find the caches along the way.A lovely deserted beach today so no muggle problems at all and with the good hint, it didn't take long to locate the well anchored cache. Signed the log, took a note of the bonus numbers and then replaced securely as found. TFTC

After a lovely family get-together at the lodge we set off to explore the area. This cache took us to a lovely beach and great view. The children loved the challenge of this one and we were all bone-tired at the end .

I'm back up North for the New Year period, staying with family in Whangarei. Today I decided to head out to Mimiwhangata, to do a few walks and pick up the caches out there - I haven't been out here for a very long time! It was another stunning day and I started off by walking the Peninsula Loop Walk, following that up with the Puriri Track (and a detour to the Te Aroha Trail and back again!) before finishing off with the Tohumoana Lookout Track - all in all quite a long day out, with some neat caches to find!

This was my first find of the day, after walking along the empty beach to GZ. A quick find at GZ, TFTC!

A beautiful near deserted beach, a bit of a stretch to retrieve another great cache in this series.

A gentle stroll down to GZ, and again with no obvious path, we followed the mown track, then I suggested going over to the corner of the fence, and climbing over. There was a track past the trap, and through the sand dunes to the beach.

We were not alone, fellow campers who were exploring the bay. We went off to the hide, and with a bit of a scramble urbangypsynz with here longer reach, soon had the cache. Another clever cache container. No problems with the log, lovely and dry. Although you could see it had got wet in the past! Thanks for the hide, co-ords noted as I am on a mission to find the puzzle hide Big Grin

Staying at the lodge with friends and took a group out to explore the northern section of the park. A fantastic part of the world and a very fun container tying in perfectly with the story, which I read out loud to the group as we walked. A former muggle made the find, converting her quickly. Expect to see Team Mooch show up on some north shore logs soon!!!

Cool container ! TFTC ... Another lovely sunny early summer day ....

What a hot container ! We discovered we had no pen in the pack so had to improvise with a twig dipped in betadine...looked very authentic to mark our FTF. Mimiwhangata is ablaze with flowering flax but not a tui to be seen!
