After a long day at work ziggiau suggested a little adventure to mix things up. After meeting up with Team MavEtJu we headed off following only shiny things (the stars and planets were really bright this evening too). After a slight wrong turn, we corrected our error and had the CIH.

28-Aug-16
This was my first ever night cache and I really enjoyed it. Felt better about it being in a team, especially having to get used to wearing a headlamp, but we worked together to solve this one.

"Come with me", she said, "and we'll go some night caches!". What she didn't tell me was that these were on the other side of the George river and, to make things worse, the M4 motorway. It was in the Hills district!

This was the first one for the day^Wnight and after being initially confused with the reflective markers on the poles next to the road just behind the fence, the right ones were found and we were on our way. We had a little struggle later on when turning but the path was found again. TFTC!

27-Aug-16
Tonight our little group made an attempt at a number of night caches seeing as there aren't many in Sydney, we thought we could get three done in one evening. This was the first. Met Team MavEtJu at the gate to the park (a little late, sorry!) and headed up to the starting point. Instructions in the description were great and it was easy to navigate through the first section. But when we got to the turning point we headed off a little further afield than required. Soggy underfoot, we cautiously returned to the initial starting point without slipping over. Re-reading the description and some previous logs, we were able to make sense of where to head next. Markers spotted, it was an easy find in the end. A great start to our evening and a big thanks to Team Sunderland for placing and maintaining this night cache.

Well I thought to myself I need a break from everything. So I packed my bags and headed out the door and headed for nsw/Canberra. And the goal was to find some caches along the way so here we are. Thanks for taking me to this location. TFTC. This could do with a go over even tho you really could just get the cache quite easy if you can follow directions.

This was our first multi-cache. It was lot of fun doing it at night time in a drizzle with iPhone as our only source of light. Once we found the first tack we were on the track. Very enjoyable. TFTC

found this one a while ago with my family and forgot to log, whoops. haha TFTC Smile

11-May-16
Found. After previous dnf decided to try again as I was in the area. Bingo . TFTC

Tried this in daylight as I was right by the area today. Followed the tacks turned right. Picked up next two then blank. Checked all trees in 50mtrs but missed further tacks. I will be back.

03-Apr-16
Well this was differently a fun cache to do
I should have come at night but if you follow it alone like the hint said, you will find it.

19/10/15. 7:45 PM. Cache #3123. Streak day #484.

Just this one cache tonight, in Bella Vista - after a busy day I only had the option of a night cache and they're getting further and further from home.

It was still light when I left home, and twilight by the time I parked near the tennis courts (not wanting to get locked out). Following the main line of trees was easy enough - those tacks that I could see were fairly far apart, but close enough to confirm I was on the right track.

The line of trees had to terminate at a fence, so I turned 90 degrees and found one more tack as I followed the fence line north-east. There was only one more tree after that, so I was at a bit of a loss.

After phoning a friend, I discovered that the instructions should have said something like this: turn 90 degrees again (this would send me south-east), walk down the hill past no trees for about 50 metres and then finally you'll pick up another tack.

In fact, while I was still on the phone to my PAF, I saw the three tacks almost immediately after seeing one. Then, remembering the hint, a quick cache in hand. Signed, replaced and head for home. A nice quick one to keep the streak alive. TFTC.

Met up with Mr Malkovich to attempt this cache. We parked in the soccer carpark and wondered if we might get locked in. We decided it would be alright so off we went. Once at GZ we saw the cache was definitely a D1. So we started walking back to the carpark and heard the gate swinging shut. We ran to the cars and lucky reached the gate before the person closing them drive off. Phew...we nearly had to walk home.

I met up with Ken479 after dark and we parked in the top carpark. The footy players looked like they were packing up as we headed off, following tiny dots of light. After the second pathtag, I spotted a single rabbit, and he darted off. Within 5 more minutes we had CIH. As we were walking back to the cars, I heard the clanking of chains. The gate being closed! We bolted for the cars and managed to reach the gate just as the last guy was leaving. "You're so lucky!" said the guy. "I was about 35 seconds away from being gooone. It would've cost you $400 to open it again."
That didn't phase me - I just would've left my car there. Smile Thanks for some exercise, TS!

I never get around to the night caches not going out at night much except when away from home. I was a bit early for this one as things didn't stand out too well at first but I could actually see the tacks so kept going. After the turn I spotted one tack but like another DNFer I couldn't find a thing on any tree for a fair way around. Finally picked up another one but then looked all the way down and fanned out before coming back and spotting the cache on the ground before I looked up and spotted the tacks. I signed the log and then returned the camo that was nearby as described in the hint. It really needs a couple more tacks somewhere before the final.

Thanks!

Out and about with a bunch of scouts looking for this, just followed the instructions on the page and kept looking for tacks when i couldn't see any more, so i figured i was at the spot of direction change. Quick find once at GZ. TFTC all good almost finished one side of log

Had a really big torch so it shows things up well. Turned right to only find one fire tack on the first tree. There was only one tree after that and it had no fire tacks and no cache

can the CO confirm it is there

07-Apr-15
I looked for a good 30 mins and couldn't find it I don't believe it is here anymore

Streak day #104 - I had spotted this one when I came out for tryouts and was waiting for the right time to grab it. After completing my first training session with my new ice hockey team I had enough time to grab this one before heading back home. It was a nice change to be doing a cache at night that was actually recommended to be done at night. I grabbed the torch that lives in my car and headed off to follow the twinkly reflections, hoping no one on the nearby soccer field would notice me. I was a little worried that I would miss the mentioned turn off, but everything went smoothly and it wasn't long until I had CIH. Signing duties done I wandered back to the car. I found the beware of falling pine cones signs rather amusing. I wonder if someone got a shock one day and blamed council. Hehe. TFTC

Recently, I've taken up a new position at Castle Hill Country Club. In doing, I travel through this area early for a 5am start. This night cache was a good one to do before work. Although it was a bit difficult to find the tacs by torch, but you could follow the trees easy enough. Again, it was a bit difficult to find the tacs after the right turn, but I was lucky to spot the tree with the three tacs! GZ, cache was found easy and quickly! A neat little night cache. TFTC.

My 600th find!

A lovely warm night for caching with GeoMum. As we were getting near the start of the trail another car pulled up at the nearby closed gate. Wondered if they were cachers, waited a couple of minutes but nobody got out. Saw a cyclist ride past from the other side of the gate but no movement from the car. Not knowing what they were up to, we decided to leave them to it and abort the search for the night. As we were heading back to the car, they drove off leaving us to cache in peace.

Took a while to spot the first tack but followed the description so knew we were on the right track. Once the first one was spotted had no problem following the trail to GZ to make the find.

Didn't spot any wildlife on the way around.

Nice evening stroll and easily found in the end. Set up the way a night cache should be. Thanks for going to the effort. Saw some micro bats, spiders and moths on the native side of things. Shoot ferals. TFTC

23-Sep-14
I was thinking of the song "Bright Eyes" from Watership Down. While I did spot a few bunnies at the end, they did not account for the thousands of eyes reflecting back my torchlight. They belonged to the colony of giant Wolf Spiders that escorted me off the premises after finding the cache.
Thanks for another night cache.

20th find for the day. Keep following track and tacks around in a loop

27-Jul-14
First, an admission: PandaKeike and I attempted this one at sundown while there was still some light, wasn't quite a night cache.

We followed the treeline, made the 90 degree turn and were thrown off for a bit. After following the instructions of previous finders, we took another turn to check out some more trees before hitting gold.

Left a little something in the case for the next person along (it's meant to be worn around the wrist). TFTC!

I have been meaning to do this one for a while. Headed out for an enjoyable trek on the top of this ridge. Great views from here. You can see this trees clearly from the towers at Wet'n'Wild ... along with a couple of water towers...

Found myself reflecting on caching as I walked to GZ. A quick find after that.

Thanks for an interesting multi TS. Fave awarded.

This one's been sitting in my to do list for a while being so close to home. We'd been waiting for a suitably balmy evening to go out and complete it. The mercury still had the temp at about 33C at 8:30 so tonight was the night. I conned the family into joining me on the pretext of looking at the Christmas lights. I was a bit nervous walking along under the Bunya Pines, have you seen the size of the cones on these things, they are like spikey soccer balls! We followed the trail of trees took a right and lost the trail. Another 90degree turn and we were back on track with the sounds of Shakespeare in the background. Once at GZ it was an easy find. It was then off to look at the Christmas lights!

We had been to the Bella Vista historic home to see a performance of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. It seemed like a good opportunity to do this one. We started at the suggested coordinates and followed the tacks. We passed by the location of a previous cache and ended up not too far from where we had watched the play. In fact, there was still a number of people there, socialising. We could see and hear them easily.

But by this stage we realised we were having trouble finding the next tack. We read a few logs and were reassured that others had had the same difficulty. So we persevered and soon found the right way to go. After that, it was a short walk and an easy find. Thanks

#2,351

We spent the evening at the nearby Bella Vista Farm, enjoying Much Ado About Nothing. When it finished, we headed around the corner in search of the night cache.

At first the tacks were easy to follow, but once we'd made it back to a spot where we could where we'd been sitting just a short time before, we lost the trail temporarily. Previous logs reassured us that others had also lost the trail at this point, but were able to pick it up again. So we looked & looked & suddenly spotted another tack! We were back on track.

Quick walk after that & we had GZ found. And bikerbuddy made a quick find of the actual cache.

Thanks, always enjoy getting out for a night cacheSmile

Found this cache some time back and haven't log it yet. Arrived at the suggested start to this night cache while it was still day light and a setting sun. Followed tacks but only got half way when I needed to PAF as the the dusk light wasn't helpingto locate the tacks. With the extra PAF help I was able to locate the cache with Geosons in tow. Thanks TS for bringing me back here as there use to be a cache here years ago.
Cheers

Due to the gloomy day, night fell a lot earlier than usual and thought now would be a good time to do a night cache as the days will only get longer. Only problem with the parking WP is you need to have the gates open. Parked near the gates and headed into the park with my 2 geodogs. Geodog #2 loved the wide open spaces to run amuck and told me this area deserves a fav point. I've always admired this line of trees and never knew how to get up close, now I do! So with my little light and bats swirling overhead we followed the line of tacks until we got to GZ. SL #1060 on streak day #474 TFTC fav awarded by geodog #2

OK, I'll admit this upfront. Daytime cache!!! Came past while doing PPE's multi nearby. Just thought I'd take a chance and sure enough I found some sparkly things. Followed them along and then turned and after a short while I lost the scent. Hmmm...I retraced my steps and after about 10min, I saw what I needed. Ahhh, here we go...SL and replaced again. Thanx for the night time multi TS, sorry it was day time Red Face TFTC.

I needed a brighter torch, but this was still a fun night walk with the noisy night creatures very active tonight.

The gates were closed tonight, so I parked just down the road and wandered up to GZ. The trail of tacks were quite easy to spot and after a very peaceful walk, I had cih.
A very pretty spot even at night.
Thx TS

After posting a message in the Western Sydney Geocaching page about being at this one at around 7.15pm I turned up and there was a car parked in the dark near a gate so I get out and say to the guy "ok let's go your here for the same thing I am lets do this!!! It's my first one at night I'm looking forward to this" well the answer I got was rather interesting and I had to back peddle a bit and explain that I was into geocaching and that basically I use billion dollar satellites to find $2 Tupperware containers. The guy relaxed a little after that and was glad that I was in fact not propositioning him. After that little embarrassing mistake I park my car at the gate and head to ground zero and was alone just me and signal a torch, pen and my phone read the description and away I went found my first tack and set off on my first night cache experience which was off to a shaky start already! Follow the trail easily and make my way to the cache. Unroll the log and see Martin Cousins had already been so signed under his name and started to head back to the car when I spot 2 ppl walking along the tree line with a torch so I head over to them and yes this time they were cachers sigh of relief was nice to finally meet Snoopy and Casper after doing the log duties headed back towards the cars and talked about geo stuff. Thanks TS for my first night cache I did enjoy it even if I did make a guy think I was propositioning him!!

17-Sep-13
Rang Casper73 to drag him out to this one as he gets up at a ridiculous hour in the AM so off we went...but didnt look at FB... saw a car at the gate and new that someone was here already but so dark no one insight. ..walked to back of car and saw a TB sticker so discovered that in case the cacher received a notification so they knew we were here, upon discovering the TB I noticed that it was HappyPaintball's vehicle and was hoping to bump into him as I have done many of his caches recently, anyway we started off and was explaining to Casper73 what we had to look for as it was his first night cache and my third hahaha so half way along I see someone walking towards us and low and behold it was indeed HappyPaintball, so glad to meet u finally HP, so he walked back to GZ with us, signed log...and then back to the car for a chat about geostuff and ppl we have met on our adventures... Thanks TS for the night cache experience!

FTF, 3rd one of these in 3 weeks. Followed on from PPE's multi.
Tacks were easily spotted and no troubles at GZ. Amazing how many muggles are around at twilight, kept torch beam private, not to highlight my presence. Nice multi TS,
