Out today on the rail trail with 2beez for a nice ride, laughs, sightseeing and some geocaching.
Lovely day and great way to enjoy the outdoors.
Thanks for the cache and adding geoing to the ride.

Signing the log when we heard coughing . . . and there was no one else here ? ? ? Spooky Maybe that's who keeps filling this cache up with water!! Signed with our never-say-die pen only it did kinda die. TFTC Highrod.
We did find the cache, easily but very wet
**Find #818 on 23/10/2016 at12:41:00 PM**
On the bikes riding the BSRT with jascat and geojill_11 for the two long weekends, this geocache was found, we had a great time thanks to all the cache owners for showing this trail to us! some amazing places along this trail, not to forget some good memories and caches!
Main Log for each day can be found on "GC5TPE3" "Lovely Linton"

Number 8 for the day. A little bit of searching cache is very wet and also log. TFTC
Walking from Smythesdale to Nimmons bridge and doing as many geocaches along the way as I could. Didn't realise this one had been disabled so we did go looking and found it without too much difficulty. Does need checking up on though as it was very wet. Emptied out the water but had nothing on us to dry it properly or to replace the log.
1:31:00 PM. Back walking the trail. A cooler day with some showers around. A good day to be out walking as it wasn't too hot. Another walkby and find. Log signed. Thanks highrod for placing this cache.
The aim for today was to go to the furtherest point on the rail trail and work our way back to see how far we'd get. Only doing the ones we can get to easily from access points as we're walking. We had one DNF for the day and hopefully all the walking can counteract some of the overindulgences of our holiday. Apologies for the generic logs. TFTC
The 3FW's from SA have invaded Ballarat and headed for the BSRT. Find, sign, cycle, repeat... Saturday was a great day to be on the trail. Fog at the beginning and the sun just coming out at the end. We found all of the caches except two. One was missing and we left a replacement log. The other was just too good for us. You can't find them all.
Day 2 of our caching trip to Ballarat with Freddo and Team Waldron, we had an ejoyable ride along this trail finding the caches as we went, logs were signed 3FW to save space in the log books.TFTC
Heading over to Ballarat for a caching weekend and picking up a few caches on the way.
We managed to find about 230 caches in 3 days/ot bad work for 3 old guys
This series was why we came over to Ballarat.
We woke to a misty day and luckily it stayed overcast until we finished.
It was interesting to see the cache hides change as the hiders changed. We weren't fans of the bison tubes in the trees but that's the way it goes sometimes.
We missed a few but it didn't matter too much as there are lots more to find.
Thanks for an excellent series.

Afternoon bike ride from Smythesdale to Old Glenelg Road. Good weather and good easy finds . TNLN TFTC highrod.
Yay we found it, was hot, but we are wanting to explore just a bit further...
Left Melbourne yesterday, and set up camp at the Creswick Caravan Park.
After Alansee and Team Crackers arrived, we enjoyed the open fire place in the camp kitchen.
Today we headed out on the bikes, to attempt another section of the rail trail.
Once again, we were not disappointed with the variety of good quality hides.
A fun day was had, in the company of good friends.
Many thanks for placing this series of caches, highrod, for us and others to find.

Camping at Creswick for the weekend with The Drovers & Alansee with one of the main aims being to grab some of this rail trail whilst alansee & The Drovers finished it off.
We started at Barbed Burl and worked our way right through to Linton.
We really enjoyed the ride although the head wind was a bit annoying at times and we were happy that we only had one DNF for the whole lot although some did have us looking for quite awhile.
We all enjoyed the variety of hides and some of the fantastic scenery that we saw along the way.
We are really looking forward to returning to complete the rest.
Thanks for the series, we apologize for the generic log, there were too many in a short amount of time to remember them all individually.

We are staying in Smythesdale for a couple of nights. Being conveyed to Linton to do the BSRT back to Smythesdale plus grab a couple of others. Most grateful that I included the "LRT" (log recovery tool) in my pocket as it came in handy to retrieve several logs from their caches. The ride was pleasant, cool enough for no wriggly-sticks.
Trying to make a note for each cache with an average spacing of about 200M on one's own when cycling is virtually impossible and to recall each of dozens of caches at the end of a day just wouldn't happen. Sorry for the generic logs.
It is great (we don't think so) that we cannot get NBN and have to use mobile data internet. Our service either goes "down" to at best very slow. Sometime soon my finds of 12/10/2015 will all be logged.
Thanks to cache owners for the experience.
Enjoyed the flora and fauna along the trail.
Have just had a reality check - solo riding on a cache bombed trail is far more time consuming than estimated. From here on if a hide is not quickly found, it will be logged as a DNF to ensure the clock does not well and truly get me into further "time debt"!

Out on a lovely hot day caching with Stashaa. Great series along the Ballarat Skipton Rail Trail. Nice, easy, quick find. The cache needs maintenance. Inside of cache all wet including log book. Thanks For The Cache highrod.
A beautiful day for tidying up some green on the trail today with The Glanville Girls. Thanks for the caches highrod.
BernieH and gmj made the find on this one, it was quite wet. We picked this cache up at 11:24am. Whilst the log signing was conducted, I was busy catching up on my cache notes.
SirJ-Oz, Annoying Tarbit and I hatched a plan to head to the east and pick up some of the caches along the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail. I had been here just over 2 years previously with group to collect the first half, so it was well time to come and collect the rest. gmj3191 (a member of the previous group) and BernieH also joined us, along with non-caching Pam.
Thanks for the cache and the series highrod.

Find #2129. Found @ 11:23 with LouiseAnn, Annoying Tarbit, gmj3191 (and PamJ), and BernieH.
Today was all about the BSRT series from Smythesdale to Linton. This was find #7 of #55, with #1 DNFs thrown in for good measure.
For some reason I was lagging behind on this cache and BernieH made the find before I arrived on scene. I tried to work out which of the surrounding areas was "Spooky Hollow", I had a good look around but nothing jumped out at me .
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache highrod

Another fine plan from LousieAnn to tackle the Smythesdale to Linton section of Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail and hunt the caches along the way. We arrived with 6 bikes and 4 cars so once we had headed to leave my car at the end point for later we were off. A bumper day of 61 finds for me including 54 finds and 3 DNFs on or near the rail trail. We had the luck of a beautiful spring day and tee-shirt heat as we pedalled our way through this very pleasant countryside.
BernieH was steaming ahead here and had the cache in had by the time the rest of us slackers pulled up on our bikes. The log was wet here but we left our mark and were back on the way. We mused where spooky hollow might be but none of it looked too foreboding on a lovely day such as this. Thanks to highrod for the cache and this excellent series and thanks to my companions for great company on a fun day of caching.

Time: 11:24 am
Date: Sun 27 Sep 2015
Today was spent cycling the Smythesdale to Linton section of the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail.
Our group was composed of LouiseAnn, BernieH, Sir J-Oz, Annoying Tarbit and wife Pam.
We had a great time. I haven't kept detailed notes on all finds but one or two stood out for a special mention.
It was a magnificent day, getting up to about 18 degrees, and for the most part was sunny with no wind. We generally felt this section was a bit more interesting than the previous section which most of us rode about two years ago.
Thanks for placing this cache highrod

Travelled up to Ballarat from Melbourne to do the BSRT between Smythesdale and Linton with some friends. Met gmj3191 (and GeoWife Pam), LouiseAnn, SirJ-Oz and Annoying Tarbit at Smythesdale where we organised a car drop to Linton and then commenced or ride at about 10:30 am. Enjoyed some great scenery and cache hides along the way and finished in Linton at about 4:30 pm.
My turn for a find, this cache was a bit wet, dried as best we could.

Well a few days in Ballarat has turned into a fortnight.
Today though it was time to say Goodbye to Ballarat (well almost) as we moved to Smythesdale.
Was nearly 2pm before we jumped on our bikes to tackle some more of the BSRT.
We saw lots out and about today, including ........... wait for it.............. Some sunshine! [:o)]
Also saw lots of horses, cows, sheep, goats, dogs, muggles and even a dead fox.
The weather was fairly mild compared to what it's been so a very enjoyable cycle ride until the sun disappeared at dark o'clock then the last little bit of the ride was very chilly.

We set out today to finish the BSRT series. We parked at Careys Rd and unhitched the push bikes. The forecast was for showers and we came prepared.Luckily the rain didn’t eventuate. This one tested our patience the GPS wasn't playing the game and it took quite some time to find. Thanks highrod.
Found with Shamus1, GenieJoan and 08151505, as we attempted to add some smiles to the trail, and enjoy a lovely walk, Log was a bit damp but still able to sign. TFTC
Having parted company with Mi5sie and her 2 geo-kiddies, we continued on. Just Shamus1, Cherad, 08151605 and I were left to trudge on to the waiting geo-mobile. Luckily we still had one geo-kiddie with us to do the scrambling, climbing and crawling. Another damp cache and log. TFTC
A day out with Cherad, geniejoan and 081516105 to do a section of the BSRT and after mi5sie had to head off for family stuff the rest of us countinued on. Nice one! TFTC
On our regular Wednesday after school caching run with McLookers, Tomstache, Glanville Girls and Motndarg. This was the first find for the afternoon. Thanks highrod.

Thanks for bringing me here.
Thanks for bringing me here.
Having a day off midweek meant I could come up to B'rat with Tess the geodog and Sorceysal and try to complete the series without the weekend crowd. This was a tough find on the ride today, really struggled to locate it due to it being 'not' in one of the normal places we expect. Nice to see these good sized containers once again. Thanks for your contribution to the series highrod.
* Log wet here.
Wow, Spooky Hollow, good job we didn't know what it meant, but another good cache and we soon had it signed and we were on our way. Starting to get warmer and lose the morning chill we had when we arrived. So far so good, the walk is still pleasant and relatively level.
Thanks highrod.

Stayed at a campsite in smythesdale and spent the afternoon caching along the rail trail. Log was found a bit soggy though.
Found by Mary & David at 1443. A great day on the BSRT at last. The views everywhere were just great, and the many information signs were fascinating. The ride took about 8½ hours, for 63 finds and 1 DNF. Took a little longer to find than most, as it wasn't in a more obvious spot. Our thanks to highrod.
Some prickly things around here!! Ilovedrwho got rightly covered in them. Cache was found after checking some logs...

Main reason for being in Ballarat was to ride this rail trail. Had heard about it from one of the CO's a couple of years when we met out Phillip Island way (on another rail trail) but these two days were first chance I had to get down here.
Found all caches bar one....which was towards end of the series. All up, a good ride and a fun way to spend a few hours grabbing a few caches.
Thanks to alll the CO's. Apologies for the generic logs.

What else do geocachers do when having a weekend away geocaching[?]
Take some friends and make it a darned good weekend!
Moneydork, Tounga, Sushilord, Uni & Medusa, Skippy & Audra and myself headed to Ballarat and we had a blast!
Enjoyed tea with some local geocachers on Saturday night: Sully1, Bogong Hazy and Snaphappy [^]
Kayaked on Sunday and then rode pushbikes too
The things we do for geocache finds, I haven't been on a bike for years!
All up, I found 113 caches and had 4 DNFs
We even managed to find some that we had DNFd last time!
I apologise now for the generic logs on these caches. I am unexpectedly heading back to the area now, about 5 weeks later, and am madly logging so that I know what I have and haven't found.
Please understand that due to some issues this end, I have been short on time and therefore haven't logged these as I would normally do, with a seperate comment for each cache.
I thank each and every cache owner for the wonderful caches which we found in the suburbs and in the bush!

I did this series with the Super Seven Team from South Australia.
We had a great time and the series certainly increased our find count for the day after a morning of doing kayak caches.

Well my finding powers have eluded me here so this is the end for the day. Will start here on my next stroll along the trail. Thanks for the caches.
We set aside today as a caching day to boost our wellbeing and our cache numbers. We walked up and down a couple of sections of the BSRT Rail Trail and found some more caches in the Skipton and Ballarat areas. We ended up walking nearly 20 km and are now glad to be home again. Thank you to the COs whose hides we visited today! It is always great to have caches lined up where no motorised traffic will bother us. Not only that, we did not even see a pedestrian or a bike muggle during our quest. On a trail, of course, there is always "one more" ... something we were saying and thinking a lot today.
We saw the hollow and left it to the fauna to check it out. Glad the cache was not in there.

Today was the day we finally made it it to this part of the world to ride this trail. With the combined power of The Tritonz and myself, it made for a very enjoyable day. It had been a while since we had ridden, but it all came back to us very quick. We were spoiled with perfect weather and an abundance of wildlife. The scenery and the flora were well worth the trip up from Geelong. There was only 1 DNF for the whole ride !! Thanks to all the CO's for a great day out. TFTC.
The day was looking good and caches where calling our name, so David (DAB) and I set off on a mission to do the Ballarat-Skipton Rail Trail. The weather was in our favour the entire day, with the sun shinning, the birds chirping and with good company it was a very enjoyable day. We only had one DNF on the trail so we were happy with that. Thanks to all involved in setting up this series with the great variety of caches.
I went out today caching with Dunko and his mate Slink1. I am new to this but it is a lot of fun and the hides were good. thanks for the cache SL.
Out on a bit of a road trip with Dunko and Joseph. We drove, rode and walked our way to collect

Find #304 at 2:03, hmm I don't have too much to say about this coz my gps was taking me over the other side. Though we did discover if you kick the pines green dust comes off looks cool! Well, this morning we got up early, had a quick breakfast and then packed the car ready for a full day of geocaching. We stopped at bannockburn for coffees and then hit the road heading for Ballarat to complete the trail that we had started a few months ago. We still have 3 at the start to complete. Big thanks to CO's associated with these caches. The scenery is breathtaking and we saw a lot of animals, horses, goats, sheep to name a few. What a GREAT day!
Headed out this morning to walk from Scarsdale to Smythesdale on the BSRT. Picked up all 14 of HighRod's caches - thanks so much. All are nice and easy to find. Perfect to bring kids as they can swap til their hearts content (pity I didn't have them)!
This part of the trail in particular is beautiful. Small houses starting in town, to houses on a few acres and more established farms. The track shows wide spaces, a pine forest, lots of natives and plenty of animals. Today I saw heaps of birds, plus sheep, cows, horses, goats and alpacas.
The multi-cache in the cemetery is also very easy and adds something different on the walk back!
Thanks so much for this series - very much appreciated.

Tftc. Another quick find again. Much easier than our quick glance after dark lay night
Last year my Boxing Day attempt at cleaning out the BSRT saw this one as a DNF.
Today, on Mothers Day I was determined to grab it.
In the geomobile today I pulled up at the point where the rail-trail and road meet. After a short walk I was soon at GZ. The GPSr jumped a bit, but with the application of some logic the cache was soon found. All I had to do now was to sign it and return it which I dutifully did.
Some very colourful toadstools have sprung up in this area!!
