18-Jan-14
Much as I would have liked to attend this I was unable to make it on a Wednesday night.

But, is it time for this to be archived?

18-Jan-14
I was planning on archiving soon but I was hoping someone would pick up the remaining TBs which I had to mark as missing. Time to go now.

We hope to see many of you throughout the year at events and otherwise.

There are still two trackables that are logged in the event. They are:

Trakabulldog Geocoin
GeoCookie Geocoin

If you have either one or both of these, please log them online.

Thanks!

18-Dec-13
(finally) just got around to uploading our photos from the event.

There are still 4 trackballs logged as in the event. If you picked them up, please log them so that the owners know where they are!!

As usual a great zargfinders event, thanks for all the work you put in to organising it (and the caches during the year). It was good catching up with some familiar faces as well as putting faces to the logbook names.
Have a Merry and safe Christmas.

I took home 2 trackables, will find them home soon so they get moved around

Being part of an event with so many happy Cachers certainly got our Festive Season off to a fine start. Thanks Zargfinders for organising such an amazing event.

We planned an "early" Santa Run to Harbord so we could attend this event on the way. Extremely heavy traffic in the CBD and on the Bridge put us a long way behind our planned schedule and the almost two-hour drive from work to home to the event unfortunately prevented us from participating in most of the activities. But, as usual, we got to catch up with some friends and had the opportunity to meet other cachers who we had not met before. It certainly made the slow drive well worthwhile. We're looking forward to next year's event and we hope to be able to make a more-timely arrival next time.

Thx for this great event. It was my first event and it was so fun. thx Zargfinders for bringing me to this event.

11-Dec-13
What a great event. Very well organised complete with a quiz/challenge designed to get you to meet everyone else who came. Always a pleasure to meet fellow cachers and get a few clues for those niggly ones I haven't found. Also a great location. As a youngster I used to come to the nearby cliff to jump off - this place has good memories for me.

TFTEC Zargfinders, also a big thanks to Capt'n and Mrs Flint for the ride home!

11-Dec-13
Thanks Zargfinders for another great event, well planned and well organised as usual. Loved the Geo-bingo as we managed to meet lots of geocachers which signatures we only seen in the logbooks. Little Manly beach is a lovely place and the weather was beautiful - what more can you ask for!

11-Dec-13
After a morning finding a few caches that involved mud, quagmires, and possibly semi-tropical diseases, it was a nice Christmassy end to the day to attend this party.

However, despite two showers between the morning and the afternoon, as I sit here typing this log, I can still smell the unmistakeable odour of swampiness - maybe this explains some of the strange looks I was getting at Manly ?!?

Great to put some more faces to names. And thanks for all your hard work organising the day. Maybe next year, you'll be lucky enough not to get my present Smile

11-Dec-13
Many thanks for organizing this great event – I had a lot of fun. Unfortunately I had to leave very early...
Being first at the event site I was given a little gift – one of that kind that leaves no longer excuses for not publishing a cache Wink. Be sure that the published cache will have a relation to Australia and that I will inform you as soon as it is published.
Many thanks again for that unforgettable moment Smile

Really nice vibe for this event. Fabulous weather? Tick! Unbelievable harbour views? Tick! Putting faces to names? Tick! Fun? Two ticks!

I haven't had this many ticks in a long time. No, hang on, there was that bush bash two weeks ago....

Zargies, many thanks for a great event.

11-Dec-13
Thanks zargfinders for a great event.

A great setting and had some fun putting some more names to faces and finding people who'd introduced more than 5 people to caching Wink

Everything was very well planned and I can safely say that I enjoyed the night.

Decided to do a bit of cacheing in manly on the way in and got a $236 fine for parking to close to an intersection so it was Paul the unhappy hippy.

But once the event started had a great time and soon all was forgotten. Completed an experiment that if you say the same joke often enough people will eventually laugh. No I don't need to comb my hair for a photo. A lot of kids got stamped and food was eaten.

Thanks to the organisers and other attendees for making an enjoyable evening.

Lifted lots of bugs to go to Melbourne. N

11-Dec-13
This was a fantastically organised event and tons of fun to be a part of. A big thank you to zargfinders for hosting and I enjoyed getting to meet a lot of new faces from the Sydney region and seeing a few familiar faces again.

Great event, Great turn-out, Great games, and tons of fun!!!

11-Dec-13
We came a bit late but still thoroughly enjoyed this very well organised event. Good seeing geocaching friends and meeting new ones. Thanks zargfinders!

Thank you so much for organizing this event. It was a great pleasure to meet experienced cachers...so many impressive records. Wishing the entire Team Special was there, oh well, we gotta have someone tackling world problems from time to time Smile) And massive thanks for the lovely present from Baby J Man(Sorry if i typed your name wrongly, I'm so bad with names). Looking forward to the next event-Team Special 2/3

11/12/13. 5:50 PM. Cache #1133. What can I say, a great event; probably one of the biggest I've been to attendance-wise. December turned on a great evening for this one. Geo Bingo was on as soon as I turned up with Yelyac and Techno Marksman and for the three of us this was a great ice breaker and good way to catch up - not only with familiar cachers that we've met before but also to put even more faces to names that we've seen in logs here and there. Plenty of geo talk followed, and we did the group photo thang and the swapping of gifts.

Even took time to head over to nearby caches - The Gasworks (tick) and Doctor Who - The Impossible Astronaut (not so much). We spent so long at the latter that the event had finished.

Great to catch up with so many good friends. Hopefully we can make it along to one of the other upcoming events too. Thanks for organising, zargfinders. What a lovely location. I'd give a fave if I could.

And tonight I was Kid Ron Santa. It's not Ho Ho Ho, it's H6 H6 H6.

What an excellent event! The bingo activity was a great idea (kinda cacher speed dating?) as was the SecretSanta (who was very generous). Plenty of good company and a glorious evening. Pity you can't get faves for events, eh zargfinders. Top work, thanks a lot.

#257 (1 of 3 today)

What a wonderful event (only my second), run with great skill by the zargfinders. I had a fun time.

Great to catch up again with cachers I met at the Space event, and to meet new cachers (some of whom I recognise from their logs) - with a special mention to those who hail from overseas.

Was stunned to win the icebreaker - thanks to all those who signed my sheet - I'll put my bugs to good use.
Was it my imagination, or were a significant percentage of the presents cache containers? Big Grin

At the end I went off with a group to look for Doctor Who - The Impossible Astronaut but it didn't rise from the depths while I was there... but that's for another log.

Second ever event done. Was great to catch up with so many familler faces I had met at the space event and so great to meet a number if new faces to put to names. Thanks to the zargfinders for arranging this get together was the best time ever. Hope to meet you all again out there in the caching wild.

11-Dec-13
AN excellent afternoon! Came down from the central coast in hope to do the manly dam series but left it too late. Arived at the park just in time to wrap the present and headed down to the exremely well run event fairly different to the less organised ones I have been to in the past. The bingo was great for getting to know both old and new faces and was an awesome icebreaker. Had a photo with everyone and then got an amo tin. What more could you ask for? Thanks Zargfinders. TFTC!!!!!

Had a great time. More later when we can get online better! Wifi is $11.00 / hour at our hotel... Gotta find more free hotspots.

1645 "GAFF1" Arrived a little early, as I had come straight down from a Christmas party at Newcastle with my sisters, so had to get the caching done at other times!
While I had heard of the GeoBingo being done at another Event I had been to, this was the first one I had done. Great fun trying to work out who was the best to get to sign off for different squares! Since my holidays I was much better prepared this time!
Thank you SO MUCH all of the Zargfinders for the great Event, and even got a photo taken with some of the GeoMoose.
Great to catch up with 'old' caching friends, but GREAT to find cachers that had found a REMOTE cache here from their overseas journey!
Brought through for mileage: 12-12-12 Event, 3 Bros NSW, Auckland NZ'13, B 2 B Travel ingot, Iconic Bridges 2012, cache critters Baa, Neigh Neddy, and Oink, NZ Mega 2013 GCookie Coin, and trackable shirts.
And dropped off, bringing in for mileage: BEAGLE BIXBY, BROWN BEAR 15, Captain Toonz California Raisin, Christmas Joy Geocoin, Coin of Danmark, DyerMkr's Copper Triple Dragon Geocoin, Geocachers Day Geo Coin, GeoCookie Geocoin, Horace, KING KACHE, land rover, Lil' Miss TB, PAP, Raban, Rienan TB, steben6's DNF Duo - Super Cacher Geocoin, The Lord of the caches - Earth, Trakabulldog geocoin, and VIRGINia TAG.

Attended the Christmas party while in Sydney. I had a great time and got a chance to meet a bunch of locals. I was also not the only American there which was cool. I liked the bingo game as it forced me to get out and talk with others. Thanks for the wonderful event.

Nice location for an event. Great to meet many old faces again - some new ones also.
This was a very well attended "meet & greet" event. Congratulations to the Zargfinders for organising such a good event. Seasons greeting to all cachers. Look forward to similar events in the new year.

What a fantastic event this was. Well organised. It was great to see so many international cachers joining us as well as a lot of good caching mates. It was also very pleasing to meet some of the local Northern Beaches cachers whose hides I have enjoyed finding. The ice-breaker bingo was a huge success and I really enjoyed the Secret Santa. Thanks you to my SS for the lovely gift. It will certainly be put to good use. Well done zargfinders. You always do a great job not only with your cache hides but your events as well. A Merry Christmas to all!

11-Dec-13
What a great turn out this was! Thanks to everyone for attending and helping to make the event as great as it was.

After an attendance of 10 teams last year, the number was closer to 40 this year! (38 in the logbook)

We got to the event location at about 4:00 and pulling into the carpark we saw Calypso62 and Grahame Cookie parking too. We brought all the gear to the coordinates (I had to use my GPS, Wink) and there we saw two more people - grli and Gaztek. Grli got the FTF (congrats!) and we were glad to hear she would put it to good use and make a cache (her first) back home in Germany.

As more people started to turn up, we saw many new and old faces and team names. There were two teams from Germany (grli and KundH) and two teams from the US (Gram&Gramps and twofingersdown). Great to share stories from across the globe!

While the event was on, we were glad to see the enthusiasm in participating in the various activities we planned. The counting contest was quite funny - we had a whole range of guesses - but it was eventually Team Manahan who won (he guessed 180 gummy bears and there were 179). Great job! With the geobingo, we were glad everyone started talking and had conversations. I think most people ended up finishing. Eventually KundH were drawn out of the bag, but unfortunately they had already left, so the next person drawn was Gatherer Hade. We checked the answers and he was the winner! Awesome work.

Our team got to chat to many people throughout the night, and we had a great time. Near the end the geoboy and I accompanied Calypso62 and Tronador to NH#4 - good to see they've found it now. When we returned there only a small crowd remained - and they soon left too. After all it was quite dark.

Look forward to seeing you all again on the trail and at future events. We hope to host this event again next year - it will probably be the same Wednesday - 10/12/14.

Thanks again for attending and for all your great logs!! Big Grin We're glad you had fun.

11-Dec-13
Great event! Enjoyed the activities. Thxs Zargs.

11-Dec-13
Echo, echo to all of the comments from previous loggers. Fun evening, great location, fine weather, great company. Isn't great that we all share this fabulous hobby! Left early to take in a ballet performance by a six-year-old in a role as a kite (yes, a kite - as in Let's-Go-Fly-a ....) in Mary Poppins. A bit different than the Little Manly event. Anyway, many thanks to ZargFinders and Merry Christmas to all. Cheers... Gaztek

11-Dec-13
Always late. We got there a bit late and now we are late with our log. Nevertheless, we enjoyed this well organised event. It was great to put some faces to names we spottet in caches over the year, to meet local cachers and see some familiar faces again. And of course it was great to see our geo-heros the zargfinders, again. After being late we didn't think we would manage to get through all the games and the meet-and-greets, but we caught up, pity we missed the German honeymooners.

Now we have to log the 3 TBs we picked up. Thanks for a well planned and fun event, we really enjoyed it!

11-Dec-13
Not only do zargfinders have awesome caches but they really know how to host an event. This has got to be one of the best run events I've ever been to. There were lots of activities to participate in all with a Christmas theme. The getting to know you bingo was a huge hit with young and old alike and I loved how this got everyone moving about and chatting to EVERYONE. The guessing competition was a novel idea, as was the FTF prize for the first arrivee, and who doesn't like a secret santa. Thank you to my SS for the wonderful gift. It was so nice to see all the brightly wrapped gifts all with a geocaching theme. And the food, did I mention that, so many snacks and nibblies, to taste, again a very Christmassy feel.
Being warmly greeted, made the hour or so it took me to get here, all worthwhile, as I rushed home from work, and had to battle the coathanger and Military Rd in peak hour traffic.
The location was fantastic, and so peaceful midweek. We all saw a magical sunset as well.
You have set a high standard for future events, well done zargfinders, and may all event holders take note of how they should be done.

11-Dec-13
Another great Zargfinders, well organised, great turn out and of course great to see new and familiar faces. The cacher bingo was a lot of fun and a good way for everyone to mix. We had a few logistics issues with which members of the team would attend as other parts of the family had seemingly forgotten we were attending. Glad to see a number of ammo cans given out at the Kris Kringle. We also had a good laugh in watching a few cachers bob for the impossible astronaut without success and the kids had fun chasing the multitude of rabbits on dusk across the park. There where so many rabbits it looked a bit like telly tubby land. TFTC

Not going to be able to make it today after all Sad Will log my trackables back out ...hope you guys have a fun evening!

10-Dec-13
We are in Sydney doing lots a tourist stuff, and even finding a few caches. We are heading to Manly in the morning, will spend the day and head over to the event by 5:00. But we could not fit any chairs in our carry-on bag on the 747... If anybody is able to bring a couple of extras, that would be wonderful. Looking forward to seeing y'all. cYa, Grandma, Grandpa, Beckster

10-Dec-13
Sorry for yet another announcement - but Gram&Gramps have asked whether somebody might be able to bring along a few extra chairs for them.

Unfortunately we can't help as we don't even have chairs for ourselves! Though I doubt we'll have a chance to sit down even if we did.

10-Dec-13
Looks like someone is turning 2000 at the event!!!

10-Dec-13
Had to wait and see if everything lined up right, at this stage, highly likely. Dropping off 3 x TB.

10-Dec-13
One of my TBs is stuck in a cache: http://coord.info/GC37ZA8
My TB code is TB62ZNT (http://coord.info/TB62ZNT)
It's been sitting in that cache for far too long!
Anybody coming from Katoomba to this event? I want this TB back so I can send it off somewhere else!
So sad that my first TB has barely traveled!

10-Dec-13
Looks like I have some local work in the afternoon so I hope to be able to head down to Manly and meet everyone. Should be able to bring one or two of the geo-crew with me. (No TBs in hand at present though).

10-Dec-13
Wow, it's already tomorrow!

Just thought I'd say that if people want to bring chairs, it's BYO chair. We don't have any, but it's completely fine if others bring some.

The weather forecast for tomorrow looks good. Fingers crossed it IS mostly sunny for the entire day!

See you all soon!

10-Dec-13
Hopeful but not certain I can make it. Be there around 5:30 if I can.
If I do I'm hoping to pick up North Head #4 which I've solved for first stage and Sontaran Stratagem for which I have the launch site. Wouldn't say no to other nearby caches, mind...

Unfortunately, my schedule prohibits me from arriving in SYD in time for this event. My regards to all, and my special thanks and Aloha to the Zargfinders for organizing this event. Perhaps our paths will cross again in 2014. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to all. tv

Planning to attend after work. But will not attend if the rainy day plan is activated. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Goughy2012

Will attend. Looking forward to it. But will miss the swap in favour of a ballet recital. What the...?! Cheers... Gaztek

08-Dec-13
I'm in town for two weeks working and would like to attend this event. My schedule is day to day at this point but I'll mark a will attending and hope for the best. I'm from Nebraska, USA and would love to meet some local cachers. I'm staying by Hyde Park so this is a bit of travel for me. If anyone is coming from a similar area, let me know and we can travel together.

08-Dec-13
I'm coming. Meeting, eating and greeting sounds good to me and I'll be bringing my Christmas caching swap too. And if I'm lucky I may even be able to find North Head #4.

08-Dec-13
The event is drawing near and we're impressed with the huge gang that have signed up!

Just some last minute stuff.

Reiterating what you may want to bring (added the pen/pencil recently):

-Wrapped Christmas Caching Swap(s).
-A plate of nibblies (sweet or savoury) to share with the group.
-If you want to have a meal, BYO dinner. There are BBQs available nearby for anyone who’s keen and plenty of take-away restaurants in Manly if you want to pick up something on the way.
-Picnic blanket and/or chairs - unfortunately there are no picnic tables where we're meeting.
-Suitable clothing for the weather – this could include swimwear, as Little Manly Beach is close by. And if you haven’t found it yet, you may want to take a dip to find Doctor Who – The Impossible Astronaut!
-Your GPS or phone – so you can find us and any caches in the area that you haven’t found yet.
-A PEN/PENCIL for every member of your caching group
-Trackables for discovering and/or swapping.

Also, now's a good time to drop trackables, unless you're planning on dropping some off between now and Wednesday... (I'm dropping our trackables now)

Please note that for the Christmas Caching Swap, as long as you're at the event when we are, you can make a swap whenever, early or late. If you leave early you can swap before the official swap, and if you come late we can wait to collect our swaps and you can take one of them. Also note you only receive a swap if you leave one!! Smile

One more thing - there will be a small FTF prize for the first person to come to the event. Big Grin We'll be heading over shortly after school ends so should be there just before 4:00 (not that you need to get there that early).

Looking forward to seeing you all!!

Yelyac & I should be able to make it, but we'll be a tad late (after 6:30). What time is the gift swap?

05-Dec-13
Kid Ron Satan asked about the time of the Christmas Caching Swap. This will happen sometime between 7:00 and 7:30. However, anyone who needs to leave earlier than that can make a swap before they leave. And if we're expecting someone will arrive after the official swap, the zargfinder 4 can wait to claim their swaps.

Looking forward to seeing you all there. Fingers crossed that the weather will be fine. We'll make another announcement with any last minute information closer to the day.

We will be in Sydney on Dec 11, and would love to attend this event and meet a bunch of Oz cachers! We have it on our schedule. Maybe we'll take the ferry over and spend part of the day in Manly. Anybody have suggestions of must-do, must-see caches or attractions in Manly?

We are lookin' forward to our trip to Australia and joining everybody at this caching event!
