Nice quick find. Incongrous to see an upside down rail wagon here! Thanks, macpacfamily.#10635
My first visit to Kura Tawhiti today, on a gorgeous spring day. Stunning scenery and so peaceful. I enjoyed wandering around exploring very much. I went allllll the way in and spotted the cache on my way out! TFTC
Quick find today. Trying to get this walk done before I get wet! Thanks for the cache
#732 Interesting structure - looks to be an old wagon but would also make a great shelter with a tarp! I liked how the cache was attached so it can't go missing. Logbook is full - apologies for not carrying spares on this occasion.
Would not call that a micro cache?? But loved the old wagon?? And gets a favourite point thanks for the cache
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. After 7 weeks driving around through Australia we arrived the 2th November in New Zealand. For ten days we will cross the Northern Island and than for 2 weeks the Southern Island.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case MacPacFamily, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
After traveling around Australia with Oopie for 7 weeks, we have now been traveling with the camper in New Zealand for 4 weeks. Along the way we will of course also visit various types of caches in beautiful places, including this one. Thanks CO for creating and laying this cache.
Celle-ci est bien cachée également

A small cacher round at the castle hill inserted. Quickly found. TFTC. Greetings from Switzerland.
I really enjoyed my time here today. There were a lot of people walking around. But it wasn't too difficult to escape the crowds. A magic place. A good hide here.TFTC

Found along the way from east to the west part of South island. Beautiful countryside. TFTC
A favourite area, that weve visited many times before. This time visiting on my own for a walk before going to pick boys up from a scout camp just up the road.
Almost a hobbit sized fort and an interesting object. The cache was a quick find and all good here. TFTH
Walking around Castle hill exploring the area. Some awesome rock features to explore.
Went in too far with this one. Cache is in good condition. TFTC

T4TC, good little fort here for the kids! Great place for a walk whilst staying in Castle Hill. Out of pens so couldn’t sign the log ....
We had planned a trip to Canterbury and Otago but an issue meant we couldn't go after all so a day trip was planned to Castle Hill which had been on our wish list for some time.
It's a perfect day to be exploring this area, very few muggles about.
Our approach to this was more like a T2, simply for the distance from the car park as we were taking a different route on this visit to the area.
Hazedarus found this while I was making it a higher D level having misinterpreted the hint.
Thank you macpacfamily.

It was a perfect day for a look at the "to do-list" and a day trip followed. We were early and with just one car parked and one just leaving we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Somehow we found ourselves on the wrong side of a fence but got quickly sorted. We got down and dirty before finding the cache in an easy and accessible place. I like the container. Thank you MacPacFamily
We left Christchurch with a picnic for a fun day at Castle Hill with busy paws and Geomum007.
Our mission was to do all the caches here, which took some time as loved taking photos of interesting rocks. Of course we approached this from Green Gryke and yes it sure was challenging. Loved the Fort and it did need a cache. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache macpacfamily.

Out on a Castle Hill mission today with coconuts3 and Busy paws, the weather played ball and we had clear blue skies to complete our objective of all the caches at Castle Hill. Thanks to all the CO's for laying and maintaining the caches in this beautiful spot. TFTC!
As the others have said, we approached this giving us a challenging terrain. I kept telling myself that it's good for me to get this excercise!! it's a bit of a funny thing to just be sitting there! Found with coconuts3 and geomum007, having a good day out. TFTH
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
*We soon had another good cache located!*
Great area, nice walk, we enjoyed the visit here again.

Muggle taking photos when I arrived so detoured to three higher up caches before returning for quick find.
A great walk and explore on our way here. I went all in exploring here, while my friend found the cache quickly, Tftc!
Its is an interesting looking structure from afar. And interesting how it got here when we got closer. The Seagnoid goes in while I stay searching topside. Although inside it can be reached without getting in. Left out calling card. Cheers
Its Saturday and we explored from Lake Lyndon to Coal Pit Spur Track. So lets go!!
Its Queens Birthday weekend and The Seagnoid, Zara and I are heading out of town for a long weekend to Arthurs Pass, via Kaikoura. Had a fantastic weekend, seeing lots of new places, limestone formations, amazing views, awesome beech forest walks, but getting nowhere fast. Bloody cold at times with -3deg frosts but thankfully the snow stayed on the top of the highest mountains.. Enjoyed driving back via Lake Brunner, Murchison. An awesome few days exploring.

It's a railway wagon! A coal car. Odd, though - why is it here, and what's with the extra timbering inside? Me being the caver went in for the cache... and found being a caver was not a requisite qualification . Nice to see a decent sized fence.
Taybeedragon and I are on a five day extended Queen's Birthday weekend. Happy birthday marm! The plan was to cache the Arthur's Pass route, from Rangiora to Lake Buller. You would think four days was enough to do the 211 kilometers, but we didn't even manage the 130 to Arthur's Pass village before we had to pull the pin Monday lunchtime for the drive back to Blenheim. But on the way we saw some amazing views, strange geology, weird amounts of ice in the puddles, ice on the inside of our windscreen - it was that cold. Caves, wonderful beech forests, rather a lot of bridge barriers and even a cache or few. And there was blisters, sliding down icy grassy hills on our bums (what fun!) and rather a lot of walking. Many thanks to all the cache owners that made this such an amazing trip.

Zowaar! We did the Kura-Tawiti loop today, up to the highest lookout, and as I had not really prepared I was happily surprised to see a whole lot of caches that could be grabbed. A great opportunity, and I made the most of it!
Thank you for placing and maintaining them!

Unsere Castle Hill Tour war nur toll: was für eine Kulisse; Riesen Steine und Zwerge von Menschen, ein magischer Ort. Der 4. Fund an einem Lost place, auch kein Problem.

A quick easy find at an interesting feature as we made our way around this unique area. TFTC
Tftc! Definitely needs some attention as quite damp inside, possibly missing original seal around cap..?
Had a spare day while visiting Canterbury, so came up to Castle Hill to grab some caches - and to enjoy Castle Hill in the snow. The snow and cold meant there weren't many muggles around for once!
Another very quick find - however the log is snow/water-logged.

I was intrigued as to what this thing actually is. It kinda looks like an over turned minecart. Thanks
On a road trip south, enjoying the day and pic up some caches. TFTC

We saw that big rock formation, looking like a fort (or an elephant, depends how you use your imagination, we climbed up, down, looked around and were fooled as the previous geocachers (we only read the log when we don't find the cache...). So go back to the entry and start over, to the fort, and found the cache. All in order here!
Bluffed myself a few times trying to get down to this cache. Finally made it out of the rocks and across for a quick find at the fort. As I sit and sign the log I’m pleased to see a couple in the rocks up high everyone and then popping out to discover they too are bluffed, I’m not as hopeless as I was beginning to think.
TFTC . This is an amazing cache. Worth coming to see. It looks like a old mineshaft?
The eleventh of 17 finds today (along with 1 DNF). The three of us stayed at Dew Drop Inn opposite the Bealey Hotel on Saturday night so we could walk up to Bealey Top Hut on Saturday and explore Castle Hill Reserve on Sunday. As writing Bo&bronnie, Rincewind3, and Not Manly Jack on the logs was tedious (& a lot didn't have room) we logged as BRN. I joked that BRN stood for "feel the BuRN!"
T4 for us - we came from the Green Gryke! A bit of a poke around and we soon had the cache in hand. It was easy to see this was a cache within a cache - the log IS there, and is nice and dry.

How cool! Mr CatseyesNZ DID go too far in so I made the grab while he was belly down! Great container! Tftc
as we were looking around we had just looked at this 'fort'. Turned the phone on as we were walking away and realised we had to ge back and find this one. No need to go as far 'in' as I did tftc

This had been a day in the planning, and a day to look forward to for quite a while!! I took the day off motherhood, left the baby girl with daddy, and headed out to go find some caches - heaps & heaps of caches! - with my mum. Trying to get closer to knocking out as many of those within 80km of home as possible. Not too bad, as I think we found 51 in the end! Well, 51 for me, and a few less for mum. Plus the weather mostly held out!
Once upon a time, mum and me were here and we cleared out all but one cache... but since then, there's been so many more! That was about 4 years ago! So we made the walk again, and picked up what we could along the way! Now there's only one puzzle to come back for

A good sign of addiction - leaving the grandchild behind while going caching with your adult daughter! We finally found a day we could both get away, and we headed off into the wild to find some! Great day, even though the weather was a little suboptimal. Lots of fun, and we also got a nice walk in. TFTC!!!
Found on my way back OUT of the structure, crawling on my belly and tying not to be speared by rusty nails. Signed log for PygmyMenace, Kimothy92, Wings108, and Willbotski as PKW. TFTC!
After 5 weeks Australia I went for 8 days to NZ. In this time I drove 2100km, hiked over 100km and searched and found lots of Cache on the gorgeous South Island!
Sorry, that I publish a uniformly post, but I cant remember all of them.
Thanks to all the Owner and all my Kiwi friends for this great time. New Zealand ist the most beautiful country in the world - by far!
Cheers from Switzerland

Coming to the tail end of our two weeks on honeymoon traveling around the South Island of NZ. After spending the night at Cragieburn Shelter bunkered down with all the rain and wind about we didn't expect to see much today but fortunately the rain eased and the clouds lifted and we found a couple of excellent places to explore before leaving the mountains.
Castle Hill was the second stop and we ended up spending a few hours here because we found it so special. By the time we left the rain drizzle had stopped and we could see all the mountain peaks around us.
We walked around inside the fence before realizing the cache was outside. A quick find with the hint! Interesting little structure.

28/03/2017 - Today I managed to get an amazing (and extremely difficult) run done up Avalanche Peak in Arthurs Pass, spot of lunch, then off on a impromptu Geocache road trip on my way to Christchurch.
From a few park and grabs, the trip soon turned into something more, from Swimming across Lake Pearson for a cache, navigating through dense forest for the biggest geocache I've seen and running around the rocks of Castle Hill. What a day!
This cache was on the other side of the fence from me, difficult to tell on the approach which side it would be on. I chose wrong! Quick run round to the gate and soon had the cache in hand. This one was so perfectly hidden, I couldn't believe my rummaging yielded a cache! Thanks
