Unpacked the ladder and the cache was soon in hand.Cleaning up Victoria with gridge98. We are on a mission this week. Completing twenty finds in Mexican local government areas is the challenge. Another find with the correct criteria. It is in Victoria and we have not accumalated twenty finds in this local government area.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Woden's day the sixteenth day of the octavus month of the Roman calendar in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a bit windy today. It was so windy today. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. With the TOTT on the roof of the car we got to put it to good use here today, the cache was found once at the required height, log signed and back down we wentTravelling around Victoria with Freddo for a week finding caches as we go. With two challenges on our radar we were in full force. All logs signed with our names or F+g98 for the smaller caches. Thanks for the cache
Came to visit with hubby as we were collecting tree climbs. Discussion had that next time we come in his work ute with an extension ladder
Rebel Acts and Tiz13 had things to do in the Eastern suburbs so we caught up for a few cache grabs this morning...RA added this cache to Tiz13 list...as Tiz13 was going to have it mark her 7000 cache find..but alas she is still a few short of that milestone.
It's my second visit here, and this time, I came prepared! My trusty ladder was deployed, and within a few minutes, I was adding my name to the logbook. Thanks!Cache HealthThe containers are in excellent condition, and there is a fresh, clean log sheet to fill out. There are plenty of spots remaining.
This cache has deteriorated quite a bit so I've replaced it with a less tightly attached and hopefully waterproof redesigned cache, with a fresh log.
Tftc. Made a rock climbing tree climber very, very happy!! However, log was really wet.
Even with the cut off branches I managed to freeclimb up relatively easily and got the cache. Log is all wet but managed to scratch something in. TFTC
So after finishing the nearby event, Brain and I were off to go collect some puzzles and other odds and ends that we wanted to cross off the to do list, so what was on the agenda, Puzzlemania's, TDOC's and some Ladder climbs and other odds and ends. With the sun being out in full force and extra layers being put on, we braved the fierce UV rays and found some caches. Rather successful day all in all with all of the caches we had in mind being found, even with some little shenanigans along the way!
Out with Weidobiker, who had the right TOTT. Log book was so wet we signed initials only C and R, WB. A great place for thus type of cache find, thanks.
I am down visiting ConnieandRick for a few days and luckily brought the correct TOTT to grab this one. There was only a couple of cars driving by while we collected this one. The log was saturated and I could only put our initials and date in red pen. This will need attention to replace the sodden log. I thought this was a great spot for this type of cache.
Thanks for the placement.
Was just around the corner checking on an Archibald prize and recalled that I’ve never grabbed a T4.5 on a Monday - here’s the perfect opportunity to rectify that failing, a public holiday to deduct the passing traffic and a ladder in the back seat.
And so I was quickly up up up the tree, reaching for the final container and hoping no creepy crawlers had taken up residence.
Cache a little soggy but I managed a half-effienc scrawl - have replaced cache upside down to see if that helps it to stay dry.
TFTC and adventure.

Was here another day but didn’t have the required TOTT, but back under the cover of night made for an easy climb up. Unfortunately the o-ring has stretched and the logbook was really soaked. Was able to scribble my name on the logbook but the pen started to tear the pages. Thanks for the fun tonight and finally letting me try out my new TOTT. TFTC
Found it. The cache is very wet, with the container being full of water. I have poked a small hole in the bottom, so that water drains, but a more permanent solution is nessacary
Still on our way back to the airport but we just had to call in for this one, as we parked up we thought we would be waiting for a muggle to leave but just on cue they left and thus the coast was clear. so with no further ado the TOTT was out of the rental and setup at GZ, it only took a couple minutes for us both to sign the log.
thanks for the cache and the good DT
This was a long weekend of caching that we had planned to take toolman on with us when he had recovered from what his doctor call a 'tune-up' but due to a delay here and a setback there all he could manage was a catch up over coffee on Saturday morning, it's been a while so it was nice to just have a chat. In the end it was a Friday to Monday trip where myself and goose searched for a small amount of caches to help fill a few of our grids, it was a few days of mixed weather but we still had a good caching trip, thanks to all the COs.
Thanks for the cache.

Making our way to the airport from Cowes, our route on the map must have looked like a couple of staggering drunks. We'd picked out a very small number of caches for this quick trip to visit 1TOOLMAN and this was one that I was keen on.
We spotted the cache from the car and once the coast was clear we were out and deployed the TOTT up to the cache. As per the bold print on the cache page, we both had our turn to getting to GZ and took pics for the fun of it.
Thanks for a nice DT gmj3191

Called by this morning and replaced the inner cache.
Thanks to Lynjoh for alerting me to the problem

We needed to be in East Brighton today for a school pickup of our grandkids and took a ‘slight’ detour to this cache. At GZ we had a quick look to determine the cache location. Then out with the TOTT and a quick retrieval. But the tube was uncapped and full of a brown liquid and a very wet log. Signed a new blank sheet and left in a ziploc bag. Thanks to gmj3191 for the cache.
About a month ago I got a new telescopic ladder off gum tree. After that day I haven’t really had an opportunity to use it until now.
After work today, dahliyani and I joined forces to grab some high up caches, starting with this one. Dahliyani held the TOTT while I climbed up to the prize.
Great fun

We found the cache climbed the tree a little bit but couldn’t get to it because it was to dangerous
It’s hard and we didn’t manage to log (as we forgot the pen) but we still did find it. Remy
Thank you gmj3191 for the challenge. I had scoped the cache before so I knew exactly what was involved. It's the closest unfound cache to home, so it was definitely on the list to find, oh but how. I often cache by myself, but no way was I going to attempt this without a friend. I decided, for me, the best way to get this cache was a) a weekend to avoid suspicion, b) a TOTT, and c) a friend. Today was the day they all collided and the hunt was on. Up I went, scared of heights but determined. I got it! I signed it! I was shaking like a leaf while said friend was giving moral support (and a bit of TOTT stabilisation support). My friend didn't understand the exhilaration but oh well, can't have everything, but gmj3191, this cache made my weekend If I could give it more than one fav I would. Thanks again!
regrowth has becoming a geocaching nemesis
bushfires clear out the forest like a juice cleanse
ridding the woods of its wood
ridding the bush of its bushes
and devoid of shrubbery and bracken and blackberries and fallen rotting debris, passage through the smoking forest is gloriously unimpeded
but
then the regrowth sets up shop
the undead trees blossom
ferns re-emerge
saplings shoot up like bamboo, blocking the way like a woven screen
any attempt through the undergrowth regrowth is met with a faceful and bodyful of fresh gangly grasping vegetation
minutes turn to hours, shirts turn to shreds
but perhaps we were too quick to judge
as here the regrowth saved the day
new shoots emerging from the graveyard provided a veritable ladder to the heavens
so thanks be to regrowth

Amazing cache! Was a little bit sketched at first about the climb but once I started it was much easier than I thought. TFTC!
Wicked tree climb. Took me a while but I finally got up there. Great hide. Thanks for the cache.
Pretty proud of myself. Not bad for a 50-something. Managed the climb and signed the log. TFTC
I thought the log might have dried out after yesterday's 37 degrees, but the zip lock bag was keeping the wetness sealed in. Not sure how it got wet in the first place, as the bag was doing a great job of sealing the logbook, but I replaced the bag and log with a new log sealed in a pre-form tube, so that should solve that problem nicely.
Accompanied with Lance51 and 2DeafOrangutans, 2DeafOrangutans bring his TOTT, The Log paper was so wet. I was there in years ago, this time I dont have any TOTT with me. Arranged to meet so we all signed it.
Thanks gmj3191 for the cache.

This has been sitting on my map just 2.5km away, with a stupid blue frowny-face for the past 18mths. Back then we were absolute noobies of 3mths experience (what's a D/T rating etc?) & had no way of reaching this hide.
Fast forward to our current situation of owning a more appropriate vehicle (4WD SUV) & armed with the necessary TOTT & experience, we targeted this cache for our reintroduction to the best pastime in the world. Our longest slump of 118 days with no finds has finally been broken. Welcome back.
Feedback: During the lockdown a nest of ants has made themselves a home in the hide. Unfortunately I didn't have any bug spray so be careful of the little black ants in the cache!
Thanks gmj3191 for another fun & challenging hide. Fav point coming your way for stretching us on our geo journey!!

As we can now wander up to 25km, and can have up to 2 hours of recreational activity, I'll re-enable my caches.
Melbourne is currently in a Stay At Home situation.

After a record slump of 70 'free of a find' iso-days, it was invigorating and somewhat a reawakening day out in the great company and support of the Suscoe duo, who had the TOTT on board. The cache was soon in hand and our names in the log.
**FEEDBACK TO CO:-** Securing devices may need attention in near future.
Our thanks to 'gmj3191' for adding this cache to the geo-gameboard.

Suscoe headed to Melbourne today in the terrific company of Phetlern.
We followed each other in our own vehicles all day long.
It was a much better day than the Weather Bureau had predicted with a good bit of sun , some clouds and a few spits of rain late in the day.
Thanks to gmj3191 for this interesting hide.
Luckily on this visit we had the tool on board which was required.
1 up, three down and the cache was opened and the log signed.
We had visited the cemetery for a Premier just before tackling this cache.

Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis.
Although exercise is ok, beaches, parks etc are gradually being closed, and we are being asked to stay home.
The possibility to transmit the virus by surface contact exists, so why take chances?
At the end of the day, geocaching is a game, and we are dealing with a serious Public Health issue.
We need to get our priorities in order.
I believe the responsible thing is to disable all my caches, until the crisis passes.
Thanks.

A quick climb on an afternoon out in Melbourne. Had a hit list of caches and this was one. thanks for the mid week adventure
Out with geo kid 2 and 3 on this beautiful Melbourne day in the last remaining days before school starts again.
Today I brought my best tree climber geo kid 2 with me to conquer this one. It took teamwork by all of us. My little tree ninja showed very little fear negotiating the tricky foot and hand holds, encouraged by geo kid 3 from below. Geo kid 3 was itching to go up but he was too little and short to reach unfortunately. The logbook retrieved and signed. Putting the lid back on proved tricky and the container was dislodged from its straps. Luckily we managed to re-tighten the straps to leave the cache secured as found.
Cache and log in good condition.
Thank you for the cache and challenge here gmj3191

Fortunately for the confident tree climber this would be an easy log. Unfortunately for me I am not confident at climbing trees, or any variety of perpendicular form. Thanks to Muzza for offering to meet me here with his telescopic ladder. Another DNF crossed off my list and joyfully replaced with a golden smiley. TFTC gmj3191
Got to the first branch easily, but footwear was not right for the second step, so chose the safe option of leaving the cache for now. Thanks anyway for the exercise!
While in the area for sport, we thought we would collect some caches in the area. We focused mostly on puzzles and a few needed for challenges, but did grab a few near ones too.
Last cache of the day and I had packed my ladder just in case for this geocache. I knew on a Sunday might be best for this one. At GZ, the cache was quickly spotted. I quickly determined that I could monkey climb it, but my clothes were not really suited for it. So while my wife held the ladder and played distraction with the few cars, I was able to get and sign the cache.
Thanks for the cache gmj 3191

Stood in the No Standing zone and then scaled the tree.
The lid latches are deteriorating and probably won’t last much longer.
The cache itself is slowly being consumed by the tree as the bands are getting tighter and the top of the cache is digging into the bark.
Otherwise, all is good.
Log signed and photos taken.

This has been on our To Do List for awhile, so being in the area today, and with our TOTT packed in the car, we were going for it. Well Steve was, my job was to supply the pen.
Although probably not the ideal time to try, we only had to wait out a couple of muggles sitting in their cars across the road. Once clear, up he went, signed the log and was down in a jiffy. Just one passer driver giving us a glance as we were packing up the TOTT.
Thanks gmj3191. Nice to have a smilie for this one.

I was in the area today so I thought I’d give this one a looksy. Arrived at GZ and spotted the cache straight away. Made very short work of the climb. Lots of hand holds! Definitely not a T4.5 but I’ll take it.
Thanks for the hide.
Thanks for the hide.
I can see it, but can't reach it, so therefore can't sign the log. Geowife doesn't seem keen to climb tree, either. Will deem it a DNF til I bring the climbing tool. Thanks to gmj3191 for this cache.
We had checked the T-rating & previous logs (i.e. me & geo-hubby CachesHigh), so knew there was tree climbing involved. Thought we'd drive by anyway just to check out location. Well, that brought up the "I need to buy a ladder" conversation. That's all fine & good but a) we have a small, 2 door sports car, so no means of transporting it about, & b) I've heard reports that most injuries around the house are home-handymen falling from ladders. Anyway, I'm logging this as a DNF, because although we can see the cache, we have no means of signing it (yet), so will put this on the 'try later' list. Thanks gmj3191.
Well this has taught me a lesson to read descriptions before heading out. Will have to come back again with a ladder
Brought the right extraction tool and signed the log (relatively) easy. Been in my radar for a few months. Glad to knock it off. A little hairy up there.
Today I visited a some selected and targeted caches as i travelled east and south of Melbourne down the Mornington Peninsula. It was a productive day with a nice selection of puzzle, traditional, letterbox, wherigo and multi caches.
I had a good laugh at this cache, which was on my (rather over-ambitious) target list.
I spotted the container immediately and knew what I would need to do. However, there was a man parked across the road having his lunch while doing some paperwork in his car and two workman doing something on the opposite side of the road 50 metres away. Fortunately there wasn’t too much passing traffic.
I put on my green safety vest, grabbed the telescopic ladder from the car, strode over the road and erected and climbed the ladder with great confidence and authority, signed the logbook, then put everything back away again, the whole time keeping an eye on the muggles. The funny thing was though, that I never saw them even glance at me once!
All in all it was a good bit of fun, and all over in just a few minutes.
Thanks gmj3191 for the cache.

My partner always complains that his mother calls him at the worst times. Well
..SHE'S not the one who called me when I was halfway up a tall tree!!
After scoping out the terrain last week, I returned with a tool. Damn heavy thing. But it definitely made the first bit a little easier. I got to the top with nothing more to be concerned about than a couple of slow moving cars below me.
Yay. Now to sign. I had linked my pen to my belt stap upon leaving the car...but it was no longer there. Eek! Luckily a kind person had left a pen in the cache so I was saved. Then, a phonecall later, I ensured the cache was properly closed and made my way down. I always find down a little harder than up, but managed it with just a few scrapes.
This was awesome fun. I'm quite sure I'll never get a T5, but I'm delighted with a T4.5

Then, a phonecall later, I ensured the cache was properly closed and made my way down. I always find down a little harder than up, but managed it with just a few scrapes.
This was awesome fun. I'm quite sure I'll never get a T5, but I'm delighted with a T4.5
I'm going to count it as done but there no way I'm going up there without a ladder. If I could reach it from the lower branch I may have had a go
We took a nice stroll from the park over to the cache, and were impressed with the whole set up.
Geodad is usually the one to go up, and today was no exception. Geomum gave him a tiny push up, and then he did an excellent job at getting to it, and signing the book.
This was super fun for all of us!
Thank you gmj3191!
Fav point for this.

We were intrigued with this one. As we approached GZ, we easily spotted the decent sized cache. Chiefton Snr was optimistic and so up he went. The descent looked as tricky as the ascent. All good in the end. TFTC gmj3191.

Bit of a climb for me. But I got it.
Out with GeoSon who watched me below.
Old boy can still climb.

I don’t own a ladder so I thought I’d drive by and take a peek. Very impressed. Will return when humans learn to fly.
Walking around the area on a delightful day, the geogirlfriend, geodogs and I decided to check this spot out. A few muggles around, but they possibly weren't looking at me. Not for the faint hearted. Thanks for the cache!
Righto! Sent the monkey up the tree to complete the log and back down safely. Nice one!
Found it but to hard to reach today. I’ll have to come back another day for the log book
Knowing that ahomburg would be in the area for the CITO, his interest in higher terrain caches and his amenablity to caching in a group post-event I drew his attention to a couple of tree climbs in the area. They were on his bucket list so a plan was hatched for me to bring the telescoping ladder and he do the climbing
After the CITO a number of other teams were informed of our plans and decided to come along for the fun. Lukie1987 and I arrived first, noting the lack of legal car parking on either side of the road (perhaps the CO ought to place a parking waypoint or make that clear in the cache description) we compounded the problem by simply mounting the kerb by GZ. As teams dribbled in I set up the ladder.
Duties completed it was onto the next climb of the area. I felt quite satisfied in turning this trad into a smiley. It goes well with the rest of the smiley faces in the area.

Spent some time after the C.I.T.O. caching with ADI, LOTW, Jascat, nagrin, L87 and stemic. We started with a couple this side of town before heading to an event in Laverton, followed by a whole stack of random caches in the area and beyond.
Luckily somebody brought the correct apparatus to let us gain access to the cache. Climbing duties complete, off we went again.
Many thanks to gmj3191 for the cache. TNLN.

Well, this one was a bit of a challenge. We saw the picture prior coming and thought, it didn't look too bad. At GW the issue was first getting up the first bit of the tree. After a couple of attempts, the hard bit was done and the following sections were easy. Luckily the removal of a couple of branches had left enough for a foothold. Nice container, and signed and "slowly" came back down. Down is always harder!
Today was a long day of caching in and around Black Rock and Beaumaris. We still needed about 70 caches to complete our hidden creatures series before time runs out. Fantastic area that we have never really explored before.

First team arboreal assault after a big CITO event, moving large quantities of mulch to make Karkarook Park that much nicer.
It seems that quite a few of us had come to the same idea regarding packing equipment to tackle this cache, so quick work was made of getting our names on the log here before we headed off to a notorious similar hide along a canal.
Thanks, gmj3191, for the nudge out of the comfort zone, and the 70th d/t combination filled.

Caching buddies: leafotwind, ahomburg, nirgalagrin and lukey1987
Qaepag, well kinda! The cache was spotted and found with the help of a ladder. Tallest one reached up and sent the logbook down for us

After this mornings Cito a group of us headed off to find a few caches. This one had been on my radar for quite some time. It was great to finally get a smiley.
Thanks to gmj3191 for placing this cache

As a result of winning a double pass in a competition yesterday Rex and I had driven to Melbourne and arrived just in time to meet a former work colleague at the Regent Theatre in order to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert
When the fantastic show had finished, I dropped Amy off at her car and then decided it was time to get tea (after midnight, mind you ) and also my first cache find of the trip! [^]
While I found zero, nada, zilch caches on the trip down on the 4th May (obviously the force was NOT with me ) I did find 18 caches today though and only had 1 DNF with 1 I'm not doing that on my own look at a cache! [xx(]
Rex enjoyed his first ever visit to a beach at the off lead beach at Mentone and while he didn't get deep enough to swim he did have a blast running into and out of the water and fetching the ball [^]
So this was the cache where I said 'I'm not doing that on my own!' My ladder and I sure aren't stable enough to do this without a safety person with me!

Well.. luckily I have a tall muggle who was precariously balanced in pitch black filling in a log by phone torch. Cheeky hide. SL TNLN TFTC!
Although it was a short week, due to the public holiday on Monday, it still feels like an age since I was out and about on the bike.
When I woke up this morning I saw the blue sky and knew I had to get out so I loaded up the bike onto the rack and headed out to the Sandringham area. It seems that I am restricted as to where I go due to all the concurrent roadworks at present.
I thought that I would have at this cache to see whether I would have to return with a TOTT however I was convinced that I could make it without it. I had to use the bike to give me a boost then I managed to make my way up. It looks like one of the branches may have been trimmed however it is still manageable.
Luckily today it was the road less travelled so I didn't stick out. TNLN> TFTC.

In the car for the next job, looking for Geocaches there was one 14m from me. Simple to find, not game enough to retrieve.
