This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 13155.I wanted to get in and find this one before it was archived. I reached out to some previous finders and soon had what I needed to make an attempt. After work I headed out on this special cache and it wasnt long before I found myself at GZ. Now as it turns out, Big Matt was too big to squeeze past but I could drop in with the fading light and increasing mozzies. I soon was writing my name and then it was back out. Thanks cccritter for the cache. What a truely cool cache location.

On our Christmas 2023 holidays, and this is Day number 4, and we are still in Newcastle. Usual holiday traditions continue with Huntress off on a long run, 999HK sleeping, and I'm off geocaching. I am targeting a few interesting geocaches. Specifically, a cave, waterfall, and tree climb geocache. This was one of them, obviously. After reading this cache page and the logs, I was really interested in visiting it as it sounded cool. Also, it sounds like it will be archived soon. Contacted a previous finder to grab the final coordinates. This morning, this was the first cache on the list. It's an absolutely perfect location, and the final container is still in good condition. This cache should be maintained, but if the owner is no longer geocaching, it should be archived. Then a new cache can be installed here, hopefully a big ammo can, and I would have given it a favourite point. Thanks for the cache, cccritter.Hunter

Hi cccritter,The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 4 weeks) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.If you require more time please be sure to **post a note** (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require. For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the listing and post a new note every 4 weeks to keep everyone up to date, if you do not then you cache may be archived without further note from a reviewer. Caches archived due to lack of maintenance are no longer unarchived and you will need to submit a replacement as a new cache.Ngaambul - Matt

WP1 is long gone. Been there before and didnt find and notified by previous finders is missing. As L612 said the final is great and would be great for another cache. Needs urgent maintenance or unfortunately archived.

16-Oct-23
WP1 has been missing for 4 years, Needs Maintenance since 2019.Every finder since then has needed to contact a previous finder for helpGZ is an awesome location, so would be great to see a cache here that is actually solvable to bring more people to this spot!

**This Cache:**I attempted this cache on my last visit to Newcastle, as I found a few other caches in this reserve nearby. Unfortunately I learnt that WP1 was missing, and has been missing for MORE THAN 4 YEARS! [:o] How disappointing! As everybody else has done in the past four years, we got help from a previous finder in order to find the final cache placement. I can't comment on WP1 as I haven't seen it, but I can say this cache is incredible just for GZ alone! What a top spot! I honestly have no clue how you found this location though, you could walk within 10 metres of it and not notice! But what an awesome spot it is!I think this location is worthy of a cache that is actually findable without having to contact a previous finder, so hopefully that can be arranged in the future Big GrinTFTC cccritter7 for bringing us here ---**Today:**Visiting Newcastle this weekend to tackle a wide variety of physically challenging and creatively crafted Team737 hides! Big Grin Huge thanks Team737 for inviting myself and GHHH and showing us the "ropes", quite literally, of Technical Tree Climbing and Abseiling! One of the best caching weekends I have had and will always be a highlight memory! The expertise and gear you guys have is just incredible and I was so honoured to learn these new skills from you! Appreciate your kindness, patience and company during this adventure packed weekend! Until next time..!

WP1 we tried but was missing so we got coords off of a previous finder and went to go find it today with friends Loci612 and Samuel. A tight squeeze and had to half chimney climb to get out. TFTC

Muggle65 and l reached out for help for this one. Such a fun location!

After ready a few previous logs we reached out to a previous finder Re Waypoint One, received the information and so we were away. Working out our GZ coords had us finally at the GZ and I know I was surprised at how small the cave is (I was expecting something a little bigger from pics).
Nevertheless jumped in & retrieved the log & signed it

I originally tried this one in 2019 and waypoint 1 was missing. It sounds like it still is. I got GZ from a previous finder and I’m glad I did.

I was down in Newcastle overnight and this is the main one I wanted to find. Made it to GZ and I was thinking this doesn’t make sense, then I looked closer and it became clear what I needed to do. I spotted the cache before I went in and quickly signed the log.

I would have given this a favourite point if the CO had done maintenance to replace the waypoint.

Was up in the area today doing some crate digging at the annual Hunter Record Fair this morning while all the rain dumped down. I finally bit the bullet today and bought the 50 years anniversary edition of *Sgt Peppers* (2017 release, mixed by Giles Martin - listening to it right now as I log - a little disappointed with the mix however the record sounds incredible!)... but I digress! I was finished digging by the time the sun came out which was perfect for an afternoon of caching. Can the day get any better?

I'd been out this way, perhaps after last year's record fair in fact, looking for WP1 *apparently* just a couple of months after a previous finder but surprisingly got nowhere there. Anyway by the time I'd gotten home, Banj5150 who is a caching buddy of mine had sent me a message after my DNF post and mentioned he was going to perform some community maintenance at WP1 as he likes this cache, just that he hadn't made it out yet. Out today to finish this and to finally "enjoy" this very unique GZ lol. TFTC, cccritter7 but special thanks to Banj for the assistance/ helping to keep it going. I'd give this a FP but that should go to Banj lol.

This was the main cache, Mighty Minions wanted company for, and i was glad i obliged. I had walked this trail earlier this morning, trying to get to other caches, in the bottom of Jesmond Bush, but the new road works put a stop to that. So once we had done Ping Pong, I suggested we take the Lux, so we did not have to carry her ladder too far, when we did Koala. So we parked not that far from GZ, that MM had aquired, and we were soon there. Both laughing about how a tight squeeze it would be, and talking about lack of fear, MM has gone for it, and in she goes. What a champion, cause i would have got stuck like Winnie the Pooh in a honey pot. Soon had cache in hand, signed the log and replaced. TFTC. Hopefully the new road works do not impact this cache.

GeoIan and I both had the day of work so decided to grab some caches in the area that I didn’t want to do on my own . I really didn’t want to do this one on my own so was glad for the company. Knowing that waypoint 1 was missing I reached out to a previous finder who helped me out with GZ . GeoIan did a great job navigating close to GZ and I was glad to have brought a torch . It was a bit of a tight squeeze but the cache was found quickly. Thanks for the cache tnln replaced as found sl

Oh boy, another DNF for today. That makes three! I couldn't find anything at WP1 after a good search but gave up as it had gotten too dark anyway. Now that I'm home, reading the previous logs, it seems that it likely isn't there though? I noticed last night on recce that there have been recent finds so I didn't think twice about there being any dramas but the logs prior to the finds suggest there could be a problem. Could the CO please verify this somehow in the logs in the form of a maintenance check, or a write note response to the cable ties note log? Cheers.

Found on a nice summer's day , a little on the warm side with temperatures in the high 30s. With Banj Ward, Shaneo58 and Beary_Unicorn. After an early start we made our way here, and found a gardian looking after the cache, but after some movement from us above decided to retreat somewhat and allowed us near the cache. Log signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks For The Cache cccritter

I had been here previously, but could not find the WP1 information. Talking to a previous finder, I was given the GZ co ordinates, so after finding another nearby cache, I wandered over here to check this one out, and ended up climbing down to find the cache. TFTC.
PS, when I am next in the area, I will replace GZ co ordinates at WP1

WP1 may be missing, cable ties on the ground.

20-Aug-19
This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

20-Aug-19
Arrived at WP1 and found cable ties on the ground next to a tree. Hunted around to see if there anything I could find that gives me the final coordinates. No luck here today.

23-Sep-18
This is our second DNF on this cache - last time we came here there were mozzies everywhere so we didn't look very well - but returning today we still couldn't find anything except a bird nesting box.

Nice bike ride/walk! One of the greatest caches I have ever found! Pen didn’t work and log a bit damp.
Favourite point from me!

Tb drop whilst coming along for the ride with the_garbageman and a posse of three kids today. I was glad to be able to just watch the intrepid mini-cachers go in for the find today....

Adventure Monday with my girls today and after a big day for Daddy in the car yesterday doing over 1000km we decided something close by was a better option.

I'd heard about the tight squeeze at the end and thought some 'skinny power' might help (and after a failed attempt in the past where I somehow misread the numbers at WP1 and ended up on the completely wrong side of the bush crawling into random holes) I invited Lee737 along for the walk to help correct any of my errors and he brought his youngest along too. With 3 geokids (3,4,5) you'd think a T4 would be a mission but this one is pretty simple up and down the hill past the other nearby caches along the pipe trail.

A second visit to WP1 and again found some numbers. Lee assured me my numbers now matched his. I think my previous error was misreading one digit as another. I'm not sure how I did that as they seemed quite clear today. Weird.

A short walk and we were at GZ. I'm a large unit and it's unlikely I would have fit, short of lying on my side at the base of the entrance and shimmying in. Was tempted, but my 5 year old grabbed my phone as a torch and charged in without a second thought! Three year old charged in after her with Lee's lad with a head torch and all three made a quick find. What champs!

Thanks to Lee for the assist - at the very least it was great to catch up for a walk and a chat, and to enjoy watching the kids share adventures together.

Glad to cross this one off the list. My nearest unfound multi is now 52km away as the crow flies and more than an hour via car! Hopefully no multi based challenges happen any time soon.

Thanks to the CO for a fun little adventure. Cache and log are in good condition. Bring your own own though, as the one in the cache no longer works. TNLN TFTC

Had to battle the mozzies+++ to find this one! Loved the device at wp1, sorted quickly and had the cache in hand before long. TFTC

13-Aug-16
2nd attempt and found the device at WP1 almost immediately.
Lead straight to cache. A very tight squeeze! My first multi-cache done!
Amazing hide. TFTC.
Unfortunately pen wasn't working so couldn't sign log.

24-Jun-16
Finally came back to get this one, the coordinates on WP1, are clearly marked as last time I was unable to make out the markings, WP2 was awesome, tight squeeze but great location.

13-Jun-16
Enjoyed the view from WP1 and also the device to get the co-ordinates. We sensibly decided to go back and take the track to get close to GZ before a short walk through bush to where the cache was hiding. A great spot and a fun challenge. Took a turtle TB. Swapped perfume for a lanyard. One of the best we've done. TFTC.

28-May-16
We weren't sure where to go for the best place to access WP1. Fairly confident we could get a park at the bottom we started walking from there. WP1 was an impressive location in itself and a quick scout around soon uncovered the clever method to get the final. We set off on a familiar route from other bush wanderings until we needed to take to the scrub again. Arriving at GZ was the ideal cache hide. How did you ever find this?! Quite sure MrG could have accessed the cache with some contortions but MrsG not being the curvy robust type, could almost enter with arms swinging.....though over time, if that tree decides to burst into growth things could get tight. A fantastic cache, thanks cccritter. Took Grandmas's Blue Mat TB, left Turtle on Tour TB.

21-May-16
No luck finding WP1 today. Was definitely in the right area and searched for quite a while before moving on. Might need some directions for owner before going back for another attempt.

27-Mar-16
This one has been on our radar for ages... the description turned me off a bit to be honest! Yesterday I did a reconnaissance trip around Jesmond checking all our non-finds (higher terrain), to see which ones I could bring the kids to.
WP1 was found easily, and what a nice spot - I took in the view and got the coords for GZ, the coords are getting a bit difficult to read, might need a little maintenance.
Once at GZ, the reason for all the fuss was evident, the cache was visible with my high intensity torch. I figured I could get to it, I knew my 6yo could, but would he??
Today we returned, visited WP1 again for Samuel to check out, then got to GZ. Messaged my wife letting her know we were 'going in!' amd set to it. I'm glad my latest burst of hiking/caching has stripped 6kg off of me! The cache was soon in hand, and log signed. We left an LED torch keyring for the next explorer, and took the (very patient) geocoin.

Thanks for a great adventure, right on our doorstep.....

27-Mar-16
TFTC lucky I was small so I could fit in.

The number at the checkpoint might be a little hard to read hence I took long than usual to locate the GZ.

This cache was definitely a favourite for us. Just one of the many great caches we found here today. We enjoyed the contraption a WP1 and loved the location of the final cache. There were so many moths in there! TFTC.

29-Oct-14
What a cool Gz for the cache! I never knew this existed and was glad to find it with Mr & Mrs Mayers!!!! Fun walk through the bush! TFTC Smile not to many spiders at Gz but the mozzies were in fine form Wink

29-Oct-14
TFTC!! Luckily Mr Mayers could fit through the tight gap to grab the cache. Luckily there were no spiders today but there were lots of mozzies. What an amazing place! How did you find it?! Loved it. Thanks so much for bringing us out here! =)

13-Sep-14
Claustrophobia eat your heart out! Nice puzzle and there was so many spiders!!!

08-Aug-14
Found - went terribly off course after easily finding the initial clue. I had the correct coordinates but GPSr took me down into the ferns which was a disaster. Finally found. Thanks cccritter . I liked the initial puzzle.

08-Feb-14
Found with the aid of DJ.
This is a beautiful area! !
And I loved thr final location Smile

Ps, nabbed the travel bug/ fountain Smile

I headed out to this one with Spikey Mikey. We got the co ords after a couple of wrong turns and unnecessary climbing. Very nice WP1. After that had no trouble finding GZ. Getting into GZ, however. A few twists and turns and I was holding the cache. I passed the cache up to Mike to sign the log (he refused to come in with me Smile ), and while i was waiting found a huge gecko. Once finished I struggled my way out and we were off. Great cache. Thanks

10-Jan-14
An interesting cache with TheMonks in tow. We made our way to WP1 and wandered around and climbed unnecessarily until we stumbled upon the cache. The co-ords were soon retrieved and we were off to GZ. A short walk and the entrance to the grotto was discovered. TheMonks volunteered to enter the dungeon, after I made an effort and couldn't get past the guardian. Note to self: drink less beer!!
Anyway, Benny did the deed and log was signed and we were off. Glad to get out of there as the mozzies were ferocious. Took TB truck. TNLNSL TFTC

21-Dec-13
Found with Tombi.

21-Dec-13
Called up Orrsome86 to do this one with me as it recommended teamwork and backup for high terrain is a good idea.
We parked on Roberts circuit and walked to WP1. GPSr a little slow but found it. Very nice!
Tried going straight to WP2 but was too overgrown and didn't see any good paths, so went long way around.
I was looking to high, when Orrsome found the cache.
He didn't want to go first, which was fine by me!
Signed log, took trackable. Then Orrsome replaced, since he knew the coast was clear!
Still not sure where the teamwork was needed, but always more fun with someone else.
Thanks for the short, but fun caving experience!

08-Dec-13
After my previous misfortune, CO took pity on me and volunteered to meet me at GZ. Being the perfect size for this retrieval, he was in and out of there in a flash, which was great because the mozzies were getting fierce (here's me worrying about mozzies while he's in the snake-infested, spider-webbed batcave!) TFTC cccritter7!!

07-Dec-13
I managed to convince Mrs Grub Fred to come back out to GZ and climb into the abyss (she wasn't all that impressed!). She passed the cache out to me and I wanted to quickly sign and get her out of there as the mozzies were fierce!

I was extremely disappointed and confused when the log container had a combination lock and a note saying the key was at WP1, I have no recollection of any key at WP1 and re-reading the cache listing there is no mention of this requirement.

My beloved says she won't go there again so I am thwarted once again.

In my opinion there should have been some indication of the "key" requirement in the cache listing, unless I have missed something but some other cachers I have spoken to were also unaware.

P.S. The coordinate plate appears to have come unstuck from its carrier.

07-Dec-13
Key & lock has been removed.

TB dropped

WP1 fixed.

06-Dec-13
Being in the area I decided to knock over WP1 and suss out the final GZ to see what all the fuss was about, I soon found out!

I did manage to get my 12 pack stomach through but my powerful, muscled chest (actually pigeon chest) just wasn't playing the game!

I need to find some skinny little kid with no claustrophobia, no fear of snakes or spiders or the dark! Maybe Mrs Grub Fred if I bribed her enough?

19-Oct-13
Today we headed into Jesmond bush to grab the remaining ones we needed, along with a couple Chippyroo needed.

This was a fun cache with a great GZ. After finding WP1 and having some fun extracting it. I gather all of the info I needed. We ade our way to GZ after grabbing some caches along the way. Once at GZ I made my way down and around to the cave, after a quick suck in and a step to the right, I squeezed past the tree and made my way into the cave. the cache was found, unlocked, signed and replaced. Great cache TFTC. Fav for me

04-Oct-13
As I had the day off from work I decided that I should get out and grab a cache. I had already started the nearby puzzle cache but this one had me interested so I decided to go for this one instead. Just ask my muggle wife - I never finish anything I start.

I looked at the cache description and attributes and took a torch not knowing why???? Also decided to take the geoson to give the muggle wife a rest. On approach to the hospital I decided to do a Chippyroo who from what I read tries to drive up to the foot of every cache. I knew a few tracks around the area and thought I had a chance. Low and behold, I only just started offroad when I found Chippyroo driving back out. Chippyroo seemed unusually happy to see me and all I could faintly hear over the hum of the car motor was 'youll fit'.

After a quick exchange I found out that they had found WP1 but were not able to reach GZ. They seemed to think I had the attributes that could reach GZ. A quick trip in our cars and a short walk revealed to me what they were on about. Wow. CCcritter you did well to find one of these here. How did you find it????

Now knowing why a torch was required, I squeezed past the obstacle that had Chippyroo literally stuck and retrieved the cache. After a little banter, threatening chippyroo that Ill sign the log and not include his name, I emerged from the hide and we both signed the log and returned it back.

Chippyroo now having the 4x4 grid filled out were eager to get the relevant cache out near the freeway. My geoson and I, not happy to have found GZ without completing the whole cache decided to head to WP1. Even though the drive to WP1 was easy, finding WP1 was not. After scrambling up and down a cliff I was about to give up when I spotted the WP. Quick fiddle and I had it solved. Now I can say I completed the whole multi.

Great cache Chris. Goodness knows how you found GZ hidey hole. Gets a favourite point from me as this was unusual. TFTC.

##3309

After finding a couple of caches in Sydney during the week to try and complete our 4x4 grid for a local challenge cache, this was the last one on the list for us to fill the grid. Mr C had already driven around in here before so knew where to go to get the Geolux as close to GZ as possible. We parked the car and then followed the GPS to WP1, quickly arriving and working out the clue. We went back to the car and drove around to the final GZ.
Mr C walked into the bush and came across a likely place for the cache from the description but to double check he called the CO and he gave "that's the spot". Mr C tried to gain access but was unable to enter. Bugger, will have to leave it for another day and bring someone more suited. Just as we were driving out of the bush, dejected, a familiar car came down the track, it was danwashere. After a quick conversation, Mr C said "you'll fit", and we proceeded back down to GZ. We showed Dan GZ, and he was off in a flash and grabbed the container. He did try and say "you can't reach, you can't sign" but then he forgot to bring a pen. We both signed the log and returned back to the car. After a short discussion, we left Dan to go get the challenge cache while he went back to WP1.
Thanks cccritter7 for the adventure

This was a very cool cache. We went to WP1, a very cool container, then went on to GZ, what a cool cache location, but make sure you take care!

Our three man team set off in the morning, with Sandwichhman,
Cccritter7 and I keen for a 43km ride full of caches.After
heading from Lambton through the Uni, we came out at Warabrook,
picking up caches along the way. However, trouble started
when Cccritter7's chain snapped. This put an end to our great
plan of heading up to Ash Island, then Kooragang, Stockton,
Newcastle, then back home. This was unfortunate, and we
slowly made our way back to Ccritter7's. We then managed
to get another bike, and headed through Jeso Bush to find
a few more. We then stopped off at Hungry Jack's to refuel
on our way to Maryland. We took a break at Sandwichhman's,
refuelling, then Cccritter 7 and I headed off to find some
of the Maryland caches. We then headed back to Wallsend,
picking up a few multi's, then heading slowly up McCaffrey
Drive. We split ways, and our 35km bike ride/GeoCaching
adventure had finished.

Thanks for the cache Cccritter7.

Reperio at 2155. *FTF*

I had just jumped into bed to get an early night when the alert came through of a new cache published 600m away. Well that put an end to that idea. Headed out and soon arrived at WP1 where it took a good 10 minutes to find what I needed to find in the dark. Once it was found, the numbers were quickly gathered...and it was on to GZ. As I neared the spot...I was looking for something else entirely...and couldn't see what was a little further on ahead in the dark until I almost walked right over it. It soon became apparent where the cache was...and after some careful maneuvering...the cache was in hand. A nice little container at WP1...and a cool little hiding spot at GZ.

Gratias cccritter7.
