Our first DNF for the day. Not that we spent too long looking, after the previous 4 DNFs logged, no activity in 9 months, and the GPS putting us in the middle of the car park so we went even sure where to be looking! Oh well, maybe next time.

27-Mar-17
Was just a YUK area, poked around with a stick, but nothing.

14-Feb-17
Very overgrown and being used as a garden rubbish dump ruining the area. To the lady who wrote about the horse, I had to stop as we saw you before you saw us and my horse was a little spooked not being used to anyone in those bushes. Please be assured I didn't give you any thought and we were only on the top of the dunes as I was watching a friend's boat sailing past Smile

Don't know where this one would be

Will have come back for this one. Car park was deserted so got out and started having a scrounge around in the likely area - there was a lot of rubbish here! Anyway, wasn't having any luck so stepped back out into the car park to get my bearings and standing there watching me is a woman and her horse! I say a friendly hello, a quicky reply from her but she and the horse don't move, so I sort of skulk away over to my car, look at my phone, the usual stuff. Who knows what she thought I was doing, anyway, she and her horse then slowly walked towards the bush and then stood on the dunes for ages. Decided in the end I'd come back another day. Thanks JABS, I shall return.

TFTC TNLN great walking along the beach to the other cache. Didn't find this one at first - what on earth might be 3m from the centre of carpatk? After the walk we came back with fresh eyes and Mr Pedibus Imus scored the point.

Walked around for awhile before deciding where cache would be quick find then tftc

Visited here this morning while exploring South Arm Peninsula. We get smilies for all three Calvert caches (Lagoon, Beach and Walking Track). First time anyone has visited these caches for 2 or more months. We weren't sure whether they would be still in place. Maybe the flooding that occurred in June/July in Tasmania didn't affect this area.
What a great secluded beach! Except for the cool wind, the Boss said it reminded her of our beaches at home to the north of Cairns. The cache is in good condition. TFTC

Today we grabbed some smilies down South Arm and this was one of them, a quick find.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Got here and waited for a couple of Muggles to leave and then started the search. The gps was all over the place and then I found that if I stood in the middle of the parking area the gps settled and took me straight to the cache which turned out to be a quick and very easy find. Hubby was pleased because it meant he could stop looking in the bushes. No rubbish or anything untoward at the cache GZ. TFTC Smile
We're on the way south again to visit and say goodbye to our family as we've now got less than two weeks left of our six month stay from the Kurrajong area, (Blue Mountains) NW of Sydney. We've been touring in the caravan and also visiting with our kids and grandkids in the Huon Valley Smile
We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and I for one don't want to go home!

We found GZ along with all the rubbish and dead animals the VO might need to check

This one took a bit longer because the GPS wanted us out in the middle of the carpark. More cars here than we thought on a cool day that promises showers. TFTC

Another of the three that I found around regatta day and hadn't logged yet!

A lovely afternoon caching with geokid and geodad. I remember us swapping an item in each cache but can't recall what they were!

Our sixth cache on a Father Daughters day of caching on Fathers Day.
A nice quick find.

21-Aug-14
We found this to be the hardest of the three Calverts hides to locate - but that's just because we were looking on the wrong side of the object in question. Silly us. Not as popular here today as Billy's Beach & definitely quieter than at the bluff where it was muggle vehicle central for some reason. On a Thursday too.

Hadn't been here before but will definitely be back for a walk... Geo-son loved the beach Smile TFTC

Zop and I are really enjoying the area and caching along the way. We decided to drop some Pathtags in this cache for the next finders.

No need to go in where the litter is. Yuk. Had I been more careful I could have avoided it too. Left a badge. TFTC. Angus the great GeoWestie assisted by grey nomad Carer Lis Brown en route from Bundaberg Qld to Perth WA via all of Tasmania.

03-Feb-14
Saw that there were several newish caches on the way to South Arm since we were last caching in the area. Popped in to drop off a traveller, and had to continue to do the next one.
A nice easy find, pity about all the rubbish.
Thanks JABs.

#533 for us, found on a lovely sunny day.

Found while on a visit to Tassie to support juc_jr#2 as he competes in the Surf Lifesaving Southern States Challenge.

We're not staying with the team, but we were to meet up with them at the airport for a 1pm flight home. We checked out a bit earlier than we had to and used the time for a final drive and to grab some last caches.

Another nice view of the beach after a quick grab before any muggles showed up. Just as I was walking back towards the car, a pair of muggles popped over the dune on their way back from a swim, so our timing was perfect !

Not sure yet, but this one may end up being my most southerly cache ! (For now anyway)

Thanks for the cache again JABs

I've been saving these for a nice day so I could have a walk round the area at the same time and with today being a good choice to nip down and grab them.

After parking up it was a very short search and Mrs SSRat soon had the cache in hand so we had a walk along the beach and took in the rays and the view for awhile before moving on to the next cache.

Thanks for the cache.

I actually thought this was the car park near my own cache (Billy's Beach), and wondered why it looked different. Anyway, after finding the cache we set off as it is always a great beach for a walk. (I realised then that the car park was the next one down). Maddie enjoyed a number of swims and then we walked the other direction to Billy's Beach cache so that I could check on that. A great outing. Thanks for providing the motivation (and the cache), Jabs.

We arrived at GZ to find a couple of surfer lads heading back from the beach. We waited for them to depart and then had a look. A quick find by the Bear helped him regain some dignity (3 to smiley/2 to the Bear). TNLNSL. TFTC.

On training mission with gooseandegg. Second ever find for us and equipment worked better this time. Wonderful lunch sitting on the beach watching the waves crashing in. Lived in the area for over 35 years and first time sitting on the beach. Think this geocaching thing could be really good!!!!!

Mobile phone connection can be flakey. The beach is great for forgetting the rest of the world exists - only in Tassie.

Hi jabs another quick find before the rain came.

14-Oct-13
The carpark was empty when I arrived, but just after I replaced the cache a muggle drove in to take her dog for a walk on the beach, or maybe the dog was taking her, who knows?

10-Oct-13
We walked along the road from Calverts Walking Track http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC4P02F_calvets-walking-track and saw that there was one car parked with the driver just hopping back in. He started to reverse but stopped, so we were unsure what our next step would be. It seemed the best option was to walk up the track to the beach where we discovered why the driver was waiting with the engine running. A woman was sitting on the track taking photos of her dog and our arrival curtailed that and she walked to the car and our path to the cache was now clear. A chainsaw carrying man was seen in the container and we decided to take it to turn into a travel bug. TFTC JABs

As we haven't been beyond Sandford for several years when three new caches were placed near Calverts Lagoon we decided it was time to head that way. There was also two close by ones and they were added to the list.

Rocks and bushes a few but found it

28-Sep-13
In recent months we have made a concerted effort to find all caches on the South Arm Peninsula (excluding the one on Betsy Island as we have no means of getting there). Then the three caches were placed at Calverts Lagoon and we just had to make an early return to tidy the area again. All three caches in the area were straightforward, quick finds and were in good condition. Thanks JABs for these caches and for your regular placement of new caches in interesting areas.
