Logs
I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
Cache owner posted a maintenance post saying cache not their as structure has been demolished and does not seem to be reading his emails to archive it himself.
since the structure has gone the cache needs to be archived not maintenance done. Then the cache will be gone from map. I was going to have another go at this last weekend but found by previous logs that tower no longer there.
Sorry this cache is no longer here as the structure it was in has been demolished.
There is currently no "structure" maybe it has been removed with the redevelopment DNF
Great wee hiding place. Glad hubby there to do the climbing. Boys had fun dodging the waves as the tide a bit high for this cache. Thanks to the other folks who described their find otherwise wouldn't have found this one
This cache should be disabled for the time being as the area is currently off limits. As it was a Saturday, we hoped that there wouldn't be any work being done in the area, and we were right, fortunately.
The tide was coming in, but StreetWalker bravely ignored it and had a hunt while I made suggestions of where to look . A tricky wee hide and probably deserving of both higher diff and terrain ratings. TFTC.

#13989. We were a couple of hours away from low tide, and that meant I was (just) able to keep my shoes dry. Clamboured up one side, but no cache there. Did a bit more than half a lap around the structure and was thinking of giving up, when I spotted a possible hiding place. Nicely done! I took it back to Troodles to do the paperwork, and then climbed back up to replace it. TFTC.
Today was an early start for a day trip to Timaru... Another cache I would have previously ignored since it involved a walk (at least it did today with the gate shut). Got to GZ and started looking around, I assumed I would be looking around at ground level with a T2 rating... but then started to read some of the previous logs. Initially thought I would struggle, since I'm not great with heights at the best of times, let alone a climb straight up... checked the side as per the hint without luck... started to walk away, composing my DNF log in my head... then decided to check the opposite side the same way - bingo... pretty pleased with myself. Just as I was about to drive away after getting back to the car, a guy turned up to put up a construction site sign - so not sure what that's going to mean... I noticed a few people mentioned that on previous logs... TFTC (3609)
Sadly did not find it despite husband showing off his monkey skills... With reshamfiriri.
Another place we'd never visited in Timaru! Who would have thought? What a cute wee bay...Tftc
Nice hide enjoyed grabbing it on a bit of a caching mission for the afternoon I liked the idea of getting it especially since the last time I attempted it the road was blocked by a work crew ... TFTC
This one had eluded me due to the gates being closed and no access allowed but as luck has it it was open today. Made a quick climb and a nice find tftc found with Rayzr2 and chiko1
Had a wander out with Mrs abxt350 on a lovely warm winters day. At the cache site we spent a bit of time watching a seal playing in the water. Nice cache to choose for my no 1000. Cheers
I couldn't get anywhere near GZ, it looks like they are rebuilding the breakwater there with 2 diggers moving lots of stuff. I would suggest this cache has either gone or at the very least in great peril.
Cheers,
S.t.

Nice walk out. It could not spot anything. Didn't climb beyond hint level. Will watch this.
The construction site gate was easy to get round. There is still a Hectors' Coastal Track sign down the end. TFTC
The access to this cache currently has a gate across it "construction site" however I found today (Sunday) nobody around and many people walking up/down the track. There has been a lot of shingle piled up by cache thankfully not at the end where cache is hidden. Is easy to receive.
Access to this cache is no longer. It has been shut off and is now a construction site this may change in the future but at the moment it is not available
As the clouds dispersed, what looked like a slog ended up being a most pleasant pre-lunch walk with the intrepid WGHS crew...cheers!
Found while taking a group from Waitaki Girls High School during their activities week. Nice day for a walk ending with a great view. TFTC
TFTC Found while taking a group girls from Waitaki Girls High School geocaching as part of their activities week.
I am spending a day or three in Timaru and hopefully signing off a few caches. The gate was shut but there was plenty of room around it. Had a nice walk from Stuart St.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Great spot! Gate was open today, so didn't have far to walk. Thank you for the cache.
Unable to gain access due to locked gate with and signs on gate and beach saying no access construction site
Found it hard walk across the stones and a nice challenge to find it but well worth it
Awesome cache, bit of a hike but worth it for the find, no Dolphins today
We enjoyed the walk to this interesting location. We were a bit concerned about the sign warning unauthorised people to keep out, but assumed as it was Sunday, no work would be occurring so it should be safe. We admired the structure from all directions, pleased it was high and dry today, and we clambered over it to the best of, and slightly beyond, our limited ability, but the cache was not to be found within our limits. We were suspicious of a couple of locations we could not reach, and suggest the terrain rating is a lot higher than 2.
1017 Last day in Timaru and my last cache. Great view of the snow capped peaks over the bay. Thanks for bringing me out here. All good with cache.
Didn't find on the Saturday so read some logs and had another crack today and easily found it. Quite a climb I might add TFTC took the trackables
Climbed up structure a bit but maybe not high enough to get it. Waves under part of it. Great spot. At this stage my caching for the day not going well finding 3 out of 6.
.. team work with red bandit 600 soon had cache in hand. No muggles around on Christmas Eve.
This gets a favourite from me, great scenery, lovely warm shingle on bare feet and a great hiding place!

Went to the site, waves around the base, but I'm not crazy or agile or young (at 71) enough to get high on this structure so gave it away.
just like " dashing rocks" this has taken a few visits but this morning I wasn't leaving without it and I basically walked up to GZ and voila, OMG how the kids and I haven't found this before with all our climbing and hanging around I do not now tftc I need to find a new challenge thee mole
In Timaru for a wee family weekend getaway. Out and about in the early morning...spiedatug and large tanker ship heading in to port so raced out here to watch it. Great cache hide & fantastic to watch the ship come in. Cheers.
Awesome cache location...loved it....on a stunning winter sun day.
Read cache page which made for easy find...nice hide.
As for "T".....locked gate meant 600m walk .....but it is part of the marked walkway, those signs don't want us over the barbed wire top fence!! So T1.5 except last 3m....so....I think "overall" rating is good at 2.
Signed log.
Thanks heaps thee mole for a nice view and cache.

no good today! an awesome spot for a cache, but no luck tracking it down, especially with a wee Meijer clan member wanting to look! A Rating of 2 for terrain might be a tad conservative...?
Mum thinks the best way to start a month is to find a cache.
I really liked visiting the area.
Thanks for the hide.

Thanks for the hide.
Both KN v2.0 and I had a go trying to find the cache with Mum giving directions but no luck.
Thankfully Daddy was with us and had another look where I couldn't reach and found the cache.
Thanks for the hide, nice location.

Thanks for the hide, nice location.
Mum said I was too small to look. I found some nice stones and we saw a baby seal.
Not too long a walk from the car.
Thanks for the cache.

Sorry for the late logging. We came down to Timaru to help celebrate a friend's birthday. To finish of the day we walked out to this cache. Got to see ship come in. A couple of guys on motorbikes were making too much noise but the left and we found the cache. Also got to see a seal.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
A lengthy walk from Caroline Bay on a sunny winters day. Great area on a quiet day. An ambitious place to locate a cache! TFTC.
We are wondering that this is terrain 2 as we had to climb! And it is a bit weird to enter a road with a sign 'no access' . But we eventually found the cache on a sunny autumn day.
the gates have been locked, due to work on the breakwater, but park up the vehicle and walk along the eastern beach. it is quite safe in the weekend or a night if now heavy equipment is working.
Road closed due to construction work, not accessible today, not sure for how long.
After a walk out with fog all a round us.This eluded us even though M @ 78yrs. Climb part of the way up, then I thought this is a young mans one as we are touring around in a caravan & I didn't want him to fall & break a leg or something
Expected to have sore arms after scrambling all over the structure, all below the ladder. A fav from me, as was fun, and there was no audience wondering what the heck I was doing. Had a weekend in Timaru, so did a bit of caching in around the town. Thanks for the hide.
Clambered about and found this time. Would have found on first visit if I hadn't resorted to the hint.
I had no idea you could get here, hence my long walk! Enjoyed the different views and the logs being worked. Nice hide, thanks.
5893. After spending some time walking around the Saltwater Creek wetlands we decided to have a change and move to the Port area. This cache was the second one in that area that we found and it was a beauty! Rodney went straight to the imposing structure and was soon climbing all over it, much to the despair of Iris. Some 66 year olds never grow up!!! After many fruitless but fun minutes Rodney decided to have one last go and the cache was soon in hand. Very good hide! Thanks for a great cache. We wonder what the fishermen and car sitters made of all that! Rodney and Iris.
This was one our trickier finds while in Timaru. It was blowing a gale out on the point which added to the challenge. Finally our junior cachet spotted it. TFTC.
No luck. If it's where I think it might have been, I certainly didn't have the patience to look for it.
good sized cache, picked up a travel bug so best one of the day. well placed. tftc
Interesting structure, I would be interested in its' origins, a family was enjoying the sea and sun alongside and didn't seem to mind three grown men closely inspecting this structure.
Thanks

13569... Nicely hidden at the breakwater... there is only so many places you can hide a cache... and it still took a while to track down. Nice views, TFTC.
Weren't sure how far we could drive to the cache site. We made it close enough to only have a short tramp through the loose stones. Then it was a bit of a hunt to find the hiding place. TFTC
Great spot on a lovely calm, warm evening. We had tea here and then went to look for cache. GPS spot on. Had lots of fun looking for the cache.
