The container's lid is no more... a replacement container is needed... I think the existing container is a 1L sistema... everything is absolutely soaked after recent rains
Caching with Tatt2squared and Key_Tat... found while heading to the nearby earthcache for earthcache day... log is unsignable as it is dripping wet as the cache is badly damaged...TFTC.
Caching with Tatt2squared and Viper_101... finding some caches while earthcache hunting, found this one quickly, however cache has seen better days and the log is soaked through... TFTC.
Found in the company of Key_Tat and Viper_101... Found while out and about for Earthcache day... thought we would grab this while heading to the nearby earthcache. The cache was pretty easy to find with accurate co-ords, however the cache is in really bad shape, no lid, and full of water, and the log is unsignable at the moment... thanks for placing for our enjoyment...TFTC.
Found at 10:44:00 AM
Came out here for a wander with the old man. No water in the wetlands and consequently no water birds either. Got eaten alive by mosquitoes nonetheless. Cache needs a new container. Lid is stove in. Amazingly the log was dry enough to sign.
Thanks Mr Knexpert

After finding the nearby EarthCache, we continued on up the hill for the trad. The rather long. dry grass to GZ concerned me and my ankle socks, but I survived. The cache hasn't survived well - the lid is smashed up pretty badly, and it is going to fill with water if it ever rains.... it needs to be replaced... TFTC Mr Knexpert

I would not have known about the Cattai Wetlands unless I checked out this cache north of Taree. A quick search on the council website convinced me we should head out there for a look, and we were not disappointed. There is an amazing number of birds and ducks using the wetlands, although today there was no sign of the kangaroos or goannas that also live there. The tracks have been well maintained and only recently mowed. We only did the one walk around the main lake plus the lookout detour, of course, to find this cache. The lookout was a great place to sit and have lunch, and it was easy to walk up there. I walked through the long grass to GZ and collected the cache, thankful it was not summer with possible unfriendly residents. I decided to leave a TB, hoping it will not be too long before someone passes by and moves it on. Thanks Mr Knexpert for bringing us out here, we had a top day and wished we had more time for the other walks. The cache was really good as well!
Found today with littlemissleft and Tilly
Found during a day trip walking around the wetlands great walk but wow how many mozzies lol
Great loacation and cache in good condition

Found this one today with Gazkersh and Tilly. The mozzies were a bit crazy, so make sure you wear AND bring repellant! Signed log and replaced cache back to where it came from. We were hoping to see the resident snake, but alas, we missed it! TFTC! Gorgeous spot!
Found with Mum and dad (Gazkersh and littlemissleft)

I am logging now as I have my own account.

In the company of pprass- on our way to the earth cache- I noticed I hasn't done this cache- so a quick stop- beautiful view. Cache in good condition TFTC
We spent a couple of hours in the Cattai Wedlands, walked the tracks, watched the birds and took a lot of pics. What an amazing spot! The forrest loop we still missing, so we have reason to come again
What we weren't missing, of course - the cache! Our first one in 2018 [^]
A quick found, the box is in good condition. Thanks for hiding, redgecco

Ms Atalanta and I went to the Cattai Wetlands today to see the wildlife, especially the birds. While here, we thought we should visit the nearby Geocache.
The description of this cache mentions a trackable which did not seem to be present today.

We were informed by a local resident that a brown snake has been spotted close to where the cache is located.
After making a lot of noise and carefully avoiding a couple of snake holes along the small geotrail we reached GZ where the cache was quickly located.
The listed trackable "Travel Bug Face the Second" is not in the cache.
Thanks for the cache mrknexpert

Day 12 of our trip and we have now moved up to the Manning Valley area of NSW. After visiting Crowdy Head and Harrington today we stopped in at the Cattai Wetlands on our way back to Tuncurry. The mozzies were rife today even with a lot of spray. We walked to the wetland then the lookout where Mr Pooky made the quick easy find, before heading back to the car. TFTC and bringing us to this great spot, if the mozzies had not been so bad we would have stayed longer and walked further. TNLN.
Tftc. This one was found on our second visit to the Cattai Wetlands (we weren't playing when we first visited). A nice easy find on an overcast Sunday afternoon. Took a pencil sharpener, left a TB, signed log and headed home.
Nice walk up to the lookout and an easy find.
Could spend quite a bit of time wandering about this place.
Meet the CO later in the day on top of a mountain.

TFTC, amazing place, peaceful, scenic walk. Great view from GZ, got the cache then finished the 2.2km loop walk around the wetlands, a fav point to follow.
A nice easy find with 'sesblocker'. We had to park the car at the locked gate and go for a short stroll up the road. A lovely place for a cache. Thanks for bringing us here.
Found in good condition after a short stomp through the grass. Thanks for making us walk up the hill- lovely unexpected spot. TFTC.
Great walk around area lots of birds. 1st find for cache and us for 2016.
Keep up good work HBOC

The cache has been reduced to ash and a rusty spring after a burn-off on the hill.
Will head up this weekend to replace the cache and possibly find a new location.
Found what was left of the cache during a most enjoyable late afternoon stroll around the wetlands with the geocrew. There has been some burning off of late and alas, the cache has been reduced to ash with just a rusty spring remaining as evidence of its former contents. Nevertheless we will be back to visit again and definitely a favourite point from us. Many thanks Mr Knexpert

10:30 Third time to the Wetlands. A very interesting and successful project. Great views from near GZ. TFTC
Wanted to come here for a walk and check out this area because of the geocache. Thanks for bringing us to the nice scenery!
Due to MrsG getting it wrong, we arrived on Thursday to a locked gate. And of course we weren't about to turn our back on a cache that only involved a little gate hopping. The grass had been mowed around the picnic area but it still involved a small jungle to traverse to get to the cache....all the better to deter muggles! Pity it hadn't deterred the mozzies, they were so keen so we didn't stay long. TFTC mrknexpert.
Found during our January Family holiday to the NSW Mid North Coast, camping at the Big4 Caravan Park in Harrington. 77th find of the holiday.
A nice area that we had not known about. Despite being a weekend (Saturday) the gate was locked, so some gate scaling was required to reach GZ.
24th find of the day. TFTC.

Easier to take the obvious path, than try to go to it directly.

Don't know why not so many people get to do this cache, as the dirt road is in good condition.
And the walk is delightful when you are seeing all the wildlife around. (And hearing even more)
Didn't take too long to narrow when where the cache would be - all good.
Should have left Discover Me Tag, but took Diggin it TB

At end of the track we were confronted by a securely locked gate. Gates were meant to be climbed over if not able to be opened. GZ was very obvious so we continued on to an easy find though we did have to wade through some very long grass. We were fortunate that there were no creepy crawlies in it. The views from the top were wonderful, thanks for bringing us here and Tftc.
Thanks MrKnexpert.
Had to jump fences but it seems everyone did the same.
Lovely wetlands.

Lovely wetlands.
Today we took a drive down the highway to Harrington & home by Diamond Head finding a few caches along the way.
We pulled into the Cattai Wetlands to discover they are only open Mon-Fri, still the fence is quiet easy to duck under so off we went. Made our way up to the lookout & the cache was quickly located. We took a longer walk back to the car via the boardwalk, had trouble spotting any bird life.
There was a young person with a camera also wandering the area.
This is worth a favourite point.
Thanks mrknexpert for placing the cache here

Called in for a sticky beak and low and behold, all the gates where open so off I go. I seemed to be circling around the cache from the south before finding the trail up. It was a stinker of a day so the quicker I could get up there the better. On the way up I walked through a couple of blasts of hot wind and then it would cool back down again. Must have been that Nor' wester pushing in between the trees.
I wonder how many people actually come up here? Probably more school groups I'd say. And that massive timber pergola? Very impressive. Pity you can't see the wetlands from the top!
Thanks mrknexpert and Cheers from Browngang

A very pleasant stroll and some interesting local history along with at least 10 different bird species noted in this quick visit.

Who reads cache notes before heading for caches
Me, sometimes, rarely [:o)]
If "If" had read the cache notes he would have known that on a Thursday morning the gate would be locked
But as you say ... "a small fence jump never got someone in trouble"
And so I set off on foot along the trails of the wetlands.
From the outside it does not look like much, but once on the boardwalks the view changes dramatically
Beautiful !!!!
And up at the lookout there is a very well constructed shelter and enough information to keep one occupied for 15-20 minutes
There is a fascinating environmental disaster that unfolded here due to the early settlers attempting to change the wetlands to farmland
A lot of money wasted !!
And no more farming !!
But the legacy is this wonderful wetlands that the volunteers are restoring quite successfully
And I also know why some of the paddocks around Coopernook look like saltpans now
TFTC, it gets a favourite from me [^]

Called in before reading the cache page. Silly me. Open for 8 hours, 4 days a week and not today. It looked like private property all locked up so I wasn't jumping any fences. Another time.
This looked like an interesting place for a cache so the geoson and I decided to go for a quick drive today and check it out. After a short walk up the hill we soon had the cache, nice views from this spot but wow was it windy today. Thanks for the cache mrknexpert, its always great to find a place that you never know existed.
2010 GAFF1 Had planned on doing some 'cache maintenance' but the fires around Crowdy NP put a stop to that, and anyway I had seen this one 'pop-up' while I was down in Newcastle and it was within the 30km zone, which meant I would have to Find it to qualify for a Challenge in Sydney I hope to get very soon.
Parked about 200m from the cache, and soon found the way and the cache. (It was only when I got back to the car did I realise I dropped an envelope I was writing down a summary on, so back up the hill!)
Cache dry and intact. Unable to fit a correct site marker.
Brought through for mileage: 3 Bros, Aussie Nomad coin, Aust Light Houses, BEAGLE BIXBY, B 2 B ingot, BROWN BEAR 15 TB, Fishing Bell TB, Homer J TB, Iconic Bridges, cache critters Baa, Neigh Neddy, and Oink, PAP, RAINBOW BEARS 8 TB, Trakabulldog geocoins and trackable shirt.

Found at 2:43 PM GAFF1. A very interesting couple of co-incidences. First of all we were heading down to Hanam Vale to replace a cache and noticed that this one had just been published - which was practically on our way [^]. Secondly, it was just on Saturday that we were explaining to our son-in-law how the name Lake Cathie came about and how it is pronounced.
Drove to within a couple of hundred metres from GZ in a place that we had never been to before, or even knew about. Loved learning about the history of this place and what the council has done since 2003. Cache was found with deadly accurate co-ords and then we looked around the wonderful views - even the raging fire down on the coast was quite dramatic!
Thanks mrknexpert.
