Found it while doing daves creek walk. Detoured to find the coords first then completed the circuit. After driving out I stopped and easily found the cache. Thanks for the hunt!

Today JDavs and I set off from Binna Burra for a birthday hike in Lamington NP, the targets being Dave creek circuit with a detour to Upper Ballunjui falls. We did the circuit clockwise to add this detour at the start of the hike. After turning off we saw no one else on this trail which meant we had all the waterfalls to ourselves. Thanks to the recent rains all the falls were flowing really nicely and made for a beautiful walk. The posted coords are amazing, an awesome waterfall and a beautiful view, couldnt really get much better. I found the sign and calculated the final then we headed back and continued along the circuit. The 4.6km detour was further than I had anticipated but at least it was worth it.Some hours later we arrived at GZ and searched a bit before making the find. Thanks for showing us another beautiful spot HerbzFind #5826

This is such a great spot to visit. I could have sat here for hours looking at Egg Rock and further to the Gold Coast. Thanks for the fun Herbz

Nice conclusion to the cache, obviously well-maintained and well thought out. TFTC!

Staying at Binna Bitta for a few days and doing some of the walks in the National Park. Went round to Dave’s Creek circuit yesterday and detoured to Upper Ballanjui. Went close by where this cache was and managed to nab it – previous log did help tremendously. A very pleasant walk to get the final coordinates. TFTC

A party of 3 went out yesterday for this walk. We needed something with low k's and low strenuousness given we were all working off the xmas cheer. This seemed the perfect candidate. And we were not disappointed!

This is a fabulous walk taking in several lovely cascades and lookouts. Plus being Eastern side of the range it was generally cool and breezy. The canopy keeping the sun off right up to the lookouts themselves.

Thanks for bringing us here, Herbz. I'm slowly ticking these walks off the Herbz list. It will be a shame to complete them all, to be honest.

The final was in a logical place. I walked up to the feature but the hint had me searching for a while. In the end, I realised it was not the cache, but me that had to be down low! TFTC. Another favourite point from 5Meerkats.

Today, I joined GurTheWanderer and karicka with a planned Lamington National Park hike around Ships Stern circuit. We commenced the hike from Binna Burra via the Bellbird track, which then connected into the main circuit trail, and returned via Tullawallal circuit link. We ended up hiking approximately 24 km with the short detours to Ballunjui Falls. Following our hike, I slowly returned to Brisbane, stopping in Beechmont, Witheren, and Canungra to pick up a few geocaches, and the tramway history was quite interesting.

You would have thought that we would be smart enough to have not bothered to have walked to the lower falls, given the name of this geocache, but sure enough, that was what we did. Whilst walking the circuit, we saw this multi-cache nearby, and although I saw the break in the track, I thought that may have been artificial, and so we made the short detour. As we got close, the "break" became evident that the tracks did not indeed join, and we ended up getting 140 m (as the crow flies) away from the required sign at the posted coordinates, but at least the views of the waterfall were still pretty cool, and worth our short expedition.

Following our circuit walk, we then walked past the detour junction to the upper falls, and although GurTheWanderer and I were started to become tired, we thought we would take this option, with karicka continuing on the circuit walk since he had visited here in late 2020. We were both glad that we did come here, as the views between the falls and gully were awesome. We didn't have any issues in finding the sign that was starting to get swallowed from the forest, and with numbers crunched, we realised that we would get reasonably close to the cache later. I also checked out the nearby boulder/rock, but that didn't provide any additional views or amazement from other sights during our hike today.

Both GurTheWanderer and I closed out this multi-cache by jointly visiting GZ. The hint said down low, but we ended up finding the cache about 1 m from the ground in a logical hiding place. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Herbz for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Came out today with Davewazza and Karicka for a 22k hike. This one wasn’t a target cache but Dave and I made a quick (2.4k) detour and I’m glad we did. What an awesome waterfall. We did get confused at first and tried from the bottom up. Don’t do that!

Thanks for math maintaining this cache

Walking the Davies Creek circuit with the addition of these falls made for a good day in the bush.
Nice and cool in the rainforest but hot on the exposed parts of the track.
A few snakes spotted, I think the pyton at the falls is dead.
Great views from the top of the falls and then a push back to Binnaburra.
All is well with the new cache, the hint fooled me for a while. Knee height, nothing else.
Have another FP
Thank you for placing this geocache Herbz

Had a fantastic walk today with Wayn0. Did a few caches along the way. This was one of them.

Silly me thought, "Warning sign? Hmmm... I'm not sure that's it. Maybe it's just beyond". But I'm kind of glad we checked and Wayn0 encouraged me to follow. Nice view! Messaging my Dad later I discovered that he and I together had been leaning over the same cliff edge ourselves a few years ago when I was 11.

After our walk we stopped to collect a few caches. The updated hint want updated at that stage so it took us a bit before we realised the new one might have been placed elsewhere, and, Bingo! Got it.

TFTC and walk Smile

Lisylou, Bennyboppers and myself decided to do this hike on Sunday 14th July. It was a great walk with a wonderful waterfall to see at the end. We collected the information needed along the way. I had to go home that day while the other two stayed overnight. I looked for the cache on my way home with no luck. The other two looked for the cache the next day also with no luck. This weekend we had been hiking with Mr and Mrs CO. We told them of our inability to find their cache. They gave us approval to log the cache as they said that they would maintain it the following weekend. TFTC and for bringing us here!

Walk around from Numinbah oh Ship stern, Ballunjui falls, surprise rock, Binna Burra, Egg Rock loop. Being about half way this made a good lunch stop. Hot day with lots of water flowing made for many nice showers and swims. Cache found in a very convenient location before moving down the mountain. TFTC!!!!

I had to bring my daughter to Binna Burra for a school hike today so took advantage of the situation. I hiked around Dave's Circuit and down to the Waterfall before heading back to the . There was plenty of water around from the recent storms so the falls were spectacular thanks for bringing me here TFTC.

MrH being an engineer got interested in a construction detail while passing a sign on a hike. At close looks his GC instincts kicked in and he found and logged this box. Thanks and greetings to the friendly CO who enlighted us about the identity of the cache. Greetings from Germany!

we will replace the log as soon as possible, however, please feel free to add a temporary log book if you find it before we can replace it.

15-Feb-17
As mentioned, the log is disintegrating and damp. Should be replaced please.

15-Feb-17
Solved the clues quite a while ago, but hadn't a chance to check the cache. Finally drove to BB today for a picnic, and took the opportunity to catch this one. Log is very damp and disintegrating in the dinky little container, but managed to write GM 15/2 on a blank spot. TFTC, Herbz. Now where is Split Rock?

The Ballanjui falls are spectacular and I admit I hadn't heard of them before now. A must see for keen Qld bush walkers!
The cache was not where I expected it, and in a little bit of disrepair but the fragile log was still signable and I reattached it all appropriately. TFTC.

Well on the way back on the stern trail we came across the sign for here and we calculated we had time to get in and pick this one off today as well, and glad we did,as its very dry in here right now ,we hadn't seen much water,so it was nice to see a water fall, there always good.Thanks.Herbz.

Another find while here for a few days on our wedding anniversary. Mr CF found the coordinates while out on a longer walk. Then quickly found while out again the next day - TFTC.

What an epic day! Others had just done this and posted their adventures on another forum... and I have to admit, I got a bit jealous. "Why don't we ever do anything like this?" I asked EngPhil.

It didn't take much convincing before I had him arranging babysitting and logistics for the day.

We saw all kinds of fantastic flora and fauna, starting not even 50m down the track.

A challenging (for me anyway, not so much for my fitter caching partner) walk, but an amazing day. Absolutely loved being out here, and I need to start planning the next adventure like this!

TFTC Smile

Find #1889 at 17:58 with Palopinto.

Having seen some of the photos of last week's pilgrimage to this cache, Palopinto developed a serious case of "We need to go there!". OK, dear, if you insist.... Cool

Babysitting was arranged for today and we set forth on our journey. Possibly a little later in the day than I'd have liked, but it worked out fine.

We'd barely gone 50m into the trails when we encountered our first wildlife -- a nicely coiled python sitting alongside the path sunning itself. We grabbed some photos of the beautiful snake and then continued... only to see, less than 1km further along, some kind of small marsupial and its joey having lunch beside the trail! Smile

We also encountered a land mullet, the face of some other unidentified lizard poking out of a log, butterflies, and several species of bird.

We grabbed the clues for Coomera Seat Sudoku, visited Ballunjui Cascades and Guraigumai Rock (plus the other falls encountered along the way), and finally arrived at our destination.

Palopinto took plenty of photos as I admired the view, we then sat and deciphered the clues.

Our solution checked out and we filed it away to look at on the way out. Now, let's look at that Sudoku again... oh no, it seems to have fallen from my pocket somewhere! Surprised

Not to worry, I hadn't done much with it anyway [:o)]

Eventually we decided it was time to get going and headed back out, on the way encountering another hiker who asked us if we were geocaching [:o)] wonder what gave it away?

We chatted a while about some high-terrain caching adventures, before parting ways and continuing back to the carpark (on the way confirming we had all the info needed for the Sudoku safely recorded...)

We arrived back at the carpark just as our legs were starting to feel a little tired, and so sat and had a light meal at the teahouse while I (sloooowly) solved that ^&*% Sudoku.

All done, we packed up and headed off to GZ, where Palopinto spied the hide as we pulled up.

The log's a bit damp (as the last folks noted) but still signable.

All in all, this was great fun. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk and the scenery and wildlife along the way.

Thank you for the adventure, Herbz. We hiked for about five hours today, drove for three, and only got two smileys for our efforts. Those two smileys were *so* much more rewarding than a day full of park-and-grabs, we'll be back down here to pick up some more over the next few months, I reckon!

Thanks for the cache, Herbz.

We headed off today along with catscatscats22, Fangsoki and Crew 153 and were excited for the walk ahead. We all met at Chateau Crew 153 and hoped in the trusty FangPaj and headed south to Binna Burra. We pulled up in the carpark, and set off along the tracks and enjoyed the walk out to Upper Ballunjui Falls. We saw many great waterfalls, animals including a Carpet Snake, Whip Snake, Goanna, Land Mullet and different plant and bird varieties too. The walk was surprisingly not too tough, as the track is a gentle slope most of the way, and because of this we were able to tackly it nice and easily Big Grin After making it to the falls, and grabbing the information we needed, w eheaded back towards the carpark, and headed off totfind the final GZ. We soon had the cache in hand and added our name to the logbook before heading off to grab the final of another one [^]

Fangsoki and I were looking for a warm up hike in preparation for some serious hiking next month and this cache appeared to be just what we needed.

Fangsoki gave a call to Gaz'n'Kab on the spur of the moment while he was driving across town to pick me up.

We all met at my place and headed off for the hunt. It was quite a warm day down in the city but up top it was quite a bit cooler.

After having luck and getting a convenient parking spot we all kitted up and took to the trail. We had a few encounters with some wildlife of the slithering type along the way but enjoyed the numerous photo opportunities of the different falls and cascades along the way and eventually arrived at the goal. We admired the view and had our lunch before working out the coordinates for the final location.

The hike back to the car seemed to be al uphill but it was a steady climb and we made good time with stops along the way for a couple of other caches. It was with relief that I finally saw the carpark and took the obligatory group photograph.

Yep! That was just the workout that I needed to check my fitness and I think I should be right for the big one next month.

We headed to the cache location and spread out to search and I was the lucky one who spotted the hide. The log was extremely damp but we managed to put our names on it.

This is the type of cache that I enjoy finding. A favourite point from me. Thanks Herbz. I can see that I will be back here a few more times to enjoy the area.

Crew 153 and I hatched a plan to go tackle this one - we are big on doing certain types of walks at the moment.

I decided en route it would be plain rude to see if Gaz'n'Kab needed a diversion. A reply came back after a while. Yes - they did - and would like to join us. We all met up Mr Crew 153's and headed down to the Gold Coast Hinterland in the Canyonero.

We jagged an excellent park, kitted up, and started the walk. We were only here last week... for very tasty food... not for walking Razz

At first there is a long amble up as we headed up toward the old "Morning Tea" cache. Then it starts to go down.. down.. down.. and down. Thankfully not a steep down. As with our little group(s), we always stop and smell the roses. We took photos of various waterfalls and interesting fungi.

At one point, Kab was leading the way and suddenly put on the brakes. Holy honking carpet python that had recently engorged itself! As with many snakes that had just eaten, he was not in the slightest bit interested in us - thought we kept a very respectable distance. I did a bit of an arc off the path to bypass the snake and the others followed suit.

The path wound its way down. The distance figures were getting smaller and smaller.. slowly.. on the GPSr... and we finally arrived at GZ.

What a fantastic place GZ is. We all sat and ate our lunches. Gaz'n'Kab ventured a bit further to admire the view. Mr Crew and I were right where we were Razz Mr Crew did our sums for us and came up with some figures that looked good. (Now I see where the confusion came from about my name being in certain logs, Mr Herbz Razz)

I will save the story back for the next cache we did - Coomera Seat Sudoku. However, I will say we found the cache of course. Mr Crew's eagle eye spotted it. The cache was a little damp but still signable. Glad to get this one after 10 months or so unfound. TFTC Team Herbz Smile

The weather forecast for today was terrible, however I decided to take the opportunity to have 2 days in Binna Burra and grab a few of the remaining caches.

Luckily the weather held off and I was able to grab Surprise Surprise, Surprise lookout, Upper Ballunjui falls and Coomera seat Soduku today.

I left the main turn to walk the 2.3km down to the falls around 2:30pm, getting a little late but I still had plenty of time. Some great waterfalls and cascades to be seen along the way.
I gathered the correct information and set for home, returning to the campground around 4:30pm with a 20km walk for the day.

Picked up the cache on my way out this morning

thanks Herbz

Happy New Year!

First order of caching business in 2015 is a little walk around Dave's Creek Circuit and perhaps a side trip to Upper Ballanjui Falls.

I left home nice and early this morning. On the way I passed an RBT which was doing a roaring early trade. It is strange to be setting out on your day, just as others are finishing up the previous day (in the back of a paddy wagon).

It was nice to be on the border trail again. A quick stretch at the Coomera Seat, then a little bit of navigation and an enjoyable ramble downhill through the rainforest and I was soon at Daves Creek Circuit junction.

After finishing off Daves Creek Circuit, I felt spritely enough for this cache - knowing all to well that it would be about 4 km of gentle uphill back to the Coomera Seat. It is a pleasant meander along the creek from The track junction. I had passed the turnoff to the top of the falls when doing the full Ship Stern circuit previously, but have never been down this trail. It is deceptive with a lot of long switchbacks meaning that it takes forever for the GPS to count down. Finally, I arrived at the listed coordinates. It was hot - hot enough that I contemplated a NUFAS swim in the pool below the falls........ Smile. There had been a big storm last night so the creek was running strongly.

After solving for the final location, and a quick bite, I began the trudge back to Binna Burra.

At final, the cache was found quickly - although I did go looking in another nearby spot first. I bet it was another cacher who stuck that rock in the end of the fallen log too!

Thanks Team Herbz. A most enjoyable day out trekking around your hills.

Pete

After knocking over some other caches along the Daves Creek Circuit, our intrepid band separated with Lady Sim bravely heading back to camp on her lonesome, with Ghostgums not far behind as he had alread found this cache. Pprime, Swellerfungus and I decided we hadn't done enough walking for the day so took the extra journey down to the falls. It was getting late in the afternoon so we made good time to get to the falls where we obtained the necessary information. After doing the numbers to get the final GZ we couldn't hang around any longer for fear of having to walk in the dark so headed off for home. Well Swellerfungus took the lead, and boy what a cracking pace he set. I'm sure I could see smoke coming off his boots as he motored along the track. Thanks to his leadership we quickly reached the Coomera Seat with plenty of light left to get us back to our camp. It was at the seat that we came across of small group settingup their camp for the night just off the side of the trackSurprised A quick hello/goodbye and we were on our way again to finally reach the comfort of a hot shower and a comfy chair and a great pizza from the cafe for dinner. After another walk on Saturday, Swellerfungus and I ducked off early Sunday morning to add our names to the logbook. Tftc.

The rainforest really is a single, living, breathing organism and a beautiful to creature to witness. I have seen her after a wet season and the night after a big storm where creeks become small rivers rushing to for the nearest cliff, gullies become creeks and every leaf, rock and twig drips with green moisture. The sound of animals and the feeling of clean and vitality fills the air. holes in the canopy appear from tree falls, providing opportunity for the quickest of species to taste the rare, unfiltered sunshine. But during a season such as it is now, where water is lacking except for far out of sight and all the greenest and smallest plants give in. The rainforest transforms, cutting what is not absolutely needed to survive and so in place of lush green are shades of brown and the signs of rougher times. The dry forest, still beautiful but has a desolate feeling. Birds and lizards are more easily seen scurrying about their days, also parched since the rains. And you know, hiding are all the tools for impenetrable forest growth waiting for that next storm.

Planing for this walk consisted of rummaging around in my drawer for the track map and driving up the hill with a keen muggle friend. It was not long at all that we were both powering along the track, crunchy leaves underfoot, slightly uphill to Coomera Seat for a break before then following the various signs towards the falls with the funny name.

It was noted that from the seat onwards was downhill. Steadily, but constantly. That should be fun on the return! But it wasn't sunny at all and there was a breeze most of the time. Even at our brisk, tall person pace the temperature was tolerable.

I think the greatest and unexpected part of this walk for me was just how many smaller waterfalls it passes. Each one we stopped for a closer look. I always check the pool for tadpoles or crayfish and wonder why the waterfall cut into the rock and now looks the way it does. The creek is hardly flowing at the moment but the calm trickle bubbled past in a most pleasant fashion.

Onwards. Downwards. Lots of large zigging and zagging which provides a gentle descent but makes the GPSr somewhat cruel as it displays only a metre made good for every dozen walked. Muggle friend I'm pretty sure asked at least a thousand times 'is it far to go now?'

Eventually it was not far to go. Soon after, we were there. After some 5 kilometres and many discussion topics from public speaking contests to career choices. We sat down by the falls, which were basically enough to make the rocks wet and looked out over Egg Rock for lunch. I pondered how truthful the sign was, but dared not test it out today.

Now halfway through our tight time allowance today, we hopped up and headed back. The pace was even more full on and with the slope now going the wrong way, chatter slowed in favour of oxygenated blood. And we didn't stop for as many sniffs of the proverbial roses. 'How far back to the seat?' Uh! You've gotta be kidding me - does it ever stop? It was like having kids in the backseat Razz

A stop off at the Coomera Seat for a breather and now downhill home - or more just the car which was halfway back down the road thanks to a busy long weekend. A quick, unexpected stop at a geocaching event and it was car time to the final. Naturally I made a pooch's mealtime of finding the container, checking over that side, then over that side when I spotted that something out of place - and a lot closer to the car. I added my name to the logbook and declared it as 'Found'. A great spot to visit today and the geocache provided a goal for our little bushwalk. As always a most enjoyable outting for a Herbz geocache. TFTC Herbz, another favourite point Smile

A weekend out of town avoiding the G20! Wahooo! What a better way to spend it other than with a group of fellow geocachers walking around in the bush and camping at Binna Burra!

One of our walkers (Ghostgums) had lagged behind for photo's and LadySim decided she dd not need to see the falls (and opted for a leisurely stroll back to camp!) left snj, Pprime and myself to wend our way down to the falls. What I had mistakenly read as a 2.5 klm return journey ended up as a 2.5 ilm each way trip. Oops...
We made good time down, down, down, and zigged and zagged back to the creek many times. Some very attractive places here, and with note time and daylight, I would have liked to stop and take it all in. Unfortunately just not to be today.
We came to a false end (no signs here) and continued on until we were greeted by a very nice view and waterfall. Again it would have been nice to stay longer (indeed I found out after from Mrs Herbz that there is a nice view just over there...) but it was already after 4pm, daylight was waning, and a night in the forest did not sound interesting. We took the needed info, and began the grind back up the hill.
The return trip was somewhat of a blur. We all kept up a tremendous pace and made it back to the seat in around 50 minutes. Good time in my books. We then made a more leisurely pace back to civilisation, a shower and a great pizza - all in that order.

Thanks again Team Herbz!

Heading ... well anywhere except Brisbane really - Binna Burra looks nice, away from the G20 madness, and into the Hinterland goodness. Getting on late in the day, we've just walked the Davies Circuit, but Swellerfungus, Seff and I (Lady Sim headed back and Ghostgums had been here before) wanted this little side trip - it's only 600 odd metres, won't take us long.[:o)]

OK, that's a 2.3km each way version of 600 odd metres I've not tried before. The track zagged, and zigged like it's life depended on it. But that meant we got to follow the creek as it wound down to the falls itself - I like creeks. I liked this creek. The Falls weren't in full flight, it hasn't rained that much lately, but it burbled it's way over the edge happily - and I drank it's sweet goodness on the journey back to camp. My photo of the view came out too blurry [:(!], but I got one of the falls. Trust me, the place is very pretty as the sun set behind me.

Grabbed the logbook to sign later on in the weekend. Had an awesome weekend, glad to share a third of it with you.

Thanks for placing this cache, Herbz. Found in good condition.

Found with Goldielover. A nice early start had us at Binna Burra. The car park already had heaps of cars crammed in but there was still a spot for us. Small groups were heading out to various parts of the National Park. One group were heading on the same circuit as us and offered to let us tag along with them. Thanks but no thanks, we were on a mission. We headed out in front of them and passed another few groups on the way. We had a very quick stop at the Sudoku seat grabbing the necessary stuff from it. It was perfect hiking weather, the heat of the day had not built up yet. We had already been out to the lookout and on the way back made a detour to the Ballunjui falls. Well there would have been falls here if it had rained recently. There was still some water in the creek in spots but the flowing has now turned to a trickle. The track in was covered in leaves, I almost thought it was Autumn. A nice walk down and just before the falls we could here voices. When we got there it was one of the groups we had passed earlier. A quick chat and they were on their way back out. We ventured a little further to get even better views and gather the necessary info. The views today were great. We could clearly see the Gold Coast and Brisbane tower in the distance. A nice photo stop and a little rest before heading back our selves.
Thanks Team Herbz for showing us this great spot. I think though I will have to come again after some heavy rains.

Done in conjunction with other nearby caches. Muti-cache has been a good way to enjoy the park.

This was my target for the day. I had taken a very scenic route to the falls. I had found some traditional caches along the way and a WP for another multi.

The temperature was around 20C today, so perfect for a walk. I did not see any other walkers until I got to the falls.

There was just a trickle of water over the rocks today, so not really a fall Wink I sat and had some lunch whilst I worked out the final numbers.

Not far back to the car after having done the Ship's Stern Circuit once more. I did the loop the other way last time. It is a bit of any easier walk back doing it this direction, if not really any shorter.

Some lovely views again. Lots of birds heards, a few even spotted. A few larger marsupials in the morining and heaps of pademelons along the border track. The big old trees are spectacular and there was plenty of fungi to marvel at too.

All in all a grand day out thanks Herbz Smile

Nothing motivates you to escape to the Gold Coast hinterland and go on a long walk on a hot day like a visit from the mother-in-law.

The trip up the hill in my geo-mobile was a bit of a challenge due to every man, woman and their dog dressing up in lycra and taking on the narrow windy roads on their bicycles. (actually there were no dogs.... that I saw)

I decided to challenge myself and kept up a steady pace along the track. I was a bit concerned that the 5km one way trip took a bit longer than I had expected but realised it came to 5.9km each way when I added the distances on the signs together. It was relatively cool going under the canopy of the rainforest but you really started to feel the heat as you approached the cliffs where the trees thinned out a bit. The water in my Camelback was greatly appreciated on what ended up being a day with higher than average temperatures. I saw the turn off for "Ship's Stern" along the way but decided that the cache and an extra 15km of walking could wait for another day.

The waterfall was very picturesque and I spent a bit of time playing around with my camera and variable neutral density filter to get the long exposure effect that is very popular with waterfall photos.

With the clues collected and some photos on the memory card I headed back. The 12km ended up taking just under three hours with about 20 minutes at the waterfall. The sight of the Binna Burra Cafe was a welcome relief. I grabbed a coffee & a burger and enjoyed a bit of sit down before heading of in search of the final location.

Thanks for the cache Herbz. A great spot and an interesting walk.

The trip home in the geo-mobile was thankfully lycra free.

Find number 1848.... so here is something you didn't know (or maybe did know) about 1848..... The Colt Model 1848 Percussion Army Revolver is a .44 caliber revolver designed by Samuel Colt for the U.S. Army's Mounted Rifles, also known as "Dragoons". This revolver was designed as a solution to numerous problems encountered with the Walker Colt. Although it was introduced after the Mexican-American War, it became popular among civilians during the 1850s and '60s, and was also used during the American Civil War.

Down for the day with IolantheK to grab some caches around Binna Burra. After meeting up with Brother Colin at STUMP we grabbed a few more caches before reaching Binna Burra where the ultimate goal was Ship's Stern.
We started on the 'Lower Bellbird Circuit' track (as the other start point need the lodge was closed) and worked our way qalong the circuit picking up the way points and the views till we reached the 'Ship Stern' Lookout. Then we continued to the next WP and 'Upper Ballunjui Falls' [^]
A did of a zig zag path down to the falls where the GPSR tells you your getting closer then further away Razz Arriving at the falls the clues were noted and then all of us removed our shoes and cooled our feet in the pool [^]
After completing the walk we sat back with pizza and beer at the cafe at Binna Burra, calculated the final, and then went off to collect [^]
The cache is dry and in good condition [^]

Today I am on my way up to Binna Burra to do a hike around the Ship's Stern circuit with IolantheK and T-tech. Big Grin
With the start of 'the Ship's Stern' circuit closed we had the start along the 'Lower Bellbird Circuit' track. Surprised
This added almost 2km to our hike, I also stopped by 'Morning Tea' on the way out, which added another 1.4km to the day. Surprised
We also had on our 'to do' list was Upper Ballunjui Falls. We stopped here for a late lunch and to rest our feet in the water. This added another 2.5km and so it was a big day out for all of us. Big Grin
At the falls it was boots off and gave them a little R&R time in the pool. Cool
Lunch and a drink and a little time to work out the final coords and we were not surprised at all as to where the final is. Razz
A quick find at the end of a great day. A fav point as well. Cool
Thanks for the cache

T-Tech, Brother Colin and I were taking the looooonnngggg walk around Ship's Stern Circuit today, and we added the detour for this cache to our travels. After quite a lot of meandering our way down to WP1 we finally reached the the base of the falls, and took note of the info and crunched our numbers. The result made us all grin widely Cool Yep, I think we'll have no trouble finding that one, as we left one of the cars very close to it this morning! We took a well-earned rest break at the pool, and all three of us sat on the edge with our bare feet in the icy water. Very pleasant indeed [^]

Fast forward a few more hours, and after a meal of pizza and beer at the Teahouse, we set off to find the cache. Right where we expected, BC made a quick find. TFTC, Herbz.

We'd thought we hadn't been to Binna Burra for a while and as the geomidgets are getting older we're able to push further in to the bush. Knew this one was going to gain a little more winging than normal on the return trip as we descended into the rainforest further but it was well worth it. Plenty of bigger lizards out basking in the sunny spots along the trail and even managed to spot the elusive blue claw in one of the pools along the trail. Top spot thanks Herbz. Deciphered the code and with a likely GZ set in the trusty gps we set out on the uphill treck. Sure enough not long after we started so did the complaints lol bless em. A couple of 1 km shoulder rides each and the track began its slow decent into BB proper and every one was happy, especially with the promise of an ice cream at the finish line. After a bit of a rest we started home with a quick stop to retrieve the cache. Thanks again Herbs. A quick sign of the log and off home for a coldy..

The day was organised for Gunnie69 and ManicWombat to get their 6000 and 2000 milestones. The day was set, though it looked at one stage that the rain might set in and spoil the day. But as luck would have it stayed away.

We made our way down, through the last section seemed to take for ever, as we wandered back and forth. But we were spoiled with some nice side tracks to waterfalls and interesting rock formations. We eventually made our way down to GZ and got an absolutely great view of the valley below. Photos were taken and the information collected. We determined the required information and determined out final locations. We agreed that would be an ideal spot for a cache![^]

After some lunch we arrived at GZ and quickly found the cache. All singed and a smirk on the faces of a couple of cachers!Big Grin

Found with Gunnie69, ManicWombat, Bulldozer72. as we celebrated a caching milestone for Gunniue69 and ManicWombat.Big Grin

This is another one of the many longer walk caches that I have wanted to attempt, so when I recieved a invite to join a few cachers on a milestone hike I jumped at the chance. Nice clear weather was the forecast and the air temp was quite brisk when we all arrived at the parking co-ords.
Packs on and off we went stopping every now and then to inspect some of the hugh trees and small waterfalls along the way. Arrived at the falls after a nice easy walk and spent a while taking in the view out over the valley while having a bite to eat.
Grabbed the required information and began the return jourmey back to the start point and onto the final GZ to sign the cache. A really nice hike that has a gentle incline and not many stairs Big Grin

An impromptu email from ManicWombat brought this cache to my attention, primarily because he linked it in the email and highlighted his plan to head up this weekend and mark 2000 finds... Hmm I said, with a little dedication, we could make this a double milestone and agreed to tag along... With my number aligned yesterday (Not that the rain helped me any), I picked MW and bulldozer72 up this morning and we headed South to meet up with Ghostgums at the appropriate carpark... [^]

It was brisk, real brisk and the temps dropped as we wandered into the forest. A nice steady walk though and with all the instructions we needed, we found our way to the waypoint. Lots of gems along the way including mini falls, rocks, trees, wildlife etc. All made for a great walk and we arrived sweat free which is unusual for such a walk... Relevant details obtained, we made the return trip, stumbled across a few cool black lizards and worked up a bit more of a sweat on the up hill run. Back at the car park, a late lunch was in order as we prepped the gadgets for the final location. A short drive and we were at GZ. I spotted something on approach and suggested ManicWombat move in for the extraction... Still a little confused, Ghostgums took care of business instead... Wink We etched our names in the log, posed for the obligatory Milestone photo, then shot through... Smile

A great walk on what turned out to be a perfect day. I was amazed the falls were not roaring after the rain over the last day or so... They were just trickling really... [?]

Thanks for bringing us to another great spot and a memorable place for my 6000th cache. A favourite point from me, although one really doesn't do it justice... Big Grin

Cheers Herbz.

I was looking for something a little special for my 2,000th find and noticed this one. I do love a Herbz cache, and this one was almost brand new with only one findCool Now for some company for the trek. I contacted Gunnie69 who was very keen, as with some serious caching during the week this one would be be his 6,000th findBig Grin A double milestone, perfect! So the date was set and in company with GhostGums and bulldozer72 we set off. As always the scenery was wonderful in this special place. After stopping at some cascades, a smaller waterfall, and several amazing huge trees we arrived at the appointed place. Great views here too and after soaking them up we got down to business and soon had the coordinates for the cache itself[^] The walk back seemed much longer than the trip in, and with a few aches and pains later the carpark came into view. A late lunch a the cafe was most welcome before we headed off the the cache. This was duly found , signed by all, and stashed away for the next adventurer. TFTC Herbz, it gets a favorite from meBig Grin

This was very tempting for me this morning. Me alone with a GPS in the rainforest!! There was no time to grab a muggle friend who would not understand why I needed to do this now, right now.

I left home at about 9am as my mother called just as I was leaving and delayed me by about 20 mins.
I only met a few people out on the paths this morning and none looked like geocachers.
I ignored all of the other caches as I was challenging myself to find my first multi using just the Garmin. I knew that my iphone would be useless up in the rainforest.

I had never entered a waypoint into the garmin and was not even sure of how to do it.
I learnt sitting at the top of the falls in splendid isolation.
One day I must come back in a more relaxed mode and enjoy the rock pools, waterfalls and find the other caches. I did have a slight detour at the Cascades thinking that I was going in the right direction but the path ran out and after wandering around a bit remembered the terrain and difficulty rating and realised that I didn't have to risk life or limb walking across the fallen tree.
I was rewarded at GZ by an empty log at 1.30pm after a 10 klm plus hike. The log was labelled "Forgotten Falls" and for a moment I thought that I must have found the wrong GZ BUT - it was a new Herbz cache at exactly the right GZ.

Whoever comes after me will be able to wander aimlessly and enjoy the trees and pools etc.
The cat birds' plaintive cry was to be heard in full chorus this morning.

Thankyou to the Herbz for inadvertently setting me a special challenge.
PS I rewarded myself with a Cherry Ripe and Magnum.
