I have a few days between Christmas in Palmerston North and starting work again so I headed to Christchurch, home of numerous challenge caches I now qualify for. The last time I was here tackling challenge caches was 2014!So I got up at 5am, (because I always get up at 5am) and planned to headed out the door for a few hours caching while I wait for the rest of the household to wake up.Except Miss L woke up shortly after me, so I asked if she wanted to come along. Up this early AND wanting to come? She must be ill. Maybe a walk in the fresh air will help. Or maybe she's bored because I would not let her play on the laptop.First challenge is this one (alas I do not qualify for the T challenge, and I don't sign logs till after I qualify, so that will have to wait).Get to GZ and there is a very light drizzle. No complaints from me. No complaints from miss L either. (Whaa??) Short walk to GZ. Hunt here. Hunt there. Hunt over there. Phone is taking me all over the place. Given this environment I bet the hint is useless. Checking... The hint is useless. Try some old logs. Useless. Hunt some more. Give Up. Give up cancelled! I have my garmin! L and I head back to the car, grab the Garmin and back to GZ. Garmin takes us straight to the cache and we find it in under a minute. And by the way it is still light drizzling.Love challenge caches. Many thanks for this! Hey, and it is a tolerable size, too. Gets a fave.[the Seagnoid](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=the%20Seagnoid) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC4PKWT/17193 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.GCcode - Difficulty / Owner / Cache nameGC6NN4W - 1.0 / TharnTheHalkan / River Roads #16 - The End of the RoadGC2P4Y2 - 1.5 / Linke / Where have all the golf balls gone? We left from Rotorua after a little delay and flew into Christchurch to start leg 2 of our journey. We made our way around to some great places ticking off a few caches that were on our list.
Just a little chilly and blowing a bit of breeze as we tottered off to find this one. Carø came up with the find and signed the cache. Thanks for placing this one and bringing us here.

On an amazing trip to NZ for the Tarawera Ultramarathon, this was found after our (extended) stay in Rotorua, when we flew down to Christchurch and then travelled southwards. Wow it was cold as up here! Invigorating and fun...or something?! Thanks for the cache!

Twiddling my thumbs at home, I thought I'd go grab a couple of caches.. This was one I thought I'd get. No issues with the find, bit windy up here, but the cache is hidden away nicely. Thanks for the challenge!

TFTC TheWanglers, the cache was found in good order Very Happy Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 1 find(s) of 2 today, making this find #3506

Greetings from QLD, Australia! We are in NZ for some skiing next week but are spending a few days in and around Christchurch. There’s a crazy challenge back home to collect multiple caches types in at least 2 countries.

Having not found a mystery in NZ I decided to see what challenges I qualified for. This one fit the bill nicely so it went on the list. On our roundabout way to go for a ride on the gondola we detoured here first and went for a walk up the path to GZ. The cache was found without any trouble and was happy to stamp out name in the log. Beautiful views up here, great location for a cache.

It seems I've had this on my list for nearly three years and I don't even remember adding it but today I decided to bring my lunch up here to get some quiet time. Since I'm here I spent a few minutes looking for the cache and found it quickly in the first spot I checked so I was happy with that. Beautiful view here. Thanks to TheWanglers, your cache is in good condition.

Down from Northland for a one week trip to Christchurch to pick up some solved puzzles, challenges, unusual cache types, Jasmer grid fillers, as well as a few others in passing.

List submitted in March last year that was in preparation for a May trip that never happened thx to Covid. With another trip in Sept cancelled also, have had to wait until now, to get down this way. And only just made it this time with Auckland coming out of level 3 mere hours before our flight was due to depart. ... !! Third time lucky I guess.

Had to let GPS settle for a while before locating this one. Signed off and replaced safe and secure as found. TFTC

Team BOP on another crazy mission to the South Island. Lockdown gave us a lot of free time that we directed into Canterbury’s many Geo-Arts and with the Auckland 2020 Mega postponement, Christchurch was an easy decision. Team BOPs current incarnation is DavidsonClan, NZFlossy, McJandals and myself and we’ve signed all the logs as Team BOP to save time and log space.

So it's Labour Weekend 2020, it’s a numbers mission and on our last day we're having a wander around the Port Hills before we head to the airport. We have a lot of caches to choose from today and we're looking to spend some of our freshly acquired favourite points. This cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords, a straight forward placement and a good hint. Thank god for challenge checkers because this one wasn't on our list but we were pleased to find that we'd qualified. Cheers The wranglers & TFTC

As Auckland Mega has been postponed we decided to do a trip south to Christchurch. Four of us from Team BOP joined up to share a car and accomodation. I always love these weekends as the company is great and makes our days and nights out caching lots of fun. We have done lots of puzzles in preparation and did some long windy roads to get them. Found lots of great caches and thanks to all the COs for the effort that goes into these Please excuse the copied logs and I will try to make some individual notes on as many as I can This sort of trip is where I find the cachly app very valuable. NZFlossy fulfils challenge The 'D' Puzzle Challenge (Canterbury) (GC4PKWT), according to https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC4PKWT/17193 Great views even when but cloudy and cold TFTC

A lovely sunny afternoon - typical Christchurch winter weather! - so off we went geocaching. Found the cache quite easily but Iris had a fall right at GZ, luckily no apparent serious damage, she used my tramping stick to get up and back to the car. (Update - 24hr surgery at 2am. X-ray at 9am. Broken bone in wrist! The joys of geocaching). We had checked before leaving home that we qualified. Tried to choose caches from around the world! TFTC. Rodney and Iris.

Well, there's nothing like a need to gather souvenir items to make one look at their "need to get this one day" cache list! So, despite a rolling mist up there, off I went to finally find this one. Very memorable, almost total fog as I got higher, lights on and creeping along the road like an old lady(???) Really happy to find the car park and then the path. So, here is my list of D caches.

Found at 4:58 pm while on a week's break in Christchurch. Will expand log when we get back home (as well as answers to questions, qualifying caches, photos, etc.).

We came up over Dyers Pass Road and turned up onto the Summit Road so I could grab this one. The cloud was low so there wasn't much visibility, but there was plenty of wind! Followed the GPS to the GZ and started looking around. Hmm, lots of places to hide, so better get cracking before I either freeze or get blown off. Eventually found the cache and signed the log. All good here. TFTC

Meanwhile this is my third geocaching-trip to Middle-Earth Smile. And I love it! [:X]
Unfortunately, this great vacation is now coming to an end and Christchurch is the last visiting stop for this time Wink.
Sadly today (day #29) with again splendid, sunny weather was the last day for treasure-hunting on this trip Sad .
I dedicated it to visit a couple of ‘OLDIES’ [^] in the south and east of the city Big Grin.
A good decision, that was rewarded with awesome views and quite some adventures in the countryside Wink - E.G street closures Surprised.
Above that, some pre-solved mysteries, a cool challenge, the webcam and the virtual cache at CHR-airport were on the list [^]...
Happy to visit the selected jewels Cool - just like this one:
I love challenges! Big Grin
And this one was also rewaridng with a breathtaking view [^]...
Deserves a favoutite-pont [^]!
Thanks to the owner [:X] for placing and maintaining this cool challenge-cache and best regards from Germany! SmileSmile
P.S.: I’ll be back for the next kiwi-adventure! Big Grin

I came to this one on a nice wee walk today with tandem4, nona4 and cajunchris. We parked up at the Sign of the Kiwi, and took the windy walk around the area. Found all we searched for, bar one. Great views, great friends and a great day! I qualify for this nice challenge according to project-gc, but the others don't (at least not yet!)
I dropped a geocoin I brought from Europe. Happy trails!

Another stunning part of these hills. Today there even was a wedding less than 100m from GZ!

With nearly 10 completed D/T loops, qualification for this challenge was never going to be an issue:

#5231. The family is on holiday in the South Island and staying for a few days in Christchurch. Today we decided to visit Birdlings Flat, the summit road, Lyttelton, and ride the gondolas. So headed out here late morning (yes we have a teenager so no early starts). After visiting Birdlings Flat we drove back and had lunch at the Blue Duck café. Then headed up this road picking up a few roadside caches before the moaning in the back seats started up. Managed to get the family to allow me time to locate this one before we headed down to the harbour below. Took a bit of searching as well as there were a lot of options under foot once I got closer. Finally saw some tell-tale signs and there was the nicely tucked in cache. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for the cache TheWanglers. My qualifying stats were entered back in March 2017.

I'm from Norway, escaping the cold winter and travelling around New Zealand for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my tourguide. Today I decided to find all the challenge-caches in town, but ended up just getting up to Summit Road and really enjoying the beautiful area up here. Well, I actually also managed to get 7 types in a day, which was easy to do here, since you both have a virtual and a web-cache.

About this cache:
I used project-gc to see if I qualified, and I did, but project-gc had put in a couple of challenge-caches here, so I had to do a bit of manually work to make it complete. Here is my list:
GCcode - Difficulty / Owner / Cache name
GC4E4CW - 1.0 / Porky2 / Driefontein TB Hotel
GC6G3CR - 1.5 / Team Karlsen/ Barne TV
GC1224D - 2.0 / Mostly Moose / Nordmarkstrikken
GC38BT1 - 2.5 / Red Starred / Telephone Disconnected
GC5T5F6 - 3.0 / Team Espira / Hmmm...
GC5R1FN - 3.5 / Fjellglunt / Bolle mysteri

GC6HMMF - 4.5 / Froweg / This makes no sense?!
GC25VN5 - 5.0 / KiwiGary / Breaking Bad Habits (Auckland)

The cache was quickly found in a place with beautiful views. Thanks for the challenge!

Posted my qualification note 12 April 2016. It's taken me that long to get here! Stupid really as it's quite close to home. Anyway, I'm now trying to keep a streak alive so I popped up here to make a quick find before the cloud rolled back in.

T-Tech and I are travelling around South Island for 6 weeks Big Grin

We are down to the last couple of days of our holiday, and are exploring the greater Christchurch area. We stayed last night at Allandale, and T-Tech was a bit keen to grab a few Challenge caches today.

It's a great walk up here, and T-Tech made the find. Then we continued up to the big pile of rocks to see the view, which was breath-taking [^] Such a great spot to be. TFTC, and Challenge, TheWranglers.

Visiting from Brisbane with Slow Puncture for the Oamaru Geofest, and we're seeing all the wonderful sights the South Island has to offer as we travel along. Day 4: We said farewell to Oamaru and headed North in the drizzle to Christchurch, with a few sidetrips along the way.

We had an amazing view of a big storm developing across the bay. Fabulous spot to take pics from, it's not possible to take a bad shot!! See our previously submitted qualifying list.

Thanks for the hunt **TheWanglers**, this find makes Smile #4341. Discover our TB

Monday. Slow Puncture has teamed up with Orange Crew to make a Moreton Bay assault on the Oamaru Geofest. Day Four saw us travel from Oamaru back to Christchurch, with a couple of loop diversions on the way out to the West.

This was the 29th of 37 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***TheWanglers***, for showing us this place. Smile Qualifying caches previously advised.

The second challenge on our way on the DT mission.

If for the Difficult 'T' challenge I qualified only today, this was another story. I knew that I had already qualified for this one before as it was saved in my Challenges Completed list. But I decided to find out how long ago did I actually qualify.

So I dived into the deepest corners of MyFinds database to find out. Turns out that I qualified for this as soon as I found my first D5 mystery - December 2009. A bit more than a year into geocaching.
It was quite different from now back then though. I think, there were only about a hundred active mystery caches in the country (Latvia) then and that was the first and the only D5 puzzle at at the time.
