#14 Lower Blues hike OCW with BEGJM. Thanks to the COs for placing these cache #2446
A quick find once GPS settled on GZ. Hint made sense once found. SL as BEGJJM. TFTC whitemushroom
Out caching with Everesthigh, Brewmaker, JG9172 and gaving04 this afternoon. The weather got quite hot and humid, but we had a great day with lots of geochat and laughs. This one took a little bit of searching before Everest made the find of the clever hide. Thanks for the cache whitemushroom tnln replaced as found sl
Nice find, even if Im inappropriately dressed. Shorts, thongs. Although I did bring a pen, torch and bushbashing gloves so thats not a bad stroll. Sunset was 20 mins ago. On return home, ah! A feasting leech against my bare leg. With five TBs in tow: Cheetah, Harmony Smurf, Canadian Flag, Dosenjger and Dog Tag (with his green soldier tugging the tag all the way).
We crossed the creek close to the previous cache in this series. Walking down the road to a crossing point near this cache was not ideal

We are on another short (four day) caching holiday in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, staying for three nights in a park cabin at the Ingenia Nepean River BIG4 Holiday Park at Emu Plains. Hoping to collect the latest GFA Puzzle, Wherigo, and Letterbox caches that have appeared around Luddenham & Wallacia since our last visit to the area, and will have a go at the new GFA Adventure Lab. Will also be returning to the lower Blue Mountains to visit some previously unexplored caching locations, revisiting areas around Penrith & suburbs that have new or replaced caches, and maybe finish with a visit to the Londonderry area. Photos will be uploaded to some logs on our return to home base. This was the 8th of 15 finds for the day (day 2), and 21st find of the holiday.
Today we headed up to Lapstone to make some finds for International Geocaching Day and the world wide caching record attempt for the most cachers caching on the same day (August 20). After trekking around the Lapstone gorge for a few hours we headed up to Glenbrook for some lunch, then grabbed some more caches in the lower Blue Mountains before heading back down to Emu Plains.
Arrived at this one next and, after negotiating the creek crossing and a light bush bash up to GZ, made a quick find of another nice bit of themed camo. This one goes well with the previous cache. TNLNSL, then replaced as found. TFTC whitemushroom, and Happy International Geocaching Day to everyone

Find #5455
TFTC. Third find for the day, a nice little off the track walk. Fingers crossed we can make it back over the creek!
Tftc. walking from East Blaxland with Nymeria. Locals asked "who are you?" I responded "a geocacher!"
June long weekend and i decided to stop off and grab this one on my way home.
After crossing the stream i made a quick find before i continued on down the pass.
The container is in good condition and the log is dry.
Thanks.

Hammer time. Found this after the finding the nearby hammer cache. GPS had us searching around a bit, but located it after not too much effort. tftc.
I was in the area to pick up/archive my local caches as I'm heading north. this one was nearby so figured I might as well have a look for it. all good with the container, it could do with some more paper but I didn't have any with me today i'm sorry. as its been so dry it was easy to cross the creek. tftc white mushroom - hope you are well
Found as darkness set in making the walk back ... interesting... particularly the slippery rocks near the road. Enjoyed this little series. TFTC
The start of a great bush walk. Might not have gone in further if this one hadn’t been not far off the road. Found our way in after a bit of reconnoitering along the road and the informal track appeared. Nice hide. Dead possum body a bit further along the track. SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek
After finding the nearby "Wheres the hammer?" we headed on to this one. Seeing water in the creek I decided to let MrT cross over and I watched for birds! It didnt take long to find. Signed log and returned as found. A fav from us. TFTC
Streak Day #1316 - Took us a little bit to work out which way to get to GZ but once in the right direction we made a quick find and as every geocacher does we find an easier way out lol. TFTC
Headed to this one this afternoon and once we worked out where to cross the creek it was just a short stroll to GZ. As usual we found an easier way back out. TFTC
Stopped today on the way down the mountain and found this one in the series, nice area of bushland, look forward to exploring further. TFTC
#3414 (5 of 10 today)
Real Life has really impacted my caching lately - Pokemon Go hasn't helped either to be honest - but finally a day opened up where I could spend some decent time on the hunt.
Decided I wanted both numbers and a nice walk, so the lower Blue Mountains was the logical destination.
Ended up starting out later than anticipated due to computer printer issues but still managed a decent walk and made 10 finds - and only one DNF.
A good but tiring day.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
After my find at *'Where's The Hammer?'*, I had my Hammer Pants on (third bad MC Hammer reference) but my main issue was working out exactly where the trail went across the creek.
After that it took a short walk and a few minutes searching before I hit the nail on the head and spotted the cache.
Completed signing duties and replaced, then on along the trail to my next target.

A short trip this afternoon resulted in two GC traditional and a GA traditional.
Parked nearby and search the creek until finding a spot it could be crossed. then a scramble up the hill to GZ.
A short search soon had the cache in hand. Once the log was signed cache was replaced as found. tftc

A scramble over the creek and a short bushbash. With the GPS bouncing around, I was lucky to see the cache fairly soon. TFTC
A quick find after a nice circular walk in the area picking up several caches en route. TFTC

As stated for the previous hide, this is a very creative 'micro' ;p Enjoyed finding this one! (unlike the usual sydney urban micros lol) TFTC!
Found today in a collection of caches visited with Phlphoto and Alnic - creative interpretation of hammer! TFTC
#325 found with ani-del & alnic39 on an afternoon caching around Glenbrook. Ani-del found this one first as this time alnic39 sat back and watched us look for the prize. Signed the log & replaced, thanks for the cache
It probably took an extra 10 minutes find this cache as the signal kept dropping in and out. Anyway soon had CIH. Cache and log in good condition. Tftc
Can we fit another one in? Yeah, why not. So many trees that twist and bulge, but which one? Soon found it but geohubby had lost the pen somewhere in the bushes nearby. I signed the log with a bit of charcoal. Time for us to hammer on home.
Tftc, nice 1, fits with the theme. Cant believes such a rainforest type area exists here. Thankd 4 showing me.
Found on a day to "Spring Caching In The Bluies" event with 3MU. Very hot in the bush.
Was in the area for the Spring Cache in the Bluies event - and decided to do a few more caches while I was here. Stinking hot day, and more than once I told myself that I was mad doing this in the heat!
I had just found another hammer one along the road so stopped for this one. Crossed the creek and thought - must be careful that could be slippery..........................
Headed through the bush on a nice path what a fantastic area. Got to close to GZ and started to look. This was the cache that drew first blood today.................... as I was leaning over to investigate something my foot slipped, reached for a nearby sapling to try to keep balance.... nope "a over t" but the sapling broke my fall............................ it wasn't there anyway! ................... looked in a likely spot and soon had CIH.
Great camo again.......................... walked back to the creek (remember the rocks I that I said "I should be careful"??) .................... thankfully I had one foot well stable because the other one slid, & that would not have been a pleasant drop!

Found on a day to "Spring Caching In The Bluies" event with Hillster.
A very warm & humid day to be stomping round the bush.
Really nailed this one, eventually, GPS was jumping round alot.

Nice easy walk to GZ after crossing the creek. After a bit of a search I soon found the cache.
When my Garmin led me to the wrong place (a large boulder), I checked the ground for a likely direction and then expanded the search and made the find. TFTC.
TFTC! Been having some issues with my phone's GPS being a bit out but very quickly had the cache in hand =)
Morebierplease and i chased this bad boy down as our first 1/3 of the hammer trilogy. Night Find. TFTC
WE finally got around to finishing this series of caches. An easy find in a lovely patch of bush. TFTC
2nd find of the morning but took a little while longer as GPS seemed to be pointing me about 10m away. Trusted my caching instinct and made the find... TFTC.

A very short ride down the road and we had to park our bikes and head off into the bush again. Oh dear we thought, "another bush micro" - come on. But it was a cut above the normal micro thankfully and we were starting to get the hammer theme by this point. Nice one.
I walked across the little disappearing waterfall, and had a wet walk up to GZ. In the end an easy find, thanks.
This cache was located nice and quick but look out for those huge...

Thought I'd duck out and do some quick caches before the end of the year.
Continued on from 'Where's the hammer' and quickly made this find at 1650.

It was Toriaz's idea to find this cache today. She thought there might be a souvenir involved in it, given that the date makes a funny pattern, although I didn't have the heart to point out to her that the yanks, who kind of invented this game, have their dating system written all around the wrong way.
We parked the car and then realised we had to cross the creek. We needed to find an easy may across, since Toriaz was in her work clothes: high heels and a tight dress that made her wiggle like a cocktail waitress.
We descended into the creek, crossed some bedrock and made it up the other side. It wasn't far to the cache, so I led the way, bush bashing a little while Toriaz grappled with vines and sticks that seemed intent on snagging her stockings.
The cache was found easily. An appropriate sister cache, I thought, to the one up the road.
Toriaz had a bleeding forehead by the time we got back to the car. She said a sharp branch had caught her on the way back. The whole thing was so traumatic, we went to McDonalds. Thanks

Feeling absolutely shattered! I thought this cache was called 'Hammer Time', and it's only now that I'm at home logging that I've realised my mistake.
I spent weeks going through boxes of old clothes to find my Hammer Pants, just to wear them to this cache. Finally managed to find them, and discovered they still fitted after all these years. Of course, I fill out those baggy legs a little more than I used to, but I was still a vision of 80s style as I stumbled through the bush (oh yeah, we didn't notice the track & did a bush bash), my hammer pants catching on the shrubs as I did a hammer dance, calling out 'U Can't Touch This' every few steps ...
So it turns out I needn't have made the effort. This wasn't a tribute cache to the great MC Hammer after all .
But we did find the cache. And I did have blood pouring down my forehead by the time we got back to the car. Bikerbuddy is adding a picture to his log.

After a bit of a break from caching headed out again as a family this afternoon. We love this little section of bush and have a cache hidden nearby as well. TFTC. The boys loved getting out and climbing over some of the nearby rocks.
It was an easy find on such a wet and damp afternoon. Thank you for hiding the cache.
Needed to do this cache today so while at the bank down at Blaxland I ventured over to it. I realised since it was disabled I couldn't get the co-ordinates. Also had no connection via optus. Went up the road and still no reception. I just went to the CO's place and he kindly escorted me down after we noted the co-ords. My GPSr was pointing in the wrong direction. Must of been the trees. Eventually I understood the clue and made the find. I forgot my pen so another trip back to thecar was invovled. TFTC.
Sorry, I hadn't noticed this one was disabled!?!
I crossed at the waterhole and made my way to GZ where after a long search I found the cache. Very clever.
