Another of the awesome Rail series. Very early when I visited, so all quiet. A nice easy spot to pull over while towing a 22 foot caravanWent straight to it, see fellow catchers Trayc.G & Ggev have already called here a couple of years ago.Great sunny day for geocaching & glamping
Beautiful spring afternoon off I had today. This one came up as a cache on the turn off to where I wanted to knock off a Lonely Cache Power Trail. Everything good here, nice big cache with room for swag, hint helpful. Thanks as always too, for the rail history lesson. I always appreciate it as I live next to the tracks of the main trunk line Mihi ki a koe, the Seagnoid, mo te keteroki #442
Nice quick one while heading north. Was almost out of reach. Current goal progress 18/100 days
Decide to head north today to get away from the miserable Wellington weather. Most of the day was reasonably warm, but occasional rain and strong winds. On the whole the containers were great (2 or 3 inside each other) with dry logs, but the locations were mostly "throw me down" locations with very poor parking (if any) and lots of lunatics in this area driving down side roads at 100km/h+ speeds. Had just logged the cache when a dodgy guy appeared out of a car parked on the other side and he asked me what I was doing. I explained I was doing a treasure hunt and then he asked to use my phone, whereupon I made a quick exit. T4TC
On the way home from a mates place, I decided to get some caches on the way home. The first one to get on a nice clear day, cache nice and dry.TFTC cheers ZL2SGA
On my way home from Welly on a little geo adventure on the way back to Rotorua. Thanks for this one.
The current challenge for the wheel of challenges is to find 100 caches during the month of April. So today I am out with TrinityNZ and JustlookingOO to get as many smileys as possible.
A quick find here today thanks to a good hint. TNZ and JL had already found this one so I got to go-it on my lonesome.
Thanks for the cache, and another smiley.

On a geocaching adventure this fine ANZAC Day with LL113 and JustlookingOO, north of Foxton.
As we pulled up at GZ, JLOO said ‘this looks familiar’. Turns out this is one that I’d completed with her and matagouri a couple of weeks ago, but I’d forgotten to log. LL113 made a quick find while we waited in the car.
Thanks to the Seagnoid for another rail cache

Today TrinityNZ, Just_looking00, and I gathered in Foxton early in the morning to launch an assault on the Chewy Mint trail, the KAS trail, and assorted others that we happened across. Our aim for the day was 30 (absolute minimum), preferably 50. Our total for the day was 53, so more than satisfactory. We signed all logs as JMT. Most of the caches were easily found, some were a little rusty, some had wet logs. Where we could, we replaced any dodgy logs.
Found after a short hunt by JL, though if I'd stayed looking where I thought it was, we'd have been there a lot longer! All good, tftc!

Chasing volume of caches found in a day with TrinityNZ and matagouri - this small series perfect for that. Team name "JMT" was used in log.

I had planned on caching in the Wairarapa this weekend but last minute accommodation problems left me with 2 choices, sleeping in my rental on the side of the road somewhere or going up the west coast instead. Palmerston North was also booked out so Friday morning I found somewhere just out of Wanganui. My evening flight to Wellington got nearly to Blenheim before we did a uturn and went back to Nelson. There was a light on the pilots dashboard that shouldn't have been on. They assured us not to worry, there would be another plane waiting for us on the tarmac back in Nelson. That wasn't to be and I was put on a flight this morning instead. A lot of precious caching time wasted. I decided to stick with my original plan just shortened so my target is caches that are more than 2km from their closest neighbour for a challenge. This was the first on my list. Nice quick find thanks the Seagnoid

Quick find, could be a skindo in a location like this. Great story about the inception of the township Cheers the Seagnoid
Easy find, another in this series completed. No problem find the cache, signing and returning as found.
A quick park and grab on the way home from our Wellington trip. I enjoyed reading the write up. Thanks the Seagnoid.
I thought I had caches on the southbound side of the road so I wouldn't have to cross over. Some turned out to be on the other side. Most I had to skip, but this one I turned around and got without crossing the road. TFTC.
Up from Southland with muggly hubby to revisit some old haunts and discover new places. Taking a leisurely trip and the caching goal is to complete PWGT2.
This is Day 1 on the road. Aiming for Mangaweka.
Stopped to reminisce about the sheepskin shop, noticed the hall them looked, and yes, a cache.
Quick find behind the weeds.
Thanks for the cache the Seagnoid

Cache in good condition. Easy park and grab. Thanks to the CO. Found on a fine day while heading to the ferry.
Heading north, just got free of crazy traffic so might be time to find a cache and stretch the legs. There's a hall - love hall caches - I'm sure there will be one there. Sure enough. Another celebration of a local hall. TFTC.
Nothing like a cache trail to make this drive go so much slower. I've passed a house being transported in 2 pieces, 2 sheds also being transported and a cop today and I've only got this far!
On our way back home after a weekend attending a meeting in Levin. Heading back to Marton for the night with the aim of picking up as many of the caches on Highway 1, on the left hand side, as we could. We checked a few places before Mr S found this one. Interesting history.
Thanks the Seagnoid.
Thanks the Seagnoid.
Headed out for the evening for some caching. Collecting a few more of this rail series. Probably took a big longer as it was dark but at least no muggles around. Thanks
Thanks the Seagnoid for placing this cache
I found this one back in April 2019 but had forgotten to log it... as I was passing by today decided to doublecheck and am happy to confirm it's still there and in great condition in this sheltered spot.

You just can't beat this Manawatu rail series! It's great! Our geocaching adventures got started with our first find at Manawatu rail: Makerua. Now this is number 406 for us. Thanks.
A detailed and interesting set of information. Quickly located the cache. Thank you.
A planned geocaching trip with specific targets in mind.
1: The final 2 caches to fill my D/T grid
2: The last 5 caches available (all in the South Island) to meet the NZ Jasmer challenge GC4R9Z6
3: Get as many caches as possible in a day (Solo)
I had no timetable and only a vague route (Christchurch - Dunedin- Invercargill). So after 20 days of sleeping in my tent/car I arrived home having traveled 4500km and visited some interesting places. Met some great people. I had found over 650 caches. That was a lot of park. Jump out out. Find cache sign and return. Then on to the next. All this done by myself. Also attended an event and had 2 FTF
Mission 1 and 2 were achieved and I had a best day of 153 caches. All this done by myself.
Day 20 Wellington to Hamilton. The last day. 12 caches collected. Took the TB from the cache. Thank you for the placement

Today was a numbers run for us. Lots of caches to choose from in this area so we did all but 2 of the KAS series, the mint tin series and some railway ones. 98 caches found in total and 2 DNF's something tells me we are going to have to go out again to find 2 more today. Many thanks to all the CO's of the caches we visited today, hugely appreciated and certainly love the quiet roads after Auckland.
I stopped by this location on my way North this morning. I thought about it before I left home (in the Hutt Valley) and decided that I only had time for one cache along the way. This was the one I chose.
It was drizzly on the way up but by the time I got here it was dry and the sun looked like it would come out soon. As I was under a bit of time pressure I used the hint and soon found the cache. It is in good condition. All nice and dry.
I swapped TBs here.
Thank you

Day 3/9 of our New Years trip up to the North Island. This was find #95/100 for the day and #164/526 of our trip.
Today was a numbers run of mostly PnG caches. We started in Palmy and set off to see if we could Spell, then headed up to Bulls and after that rounded up a few Smurfs, Herbs, Airplanes, Railway stations and anything else along the way until we came in to finish the KAS trail we started in Oct 2016. An easy find here and one that Mum could reach. We also left our new signature item, a Rainbow Beadtail. Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this series for all of us to enjoy.

Today was part two of my road trip home to Nelson from Auckland, after picking up my son's "new" car from Napier, taking me from Taihape to Wellington... with time to find a few caches along the way, of course. No problems here. TFTC, Biggles.
Catching up on some logs. A quick find while passing by. All safe and dry here. TFTC
Found on the way home after attending the Wellington Mega event. A nice quick find for us today with no one around, and we also appreciated how clean this cache was. TFTC! We hope to pick up more of the series in future.
Found on our way home to Tauranga after attending Wellington's Mega Event. Great to find such a clean/tidy & well presented cache, thank you Seagnoid.

Heading to Wellington Mega a day earlier with Squirrel Nutcase and NZ Flossy a day earlier.
Out to collect caches that we have previously passed.
So sorry cache owners, we had a fairly large find today so it's a copy and paste day.
Thanks everyone for their cache placements that we found. SLTFTC

WENZ Mega Weekend is almost here... Motoring south today with Gap (of Fap and Gap), and NZFlossy. Our intention is to cache our way to our accommodation in Lower Hutt... The big news of the day is that Highway 1 is closed at Pukerua Bay. A truck crash and chemical spill have shut down all lanes coming to and from Wellington. We have plenty of caches to find to keep us occupied, but this could be a long wait...
Friday: I have been looking forward to this next collection of caches; a sweep south from Sanson, along Highway 1. I am mostly looking forward to the historic railway caches in the Manawatu Rail series... A pleasant pause and an opportunity to search for a cache that is not directly roadside. Thanks for the historical notes... TFTC.

On my way to the mega with Squirrel Nutcase and Fap and Gap. Having lots of fun and enjoying the ride and the scenery. It’s what I love about caching - great company and visiting great places. Thanks to all the COs for all their caches Hopefully we see some of them at the mega this weekend TFTC
My bag, jacket, and food have been stolen the day before from the car, but thanks to Popmac I had batteries and some cache to keep myself busy until the flight in the evening. So that's what I did! I decided to find as many as possible with the petrol I had and driving without the driver side window. It did rain and hail some in the morning, but then it cleared up and it was all good except the wind! Thanks for all the caches along the way that helped me keep my sanity TFTC!!
I took a day off work to do some geocaching up in the Rangitikei area. Mostly to bulk out my numbers for the Hidden Creatures, but to also finish qualifying for a couple of challenge caches, plus a few other geocaching tasks. All good here. Left the pathtags for other cachers. TFTC
Maintenance run. This hide has always deserved a bigger cache, so now a bigger cache it has.
Found today with TwigNZ on our way to the KAS power trail, TFTC The Seagnoid.
My son and I have been trying to get around to doing the KAS trail for quite some time now, ever since we finished getting through the nearby Chewy Mint trail.
The Planetary Pursuits event currently running, and an available free day with my son over the Easter weekend, seemed like the perfect excuse to finally hit it!
So I planned a route that also took into account some other nearby caches, such as this one, making a grand total of 84 caches to be attempted today, curious to know if we could absolutely blast our previous record (40) for the number of finds for a day. As it turned out, we had just 5 DNF's, so it was a tremendous result that propelled us almost all the way to Pluto in 1 day! I now have a very tired, but happy lad.
I apologise for the generic 'cut n paste' style of my log, but with 79 to do tonight I figured it was the only way.
This was a straightforward find. The cache and logbook are a bit damp but otherwise are fine.
Having just had my first placement muggled a couple of weeks ago, I am very much in appreciation of all CO's who place and maintain caches for the rest of us to find. Thanks for all your efforts.

Plan A had had us going back to Lower Hutt via Palmerston North - so we had no caches in the system for this area. We stopped for lunch at a café and looked for caches near by. This was 20m away. We recorded the coordinates for this and the next along the track and had a quick find of this one after lunch. The container was wet inside, but the log was dry in its bag. We dried the container and replaced the cache as found.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I had some spare time while in town visiting some of the rellies, so I thought Id do a few of the easy drivebys in the area. I had a great day and grabbed a heap of caches. Lots of damp and wet caches, but not surprising given the weather. I did find some that had been replaced, but found the original nearby. Signed one or the other depending on which I found first. Thanks to all the CO's for a great day and apologies for the generic log.
A journey from Kapiti to Whangarei was an ideal time to stop here and there and seek out some caches whenever the opportunity presented itself. Some of the caches were a bit of a challenge. I was accompanied by team geocacher Mr. T and we saw some beautiful scenery so it was an enjoyable trip. Thank you for placing this cache and for taking the trouble to maintain it.
Hi there the Seagnoid - we left Wanganui this morning headed to Wellington. SWMBO did all the hunting today while I wrote the found caches down. SL and replaced. The container and log are in good condition. Thanks to the Seagnoid for this cache - our find #5293
A nice quick find, Cheers.
Driving from Petone ot Whanganui today. There was some stange stuff early on in the day. I beleive it is called "rain". Its been a while since we have seen much of this.!

Picked up while passing. Cache log wet but just dry enough to sign. Recommend CO replace log. TNLNSL, TFTC.
A quick find on the way up from Wellington to Murupara. Log too wet to write on and unfortunately had no replacement log with me. Hopefully the owner or the next finder can replace it.
"Guinea Gal" geocoin was not in the cache - yet another example of inventory not matching online details, seems particularly bad lately and it really isn't that hard to log picking up a TB I would have thought.

#3797. I had the day off work so decided I needed another road trip to wrap up a very busy month (of geocaching). I am working on the DGSC challenge and foolishly decided to go for the bulk find elective which needs 1500+ cache finds in the year. But one month needed 300+ finds and I was close enough to that target in March so went for it today to get the remaining 61 caches I needed. So headed north to the tropics. Parked by the hall and had a read of the history of this area in the cache description. The hint was very helpful and I found the cache in the third place checked. Signed and returned where found. A bit damp in the container which was surprising but still OK. Thanks for the cache.
Returning home once again and I realised I had yet to pick up a cache for today. Also had the Guinea Gal Geocoin to drop off so I sought out one of the trusty old Manawatu rail series as they normally have big enough containers for bugs.
This one was easily found with GPS and hint working perfectly together. The log book however is rather damp even though the inner container was dry. Still able to write on it but it will need attention soon.
Cheers.

In the Manawatu for the weekend with some caching buddies- Uncle Sam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane, HeMaLuDy. The goal was to find as many of the caches in the area as we could in the space of a day, and we all had a blast jumping in and out of the cars, racing each other to the caches, and laughing and joking along the way, and in we general had an awesome weekend down here.
After a while we started playing "musical cars"- and would race each other back to the cars in order to vie for prime position.... or just to pip someone else at the post..... it was rather hilarious, mainly because of the creative ways of piling into cars or sneaking in just before someone else when you knew they were aiming for that seat. One or two people may have accidently (or not so accidentally) have got sat on!!!!!
At this cache, I originally went for the wrong foundation post, while the others headed off in the correct direction. Turns out that it helps if you look at the correct way to go on your device before beginning the hunt.... whoops. Anyway, cache found, and I dropped "Attache Moi" TB.
Log signed as Team SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) in order to save log space.

Our team from Auckland wanted to do a major day of caching, so headed down to Foxton area for a massive day. We got about 205.
Very sorry for the generic logs, but when doing so many in one day very hard to make notes on each.
But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.

Another quick cache find for the SEAC team while down in the Manawatu caching for the weekend. Was a crazy weekend, but had a blast squashed into a car and driving around the district collecting caches. we laughed, we cried, we drove away from irate locals and ate heaps of junk food (although the kebabs in Bulls were awesome!)Thanks to all the cache owners for their fabulous caches. TFTC!
We were down from Auckland for the weekend to tackle a number of the power trails in the area - the goal for the weekend was to increase our numbers and we achieved 140 caches today. A nice quick find here. Logged as team SEAC to save room on the logs - today we were with darthcacher1, purply, newlynfam, stik-a-crane, NZTravellers, UncleSamNZ.
Thanks for the research about the history on the lines - very interesting reading. The traffic was really building up on SH1 now as people are returning home after the holiday weekend. A quaint old hall here. TFTC #9471
Having a ball, finding lotsa caches. Thanks. And thanks for all the info about the railway. Most interesting.
Sanson Day2.
After finishing the KAZ trail, we continued onto the mint tin series. This was liking a tiki tour of the area around the farming country side.
We continued onto Foxton where we had lunch by the seaside.
Thanks for placing this cache the Seagnoid
