Another of the awesome Rail series. Very early when I visited, so all quiet. Decide to head north today to get away from the miserable Wellington weather. Most of the day was reasonably warm, but occasional rain and strong winds. On the whole the containers were great (2 or 3 inside each other) with dry logs, but the locations were mostly "throw me down" locations with very poor parking (if any) and lots of lunatics in this area driving down side roads at 100km/h+ speeds. Found a hue bunch of cables / connectors all open right next to the cache location. Quick and easy find. T4TC
Heading northwards for a few days. This was the first cache of five I found along the route today. A reasonably quick find. #7709. TFTC.
Found with the Seagnoid and EtherDad while completing this loop of caches after this morning's Winter Warmer event. We were passing this one on the way to do do maintenance down the road, so was happy when Dad offered to stop for me to claim the smiley
On the way home from a mates place, I decided to get some caches on the way home. The third one was DNF, but this was good number 4 to get on a nice clear day, cache nice and dry. Well maintained.TFTC cheers ZL2SGA
Off for a weekend away in Mangaweka on our 38th wedding anniversary. 3rd cache of the day and 2nd find. TFTC.
This month's Icon challenge requires players to find 8 different cache types, including an Earth Cache - except my nearest unfound EC is beside Ohakea.
SkyCraneKid (fka EtherMaster) and I are heading to GZ, stopping at a few other GZs along the way
This was one of them.
An easy find and retrieve from its wedged location. The inner container has a hole in the lid, but the waterproof paper means that the logbook is all good.
(Actually, there was no moisture in the inner or outer container at all)
Another down in the series, still many more to go...
Thanks for the the research and effort that went into this series. I learn something new with each additional find!

The current challenge for the wheel of challenges is to find 100 caches during the month of April. So today I am out with TrinityNZ and JustlookingOO to get as many smileys as possible. (All logs signed today as JLT).
A quick find here today. Thanks for the cache, and another smiley.

Out and about with LL113 and TrinityNZ to make sure we all earned the Wheel of Challenges souvenir for finding 100 caches in April. Signed log as "JLT". Mobile coords swinging but still a quick easy find by LL113.

Up north of Foxton way with JustlookingOO and LL113, in honour of the 100 smileys in April challenge.
LL113 found this one in a very windy spot. So windy the cache almost blew away.
Thanks to the Seagnoid for this Manawatu rail cache

Out and about with Talla64 on a very nice sunny Autumn day. Another one of this series ticked off. I think I might be coming to the end of them now. Thanks the Seagnoid for the history and the cache.
Out on a caching trip with Flowerydaze taking in the area from Foxton to Tangimoana and Sanson. The day started a bit wet at first but as the day wore on it also brightened. Another one in this series ticked off, thanks the Seagnoid.
Haven’t seen an old film canister for awhile- Mr snake won’t fit will have to move onto the next one .
I've found a few of this series over the years as I worked in the area or just passing through. Time to tick another few off today. This one took longer than it should - finally found it tucked away in the logical place. TFTC # 18,629
Would have been good if this one wasnt right in full view of everyone passing by! Felt pretty obvious! TFTC
I needed a break from a long drive so I thought I'd stop and find a cache. That's how I came to be looking for this one. A nice quick find here between the rain showers. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this geocache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC
Lots of rubbish here including numerous uneaten cooked chicken drumsticks! Signed log and replaced where found. TFTC.
The heat must be getting to me now! I walked past this three times going up and down the fence line.
This cache took way longer than it really needed to haha.
TFTC the Seagnoid!

Day 1 of my week long road trip of geocaching, camping and seeing a few bands. Today I left Wellington mid morning and battled the SH1 traffic most of the way, caching as I headed for Wanganui. For the fist time I am using the cachetur.no website and app to plan out my caching, and so far I am liking it.
No problems here, TFTC.

On our way back home after a weekend attending a meeting in Levin. Heading back to Marton for the night with the aim of picking up as many of the caches on Highway 1, on the left hand side, as we could. Mrs S wasn't having any luck so Mr S came to help and his sharp eyes soon spotted this one.
Thanks the Seagnoid for another smilie on the road north.

Headed out for the evening for some caching. Collecting a few more of this rail series. Quickly getting dark as the sunsets but no problems finding this one. Thanks

Suspect it might be missing. Only fence posts here, and nowhere to hide anything but a micro.
Fossicking helps. Nice cache, thank you. Took nothing. Inner container lost its lid...
Found on my trip north enjoying the caches in the area. Weather not so good today

The growth on the road side is quite high...after getting through this the well placed cache was soon found and signed thanks Seagnoid
Wow this highway is busy today. Managed to cross safely but... Thanks for bringing us here The Seagnoid
Today was a numbers run for us. Lots of caches to choose from in this area so we did all but 2 of the KAS series, the mint tin series and some railway ones. 98 caches found in total and 2 DNF's something tells me we are going to have to go out again to find 2 more today. Many thanks to all the CO's of the caches we visited today, hugely appreciated and certainly love the quiet roads after Auckland.
Today was part two of my road trip home to Nelson from Auckland, after picking up my son's "new" car from Napier, taking me from Taihape to Wellington... with time to find a few caches along the way, of course. TFTC, Biggles.
Mr LF was muggled by a herd of cows - not for the first time either, and we guess it won't be the last! Many thanks for the placement.
Heading to Wellington Mega a day earlier with Squirrel Nutcase and NZ Flossy a day earlier.
Out to collect caches that we have previously passed.
So sorry cache owners, we had a fairly large find today so it's a copy and paste day.
Thanks everyone for their cache placements that we found. SLTFTC

WENZ Mega Weekend is almost here... Motoring south today with Gap (of Fap and Gap), and NZFlossy. Our intention is to cache our way to our accommodation in Lower Hutt... The big news of the day is that Highway 1 is closed at Pukerua Bay. A truck crash and chemical spill have shut down all lanes coming to and from Wellington. We have plenty of caches to find to keep us occupied, but this could be a long wait...
Friday: I have been looking forward to this next collection of caches; a sweep south from Sanson, along Highway 1. I am mostly looking forward to the historic railway caches in the Manawatu Rail series... An interesting historical reference noted in the description. TFTC.

On my way to the mega with Squirrel Nutcase and Fap and Gap. Having lots of fun and enjoying the ride and the scenery. It’s what I love about caching - great company and visiting great places. Thanks to all the COs for all their caches Hopefully we see some of them at the mega this weekend TFTC
I have set myself a goal to get the requirements for the mystery cache The well-rounded cacher challenge (Manawatu) This requires me to get 25 badges 5 of which need to be gemstone badges. So each time I now go out caching weather it is by myself or with fellow cacher I will try to get a least one cache that will get help me closer to my goal
Out today filling in a missing dot on my calendar matrix
The cache was very easy to find due to the fact that both sides of the fence had been mowed and was very easy to spot the cache itself is intact and unharmed
Thanks for the cache

My bag, jacket, and food have been stolen the day before from the car, but thanks to Popmac I had batteries and some cache to keep myself busy until the flight in the evening. So that's what I did! I decided to find as many as possible with the petrol I had and driving without the driver side window. It did rain and hail some in the morning, but then it cleared up and it was all good except the wind! Thanks for all the caches along the way that helped me keep my sanity TFTC!!
I took a day off work to do some geocaching up in the Rangitikei area. Mostly to bulk out my numbers for the Hidden Creatures, but to also finish qualifying for a couple of challenge caches, plus a few other geocaching tasks. All good here. TFTC
Maintenance run. This cache looks like it has been stepped on by a cow. Installed a whole new cache.
Found today with TwigNZ on our way to the KAS power trail, TFTC The Seagnoid.
My son and I have been trying to get around to doing the KAS trail for quite some time now, ever since we finished getting through the nearby Chewy Mint trail.
The Planetary Pursuits event currently running, and an available free day with my son over the Easter weekend, seemed like the perfect excuse to finally hit it!
So I planned a route that also took into account some other nearby caches, such as this one, making a grand total of 84 caches to be attempted today, curious to know if we could absolutely blast our previous record (40) for the number of finds for a day. As it turned out, we had just 5 DNF's, so it was a tremendous result that propelled us almost all the way to Pluto in 1 day! I now have a very tired, but happy lad.
I apologise for the generic 'cut n paste' style of my log, but with 79 to do tonight I figured it was the only way.
This was a straightforward find, although all we could find was a very sorry looking container, badly damaged and without a lid, logbook or anything else. I have taken a photo to prove the find.
Having just had my first placement muggled a couple of weeks ago, I am very much in appreciation of all CO's who place and maintain caches for the rest of us to find. Thanks for all your efforts.

What a cool idea for a cache series, I am interested to see that you have started a similar series on that other island - - - which I will be chasing up in the near future. Another sneak round the corner, head for the hide here. TFTC .
#3801. I had the day off work so decided I needed another road trip to wrap up a very busy month (of geocaching). I am working on the DGSC challenge and foolishly decided to go for the bulk find elective which needs 1500+ cache finds in the year. But one month needed 300+ finds and I was close enough to that target in March so went for it today to get the remaining 61 caches I needed. So headed north to the tropics. Another one in the rail series. Must be making some headway in getting through these now. I had searched along a lot of the hint objects and hadn't had any success. Luckily I looked out into the paddock and noticed a small container. Could it be a cache? Yes indeed. Managed to reach through and just grab it. Signed and returned to a spot matching the hint. Thanks for the cache and the interesting history lesson. Poor old Mr Scandlyn.
Thanks for the cache. This is our find number 666 and we found it at 11:56:35 AM NZDT on 24 February 2017 on our way to Auckland to see Brice Springsteem
Called in to this cache on 24 Feb and thought, this looks fimilar. Opened the log book to find I had already been here just on a month ago and not logged it electronically.
Cheers.
Cheers.
In the Manawatu area today a group of us makeing 200 finds today....actual total was 206.... so thanks to the CO's for hiding the caches.....
Loved another lesson on the local rail system.
Signed in as SEAC to save logbook space as there was a group of us.

In the Manawatu for the weekend with some caching buddies- Uncle Sam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane. The goal was to find as many of the local caches that we could in the space of a day. We managed to find 206, I think, in the space of 14 hours, with a few bathroom/ coffee breaks and a couple of meal breaks. We all had a blast jumping in and out of the car, racing each other to the caches, and laughing and joking along the way, and in general had an awesome weekend down here.
We picked up a few of the Manawatu rail caches while on the KAS trail, as they were all nice and close. This was one of them.
Apologies for the generic logs.... with over 200 caches found in one day, it was virtually impossible to remember each individual cache!
Log signed as Team SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) in order to save log space.

Our team from Auckland wanted to do a major day of caching, so headed down to Foxton area for a massive day. We got about 205.
Very sorry for the generic logs, but when doing so many in one day very hard to make notes on each.
But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.

A group of crazy cachers from Auckland decided to spend a frantic weekend in the area collecting nearby cache series to seriously increase the cache numbers. 5 adults squashed in a car had heaps of fun and lots of laughs. Everything was in good order here, Thank you for the cache!
It is all shiny and new and I am first to sign the new log book. Thanks for cache.
Replace with new log. Or did I replace the whole container? Can't remember now. Anyway, it is all shiney and ready to again!
Heading towards the Mega. Thought it would be impolite not to grab a few on the way through. Thanks all for the hides.
Was down in Wellington for a few days, and decided that I'd make an extra long weekend of it and transfer a rental car back to Auckland and cache along the way. Unfortunately for the rental agency that ment nearly tripling the km's they thought I'd put on it!
With the rental car company only giving me 48 hours to get the car to Auckland a little bit of planing was needed to maximise what I wanted to accomplish, and with only a few DNF's it turned out to be a very successful trip. So a big thanks to everyone who had placed caches along the way, and for showing me some great sight's along the way.
Day 1: Foxton through to Bulls.
All good here, thanks for the hide.

#1705 As i was picked up just after 4am to head to the Manawatu I realised this was not going to be a dot day. This was an attempt to get 270 caches in one day. There are a couple of great circuits in the Manawatu that will help work toward this goal so thanks to the CO's that have placed them for our enjoyment.
Thanks also to my partner in geo crime and driver for the day Yetrees. Without an able driver an attempt such as this would be impracticable so thanks for enabling it.
Thanks to all the CO's for their contribution to my smilie tally.
It is forecast to be a long day geocaching, hoping to make the 270 target. To be honest I'd be pretty happy with 200, however why not go for the Emerald badge (see project-gc.com)

I've stayed my 4 nights in Paraparaumu and today I'm heading home to Auckland via a whole heap of caches. Completed the KAS power trail today, now several more caches before heading home.
No worries here today, I did have to watch the traffic coming up so I could move back in to the flow though.

#10443. Travelling North meant that the rail caches were on our side of the road (the parking was better when the cache was North of the cross roads; not the case here). TFTC.
Traffic was building up so had to take care both parking and getting back into the traffic again.

After spending an hour or so, rummaging through very long grass, I decided to use logic as our gps was sending us around in circles
Found it just as I was about to give up. It's actually relatively easy to find apart from the thistle growing proudly on top of it.
As this was our first cache, (which probably is why it took so long) I am really excited to find more now.
Signed the logbook. Tftc

Second of The Seagnoid's station series in succession. I enjoy the history described in these cache notes.
Pulled up and crossed once more.
Followed compass to GZ and there was indeed a prize waiting there.
Signing completed and a [8] left behind, Jessefly said cache was in good nick , log also.
