Was hoping to cross the dam wall and continue onwards but the wasn't possible but nice to get this cache anyway. Thanks Fergzter

28-Mar-24
Maybe I got one of the answers wrong but I spent a couple of minutes crawling around and fighting the scrub in the wrong spot but in the back of my mind thinking about the hint. Took a couple of deep breaths and wandered from the scrub when I saw the Geologists Dream . Spotted some geo camo and made the find!! TFTC!!

Found with FeatherWaite on a 4-day trip to Victoria. From Adelaide. Our main aim was to complete the Ballarat Geotour and other caches of interest in the broader Ballarat area. There were also a number of events and a CITO to attend. The weather was on the warm side, but not too bad for this time of year, which made for pleasant camping each night. The cache was found in good order. Thanks Fergzter for the cache.

17-Feb-24
Found during an extended weekend in the Ballarat area with e.gregory1, with the main aim of completing the Ballarat GeoTour, but taking the opportunity to attend a number of events and CITOs, and searching for a good range of caches while touring around the district. Thanks for the cache Fergzter!

10-Jan-24
Found with dad after him just giving me the GZ. Then again, I gave him 2 GZ's for free so he can complete the geotour. TFTC Fergzter

10-Jan-24
Welfare check. All is well with this cache. It's amazing that we are in the first container still after all these years. Will replace log on our next visit. Good to go.

09-Sep-23
I completed this multi with Sol De Lune and Beaanbead whilst at a nearby event. The plaque was quickly located and coordinates for the GZ figured out. We took the difficult way in bashing through shrubs and found the cache quickly. On the way out we found a much clearer path. TFTC

09-Sep-23
got this cache with sol de lune and nelzerama. let them do the thinking for this one and collected this after some much needed bush bashing

09-Sep-23
After sampling the breaky offerings at the event, beaanhead, Nelzarama and I headed over for this this one. Plaque found and GZ was soon calculated. As is usually the case, we then took the hard way in before finding the cache without issue. The easier way out was then taken and were soon heading back to the event.

Thanks for the multi Fergzter...cache all good.

24-Jun-23
Quick find in such a lovely place.
Thanks for the cache

Out for an afternoon drive with Mrs JTreeTrack2 to get out of Ballarat and get some air. Let's head out to Lal Lal I said. So we did, believe it or not there are some caches out there. So hunt them I did. Some found some not, today was not a patient day.

This was solved, signed and secured for the next seeker.

Thanks for the cache Fergzter

Came this way to look at Lal Lal waterfall after the rains. Then wanted to see the dam wall Thanks

29-Apr-22
We received a call from Sims_family asking if we would like to go out with them to join them when they made their 6,000th find.

The 6000 find had been done and dusted ad we stayed in the area to find a few more caches.

After collecting the information and calculating GZ we made our way to the spot.

We often find that we take the hard way into a cache and the easy way out, this was another instance of that phenomenon.

We found the cache in great condition. Thank you for this cache Fergzter.

12-Apr-22
I dropped down the hill to the plaque. No one about today and the Bush dry after a month without rain.
Did the calculation and off to gz
All good with your cache.
Thanks fergzter

09-Oct-21
After a CITO this morning and a stroll around the Union Jack Reserve, I came out to Lal Lal for an earthcache, while here I collected a few caches in the area, this was one of them.
Thanks Fergzter for the hide and considering my passion in geocaching I appreciated the hint.

12-Sep-21
After bush bashing and admittedly not reading the hint, we had to return to check our coordinate accuracy. It was fine, we readjusted ourselves and then it was an easy find. Thanks for this one, it was interesting.

15-Aug-21
The sun was shining, and regional covid restrictions meant we could at least get out past our 5km zone, so we seized the day and headed out to Lal Lal to explore an area neither of us had been to before. Numbers calculated then off to GZ, where the cache was found easily and in excellent condition. It was a lucky muggle-free break because as we made our way back to the geo-truck, another 4 cars arrived with their families to check out the dam. TFTC Fergzter.

A camping and caching trip out towards the Brisbane Ranges, we were not as prepared as usual so freestyle cached our way around. The last day of our trip, we found some caches closer to camp and then started back towards home, grabbing a few more on the way.
We did this cache first in this group, as it was a multi and we weren't sure where it would end up. It didn't really matter in the end, but day1976 found it in good order.

01-Mar-21
A nice simple multi cache, thanks for placing.

After a long year and too much isolation I finally got a chance to travel up to Ballarat to visit a long time mate before Christmas. Decided it was time for an earthcache run along the way, seven in two days oughta do it Wink
All good here today apart from the view, wandered down to what appeared to be a viewing platform but was disappointed with what might have been an overgrown view.
**Thanks for placing this cache Fergzter**

Thanks for the cache. Nice view.

14-Sep-19
Since starting caching my hands and legs constantly have random numbers and coordinates written all over them. Really should learn to bring a notebook along for multis instead of using my skin as the writing pad! Some quick calculations here and a short stroll to GZ and the cache was soon in hand. Tftc

14-Sep-19
I am always dissapointed when I see dam's and reservoirs and realise I can't paddle in them.

They are always blue, still, and surrounded by pines. Perfect places of solitude to paddle in peace. However like other dams, this one was viewed from afar. Still a great location to come by. Glad wasn't towing a caravan down here.

03-Sep-19
On only the third day of Spring Sims_family ventured to Lal Lal and surrounding areas for was a was a lovely day exploring in our magnificent bush land. After we enjoyed a picnic lunch that Sims_family mum had packed for us it was a must for us to learn something about the area and its use in the late 1800's followed by a short walk to take in the Bungal Views.
Mum and Dad worked through the details for the cache to find out GZ while the kids explored a little. Once the coordinates were in hand the kids were quickly on the hunt with Miss 15 making the find.
Thank you Fergzter for the multi and the work gone into it.

Firstly, apologies for the lateness in logging.
Despite my tardiness, you can be assured I enjoyed each and every cache found and not found.
Apologies if this is a generic log, my memory is good, but not that good.

On this day I was out with Sorceysal and Tessie the geodog

Thanks Fergzter

Out and about with bogonghazy to clear up some local caches, well almost local. A very interesting sign board. Soon had the required co-ords and made the short walk to GZ. Lovely views here. Thanks for the cache Fergzter

After a night camping nearby, this cache was close for an early morning grab. The info was easily collected and soon we had the little one. A nice view of the dam and thanks for the info.

Found this multi cache such beautiful views around this area

12-May-18
Found It.......On the last day of holidays it was decided to head up this way and pick up some more caches. After a DNF on the previous cache we where determined to get this one. After pulling up at the plaque we worked out the info needed and soon had a set of coords to work with. After a brief stroll i was standing on top o a large stone only to look at my feet to make sure i wasn't going to slip and spotted a suspicious pile of stones and bingo. So with the log signed we continued on our journey. Thanks Fergzter for the cache

Our first ever multi! Quick crash course in following coordinates on a compass led us to the cache and a nice view! Found with dominictaranto

So much fun, a compass helps

More lovely views but marred somewhat by the fencing. I walked to the start of this multi from the picnic ground and after doing my sums and making the find I returned by the historical and informative route TFTC Fergzter

After having a great time at the nearby event we decided to look for this one with Alansee before heading off. When we arrived at wpt 1 we found McAdies and Na'wal already collecting the information so after a hello and a bit of a chat we also collected this info and headed off as a group to gz where Alansee soon had the cache in hand exactly where the GPSr was pointing.
We all added our names to the log while admiring the view from gz. The kids had fun deciding what to swap.
Thanks Fergzter for the cache.

Found during the nearby International Earthcaching 2017 event.
A pleasant stroll past the start and on to the final.
Fantastic views, we could almost see the spot where we did a u-turn on the way here. Wink
Wandered back along the lower 'history' trail, taking photos and reading the signs along the way.
It is hard to imagine the life these pioneers led.
Thanks for bringing us here and highlighting this great area Fergster.
Nice to catch up today too.

After attending the nearby Eathcache Day, and finding Maccamob's historic cache with a group of friends, we continued on, intrepid explores, did a bit of bushbashing, and arrived in time to have my signature added to the log. The geo family had decided to make our way up to the Lal Lal Historic area for a nice picnic and to explore the area. And what a fantastic area it is. So much history here and a great day out. While the event was going we moved off with others to make a few finds in the area. The numbers were taken and we moved off to make a quick find. Stamped and returned as found.

24-Sep-17
Today, Sheppythekid, geobub and myself spent the day in the Lal Lal area grabbing the caches in the area. This is a fantastic area with a great mix of landscape, history and geology to be seen. We had a great day even though it rained of and on with a really strong wind in the exposed areas.

After wandering around the blast furnace we came down and found this cache. It took us a bit longer than it should as i calculated one number incorrect and then approached from the wrong angle (all my fault). Great view from GZ, pity about the fence spoiling a closer view.

Cheers, Fergzter bringing us here and showing us some modern infrastructure.

Was a windy day today was with the Bandit and his Geo daughter worked out the coordinates double checked and log the cache nice and dry and well hidden tftc

13-Aug-17
Spent most of the day on back roads and dirt tracks turning green boxes into smiles.
As I was caching by myself I trusted Siri to get me here from the nearby falls, that was a huge mistake as she took me to the viewing platform on the other side of of the reservoir, getting annoyed I back tracked. It wasn't until I was with 3kms that Siri thought the right way in was the better option. Once the information was gathered I was able to make a quick find and get over my frustration.
Log signed and replaced as found

With a souvenir available for a Multi find, an event at a scenic location and 1000+1500 milestones for my daughter and myself respectively (she had earmarked the nearby Miners Right), it was a no brainer that we travel the almost 1.5hr trip today.
After the event, neisha07, boo09 and I headed of with GemmaSistema+2 and PerpetuallyLost.
Some quick calcs were made and we wandered off to GZ while the kids collected bones... :/
TFTC in a great spot!

After attending the Ducks Unlimited event at the Falls earlier today, Gemma Sistema, becca85, their respective geokids and myself headed to the Bungal Dam to grab the caches in this area. After we quickly worked out the coords together for this one the cache was quickly in hand which was a relief after struggling with the trad in the area just prior. Thx maccamob for the cache. We came here in the company of LionJRB and Snap Happy, after finding the nearby historic traditional cache. In our team, the tasks were soon solved, GZ worked out and the cache found. We enjoyed the opportunity to take in the views of the not-so-full dam, discuss the technical features, wonder how workers can enter the tower and read the information boards. Pity that some people seem to enjoy peeling off parts of the signage.
Thank you for bringing us to this interesting spot, Fergzter!

01-Mar-16
The sun was shining, the day was hot, the area was lovely, we were out to catch a few smiles, and even though other family members have been here, it was my first trip here, so peaceful and without anyone else around it was a lovely quiet day, we made it to the first point, and gathered all the required info, and on we went to GZ, geoson making all kinds of discoveries as we went, including the bones of an animal, enjoyed himself, at GZ the search was on, and we soon had the log in hand, signed and replaced as found. Thanks for bringing us to this area, and TFTC

After exploring the nearby area this morning with Darth Briji, AusFox! and families I continued on my own to parts of this reserve I had never visited before.
It was great to see the dam and read up on its background, before heading to GZ where the cache was located. The simple offset multi was welcome and much appreciated.
Thanks for the cache and for bringing me here, Fergzter.

Found by Mary & David at 1055. Here to do maintenance on our own cache, so couldn't resist going for this one. Only mad dogs and cachers go out in this heat - supposed to hit more than 41C today, and yet we'll be carrying on next to Buninyong for an Event. Really good to be back here and see the improvements, although the access road could do with some TLC. We enjoyed the water views, which at least made us feel ever so slightly cooler. Happily a nice quick find, then back to the aircon in the GeoPrado. Our thanks to Fergzter.

[Green]The weather forecast said it would be a nice day so I headed west of Melbourne with Square Pegs and GAZAC to do a bit of exploring. Along the way we found this cache in amongst some great scenery and good roads. We had a mission getting here with Kathy giving us the wrong directions. So we ignored her and finally got here - what a great location for a cache and pleased to have not given up on this one.

Thanks Fergzter for helping to make this an awesome day.

On a mission today to find 31 Multi-caches to complete a unofficial challenge and to log a recently challenge cache placed in Melbourne's western suburbs. In the company of fine bench of Ballarat caches we set off around 6:30 am and headed in the "general direction of Geelong where we all had plenty of targets to help us reach our goal. After much driving around we had 31 under our belts plush a few others, and we were off to Melbourne to sign the challenge cache. 15 hours later back in Ballarat feeling somewhat tuckered out but satisfied. Smile

After some quick calculations the prize was mine!!!! thanks for the nice views

Out for a days caching with ozbob and after conquering Anakie Exploration and the tunnel it was on to the the Legends Series and then through the forest on our way to Ballarat and this guy was close by so we just had to grab it.
Last time in this area we tried to find this cache was was stopped by locked gates on the other side of the dam, so after reading the CN's we saw the error of our ways so did not make the same mistake.
On arrival we did not waste too much time as the temperature had risen to 32 D but after signing the log and a quick look at the views it was back in the A/C comfort of the Pajero and onto the next.
Thanks Fergzter for bringing us out here.
