Another DNF to add to the others in this series. Is the cache still there?

11-Feb-22
DNF'ed. Spent a while there despite it swarming with mozzies. Lots of DNF's on this one. Is it still being maintained?

12-Jan-22
No luck here today, I can’t blame the rain or anything else, I just lacked inspiration!

08-Dec-21
A second DNF for me today

21-Nov-21
No joy for the tribe here today. The clue made sense for where I was supposed to be but with limited time I moved on after 10 minutes of hunting. Maybe next time?! Too good for me today. Nice cottage though. That was worth the visit!

03-Aug-21
I think I did not sure found broken small container and torn plastic bag and some scraps of paper

02-Sep-20
Searched for ages

02-Sep-20
Took some effort to find the site so it was very disappointing not to find the cache in spite of the joint efforts of our group of 4 cachers.

Way too many mozzies at gz to even stay more than two mins was being eaten alive even through my clothes! I might not be back for this one

Returned to GZ with Mr Gaztek in tow hoping another set of eyes would help.... nope! Cheers... Gaztek

24-Aug-19
Nope, just couldn't see it. And I have a feeling I was staring right at it. Came up from the Fairylands walk - lovely - on a warm late winter weekend afternoon. Proceeded past GZ up to the cottage which is simply dwarfed by the surrounding buildings but happily holding its own. Back to GZ to presumably search every inch. Found an interesting growth around the fence - see photo. And will return. Cheers... Gaztek

Found it used hint and it helped! Nice cottage, shame you can’t park anywhere near it (legally). A bit of a waste barb wire fenced off should use it for something.

Sadly after over an hour we had to abandon all hope. Great little path and a lovely glimpse of the past so thank you for that

Find #: 1,856
Companions: None
Muggles: None
Weather: Warm winter afternoon
Cache condition: Good

My son was attending a birthday party nearby, so I decided to find some caches rather than returning home. I parked in an office's carpark (figuring the risk of my car being clamped was small given I was the only person around on a Saturday) and headed down the path and then around the paths, finding a few other caches before arriving back at this one. I DNF'd it 4 years ago, so was keen to make amends. It took a little while for me to find the container, even with the good hint, as it wasn't quite what I was expecting, so it was a relief to get CIH. TNLNSL, TFTC

We were in the area and had a few minutes to spare, so we thought we would have a quick look. Needed the hint to narrow down the search zone. Fortunately we happened to be looking in the right place at the right time and spotted the cache container. Great little spot. Thank you for placing the cache.

Today we headed over to East Ryde to continue with our short walk and "park & grab" cache hunting, and to collect some solved puzzle caches. This was the 15th of 15 finds for the day.

After an enjoyable day of caching around East Ryde we were now on our way back home, but stopped off for a couple of Traditionals on the way at North Ryde. This was the 2nd of the 2.

Parked the geomobile in the visitors parking area of one of the nearby buildings, well we were "visiting" the cache weren't we?, then headed up the track towards GZ. The GPSr was struggling under the dense foliage, indicating a very poor accuracy of 11 metres, and we spent far too long searching well away from the true GZ. But then we took a look at the hint, which caused us to relocate ourselves to a much more likely location, where it was soon CIH. Signed the log and then replaced as found. TFTC JordsAU, our last for the day.

Found the cache but the fence kept us from looking closely at the cottage. Nice pocket of trees between the office towers. With the rapid development of 'urbe' across every 'suburb', the more 'rus in urbe' the better, I say! TFTC JordsAu

OCW Alephroom to knock over a cache that had defeated us both before. We chanted the holy words and made the pilgrimage to GZ. Alephroom made the find quickly and we both scratched or heads wondering how we had both missed it in the past. TFTC!

Located at 6:31pm. OCW MouldySalsa. This was a satisfying find as MouldySalsa and I have both attempted this cache once before separately without any luck before deciding we needed to tackle it together after work. And as crusaders of the faith, we rounded the crescent pathway to GZ and within thirty seconds I had espied the clandestine little hide and had MouldySalsa sign us off. Can't believe it had defeated us both last time. Many thanks JordsAU, another nicely rated hide. Спасибо. תודה! L’chaim! TFTC!

27-Feb-18
Our last one for the day. And another JordsAU that had us scratching our heads. At first GPS had us in the bamboo, but checking the hint we returned to the path. Saw the old cottage then further searching had us looking exactly as the hint suggests. TFTC

27-Feb-18
Out today with Brewmaker finding some caches around Macquarie Park, East Ryde, and Lane Cove North.
We parked the car nearby and then it was just a short walk towards gz. But we ended up on the wrong side among the bamboo before realising our error. Searched and searched with no luck, and needed a bit of a nudge before finally spotting the little cache hiding there. A tough one to spot. Signed the log and then replaced it all as found. Then it was back to the car and off. TFTC Jords Big Grin

I always feel weird caching in or around these business parks, so I felt a good time to attempt this was between Christmas and New Year.
Parking would be tricky on a work day, as I imagine would muggles.
Fortunately I had no problems with either whist I searched for the path.
Eventually found the way in past the bamboo and made it to the gz.
A great hint led me right to it.

Quick hunt around while hitting up the Sydney office. Nothing... DNF

24-Sep-17
An interesting place for an old and barely visible cottage.

Wandering around here on a weekend, very few people were about making for a nicely relaxed search. As others seem to have done, I initially followed the GPS into the bamboo, which was an interesting but ultimately fruitless exercise. I eventually came to my senses and concentrated my search on a more sensible location. This still took quite a few minutes but eventually a well hidden cache was found. It's attachment has become brittle and fell apart, but I reattached as best I could with what remains. TFTC Smile

I worked in what is now called The Binary Centre a few years ago so it was a trip down memory lane. Back then I had an underground parking spot but today I had to head back to higher ground and think I got lucky. Found a little path and stood scratching my head for a few minutes at GZ. Then I happened to look in the right spot and saw what I was looking for.

Coming through bushland, it was weird to be in an industrial environment so suddenly. After a short search, I could sign the logbook - the container and logbook are in good condition.
Thanks for the hide, JordsAU, and greetings from Switzerland

13-Sep-16
On a morning walk before meetings nearby. An interesting piece of real estate tucked among high rises. Unfortunately the same buildings and the trees made the GPS wobbly and although the hint pointed to a likely location, we were unable to find anything in the short time we had. Thanks for the pointer to a curious bit of local history though.

06-Sep-16
3 poor cottage.. Bit like finding the hide.

29-Aug-16
I was doing the first leg of my Great North Walk hike today and went past this cache on the way out of the park to North Ryde station. My GPSr wanted to push me across the water channel into the bamboo but after reading the hint it didn't take long to locate it.

Many thanks for the hide.

C is visiting W in Sydney, he is working there at the moment.
A good way to celebrate your wedding anniversary is going for a few geocaches, so we took the train to North Ryde.
We started with the answers for the hernia cache, which led us in the direction of this cache.
We walked the trail starting at the bridge.
We took the shortcut through the parking to the cache.
Using the hint narrowed down the possible hiding spots, so it do=idn't take us very long to find the cache.
Thanks for this one.

Thanks to kangadrew72. Put in new log. I'll photo scan previous log and publish in gallery for the CO. Now the next closezt to work..a multi! And a traditional but need to do on weekends without so many muggles.

Fascinating heritage and a good placement.

Log however is full so could use a replacement visit.

TFTC here today and greetings from Melbourne

Hunted around in the dark with no find. Tried all over the Fence opening, all over the fence, around the trees with yellow tags. Back on the geobike into the darkness with no find. Well it is only 60m from our new work location. Looks like some clean up is required here.

24-Apr-16
Today is a good day. The sun had come out and I just lived Happily Ever After. What to do next? More caches of course! This is a good one on a Sunday. Took a few minutes but was easier to spot than the cottage was!

28-Mar-16
Interesting place, if you hadn't told me there was a cottage here I would probably never have spotted it !

A nice area among the high rise glass and steel. My GPSr was all over the place wanting to put me on the other side of the small "stream". I spent sometime looking among the spider webs in my good clothes. Finally a PAF to a previous finder about which side of the "stream" and a few more minutes and soon had it. Its not as difficult as I made out. TNLN, SL. TFTC JordsAU.

The log roll is becoming worse-for-wear and not much room left.

cache find #4406 A great location for a cache. Took a few minutes to find it, but got it eventually. TFT.

TFTC - Jords.
Out this way on a nice quiet Sunday, No one to be seen. Time to grab a few in the area.
What a beautiful historical house.
It was a quick grab.

A quick 'Periscope' and it was on to the next one.

Gotcha! Looked for 20+ minutes on a previous visit. This time just 20 seconds. Turns out I didn't look there before...oops!

Took a little longer than expected but I managed to grab the cache in the end. All I can say is think outside the box. SL No room for swaps or drops. TFTH TFTC. Replaced cache as found. Thanks JordsAU.

Never far away from glass monstrosities around here. Quick find Tftc

16-Sep-15
Parked down the hill and a before work cache that I had time for. This one surprisingly took longer than expected, applying the hint.in the end, I realised I applied it from the wrong side, didn't have much of a look at the cottage but I'm sure she looks great, thanks JordsAU

12-Sep-15
TFTC ... I also made the mistake of looking for something bigger

16-Aug-15
Cool little hide and a nice walk through the parkland to get to it.
Thanks Smile

Fairly straight forward find after hiking up from the cache near the river.

Funny how this one is between the two buildings. Walked straight into a spider web in the process also.

Marine Biologist found the cache for me and we signed before heading off to the next one. Good little hide.

Thanks for the cache!

What a wonderful piece of history hidden so well. Would be so awesome to be able to see it a bit better from GZ but gotta take what you can.

Found with Ali600, who was very surprised she missed it last time! What a random house, interesting. Thanks for bringing me here! The whole process was observed by a bush turkey, who left us alone.

After attending today's event to celebrate 15 years of geocaching, Team CDRSS decided to take advantage of the sunshine and find a few more caches in the area. As we started I put my phone away as I was running low on battery and trusted my team to bring me to GZ. As the rest of the team stared at their phones I took in the sights and spotted the cottage that the rest did not see until I pointed it out to them. Snoopy1976 claimed the find on this one. Certainly a strange spot for a heritage building! It's very hidden away between all these towering offices, and isn't particularly visible from the road ...unless you park out the back of the HoneyWell building like we did ;p After quickly traversing around the house, we soon reached GZ, where dad made a chance find. Not sure if cache was meant to be at ground level (maybe it was meant to be higher up on the fence?), but we replaced it close to the second feature listed in the hint. TFTC Smile

As SSSonya said, I was fortunate enough to fumble across the nano ... a rather random spot, but was at GZ, so well done Big Grin. Thanks for bringing us to this location. I've driven by this "silicone valley" many times but unaware of this heritage listed "jewel amongst the concrete jungle" house ..... brilliant, and so cool to now know its there Cool ...... much appreciated. Found at lunch time by Nanny and Bo.
Came in by the track with an entrance from the road.
We signed the log.
We took nothing and left nothing.
Thanks for the cache.

Today I had a bit of mixed luck and this cache evaded me. There was a big beautiful red-belly black snake sitting right on GZ taking in a bit of sun but he slithered away just before I could get a picture of him. Once he had moved on I spent about 20 minutes re-adjusting spider web positions and searching high and low but I just couldn't spot the cache Sad

I assume that I was looking in the right place (where the hint says). I couldn't count on GPS here as the tree cover was making the reading very jumpy.

Not an easy one! But good! Actually stumbled upon it! TFTC!

We were on the hunt for waypoints in the Riverside Ramblings multi, but this cache was on our route. We looked in a few places, then Canary spotted right next to me.

Thinks Smile

I spotted this while looking elsewhere. A nice building. Thanks for the history.

03-Jan-15
We were here looking for an old multi that doesn't supply waypoints, so we wandered around a bit. But we were passing within 80 metres of this cache, so I suggested we look for it. The coordinates seemed to be all over the place. Admittedly, it was hard to judge their accuracy, as the GPS didn't seem to like the tree cover. I measured anything from 1 metre to over 20 metres distance to destination from where we actually found the cache. The hint made it much easier. Thanks

2nd try. Spurred on by the recent finds! Got it this time. No pen with me unfortunately. Nice little cache. Thank you.

04-Oct-14
Found at 5:42pm.

This was my final cache for today and it was nearing on darkness when I began conducting my search. Plenty of big offices around here, a quiet place by night but I'm sure a very busy one on weekdays. I approached from totally the wrong angle and this made everything a lot harder. In fairness, the GPS was telling me it was only a few metres into the trees. I passed through many-a-cobweb as a result of my ignorance, I made friends with a few spiders along the way.

The GPS was proving to be stubborn after I phoned a friend and was advised that I was searching about 8-10 metres away from the cache. I corrected myself and headed in the right direction. I must say that even from this point it wasn't easy, I searched a likely area for 4-5 minutes before finally putting my hands on this camo'd baby. I signed the log and off I went down the path that could've easily lead me to GZ in the beginning.

On my way back to the car I nearly crossed paths with some form of water-dragon looking reptile. He was very quick and scared the be-haysoos out of me.

Thanks for the cache JordsAU

Pretty certain we found the GZ location based on the co-ordinates and the hint but after a good search couldn't find the cache.

24-Aug-14
An interesting little spot in between all the big buildings. Parking is definitely easier here on Sundays than when I have had to come this way for work during the week on occasions. Unfortunately even with the hint and previous logs I came up blank on this one. Hopefully it is still around somewhere. Thanks JordsAU.

I am pretty sure I found the right spot but the cache could not be located Sad
My geo-radar is off today....will go back and tray again another day Smile

Amazing to find the cottage tucked away amongst these office buildings. A simple hide in the end. Tftc

27-Jul-14
Nice location near the cottage. You'd never know it existed!

27-Jul-14
We remember when this was published as the sun was almost set and we were driving through Chatswood. We did think twice about going for it then but would have been late for where we were originally heading. Today we were in the area again and decided to head over after the kids sport. We found our way down what seemed Like semi private roads to find ample close parking which by the look of it is probably not the case during the week. A short walk up to GZ and the GPSr did not want to give to much away with 20 m accuracy so we looked at the hint and started to search. It took a bit but we turned it up and completed the signing duties before re hiding. Intersting history about the cottage. TFTC

Third time, and armed with a super-specific 'hint' from CO, and I finally got it. Still took me a while - my micro sensing abilities must have been dulled by the ammo boxes that I have been hunting for recently.

Still, I'm glad to have this one done - for a while there I thought I was going to have to book a CacheTour to find it Smile
