1 September 2024 10:36amOh boy - this one was an adventure in and of itself! We allowed the 11year old the GPS. This meant that we made our way to this cache AS THE CROW FLIES!This entailed going off the path, down a ridge into a dry creek, back up another hill and finally making it to GZ. Many spikes, a couple of trips some sideways shuffling for me (to try and avoid injuring myself further). At GZ a bit of searching happened. Some admiration of old Red and we came up with the goods. Now to get back.....we did not trust the 11uear old again. No paths could be seen from our location so we went up to the highest point from where we were discussing our plan. Plan A - located a path, then head back out from there. Plan B - use the GPS to go to the last cache found. Plan C - trek back the way we came in.Luckily, when we got to the edge of the highest point, the path was spotted instantaneously. We then continued on our way and headed on homeThanks for the adventure
Regarding our O'Dwyers Gully walk, baby Cottontail and I set out departing from Parkside Drive just after 09:45 hr. We walked along Woogaroo Highway (interestingly named for a bushland track), and then proceeded anti-clockwise via Nic's cross over, Opossum Creek Run, before walking through the scrub to join Bee Run and returning north to then follow Woogaroo Highway back to the car. We ended up walking a total distance of 9.6 km across an elevation of 161 m, with a moving time of 2:20 hr, and elapsed time of 3:15 hr, as per my [Strava record](https://www.strava.com/activities/11258349271). A forgotten bushland area, and a few of the trails still seem to be used by 4WDs. Midway through our walk, baby Cottontail enjoyed a backpack nap, which gave me motivation to continue a longer route than planned.A dedicated detour from the main track that we were walking on to this cache, and much to my surprise (or non-surprise), it was another cool wreck. The cache was tricky to spot, and I managed to find a silhouette of something from the other side, in an area that matched the hint. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks [TrickyT](https://coord.info/PR1GWZW) for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.----------Today on the Anzac Day public holiday, baby Cottontail and I travelled to Springfield and walked in O'Dwyers Gully. We stopped at a few geocaches en route in Camira, which provided an opportunity for playground play. Following our walk, it was time for a bakery lunch and a few geocaches in Springfield, Camira, and Gailes, before returning home in the early afternoon.
I was sitting at home when I get a call from Triple Turmoil, I’m free of kids for the afternoon, let’s go cache. WOW within half an hour she was on the doorstep, bikes loaded and we were on our way. There is a group of 5 or 6 caches that we were going to hit for the afternoon ride. This was her first time on her new bike.
We did manage to sneak in a few extra caches in our travels. Thanks to all CO’s for the afternoons adventures and hides.
All were fun little adventures and easy finds, we signed the logs and replaced all as found.

I had a spare few hours in the afternoon and the two turmoils were off on various adventures. I decided it was time to do some of the caches that the children would whinge about. I called Chamad and within half an hour we were on our way and off to this area to get some smilies.
The ride in this area is not recommended. The rocks on the track are relentless. It may possibly have been quicker to walk.
As I approached gz my heart sank. This was going to be tricky. Tricky to spot. Tricky to avoid rust cuts. Tricky to avoid creatures that have taken up residence in Red Rover. I circled my eyes from a comfortable distance from one direction, with no luck. Moved to the other side and spotted it straight away. Glad it was a quick find in the end and I didnt need to touch too many surfaces. I always marvel about how vehicles made it to their resting place. Must have been prior to gates and bollards.

Headed out on the geo-bike for a few caches after parting way with my granddaughter.
Decided to hit a few around Brookwater.
I thought this one was going to beat me but I changed my focus and then I found it quickly.

I was here in 2018 with elina_maree and all of our kids. I’m not sure how we got them all to walk down this road, but I do remember my eldest was stung by a hornet at the GZ and we didn’t manage to find the cache that time. Back here today by myself and it was a quick and easy find. TFTC!
I popped out for a spot of caching today & was pleased to pick up 5 out of 5.

Quick find. This one looks like it hasn’t been here all that long judging by the rego sticker on the nearby windscreen. Thanks for the cache
Wow that’s a lot of trash. This looks like one of the many landmarks I have remarked to the family could be named “tetanus.” Tftc. I do have to wonder how all these end up out here in the first place?
Things you find in the middle of the bush… it’s been a number of years since Blkthunder and I were in this part of Springfield… and I’m not sure why we left this cache unfound way back then… so while out enjoying an afternoon of caching with Blkthunder we made the walk in…
It appears someone has had a Mickey D’s party at GZ… I was told I couldn’t collect the rubbish… it also appears the party goers drove to GZ judging by the tire marks around(which would have taken some planning)… finally, and having never been here before it’s hard to be certain, but the marks on the ground would indicate that the party goers may have attempted to move the Rover… Up hill!!!
I’m no tracker who can read the marks on the ground, so it’s all conjecture on our part… the cache is still sitting snugly in its place though… tftc…

Cache four found during my walk on a beautiful winter’s day. Took me a bit longer than it should have to find. I should have taken more notice of the hint. Tftc
Found this one in between the afternoon showers. A nicely hidden cache - fun to find thanks.
Essential Saturday exercise in this deserted bushland.
Not a living soul in sight today.
The Red Rover will need more than a push to get out of here.

Due to family illness and stinking weather I have been unable to get back there. However things have improved. I have a replacement cache and will get it sorted in the near future. Thank you for your patience.
DNF. Friend’s 11 y.o. son stung by hornet - nesting at GZ. Plus a pair of “March flies” buzzing around (killed one with a nice slap). I guess this meant we avoided particular areas of GZ and hurried our search because we were concerned about the sting the hornet inflicted. And probably missed the geocache for this reason.
After visiting five (I think) aircraft crash sites caused by CFIT (controlled flight into terrain) I think most of these sites did somewhat resemble this cache site, with bits of stuff from the machine strewn around the surrounding countryside. Hardly any of the items in the unit seemed to be intact, but not much seems to have been taken away as souvenirs. Reading the notes, there was really only one place left to examine, and there was the cache! Added my name to the log and replaced it where found. Then a retreat back to the car. TFTC, TrickyT.
This was the second find for muggle son and I on our morning caching trip. It's not a rover, but it was fun roving around looking for it, and using my geo -senses, I found it quickly. A great hide, it was a fun cache. TFTC.
Oh no...a micro on that...we could be here for a while. Thankfully after a quick read Kestal came up with the goods quick smart. Thanks again TrickyT.
Down from Toowoomba with Eskies5 to grab a few caches. Last find for us in the area. Yet another clever little hide here, after a quick read of the cache page we started our search. I managed to make the find in the second place I searched. Poor little Red Rover being left here alone. Great so it gets a visitor every now and then. TFTC TrickyT
2.55pm. Forty minutes to get here from our first find on this loop. Seemed to be all up hill too. Nice hide.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
Thanks for the clue. Very helpful. Wow! What a creative cache and well worth the walk. A favourite for me! Thanks for the cache TrickyT!
Wow. Tricky hide! I was very lucky to find it so quick. Could have been looking for hours. TFTC
6/2/16 out caching with Marina25 to qualify for a monthly challenge. We followed the path and soon headed bush. As we walked towards GZ we commented about a large object in the distance. Soon after Marina25 re-read the name of the cache and it was a face slap moment. Of course. That large thing in front of us IS GZ. Lol. We arrived and starting poking around but came up empty handed. I re-read the description and we felt we had a good idea but still nothing. We read some previous logs and agreed we were on the right track earlier so we took a closer look and sure enough there was the cache. Woohoo. A clever little hide. TFTC
The description is very help full but locating it could be a different story, we searched all the obvious places and then there it is quite obvious when you think about it TFTC

Awesome set up, and great walk to location! Took a little rummaging, but found relatively easily. Thanks for the great cache
Last minute decision a geofriend muggle and i decided to go out for a late night hike and find a recommended night cache. Well we didnt get to far with that and glad we decided to move on to find other ones. As we approached the area something caught our eye. Well 2 females in the bush very late at night and thinking we should head the opposite direction not to this bright colour in the bush. As we neared i realised it was gz. I could breathe again. I loved this cache. Muggle friend had found it before i finished reading the description. (I think the super bright torch that lights up for miles nade it worse)
Teamdfl and I are in area today for a few caches.
This was one I had not found.
After a short search I found it.
Thanks for the cache.

TFTC. #13. Found with the family, Dad, Uncle and Cousins. Happy to say us kids found it first, but there was lots of places this one could have been!
As mentioned this was extremely obvious as we approach. The large container looked like it might be a worthwhile place to try and it turned out I was right!
Great cache!

Spent the day in the area with Genyo doing some caching and this was next on our list. We followed the GPS and before long spotted GZ. When there we prepared for a rather large search but within a few minutes Genyo had spotted something and it turned out to be the cache. TFTC!
I seem to recall a song that went something like Roll over Red Rover, and it does seem to have suffered a tumble or two... Is it really a Rover? I wouldn't know as I didn't have toy cars as a child. My little sister had a garage and Matchbox cars and I resented that deeply. Poor me stuck with a jumble of bald Barbie dolls
Very quick find here and happy to hand over a FAVE point for a neat hide Looks like I need to veer off the track now, to clean up a stray on the other side.
On I rolled... (I may or may not have received an SMS from Genyo some way down the trail, letting me know I had written yesterday's date in a lot of logbooks)

Smilie #2085
The call went out, on Facebook, for able bodies to do a little night caching, with the main goal being 'The Night has a Thousand Eyes' night cache. I was quick to jump on board as this sounded like it promised to be another great caching jaunt.
Of course, rounding up a few extra smilies, in the great company of (Mr & Mrs) Roddy C, along the way is also a must!
Having successfully completed our target night cache RoddyC suggested I might like to grab another nearby Traditional. Heck yeah, it's not that late yet!
RoddyC accompanied me along the track until it was time to head bush then I was left to my own devices or Geo-senses as it were. The name is certainly appropriate & the final hiding place was very clever.
Signed the log & replaced as found.

Great little hide. Tonight we wanted this cache to be the R of APRIL in the Month challenge, and after the disappointment of The Punisher by the police blocking Cobalt Street due to the nearby knife murder, we decided to try for four more higher terrain difficulties for that other challenge. After the first two were claimed, we moved over to this area to do another two, but the heavens opened so we had to wait in the car for 45 minutes. We listened to the TV News on the Radio about the knife murderer possibly hiding out in near by bushlands, but thought no more of it. It wasn't until we were near this cache that we heard the Police Chopper going back and forth nearby that we thought - hey, we are alone in the bush at night and it's dark! When we saw Red Rover, Mrs RoddyC became really nervous. Could the murderer be hanging about here. So we were relieved to have found the cache, signed the log, and as quickly as we could get out of there! Found at 7.55 pm on 2nd April 2015. TFTC.
This was the forth cache of the early evening on the way to our original target, a nearby night cache. With CO in tow, three cachers had so far found three caches from three. We were enjoying our walk through this area of bushland and were keen for the dark to close in as the night cache was beckoning. As we approached "Red Rover" which I'm not sure was actually a Rover (but I digress) we all knew where the cache would be. But then we didn't know where it would be. Don't you hate that?! Typical caching conundrum.
A quick read of the hint, then a re-read of the cache page... six eyes looked under, over, inside, outside... a few minutes later Hot Wheels Duo found the sneaky little hide and we were once again reminded of the CO's caching name and how fitting it was becoming as the adventure progressed.
Names were duly inscribed in the log and we continued on our way. TFTC. SL.

I was out with Hot Wheels Duo and 35 To 1 to do the night cache The night has a thousand eyes. We had the pleasure of the company of the CO who was checking his caches. This was our last cache before doing the night cache. Hot Wheels Duo found this clever little hide!
It was right on dark when we found this one - I read the description and thought there was only one place it could be. With a little bit of thinking, I was lucky enough to find this one - another favourite point from me! I am parting with a few today...hehe
This is the last one before the night cache. It is really starting to get dark, and though the road is light enough, the scrub needed a torch to navigate. Found the obvious GZ, and as I had not read the description, did not know what I was looking for. After a few minutes the clever little hide was found. Fave Pt for me.
Well played sir!
Well played sir!
Neat hide. we searched GZ over, then I saw something and a light bulb went on in my head. TFTC
Up early this morning: I normally go to the gym but decided to come over here instead. I always get a bit confused trying to get to Camira and today was no exception. Eventually I arrived at a familiar spot (from the big 1000 eyes event: wasn't that a great night?) and set off. Wearing gym gear, I thought I'd try a little jog from time to time, but it's certainly demanding to do it uphill on loose gravel.
Soon enough I was off track and looking around. Ah yes... That is indeed a fairly obvious red rover. Thankfully I uncovered the hide pretty quickly and now appreciate the hint! All is in fine nick, and I was soon jogging away, though very wary of snakes nonetheless. TFTC Tricky T!

I enjoy trying to spot the likely hide from a distance as I walk towards them. Thus was very easy to see. But I then luckily found the micro quickly too. So many big kangaroos all around me here. So beautiful to watch. Proud Australian moment. I will have to come back at night maybe with some friends your puzzle. Looking forward to it. Made sure I didn't leave my phone or back pack at gz as I can't come back timorous to get then. :-p. Tftc
I wandered up here in the dark before I tried the night has a thousand eyes. A pretty good cache thank you.
We just arrived back in Australia and to celebrate we decided to organise a group attack on The Night Has a Thousand Eyes (GC4QQAG). After finding WP1 we decided to take a detour and grab this one. Definitely a red rover going no more. A quick find for Mrs THR. When asked where she found it she answered smartly "I just looked in the obvious place." TFTC TrickyT

Found whilst out night caching with the group doing Night of 1000 eyes. This one was very clever indeed. Neat hide. Interesting bushland here - you never know what you are going to find! TFTC.
T-Tech and I attended Crew153's "The hunt for a Thousand Eyes" event tonight. Because so many people wanted to participate we formed into small groups, and ours included egginthesky and eatmorchikin.
Stop number 5. A bit of a bush bash to this one, but we spotted GZ as we arrived. A read of the Description gave us a couple of ideas where to search, and eatmorchikin made the find. The clue was clever too. TFTC, TrickyT.

Totalube, La Kedi, and myself made our way into this one next.. under the observant eye of Mr Bulldozer72.
Mr Totalube had this "type" of GZ guessed even before I had a chance. Poor thing doesn't look like it has been there that long.
We went around and around. I was concentrating in certain areas - probably because I was half-interested in how intact everything actually was.
But thankfully La Kedi came up with the goods - all too soon for Bulldozer72 Nicely done. We signed the log and re-hid it where it belonged. TFTC TrickyT

Loved the hide! Came here for a night caching event. Had so much fun traipsing through the bush in the dark! Thanks
A bit more walking in the dark and a bit of further adventure as we made our way to GZ. A great hide here TrickyT. Well done! We appreciate your creativity. Thanks for hiding these caches and adding to our enjoyment here tonight. [^][^]
You know with a bit of a polish, some new tyres and a service this would be back on the road in no time I am not sure they make them this tough any more.
We had to search for a while, but eventually LaKedi made the discovery. Good hide.
Log book all signed and we continued onto a meeting place for tonight's adventure.
Thanks

"Red Rover, Cross Over" was in my head as I approached GZ, but the boys had bigger boys' games in mind and were all rabbiting on about how you could identify this type of vehicle even in its current condition. Again, teamwork makes this much smoother, and I ended up in the right spot and made the find . An interesting hide in the rapidly darkening evening - and now I see what the clue means! TFTC, TrickyT. =^.^=
We passed the group in front of us as they were searching for the start of the Thousand Eyes Hunt and headed away down the hill to get this one before we started our hunt for them. A bit of bush bashing to get to GZ and there was no mistaking that we were at the right spot.
We spread out and it wasn't long before one of the group discovered the sneaky hide.
This one deserves a favorite point as well. A great hide TrickyT

Continued along the trail and another pit stop. A long drink was in order too and geoson sat in the shade with the bikes whilst I went in search. What a shame about these vehicles being dumped in such a manner. This one had me going in circles to think what larger container was around. I looked in some obvious spots but could not find it. So I stopped and decided to move this and touch that. Oh that moved. Ah Ha! Clever! TFTC
We were getting ready to have friends around for dinner, and with a few hours free, we decided to head off and grab a couple of the newer caches which have popped up in the area We headed off, and soon pulled up at the trailhead, and made our way towards GZ. This one was next up on the list, and with a slight detour, we soon found ourselves getting closer and closer to GZ, when we spot something bright from a distance An excellent hiding spot for this one indeed

Raced up to this one in the dark like an accident going somewhere to happen and by torchlight found the container. Capped off another walk in the black forrest.
I ended up taking the wrong path. I had to walk through the bush, crossing a small creek. Loved the container. Awesome hide. TFTC
Well GZ is easy to spot from a distance. I'm surprised it was not set on fire when it was dumped. My caching mojo was still with me for this one. Straight to the cache for another nice quick find Once again a favourite point for showing me something just that little bit different
Had a good idea of the general hid and a few ideas of where to start looking. Couldn't see anything that matched my first idea so looked in a couple of other places quickly for no luck. Came back to re-examine my first idea and soon spotted what I had hoped to see and soon had the cache in hand. Tftc and a tricky hide.
Oh, that red rover, I see now... [^] No shortage of these beasts as you walk through some of the bushland around Brissy and plenty of then used for GZ'z too... [^]
I covered the rover from end to end and had nothing in hand. Hmm... A quick scout around on the inside revealed nothing either... OK, this is the last on the trail, I'm not leaving it behind... I went for the hint, which of course led me elsewhere and I ended up reading the cache page... Not something I do very often I must admit...
With a snippet of useful information obtained, I focused on a particular area and voila, cache located... Ah yes, that's a nice hide... Name in the log, I replaced everything as it was, and headed back along the path to the car...
Nice work on this one, something a little bit different that we all like to see. Have a favourite point form me...
Cheers TrickyT.

Seem to be visiting this area a lot of late. Got to GZ just before sun down, exactly according to plan as we were night caching after this one Spotted the hiding place quickly enough but so many options... We were being attacked by squadrons of March Flies so had an Aeroguard break before commencing the search. Soon had the very neat hide. Nice one TrickyT TFTC
Got to this one just before sunset and the GZ was very easy to spot from a distance. As we started searching we encountered a large swarm of march flies which were soon dealt with some liberal application of insect repellent. Back to the search and we split up to start looking with Manic finding the clever hide after a few minutes. Another nice hide with a twist. TFTC
Found this one just before sundown as we were in the area to get the night cache after this one. Upon approaching GZ we were attacked by a group of march flies so the aeroguard was handed around and then the search started for the cache. There were quite a few likely spots that the cache could be located but spotted a little while later, signed log and returned it to the hiding spot. Another neat hide. TFTC TrickyT
I was a bit slow off the mark for this one. I checked at work but had to finish off what i was doing before heading home. I asked Mrs PJATPAC if she was up for an FTF attempt and she answered in the affirmative so we grabbed geopups & geokids and off we went. I tried a different approach this time, but I couldn't find the access point I could see on the satellite imagery. Nevermind, I'll go to the access point I've already used twice this week . We caught up with Lisylou about to head off after claiming the FTF, well done .
I knew what we were in for and pretty much where we'd be headed so no need for the GPS for quite a while. The geopups enjoyed the walk and the geokids were pretty good. It was a very pleasant afternoon to be out here.
On approach I could see the likely hiding spot, we now just had to make good use of the hint. Not too long & the cache was in hand.
I took the opportunity to show the rest of the team the start of the night cache and fish & chips & wreck it ralph. I popped a few swaps in the pocket before we headed up the hill so the geokids enjoyed a ferret and a swap here.
Thanks again Tricky T, I wonder how many more time I can come here this week [?]
