Cache is MIA and after some recent cachers questioning the location of the cache. I've decided to archive it.
We walked along a track on the main road side of the railway, hoping to reach GZ that way, but could only get within 80m of GZ so the cache is definitely over the railway on private land. The signs reading Private Land, Keep Out and This Area is Patrolled by Security were fairly clear, and the person working on equipment at the railway crossing was a bit of a dampener too. This is one cache we don't need to find.
Nice piece of history. Some people just can't help themselves to ruining places like this.
Heading out towards Wollombi and the old north road so stopped for this cache. A very interesting location and one we otherwise would not have known about. TFTC
A little freaky with all the no trespassing signs! Very interesting location, thanks for the history lesson.
Found at 0952. Ended up in the Cessnock area yesterday and will be staying here for over a week. I walked into the area. found the GZ and cache quickly then scampered out of the place. TFTC.
Went om a bush walk and found the site - lots of interesting pieces just lying around - tftc and the exercise.
Left Bugs Bunny to mind the cache

Relatively easy find, cache in great condition and an interesting bit of history! Please note, the signs don't lie. I had a very close call with the perimeter patrol. For this reason don't walk on the sealed road or rail tracks, stick to the dirt paths behind the trees. Cache in need of some cool collectibles, I didn't have any on me though so next person please drop some off!! TFTC!
Our last cache for the day on a glorious sunny day, whilst we spent time caching around the Hunter Valley and surrounds. Cache found quickly upon arriving at GZ. TNLN SL TFTC
Unfortunately it looks like this cache has been muggled big time. After I followed the gps coordinates to the cache, I found the cache sitting in the middle of the open, the log was missing and the box looks like it has been raided. I put in a piece of paper in as a temporary log and hid the box in the area out of sight.
This Geo is on private land with signs on the gates advising trespassers will be prosecuted. I did not attempt it. Hope it can be worked out with the owners to allow Geo-ers legal access.
Our first day ever geocaching. This was one we came across. Left "smart work" pin on badge, a sticker sheet and flowers. Also left a name card. Signed log as well.
On tour with KAT from Wagga and decided to grab a few more caches - Unusual area to be walking around in - TFTC
On tour with BAB from Wagga and decided to grab a few caches - This area is on that made me think twice whether to into or but took a bit of a walk TFTC
Very interesting spot....the log book is damp, somehow it has got wet and is drying out, container upside down possible cause, still able to sign book, replaced cache with container up the right way, tftc
Cache #113. Another cache on my "must do" list. Felt a bit naughty walking in an area that has signs up saying "no unauthorised access". Found the area relatively quickly. There are two trenches in the area, and of course we checked the wrong one first. Thanks for taking us here!
After finishing all my store visits for work, I decided to go find this cache. Great piece of local history -sadly vandals have also found it and tagged the walls. Thanks for the cache.
In the hunter valley for our 10th wedding anniversary. 6th cache of the day. Kids didn't enjoy the walk in but "this was a cool cache". Nice big container but unfortunately swaps were pretty dodgy. Took nothing but left some swaps inside. TFTC.

Love coming to places like this as I tend to live in the past a little. Tried to imagine the noise and smell of the engines as they did their work. It was a quick find although I could see how some would miss it due to the camo paint job. thanks TeamSenz, gave it a fav.
Dropped into some trenches, depends on which way you go in as to where the LH corner is.
Interesting place.
Interesting place.
Walked in with the two geokids. Charlotte (3) was pumped to find treasure in a castle! Lol. A quick find. TFTC
A bit of a drizzly day for a bit of caching ,thanks for bringing me to this piece of history and yes what a winch.

Came back for another look and found it this time. confused ourselves with simplicity last time.
Great piece of history. Such a shame the recent graffiti tags have spoilt another piece of Australia's heritage.
An interesting place. Made sure box was put back in the correct spot. it was too visible. TFTC
This is what caching is about for me. Don't get me wrong, I love a good puzzle and an interesting container.
But here I had a relaxing walk that required using my GPS and not just following a trail. A thrill on finding a bit of history returning to whence it came, with the opportunity for a good instagram photo, with a large cache.
Nicely done (again) aaron.

Made a nice detour to here after work. Went to the gate, read to park somewhere else. Went back to the houses and found a half path going into the bush, unfortunately it swung around the wrong way and I had to find my own path, fortunately the bush was quite thin. Once across the rails I saw my destination and soon stabbed myself on the spiky plants/weeds guarding the closest stairs entry. I had a great look around and finally found the cache (without the hint). I swapped a sentimental key ring for an awesome LEGO minifigure and took one travel bug. I saw some people walking a dog go past, and then I headed back a different way from which I had come. There was more garbage around, but a better track, and I saw a lady looking for something amongst it all. I got some coordinates for where the trailhead joined onto the main road.
Thanks for showing me this really interesting structure I never would have found otherwise!

My daughters really liked this spot,we had a nice walk with a refreshing sprinkling of rain and then seeing the surprise when they saw the building and the cache.A great spot and history took a travel bug and left a travel bug. Thanks TeamSenz
Don't know what to say about this one ignored the no entry signs and could've been a dangerous area but at least it was a good cache and an interesting spot. Tftc took tb
Wow fantastic hide and nice big container with lots of swaps, thanks for bringing me here
Found at 1:04 PM GAFF1. It is always interesting to go and explore these old structures that you wouldn't know about while driving along Wollombi Rd. When we arrived at GZ we knew exactly where we were going to have to look [xx(] So much for trying to keep clean for the afternoon winery visits
There was some work going on in the bush with a tractor - wonder if they are doing a feasibility study to reopen the site?
Thanks TeamSenz.

Beautiful Day today.. Jfindit take me drive to around to find caches.... Hide well.. thank
Headed North to The Hunter Valley early this morning to Kurri Kurri, Cessnock, Belbird and Paxton in company with ALL7 to do some exploring and hopefully find some caches. Great work Teamsenz Thanks for the detailed history lesson wonderful place. Great cache. TFTC
1200 GAFF2 While down in the area again, but mostly to get some trig / geodetic stations, I thought I would get some caches as well. Parked what I thought what I thought was an appropriate distance away from an open gate for the railway line, off Wollombi Road, and with MVMB headed along a track/road that seemed very well maintained (for a mine subsidence area).
Nice open bush meant we soon found the structure, and then realised I should have brought a couple of shopping bags to remove a bit of the rubbish there. Nice sized cache, dry and intact, with good coordinates, so left a Correct Site Marker.
Just as we were about to leave the winch house a SNP Security ute went 'flying' up the dirt road to where I had parked, and left a stern business card.
Brought through for mileage: 12-12-12 Event, 3 Bros NSW, Auckland NZ'13, Bikey TB, B 2 B Travel ingot, Iconic Bridges 2012, cache critters Baa, Neigh Neddy, and Oink, Geico travel tag, NZ Mega 2013 GCookie Coin, Ocotillo Wells Geocoin, and trackable shirts.

While on our way out to Ellalong TP we stopped just off the road, near the railway line and took and easy walk off into the bush, tho it was only at about 80 m that we could see the winch house.
Wouldn't want one of those cogs to topple over on you!
All good with the cache, right at GZ. Left a pair of scissors.
Discover Me Tag through. Then wondered why a security ute was driving so fast up the well maintained track, only to find out when we got back to the car.

This was such a cool place. We took a few photos and then made the find. Would never of known this was here if it wasn't for this cache. Thanks TeamSenz

After going stir crazy at home with all the rain it was time to head out and grab a couple of caches. We found a trail which led in the direction of GZ. The recent rain made for some interesting driving but we made it to GZ in one piece. The log was signed and a few photos were taken.
Thanks for bringing us here TeamSenz an interesting location.

2nd to find. I have started going to the gym the last few days and thought I might have the day off and go hunting instead and get some exercise that way. After parking the car and jogging ( yes , jogging ) to the GZ I did some press ups getting down , did some crawling , up again , back down , more crawling then FOUND IT. No onehad logged on yet so I thought I was FTF And my heart started pounding = great for a work out . Opened the cache and found another signiture about 1/2 hour before. Oh well was a good work out anyway Thanks Team Senz for getting me up and out of the house in the fresh air.....better then the smelly gym.
*FTF*
It's amazing what can be discovered within meters of a road you have traveled many times. Good work tracking this down and a nice piece of history. Mini Unibolt loved the location and didn't want to leave. Thanks for the cache TeamSenz.

FTFBW Yay! New category, First To Find By Walking. I just made it up.
As with the sister cache Workers Tunnel, I saw this come up earlier today and a few seconds later (or close to it) the FTF by Unibolt. So rather than tear out I strolled out casually on my afternoon walk.
It was actually a bit of a walk from home but with the dog in tow we kept on going after Workers Tunnel.
Really interesting bit of gear! Thanks for bringing me here and an excuse to go for a lengthy walk.
