Today we headed out to find some caches after a bit of a hiatus whilst we were dog sitting. Todays plan was to tackle Mt Barrow and other caches in the surrounding area. What a great day we had, the weather was pretty wild at the top of the mountain and only 4 degrees, certainly blew out the cobwebs . We found lots of caches and enjoyed our day. Picnic at Barrow Hut was great. Our thanks to all the CO, certainly wouldnt be enjoying Tassie as much without you all.Super spot for lunch and a cache TFTC
A quick Easter trip away.. decided to have a look at Mount Barrow! WOW what a mountain!!
With the sun shining and no rain to be seen, I decided to drive up a mountain and collected a few caches on the way.
I’d be interested in some of the history of this hut. Was it used during bad weather? By who?

I have really enjoyed doing this series of geocaches with Angus 88 doing the driving. I’ve always wanted to come up and do this drive. Lovely scenery. We managed to make it to the top.
Easy find. Found, stamped and replaced, with Maggie and Mollie, my GeoWesties, while roaming around Tasmania with our motorhome “Mylittlebus” looking for content for our TASMANIA ALL OVER facebook. Join us there. Thanks for placing this cache (and others), keeping us on our exploring toes.
Beautiful day, so peaceful. Clear view from top of Mount Barrow. Pencil missing from cache. Dry and in tact. TFTC
Out and about caching in the area and stopped to find this cache. A quick find. TFTC
Today I had some free time and decided that Molly Dog and I would head out and see if we could get to the top of Mount Barrow. The weather was overcast for most of the day and the higher we got the cooler it became there was no wind but towards the end it was drizzling.
Accurate coordinates and good hints lead to quick finds.
This cache and its contents were in good condition.

After completing the TNT series of caches up the mountain we arrived here at the right time for lunch.
After the caching duties were done we headed over to the hut and had it to ourselves where we enjoyed a nice BBQ with sausages.

Up this way to find caches in a new series by icybeetas.
A short drive from the last cache where this hide was soon found.
Log slightly damp and no ziploc....so put log in a new ziploc to hopefully stay dry.
A real pleasure to find another robtas cache.
Many tftc...much appreciated....cheers ST.

I was in the area so made the detour to tick this one off my to do list. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find.
Today we are heading back home after spending three fantastic days touring around the North East of the state. We have decided to meander our way back taking our time and taking a few roads less travelled in the North and we are picking off one or two outstanding caches along the way. It is quite a grey and overcast day with spots of showers, therefore good day to be in the car for most part.
The drive up here was really very interesting. Mount Barrow looked quite spectacular each time it came out from behind the clouds. It was certainly chilly and windy as we made the short walk to the gz. Great area and one we probably would not come across if it had not been for geocaching. Once again that is the beauty of this hobby. Just as we finished logging another vehicle came passed and continued up to the top as we did towards the next cache. TFTC

After doing the nearby GCA Geo Art trail we decided to continue on to this cache.
Remember coming here for a family picnic when I was quite young so it must have been here a very long time.
There were still patches of ice on the road as we drove to GZ and lots of icy puddles in the car park which were fun to tread on.
The cache was quickly located and I remembered to smile as apparently you are on camera here!!!
We would have loved to continue on to Mt Barrow as we haven't been there for a few years but we had a big list of caches for the day and of course that won.
Thanks.

Really beautiful spot here! Drove here yesterday and was introduced to the area by a muggle. We had a bit of trouble with nearly running out of petrol but lots of laughs were had! Decided to come back today to find the cache alone. Maybe one day I’ll convince her to join my hobby. Thanks for the cache
Hello robtas thank you for the cahce
Today EeePees and I were on our way to Launceston to pick up some furniture and on the way we stopped off to find some caches.
We had plans on finding all of the cache up on the mountain but due to the heavy rain and lake of wet weather gear this was the only one we found. Even then we both got wet. Luckily enough the cache was easily found.

Hi robtas, many thanks for the cache, found with my great mate AlbyDangles.
Today we'd headed north under the pretence of collecting a piece of furniture; but of course we were geocaching, and may I say, a great day out with fantastic company.
We decided to tackle the Mount Barrow caches, but by the time we got here, the weather was deteriorating and so we decided to continue upwards, and stop here on the way back.
To our great disappointment, the weather up top was atrocious, driving rain, wind, and visibility of only a few metres - we didn't even get out of the car.
Once back at the 'hut' it was still raining, but we decided not to leave empty handed - so it was coats on, and a fossick in the wet grass until the cache was found. Even the trees were leaking!
Thanks for bringing us here. We'll still need to come back to complete our unfinished business up-top.
Cheers, EPs.

PS: Of course back on the Midland Highway a few hours later heading homewards, Mount Barrow was looking resplendent above the lower cloud cover !

out and about with 2 Rafas caching of to the north and then the east perhaps. TFTC TNBPLN log dry. easy find with clues an GPS, gloomy day to start cloud cover around the top.
Thanks for the cache robtas.
RLD4963, the GeoGSP and I were visiting the north of the state for a couple of days. After staying overnight at Hadspen, today we were making our way to Weldborough via Mount Barrow.
I hadn't visited Mount Barrow so was looking forwardf - I think - to the drive up. Making our way up to this area was easy, and non-eventful. The cache was found quickly, and we continued on our way. Thanks for placing a cache here at this lovely area.

My 2000th GC find . Very quiet area and no one on the road up here today. A quick find and cache in good condition. I drove a bit further up the mountain but got scared when it was going up the face and I could see down and so had to turn around and return.
While doing the discovery loop we thought we would travel a little further and try get this and the one at the top of mt burrow. Sadly the road at the top was closed and having bub with us the one at the top just wasn’t achieved but we were thrilled with this and GZ is a beautiful location.

Well catching up with logs going all the way back to last year is painful let me tell you!
It was the previous finder that talked me into wanting to do this one, it had been on my radar for a bit but had never got round to it.
But today we had a plan so it was great to fin this cache on the way to anotehr very old one not far from here.
Thanks for the cache.

It had been a vert smoky morning but it was a little clearer now as we were heading up the mountain to find Arthur's Barrow. We stopped only metres from the cache and could see it easily as we approached. After a quick signing we looked waaaaaay up to where we were heading. This is going to be fun!
Thanks robtas

A quick stop off before going to the top
A great adventure out today collecting caches around the Mt Borrow discovery area and surrounds. All up a total of 10 finds. Was lucky enough to get the car out of the ditch when coming down after doing the discovery trail. I hit a soft patch in the road and it slid down into a ditch. Lucky for the 4wd I was able to reverse up out of it.
I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. Given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After over 5000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before the end of next year. It's surprising how much is has increase since doing this.

I did lots of smiling for the camera today but didn't manage to spot it. The weather started to come in wet and cold so a quick grab and sign before driving up to the top for a quick look-see. Not much to see but clouds, fog and mist! I didn't brave the elements up there for the cache this time. TFTC
Oops !! I drove straight past this one on me way to the top
Not too worry !!
I'll grab it on the way back down
And back at the hut I had sighted earlier in the day,
I poked around for a cache.
There's one !!

Nice easy find to start of the trip up Mt Barrow, pity about the state of the hut at the moment.
Hi there robtas.
We found your cache **"BARROW HUT"** at 10:45:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 18703).
We are camped at Myrtle Park, and it's cold, wet and miserable so we decided on a drive into Launceston for some supplies. On our way back the sun came out, so we detoured up the mountain to see the sights & log the cache. We only found one cache today. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found this lovely place.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 6m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Out for a drive in the country, took a wee detour off the bitumen to track down this one. Lovely bit of bush and a nice easy find.. thanks..!!
Nice easy find, the only reason to stop is to find this cache as the area looks really run down. TFTC.
A nice easy find after having been up the mountain in a not so appropriate car. No 4wd only sign, just a rough surface warning, so yep, I actually took the Mercedes sports coupe up into the clouds. Unfortunately the white out got so bad that I couldn't even see my feet whilst heading to the other cache, so a quick exit was had and that one will just have to wait for another day.
Many thanks to robtas from the Wackys

Bloomin cold up here today..plenty of ice about....beaut spot..thanks heaps for the cache...
Quick and easy. Found by a new friend on his first Geocaching trip. Beautiful area Tftc
Found this one on the way up the hill, this stop also prepared us for what was to come at the top. Was only a quick find and sign stop so we could get back in the warm car.
Night mission up the mountain to check out the views, grabbed this cache on the way back down. Quick find under torch light. Very peaceful up here tonight.
Grabbed a TB that's been sitting for a while.

The drive up here was very pleasant. The drive beyond up to the summit was "fun". Jacobs Ladder #2 perhaps. Dropped a bug we'd been carrying for way too long. Thanks for yet another robtas.
Nice quick find once I worked out which direction I needed to be headed (no phone service). Happy to find a cache after the last hunt stopped due to too much snow on the mountain
We had a great day heading up Mount Barrow, so we decided to see what was about. This was a relatively easy find, we left a small swap in the form of an eraser.

Out with SScharlie today, no service on our first stop here so had to save to our offline list and come back. Found with the help of a muggle who was fencing. He asked if we were after a black canister which had a note pad in it, as he had found it last weekend but left it. He showed us where it was and we explained geocaching to him.
Woohoo find #100!!

Out with katiemac88, found with the help of a muggle planting plants and fencing them off. Cache in good condition
We have had this cache on our agenda for this month and today we eventually got the opportunity to head towards Mt Barrow. It was very quiet after we turned off the Tasman Highway and we quickly got to GZ. A quick find was helped by the cache being in it's location but uncovered. The cache and it's contents were in good condition. TFTC robtas.
Woo Hoo *FTF* @ 12:15hrs. Made a quick find on a cool overcast day as no muggles about. TFTC
