Aw, we missed a great do while we were away. Have fond memories of the last one which was the first time we met you all. Thanks for posting the pics.
Congratulations to NZFlossie. We are following in your footsteps, though we haven't been up any ladders yet! Big Grin

SmileSmileSmileThis is my 2000 cache! - and for me this is the perfect cache to reach that number. Caching has given me lots of fun and adventures. I have met some lovely people and had many laughs and good times together. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin Thanks to NZBiscuit who got me started and thanks to Richard who has stopped me from getting lost, taken me to places that I would never had gotten to, never minded if the truck got a 'little' dusty, and taught me how not to fall out of the canoe by giving me lots of practice of getting out to find the cache while he sat and steady the boat. CoolCoolCoolSpecial caching moments have been - climbing high hills, going bush in the Kaimais, Kawekas and Kaimanawas, boating down the waikato river with a motor, biking rail trails with NZBiscuit, road trips with NZBiscuit and Kennyclan, getting a FTF for a cache miles in the bush and placed by a local cacher, canoeing up beautiful glowworm canyons and many more. Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinWe won't mention - the late nights trying to solve puzzle caches!, thinking I shouldn't really be here!, I should have told someone where I was going as I don't have any cellphone reception!, being late to work because of a FTF and having to think of a good excuse, climbing a ladder, I happened to have in the boot, in my work clothes and heels, crawling out of the bush and people looking and wondering what I was doing and of course all the loitering around public amentities!SmileSmileSmileSmile Special thanks to all you cachers for being part of this great sport and making it so good - it is so nice being able to catch up at an event like this, thanks Lionfish for organising it for us. SmileSmileSmileSmile

A great place for an event. Lucky the rain stopped in time. Thanks for organising this Lion Fish. Was great to meet more local cachers.

08-Feb-14
Thankyou Lion Fish for allowing us to put some faces to the names!

Thank you Lion Fish for organising this event --- it was such fun. SmileRed Face
And we appreciate your forethought in putting up tents for shelter Big Grin
And we appreciate your faith in the weather gods, that the rain would clear, and it did.
And we are pleased that we trusted the NZ Met Service forecast and left the rain behind in the Eastern Bay where it stayed all day. Big Grin
And thank you for organising two new caches for us all to complete --- and it was good to see 'older' cachers assisting new cachers to complete them and help them with using their GPS --- this way the sport will thrive and grow. Friendship amongst cachers is a special benefit; and occasions like this bring us all out of our parallel universes and the shadows and out into the open to share our own tall tales of caches we have encountered. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin
And thank you for the jar of cache-treasures to guess the numbers of, that was fun. Big Grin
And thank you for the raffles --- we will find very good uses for our 3 glass jars. Big Grin
We look forward to meeting again --- you never know who will pop around a corner when you are concentrating on those hints and coordinates Big Grin
Happy Caching SmileRed Face

Thanks The Lionfish's for organising the event. Really good to catch up with new and old cacher's, and the weather did play the game in the end. Excellent to see that this was NZFlossy's 2000th cache. I think I created a monster when I got her started. This is 810 for me, so I must pull my finger out - just do not have her dedication (OCD)

Thank you Lionfish for making this event happen and for your great organisational skills. TFTE.

Many thanks Lion Fish for the time and effort in bringing us together for a BBQ event. It's always good fun meeting up with our caching community. Your extra placements and little fun activities are most appreciated. You worked wonders with the weather, as the evening became very pleasant down by the harbourside. Well done NZFlossy on your 2000th find.... we like your style!

What a great time we had meeting up with new and old geo caching friends. Thanks Lionfish for going to the effort of putting up the gazebos and umbrella. The competitions and prizes made a focal point of the evening too. Now we will need to visit caches to drop off all the goodies! The after dinner treats were very yummy too, so thanks for being a great host(ess). Good to see a couple of new caches at the spot we picnicked at so thanks for those too. We ended up staying the night there in our caching caravan and met up with newly reinstated geocachers in their motor home and chatted away til well into the evening. Lovely to catch up with the rest of the local and Kawerau cachers.

Thanks again for a great day

Hi everyone. Just a quick update on tomorrow’s ‘Event’. The weather isn’t the greatest, but the Event will definitely be going ahead regardless. The forecast is for the rain to clear from 12pm tomorrow, so with a bit of luck, it will have passed over by our 3pm start time.

We have got 2 new caches ready to go… the first is a Traditional, and the other is a straight-forward short Multi. There will also be a few spot prizes, and a competition to enter.

Perhaps pack a jersey and jacket, as the wind can be rather cool down at Kulim Park in the late afternoon. See you all soon!

Contact phone number: Warren … 029-928-3360.
