What a wonderful walk out to this cache. We loved it!!Dropped a trackable in as wellMr and Mrs Wardy, Big and Little Wardys in towOn a road trip from Toowoomba Qld
Look forward to getting this for ages. Timed to meet the Low Tide at Coffs. Easy to find once there. Rolled up trousers and took of my shoes. Tftc
We were looking for a chance to find this afternoon to get us out of the house and walk off some Christmas lunch. This one was the closest, drove to the nearby carpark and set off on foot. Afternoon was lovely, gentle breeze, sunshine and very low tide. We found the cache easily enough although the log paper was a tad elusive to me....maybe a wine too many at lunch. Then we checked out the many tidal pools and bandied about ideas for earth caches. Headed back to car and onto another cache.
Despite spending plenty of time near Woolgoolga we have never been to this island. Planned for a trip at noon to coincide with the low tide, then the grandparents chickened out. Luckily some aunts and uncles were around to help herd the kids across. After all the planning and worry it was actually super easy to get across. We didn't even need to get our feet wet. Plenty of extra sand on the beaches at the moment . The hide was spotted from the beach and the kids went up for a quick find before exploring the rock pools around the island. Heaps of wildlife to be seen here.
Thanks for the cache and the motivation to visit this great place.

What a fantastic cache location this is. Bob checked this one out this morning and checked the tide table. We arranged to come up here from Coffs for this geocache as a goal in the afternoon near to low tide. We found the right road to get us as close as possible and walked up towards GZ. We were able to be entertained by the wind surfers on a perfect afternoon for them. The whole experience was wonderful and Bob puts this cache right up in the top list for favourite caches. Therefore an easy and worthily earned favourite point. Thanks for placing the cache here Grub Fred. We loved the whole adventure.
Cheers and wishing you a very Happy New Year!

Tide tables checked. GPS in hand and off we go. A very big TFTC for this one. Unfortunatley the Log is saturated and was unable to sign however a photo will be submitted.
It’s been a few weeks since it has been possible to even cross to the island so I took the opportunity of the low tide today and found it without a problem. Tftc
having some free time this afternoon i came out here at low tide and found it. lovely little island that i’ve never been too before. thanks
Well here we got to see dolfhins. And quite a few. Getting to the Island was exiting as we didnt really know how deep it would get. And could there be stingers? Sharks? But we made it. Gret fun. TFTC.
On a holiday trip “down under” with Xolanda, ZebylonElectry and the kids. Thank you for this great hide and a chance to see this place!

We continued our walk along the beach with its long stretches of wet hard sand and waves receding and allowing for impossibly run friendly terrain for the kids. We weren't sure if the tide was on its way in or out and had water to our thighs while wading so we left the kids on dry ground in case we had to swim back and got into the water with its strong currents and slippery rocks underfoot. On the other side, the cache was found immediately and we spent some time on the flat top before getting back again. While walking we noticed three doplhins playing in the crest. Magical!
Thank you Grub Fred for showing us this place. Favourite point awarded!
*For three wonderful weeks my family and I from Sweden: Tedronai, Lilla L & Lilla S and my parents Zebylonelectry travelled the east coast of Australia in a mobile home. From Port Douglas in Queensland to Sydney in New South Wales the road went with an amazing number of beautiful spots and sightseeings in between. The weather was mostly sunny with occasional tropical rain and thunder between 25-42 deg. The ocean warm and welcoming despite crocs and jellyfish. No less than three snakes were spotted in the wild. This was my first time in Australia and can't wait to get back! Thank you to all cache owners that showed us around!*

DRT and I had finished checking our stages for the WRC next weekend so came for a drive and swim on the beach. Thankfully it was low tide so we decided to grab this cache as well. We arrived at GZ and spotted the hide straight away but just had to wait for a muggle to go around the other side of the island for us to collect the cache - TFTC
Was in Woolgoolga today so thought I'd go for a run somewhere different and look for a couple of caches as well. Glad to report that I found this one. TFTC

TFTC, I happened to be in the area today on a beautiful sunny day and as a bonus, right on low tide. I parked near the beach access points at the end of Hearnes Rd and made the pleasant 10 minute beach walk to GZ for a quick find. I then went up top to admire the fantastic views, have a F.P.
Found in the company of pprass
I really liked this cache, but not just the cache the whole adventure to get there, the island itself. As you could see by pprass log we had a bit of trouble getting to the right locaton. arrived at the beach, windy, overcast and low tide (well getting there). We stated to walk towards the island , i was smart and had my thongs on, but Peter left his shoes on. The water was not quite low enough for shoes so he opt to the thongs. The water was so nice even just walking through it. we seen some windsurfers, perfect windy day for it. so we arrived at GZ, no,not here, lets go up, no not here, back down we go, ah huh there it is. Its been awhile since the cache was last found. Thanks for bring us here, really enjoyed it. TFTC Grub Fred.
Worth a FP from me

Found at 2:51 PM GAFF5 in the company of NurseHayley.
This is a great example of too many navigators telling the driver where to go and ending up having to get directions from the CO that the on board navigator still interpreted incorrectly. So it was a determined driver who blazed his way down the track again that read "Not a Public Road" and then found the access to the beach. That is when the other back seat navigator wanted the driver to stop to let the tyres down (we have had one or two incidents of being stuck in sand before), but the driver insisted that it would be alright and pushed on. The tide was half way out so we were able to easily drive on the sand and park about 230 metres from GZ where the wind was blowing a 30 knott gale! The wind surfers were loving it.
At the base of the island we were not sure whether to go up or down, so we started to go around and then realised that it was up - Hayley wanted to go up in any case for the view. We went up and then found that it was not quite right either, so we started down which is when we spotted the likely hiding spot. While we were doing all of this, c-pprass changed into her bathers and had a bit of a paddle.
Thanks Grub Fred.
Feedback: On our way back to the car, p-pprass scoured the area for nude young German girls, but could only find orbital depressions in the sand

Went 4WDing with [muggle] friends on the beach today. Stopped to climb Flat Top Rock before the tide cut us off. Found a cache whilst there.
A beautiful sunny day and low tide, so finally decided to give this one a crack. A quick find once reaching GZ. TNLN SL TFTC
Had been here before unaware of the situation and it was high tide so didn't get a look, this time checked for low tide and no problems, always good to get on an island.TFTC.Grub Fred.
There is no problem getting here if you come at low tide we were Lucy to head for this cache just at the right time. lol we had to put up with was the driving rain and cold. Burr! Found witty grumpynutcache
Mrs. Herbz noticed a cache that appeared to be in the sea, according to her phone! Well that got us intrigued. After reading the details and realising that low tide was around sunset we decided to go for a drive before dinner. We found a couple of caches along the way, of course. Once at the beach we walked along to the shortest crossing where a family were also contemplating paddling over. They confirmed for us that it was almost low tide. So we took the plunge and headed over. It wasn't too bad at all and we were soon across, fully clothed. Thanks to the hint it didn't take long to find the cache. The first finders for this year and a nice new dry log book as well. Now it's off to explore the island before the tide gets up too high. TFTC Grub Fred and another FP for the adventure.
We had this cache in our sights when we decided to go to the Coffs Harbour Get Together event. Just knowing how best to get to Flat Top Island in a 2WD camper was the thing. In the end we took a sandy beach access road and walked to the beach. We'd checked the tides earlier and it was an hour off low tide. We had lunch then set off for an easy walk to the island with water below our knees. Seagulls rule on this island! We had a really enjoyable time looking for this cache, well done on getting permission to place one here Grub Fred, a favourite point from us.
Heading North for a couple of months (Winter Migration), en route to Caloundra... Nice drive along the beach & wet feet, but found the cache in the end... Great views along here too...
Found this well hidden cache, signed log & replaced...
Thanks for the cache Grub Fred and for bringing me here... Dipped TB's...

After a nice drive on beach could not get to Island as the tide was just to high.
Drove down from Brisneyland yesterday to visit muggle mum in Woopi, and really wanted to make the walk over to the island to log this cache. We checked the tides in the local Advertiser and I took off down the beach this morning. Wet Dunlop volleys but otherwise unscached
A quick climb to look at the views from the top and then back to GZ to log this neat cache
Dropped in a trackable owned by a Brissie lass who agreed that it needed to explore New South Wales. Hope it loves this location as much as I did!
Muggle mum was waiting on the sand and I didn't even bother trying to keep my shoes and socks dry on the way back to the mainland.
Great location, TFTC Grub Fred A FAVE point from moi.

Enjoyed an easy walk alone along the beach this morning on what turns out to be a beautiful day after a rainy night and early morning. Tried out my new go pro but think batt may have gone flat. Dang. Lovely spot today. TFTC

My parents have lived in town for 15 years, and I have often thought Flat Top would be a great spot to hide a cache. Unluckily with the ban and then approval process needed for National Parks I didn't think it would be allowed in the Marine Reserve, so very glad to be proved wrong on that.
Checked the tides and figured late afternoon would be a good time to attempt this. Didn't have the 4WD this trip so made my way past the sewage works with the work Commodore to get to the parking spot before walking down to the beach.
Despite being a fair bit before low tide at 4:30 we didn't get over knee deep on the way out there (apart from waves crashing together from each side giving us some spray) so it was a fairly easy walk and I had the GPS and pen in a ziplock bag for protection, though it wasn't really needed. Anna spotted the cache quickly so the signing duties were done before we went up to the top for a look at the view. Then back to the beach to drop off the GPS etc where we had left the towels for a quick swim.
The Little Tern nesting site is still fenced off, but there were lots of little Little Terns on the beach, baby ones that would fly around looking really cute as we went past. Looks like a succesful breeding season this year. Thanks Grub Fred for an adventure.

What a top spot for cache Grub Fred...if you do not have a 4wd, closest access and parking is down High Street in Woolgoolga...just past the nursing home is a road to the right (south street on map), this goes past the sewerage treatment plant......road turns to sand but is ok...stay to the left and follow road to end..avoid deep sand at the turnaround area, there is space on harder ground to park...and walk from here...at low tide you wont get your feet wet....thanks for the new cache Grub Fred
