Logs
Took Heidi the Himalayan motorcycle for an overnight adventure, with the primary purpose to cache out the seaward side of SH1 south of Rakaia to the Ashburton River. Day one consisted of literally hundreds of kilometers of country roads, many of which were unsealed gravel, dusty in the dry Canterbury farmland. Fields as far as the eye can see, sprinkled with occasional flocks of sheeps and herds of cows and the odd piece of farm machinery doting the landscape. That night was spent at Hakatere Campsite, a neat little unattended patch of grass on the side of a dead-end road right on the coast. An evening spent lounging in my hammock I always take camping, then retiring to my tent for a sleep before rising like the Undead to consume several coffees and continue my mid-week weekend mission.Sadly, on this trip I was unable to find the cache. But I'll be sure to bring ThatDarnBear next time for a second set of skillful eyes.
Continuing south today, and pulled in safely off the main road. Once I spotted the likely spot it was a quick find a couple of meters away from where the GPS was pointing, TFTC
Trouve ! / Found it ! Je cherchai bien trop loin quand je l'ai aperu 5172me cache trouve.Merci N!mrod pour la cache I looked way too far when I saw it 5172th cache found.Thank you N!mrod for the cache
After 10 years of driving past, we finally made the effort to pull over and grab this one! It was a quick find. TFTC.
A quickish find on a road trip south and west. I had to widen the net from where the GPS sent me just a smidgen and when I spotted the hide it was obvious. TFTC
I tried to get to this cache on my way to CHCH but the traffic was very heavy. A quick find thanks.
Finally got this cache. Normally traffic is too busy when I am driving past. Today I parked in a safe place and walked back to quickly sign the logbook
Worked out the synonym and found easily tftc.
Very fast and dangerous road not easy to pull over in traffic, be very careful with any little ones!

Day 2 on our holiday in New Zealand. On the way from Christchurch to Twizel, we also visited this traditional cache, searched the box, found it, and signed the logbook.

Have driven past this cache many times, usually without time too stop or muggles not wanting to pick up another png. It wasn't quite a png and the road was very busy. Figured the hint after being stumped for awhile. And then still couldn't locate the cache, Not sure how I missed it once I spotted it . Only travelling to Ashburton this afternoon so will pick up a few more
Thanks Nimrod for the cache

I have wanted to look for this one for ages but hubby not keen to stop! Today I was driving back from Christchurch on my own so decided if I had no traffic behind me at the time I would stop, which I did.
I must admit I wasn’t sure of the hint but found the cache after looking in some likely spots someone has put the paper in a pill container inside the cache so now dry. TFTC

Heading South for Christmas... That's all the excuse I need to do a couple one the way. Cheers. Found it... But don't get the hint. Still, a find is a find....
This took us a little while, until we hit upon the synonym, which described the state we were in for the first 5 minutes. TFTC!
Found it without needing to figure out the hint. Signed a piece of paper that had been thoughtfully put in by someone else, but the bag is ripped, so a little maintenance could be done if the CO is going past at some stage. TFTC.
Today Mrs Biggles and I are driving from Christchurch to Dunedin. Our purpose was to attend our daughter's graduation tomorrow. Unfortunately the ceremony has been cancelled due to terrorist threats. What a world we live in! Anyway, we still had some time to find a few caches along the way. This was the first one we came to. Found it after a bit of a search where I took in my surroundings and noticed a couple of features of interest. TFTC, Biggles.
Down to work in Oamaru. Landed this afternoon in Christchurch for a leisurely drive and cache through to Oamaru.
Found the cache but as previous cacher log the Log book is soaked. I just managed to get the date and name onto the log paper.

Found during our trip to Dunedin. Very little time to stop, so glad it was a quick find. Still don't understand the hint, though. The plastic bag is split and wet, and the paper also wet, but we were able to write on it. TFTC.
The plastic bag is split, with water inside. The paper with geocaching information is also wet, but we were able to write on that, as there was no separate log sheet.
I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

I was driving down to Ashvegas today to help my mother-in-law with her garden. Travelling alone... how could I *not* grab a few caches on the way?
This was a VERY easy find as it was sitting in the open, next to the hint item.
I managed to sign the log, but only because I had my fancy powertank pen. There was a lot of moisture in there and the log is soaked. Sadly I didn't have spares this trip. Hopefully the next finder or CO can replace the log and bag.

Welcome break from SH1. Didn't figure out the hint but still found it. Thanks from Germany!
On holiday in ChCh (Ashburton) for the weekend with darkangel so we decided to join the local Ashburton ianfr on what turned out to be an 11 hour adventure through Thompson's Track and around town, in an attempt to collect 100 caches in a day. We'd all always wanted to do it, and we saw a perfect opportunity to try. What we got to around 80 before we hit a brick wall and soon could only log DNF's, but thankfully and eventually, we hit the milestone in the end! Signed all logs today as Team DIM. #2 on 13/01/18.
An epic day out with darkangel10151 and MikefNZ on a mission to find 100 cache in a day, Pleased to say that made it

Quick stop heading home from Christchurch. No muggles about today which made for an easy find. TFTC
In Christchurch for the weekend with my partner and while she is doing a 2 day course I came up with her as it is the perfect time to log lots of caches and try to log 2000 before next year. TFTC sadly I did find this one. But the dog next door made lots of noise while I was there.
Love the hint, and the location is great - nice break in the boring drive... TFTC
Visiting from Brisbane with Slow Puncture for the Oamaru Geofest, and we're seeing all the wonderful sights the South Island has to offer as we travel along. Day 2: After 1 night in Christchurch we rolled on down to Oamaru for the event, finding plenty of caches (and cachers ) along the way.
Thanks for the hunt **N!mrod**, this find makes #4229. Discover our TB

Thanks for placing the cache.
A nice quick find in the first place I looked - shame about all of the rubbish in the area. TFTC
Yesterday StreetWalkerNZ and I decided to attended this afternoon's Ashburton CITO, and make a day of it, caching in Rakaia and Ashburton.
We have driven past this cache several times, so at last get the chance to stop and look. Stopped a bit too early (there was a car not far behind, so couldn't dither too much as I neared GZ), so we had to walk the last 60m or so to the cache. I was thinking that this area too needed a CITO, so we decoded the hint for a quick find. TFTC.

Walked past 1st time looking in wrong direction!
I'm on a 5 day caching trip in the south island. Have a few aims - Complete the Eclipse series out near Kirwee, and pick up a few specific caches that I need to complete my grid for a challenge - of finding at least one cache that was placed every month since geocaching was invented. 1800km later I can say I've accomplished my aim!

Stopped in a reasonable location and then headed towards gz. Smell was a bit high and I was worried what I might find but nothing too close to the roadway thank goodness. But somewhere in those trees nearby they are definitely used for a toilet. Lots of rubbish around so didn't spend too long here as gps was playing up - maybe next time once I've sorted out what is going on with gps - was fully charged too.

At World’s End – New Zealand – One of our dream become true.
Our plan was to stay 4 weeks in New Zealand. But this wasn’t this easy to manage at work. So we moved spontanic the plan from march to november. We informed us before about point of interessts. The list was this long so we decided to go by campervan from the north to the south to have the most mobility. We arrived after way to much hours in Auckland and started there our round trip. At first we enjoyed the area in auckland and the north. In Waitomo we were able to see and enjoy glohworms in one of the famous caves. But this area had a lot of nice hiking trails were we could discovered the Piripiri Caves, Natural Bridge and the Marokopa Falls. This was already impressive to see and still the beginning of our adventure for life. The trip went on over Okere Falls Scenic Reserve direction Rotorua. In this area we enjoyed each hour, because each corner was different. We visited the Haumurana Springs – what amazing water -, Blue Lake and Green Lake and relaxed in Kerosene Creek. We liked all the water and in our travel guide we found a hike cloth to the Huka Falls, which ofcourse we did as well. All this flowers were bloom. One oft the Highlights was Wai-O-Tapu. The weather was perfect and all this colors awesome and the geysir a nice shower. By Campercan the to tour went on direction Tongariro Alpine with a short stop at Orakei Korako and the Tongariro River Loop Track. Lu like nice hiking tours and what could be the best for her birthday? Of course the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We started early in the morning and walked approximately 9 hours over gras, stones, snow and colorful water. Now we had to leave the Heart of North New Zealand and went over Taranaki Falls to the East Coast with the goal Napier. The weather was cloudy and often raining but a small sightseeing was a must have. The last stop on the North Irland was Wellington. But it was only raining and some streets were already flooded. That’s why we change spontanic our plan and only did the First Cache of New Zealand and went by ship over the Marlboro Sound to Picton. We went over Farewell Spit to the lonely Wharariki Beach with sea lions. On the way back to the big streets we stopped at Waikoropupu Spring and Janie Sesson Shipwreck and drove untypical to Karamea. In Germany we do not have this much and public caves and that’s way we enjoyed this area! Cloth to the West Coast we took a look at the Pancake Rocks. The weather was just raining and so we could not see the Franz Josef and Fox Glacier, but we still visited them. We leaved the bad weather in the hills and enjoyed the Sun at Ship Creek, Thunder Creek, Fantail Falls and the Blue Pools. Wow they were relly blue and this clean and deep. I never saw something similar before. About Wanaka we read a lot in our travel guide and looked forward to it. There arrived we visited the Puzzling World and walked around the sea. Queenstown the next town we drove just through because at this time there was a marathon and it was really campervan unfriendly. So we used the time and drove to Milford Sound and enjoyed the hills surround us on the water. I never felt this small. After we are landed again on land the trip goes on to the Chasm and Clifden Caves and the Clifden Suspension Bridge. Wow what an adventure. At the end we visited a few cities like Bluff, Duneding, Moeraki Boulders and Christchurch were our Trip sadly ends.
At all this places we looked for nice and unique caches which shows us places which we never would had seen without. We enjoyed the nature and wildlife each day and it was really an adventure for life. At the end we drove approximately 5000 kilometeres and felt this relaxed.
Thanks to all owners for placing this caches and this much informations which we got about the particular areas. This was an adventure for life for us. Thanks for this beauty time.

A quick find heading towards Ashburton this afternoon. I realised the meaning of the hint as I approached. Signed log, TFTC.
Managed to park close and closed in on GZ quickly thinking what on earth the clue meant. Spotted something and everything fell into place. Glad the hide was reasonably well concealed from the road. Good hint in the end for a nice easy find.
Found this one as we were traveling south to Dunedin for a friend's birthday. Traffic wasn't busy and we pulled off to the side of the road for a quick grab. TFTC!
We were heading down to Dunedin for the weekend and decided to make this one of the caches we'd get on the way. We pulled into a driveway and walked back to the cache. We made a quick find, signed off and headed off on our journey. Tftc.

What hey! Found on the way back from the speedway in the dark under torchlight . Cheers
I came over to New Zealand to meet my son, who is staying now for more than five months on the other side of the world. Our intension is, to travel now for 4 weeks through this fantastic land and visiting a lot of fine spots on both islands.
Met in Auckland, our first trip led us to the Far North with some spectacular locations. It was a lot of driving, but we think, it was worth the result.
The second part of our travelling route led us to the south. Going via Hamilton with some fine locations, Hobbiton was an absolutely must of our "unexpected journey" . Went then to Tauranga with a hard upclimb to Mt. Maunganui, visited Rotorua to see lot of vulcanic activities, have had a lot of fun with Zorbing and Claybird shooting and drove then to Taupa, to doing Skydiving.
Here we go: Napier with it's beautiful Art Deco district and the great Aquarium was the next stop.
Final destination on the North Island was Wellington, were we visited some great places and met some friends from Germany.
After crossing Cook Strait now we will follow the east side of the southern island down to the most southern point of New Zealand.
Blenheim with its wine yards, fantastic dolphin watching in Kaikoura, the story of earthquake in Christchurch, following the famous coastline down to Dunedin with its beautiful and interesting places as well as the nice city of Invercargill were our main spots on this part of our journey.
Of course, even if it is not our main activity during this holidays, we will looking for some caches, which are laying beside our route.
So this cache was one of those, we've picked up.
Many thanks to N!mrod for this fine cache and best greetings from Germany.
