We are spending a few days in Point Lonsdale for our Anniversary and today we have come into Queenscliff to have a look at caches around here. After spending some time on a WP of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, we headed into Queenscliff for more caches. This one got the better of us, we hunted around for a while but no luck. We were getting hungry for lunch by now so headed off with full intentions of coming back another day but that didnt eventuate .... next time!
Second attempt to find this, read previous logs and had an idea of what I was looking for. When aha I went a little further to the left and found it. Bigger than what I expected. Thanks for the cache Phetlern
**Sun, 21 Jul - 15:20**Cache checked and returned to intended resting spot.NOTE: It is a DR3.0 placement.**DIFFICULTY 3.0:**Somewhat challenging puzzle or hiding spot.
Three of us here and we still came to empty handed! Check out this pelican tho
Found with baristayan and buckoraider on another brief footy, family and friends trip to Melbourne and Geelong. Wowee this was a toughie. It's definitely there! We spent ages looking around and had to admit defeat but then baristayan surprised us with a hint from the CO, after she had messaged them without telling us! Sneaky by baristayan, but a much appreciated maneuver. Upon return, it still took a few minutes to finally uncover it. An evil hide. Amazing views from here, the water and hills are very peaceful. TFTC!
This was such a tough find!I think the plants in the area are growing and making this cache more difficult every year. We first Dnf the cache only to come back with a nudge from the CO.Our suspicions were confirmed when we saw the installation of this cache. We were looking for the right object but could figure out which one.All Ill say to future finders is that it resembles a bit a pyramid. I meant, I think it does. But maybe thats just my interpretation.
Woohoo, managed to avenge this one after a friendly hint from the CO!Failed in the first instance but injected some persistence to spring its existence. Mr Geelong (his words) aka Toyhunters made the find. Thanks for such an awesome cache!Psapologies for the one word log on the previous cache of yours we found. Didnt have that draft toggle activated as it turned out!
Had a good look today and was my 2nd attempt. Still no luck. Not sure I have the patience for 52 rock pickup
What a cache to finish the part of this trail that we did with!!Was it easy? NODid it take a long time? YESWe looked and looked and decided to ride back to the van and check out previous logs. The main clue that we got from doing that was that the coordinates were very accurate. So back we went and spent some time waiting for the ETrek to give us GZ. Then within seconds Mr Beetle had this brilliantly crafted cache in hand. Thanks so much Phetlern for this cache and the others that we have done of yours in the area. The quality of the hides was exceptional and they were a pleasure to find.We would love to come back one day and complete this series.
While over this way visiting friends in Freshwater Creek had to get some caching done as well. This afternoon it was the G2Q (Geelong to Queenscliff) Rail Trail, had brought the Ebike along to assist. Drove over to the Queenscliff end, unloaded the bike and started looking and riding towards Geelong. Didn't get as far as hoped before it was time to return to the car to get back in time for dinner. Thoroughly enjoyed the variety of hides, some of which took longer than expected to find, and am looking forward to getting back sometime to complete the series.I HATE ROCKS.Spent more time than I wanted, hopefully didn't attract too much muggle interest, left with my hate for rocks increased. But would like to come back sometime and make the find. Thanks for the hunt Phetlern*This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).*****SAs Leap Year Event GCA1DNA - keep the date free - 29th February 2024. Cant wait!!****
My five minute rule kicked in here, so I moved on before finding this nicely hidden cache.
Down in Queenscliff for a weekend break with my family... and after lunch it was time to start heading home... except for me! I had 8 more caches to find in Queenscliff so I could cross off the Borough for the WCW - The 80/20 Rule Challenge. With plenty of caches along the G2Q Rail Trail to choose from, I was back for more... although this one nearly wasn't to be. Looking for micro in a field of rocks isn't my idea of fun... I turned over a few rocks and was about to walk away when one last rock had what I was looking for...
Thanks **Phetlern** for the cache and the series.

Checked and cache is still there, although not where we had originally placed it, but very close. Returned to correct position - coordinates are good.

In Queenscliff to meet one E of iTEEM who had been to a wedding in Sorrento today and was returning on the last ferry.
This was our last find after meeting up at the ferry terminal, before heading back to Werribee.
A good few fishers here, but they were busy pulling boats out of the water.
I thought this might be a longer search given the D rating, but with a fair idea of the type of hide we were looking for, I had the cleverly concealed container in hand in a remarkably short time.

OM check - cords all good and cache is definitely in position and waiting to be found. Note - the DR is 2.5, even though the cache is virtually visible, you just have to look.

On site inspection indicates that reconstruction work is being undertaken on the sea wall including where the cache is located - new cache will be required eventually.
Expect the cache to be off-line for 6 months - till end of November.

Following the last couple of logs we have disabled this one until the coast is clear.
Had a good clamber around and when deciding to head back to the car I noticed something that seemed a little too convenient.
Sure enough, cache found, signed and replaced.
Thank you!

My last day on the road and I think the universe was ready for me to head home as the car started playing up and I found out my pocket queries didn't download correctly. Had to resort to using the phone which sucked and meant I only got 7 caches today.

Day trip out while on holidays visiting muggle friends. Geoboy fell into the water while searching. Geomum found it. Favourite point from us. Cache in good order. TFTC
Parked close. Took photos. Sat on the rocks for a while. Lots of people with boats today out and out. I expected waves, but there aren't any here. Wouldn't want to swim here. Tftc.
Super cool hide! Definitely our favourite for the day. Proud to say that we spotted this in little time because it’s quite tricky. TFTC
Very cool hide! I i had my hand on it then went to search elsewhere before coming back and finding it. A great aha moment
Nice camo, was out for the day with team tackt a quick find before getting the ferry home
One of the best caches I've found. Loved it. Beautiful spot too. No pen in my bag so kinda, sort left initials with bright pink lipstick. I'll send you a pic to prove I saw it. TFTC.
Had a good look around but this one has defeated me, my GPS was jumping all about and there was alot of sea grass on the rocks and plenty of little crabs about. Will be back another day for another look.
TFTC. Silly geodad said this looks like it would be a good spot without looking properly, then geokid said I found it!
Thanks to the log entry of the previous finder we had a fair idea what we are looking for. And yes, there it was.
Thanks for another well done cache.
Thanks for another well done cache.
We had had a magnificent morning snorkelling at Chinamans Hat and Pope's Eye with seals and various fish. It is incredible to think that in the middle of Port Phillip Bay, you can swim in water only a couple of meters deep with beautiful pristine sand below you. We gained a greater appreciation for the beautiful part of the world we live in, and as, a bonus we saw a small pod of dolphins as we neared the Queenscliff Harbour. Once we had shed the wetsuits and donned some nice warm clothes, we needed a bit of a walk, and Queenscliff is an excellent place for a wander when the weather is this great. We had a quick lunch at the nearby brewhouse and a lovely paddle of beers. A short wander from the Brewhouse is this lovely spot. On the way to the spot, we had to stop for the steam train Pozieres. There were plenty of muggles around as it appears the fishing is good. We must say that the camo on this cache is very good, blends into the surrounding so well. Thank you phetlern for this cache.
Great little spot whilst the Blues Train was playing behind and keeping the muggles entertained. Found GZ pretty easily going from the satellite view & what looked like a very common cache hide. Hubby picked it up & we applaud your camo on a very well made geocache
Best one if the day so far!
Great spot great hide! Great Camo!
Really appreciate when cache owners go the extra mile!

Lol some days and interesting. Some days seem to go quick and easily and some days go slow and difficult to navigation. Much like geocaching some caches go quick and easily and some go slow and difficult, even the easy ones
I have had quite a interesting history with this cache and not afraid to admit it had beating me on several occasions. I have no idea why today l was able to walk up to quick and find it so easily as apposed to all the others times l had come down here and was a slow and difficult times.
I am happy to say that l can finally put a smiley face on this one as its been a long time coming starting way back in 2016 when l did the big #cache366. I had even bookmarked this one to be my 10 year cache back in 2018 but hadnt realised the dates when booking a holiday and was actually up in Sydney at the time.
Fav Point for me as its been a very memorable cache for me

While staying with a friend in Point Lonsdale, I took a drive down to have a look at some boats. Obviously, I had to check if there were any caches nearby, and this was very close. I searched for a few minutes and then started over. Having a second look at something I had passed over, I took a more serious look and Voila, the cache was in hand.
I soon had the log signed, and the cache rehidden. Thanks Phetlern. I'll have to come down and do the full rail trail.

I don’t believe it, I thought we would be here for hours but the first stone I touched was Bingo.

Out for a bike riding caching day with Kia1 around the Lonsdale Queenscliffe area. Turned out a good day for it .
Covered some old territory and new.
Thankyou for the cache and the challenge. Cheers. Another sharp eyed find by Kia1

Enjoyed a couple of hours wandering around Queenscliff today and ducked down from the town to find this cache. Roved the area for a few minutes until I came to the correct spot... I’ve seen this type of hide before and it’s always so effective. Overall it was pretty quick and not too many people around to dodge. Nice to have a find in this pretty town and hopefully one day I’ll return to do more of the rail trail. (I was with a noncaching friend today.) TFTC and the fun.
Arrived in Queenscliff today just in time for our family Christmas. There was just enough time this arvo to pop out and pick up a few quick caches.

After having a lovely meal at the local we had a couple more finds to tidy up the area, for a nice night there were few fisher folk around and we were able to make a quick find.
We didn't know that you could fish this area and had we known earlier in the trip we may have stopped in to throw line in.

#3847 Our first visit to Queenscliff in many many years and first since caching. Having scored an icecream in town we wandered down to this spot on a speccy day to enjoy. Mr BGF perused the area for the cache and found a likely spot but then dismissed it only to return 5 minutes later to make the find... TFTC Phetlern, you nearly outsmarted us here! .
Found after the lunch event. Impressed by the work that went into this hide-and the water views with the pelicans-so giving this a favourite. TFTC
Found with friends after the Queenscliff lunch event. Lots of pelicans around today plus boats! Nice little hide. TFTC
Found today after the Christmas lunch meet event. A fairly quick find today once the gps settled. TFTC
Found after the Christmas event today, nice spot and lots of pelicans around. TFTC
After the Christmas lunch event in Queenscliff I thought I’d try to find just one more cache in the town before moving on. This is located in a busy corner of the town, but everyone seemed bent on their own business of putting boats into water, or pulling them out or parking cars with boat trailers. As we approached GZ someone was crouched on the ground near a bush. It turned out to be Riddell! I got there before he’d returned the cache to its home. I signed the log and returned it to its home under supervision of Riddell to insure that it was put back in the right place.
A quick and easy find on a beautiful afternoon drive around the area before the CITO just up the road.
