Man alive! The flies up here are huge. And they bite. There are hundreds of them. Surprisingly we could hear trucks rumbling below in the quarry, dogs barking sounds of city life and yet we felt like we were in the middle of the bush. The poor grasstree at gz has met its demise but still able to host a cache. It seems non-cachers have found the cache and signed the logbook too (May 2024). Thank you.
Today I took advantage of the Nambour show holiday and made a last-minute decision to tackle Kenilworth Bluff. Solo, but undeterred by the hazardous terrain, I scaled the shortcut and bush bashed across the entire bluff and made it back off the mountain just after sunset. Bruised, beaten, lost at least twice, but victorious nonetheless. My final find for the day as the afternoon began to reach its end. I looked around for a good while, thinking I may have to go down a bit, but I spotted the cache well tucked away and in a safe spot. Though it appears the tree that the hint refers to is gone. Either, way, I am chuffed to clear out all the caches on top of the bluff! Have a FP for this great spot here, thanks dahumbug!
That last few minutes getting to GZ might just be my favourite section of the whole walk. The little rock scramble up and around, seemingly on the edge, and the knowledge that you were finally at the top is cause for celebration. We actually walked past the cache and nearly forgot it was there! Good thing we stopped chatting to take photos and then remembered. Found quicker than expected and was little relieved at its location. Unfortunately we forgot to log the adlab waypoint here, we were so engrossed in the moment, but due to some intel we were able to get by without it.
The sister cache to a multi up here.
This was found not in the order intended..
I hopped a jetski right to gz, yahoo that was fun.
But then, was it really as I did have the coords from the other cache up here.
Perhaps it's just the order that involved watersports.
Thanks dahumbug for hiding caches in pretty places.
Found on an awesome day out with atthelakehouse.

I had organised an Event at the top of the stairs, more than a month ago now. The CO kindly acted as Tour Guide on Bug’s Bluff for those of us who were keen enough, or crazy enough, to climb, hike, scramble and slide our way up, around and down Bug’s Bluff. On the day, we found all of the caches on the bluff, plus there were two other planted created while we were there.
At GZ, someone kicked something…a cache! Who’d have thought! The log was signed Duppers M&Ms.
Thanks for a great day, Bug

It was a magic day for me from the first step on the grassed area going downhill to the last one coming up that hill 8.5 hours later.
Worth a magic fav point.
Finally I made it up the Kenilworth Bluff - as a part of the group Dupper'sM+Ms when we took off after the Magic Maker Event.
It was a long day getting to all those finals, the waypoints inbetween and putting out new caches. It took about 8 hours from leaving at the carpark to get back there: up and down, up and down, again and again. But I made it.

With the coords loaded from Blind Mans Bluff we arrived at GZ and were standing looking around when the cache was spotted just a metre from where we were. Another of my favourite containers! All good with this one, log signed and replaced as found. Thanks dahumbug for the interesting time we had on the top here today.
Teamed up with Janet (janetwil) today to make an ascent on Kenilworth Bluff. The weather started foggy/misty but soon cleared to beautiful blue skies. I wasn't sure how I would get on with this hike after reading previous logs as it appeared quite a challenge. We took the long route round which I managed ok.
Wandered around for a while and then Janet realized we were nearly stood on it. TFTC dahumbug

Having sound “ Blind Man’s Bluff “ as we arrived near the top, we were able to collect this one on our return.
It was a long day out, and we passed no one along the Trail at all, which I guess is hardly surprising given the sense of remoteness of the Trail. We were grateful for the pink ribbons as we made our final ascent, even though some of them are now faded to orange or even white.
Thanks Dahumbug

Certainly another beautiful way point and location on bugs mountain.
Such beautiful sites/ views along the way
Even saw a quarry from up on the bluff which I didn't even know was there...
Kungfuchickendingo took photos for me.
Another good cache by bugs

Obviously someone in our team had noted down the coordinates for this one from Blind Man's Bluff and group made the find in a very precarious location. We found ourselves on this very narrow ridge with deadly drop offs on both sides. Luckily we were all sure footed enough to not need the use of Davidwazza's ropes. It was somewhere around here that this cache was located. Not much room to gather around but the group signing was done by those closest as Bug's bugs, our team name for the day.
From here we ascended following a very loose goat track, made less dangerous with the conveniently placed trees to grab onto on the way down. I nearly abandoned by grass tree spike that had lasted me the last few hours as a wizard style walking staff but managed to hang on to it in between the slipping and sliding. Then there were calls from below that we had missed the turn off and had to retreat back up - luckily we were at the back so the uphill part was less for us than some others. Around the cliff edge and found the barely marked track, just a thin ledge below the cliffs to follow single file. We made slow progress and had to cross a few landslips with rubble strewn around. Dahumbug reminded us that at least we only had to do this bit on the way back, thanks to his vertical shortcut earlier on. A few of us started to fade along this patch, needing more rests, water, electrolytes and more jelly lollies. We all struggled on helping each other along the way. The light was getting dimmer as we descended further down into the forest, crossing the creeks again up to the picnic area where I realised both my shoe soles were now blown, so I had to walk the rest of the way as if I had flippers on. Some of us were a bit delirious by this point, where dahumbug was trying to explain Slater's Telegraph code to me and I was just too tired to think. We wobbled down the stairway in the further fading light as this last trek from this cache to the end took about 2 and a half hours. Just when we thought it would be an easy crawl back to the cars, we found ourselves at the uphill field walk right at the end and had to find some last bastion of energy to make it there. I left my pole at the fence corner to hopefully help another trekker next time.
It was a huge day and a great expedition, so glad to finally have the opportunity to visit with a group and tour guide. We farewelled each other, some having a very long drive home ahead of them. It was a great team for the day - dahumbug, Davidwazza, Brislions, Snickersallen, Flutterbysquishy & kungfuchicken, Green Geckoes & Muggle65 and 2 of us. My records showed that we travelled 8.62km, with 662m elevation gain in just over 8hrs.
We had less than an hour drive so were one of the closest & popped in to Mapleton hotel for dinner on the way home. They turned a blind eye to our dishevelled state and my flipper shoes....

Kenilworth Bluff time. This climb has been on the list for quite sometime. So crew today were Snickersallan, The Green Geckos, Muggle65, Davidwazza, spiderwebbs4, FlutterbySquishy, and the special guest Dahumbug.
I had a good chat with everyone, we all had lots of fun today. It was a big walk and I was bit sore at the finish.
So today we had two cacher finish a loop. The Green Geckos 16th and Dahumbug 14th. For me I found my 7000 yippee.
My haul today was 13. The breakdown was 4 mystery, 2 wherigo, 2 multi, 2 letterbox, 2 traditional and the event.

Today, the primary plan was the hike up Kenilworth Bluff. An early departure had me driving via Montville, detouring past the northern side of Lake Baroon to check out the spillway. I then made a few driveby stops before arriving and setting off on our group hike and attending the *A Worthy Bluff Bug Bash* Event. It was a long walk around the bluff's plateau to the extent of the nature reserve, before returning back just as the light began to fade. I then made the drive back home connecting to the M1 highway via Gheerulla, following the quickest route.
The Kenilworth Bluff hike consisted of Brislions, dahumbug, FlutterbySquishy, kungfuchickendingo, Muggle65, Snickersallan, spiderwebbs4, THE GREEN GECKOS and I, and we departed around 09:15 hr from the car park, and arrived back around 17:30 hr, so it turned out to be an epic/long day. My statistics recorded the total distance of 12.3 km, covering an elevation of 646 m. I was nervous about the previous days' weather in the region, however the forecasts were correct with it clearing up over Friday evening, and we had good hiking weather all day today. We also had some terrific views from the bluff, having full 180 degree views across the valleys and hills/mountains. We took the Bug shortcut up, which turned out to be a great route, and then continued along the bluff following loose trails north-west to the nature refuge's boundary, before proceeding back, and then taking the defined track down skirting around the bluff. There had been a few washouts and landslides since dahumbug had previously hiked up here, which meant it was slow going returning back. Highlights within the group included Brislions' 7000th fine, and D-T loops gained by dahumbug (14th loop) and THE GREEN GECKOS (16th loop). Unfortunately, FlutterbySquishy's phone was a casualty early on as she attempted to follow the Wherigo adventure. A detailed search and endless phone calls failed to unearth it, and it became a sacrifice to the Bluff. Overall a great but tiring day out!
Coordinates for this cache were rescued out of [GC4V4QB Blind Mans Bluff](https://coord.info/GC4V4QB), and we then managed to detour past this cache whilst we made our way down. This spot was probably one of my favourite spots on the mountain given the razorback nature. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and FlutterbySquishy rescued a TB from this container. We signed the logbook as "Bug's Bugs" in order to save space. Thanks dahumbug for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. A Favourite Point given its location!

This was definitely the area to watch where your feet go rather than trying to take in the view. So happy we got a sunny day that made the most of the views. Thank you for the guided tour
Signing as the Bug’s Bugs we are now starting the decent. Along the razor back we go as we start downward. It’s alway a different experience facing outward admiring the view while concentrating on where I put my feet.
A walk on Bugs Bluff has been on the to do list for some time. At least a few things lined up and the weather was ok too. From the road the right of way for the trail was seen spotted and down the long grass we went. Certainly a lot of water has been through the area as can be seen from the photo of the car in the creek or is that the alternative waypoint for the parking co-ords. A 4.5h round trip which should have been done a little fast but work calls had me over shooting by a few hundred meters for some caches at times. A bit of wild life around and great views up top.
It took a little to spot the way up when leaving the track but once far enough off the track a new one appeared. Some loose items on the way up but soon the top was reached. Nice short cut. . We completed the signing duties as we took in the view.
A fav pt

I quite enjoyed climbing that Little Rock wall! It looked a bit scary from the bottom but an easy ascent with good steps I surprised myself which is always a good feeling TFTC!
With coords in hand we managed to track back a little and grab this one! I searched so many spots!!! TFTC
Coordinates noted and all we had to do was make our way there for the prize ... and then make it back.
I had my eye on this cache for a while - it fills a challenge spot for me. It turned out collecting it was a lot more exhausting than I expected! TFTC.
Many thanks to Ardom and Jacs teams for leading in the right direction. Thankyou for the cache.
Last of 10 for the day.
From Mountain of Backlog, I made the mistake of following the compass needle straight in the direction of the next cache. But it quickly led me too far to the left – and down quite steeply. Tip: if you find yourself heading down, stay further to the right before bending around to GZ on top of the ridgeline later on.
No trouble getting my hands on the container and log. And then it was onto my rear end for the slow slide down the very dry, dusty and slippery slope from the plateau.
It was great getting to know the Bluff and its caches – I look forward to returning. Thanks for all the hard work that went into these, dahumbug!

This find nearly ended in tradegy as the cache may have been dropped by a certain cacher. After a few bounces it was grabbed just prior to disappearing forever over the edge. As the saying goes. All’s well that ends well.
Shame about the rain and cloud coverage as I imagine the views from here would be amazing.

After the letterbox cache this seemed like a little battle to get to this one with some of the group even nearly missing it altogether. Would have had awesome views if not for the rain and oh so close to the edge was a bit scarey too, best we not drop this ammo can which we nearly did in fact! Nice puzzle with the info gained from the multi, good one CO and another favorite point from me today

Flippen heck! What an adventure getting to this location. And then all these edgy steep climby down bits. I was at a 9/10 on my 'afraid of heights' scale as we all paused to find this cache. Apparently it was just a metre or two from where I was perched, trying to regain my equilibrium, but I wasn't in the err right frame of mind to try and find it. Besides, that's what a team is for, hey!
The cache signing duties were completed and I thanked the universe for the clouds that were blocking the view from the "mini nope"... a mini razorback, for which visibility would have probably had me adjusting my fear scale further out. Not sure how you get past 10 out of 10 on a scale though. Luckily that wasn't needed and once we were moving again I felt much better.
I'm told it's a shame there was cloud as it is the best place for views. Hmmm sorry not sorry?!
This was a fabulous challenge and I really enjoyed it. Thanks dahumbug, for bringing us up (and back down) from this awesome Bluff. Gee I dropped a stack of FPs up here!

The Kenny Krew braved the pouring rain going to this cache. I was literally dripping, not sure if it was sweat or the downpour or both. I so wanted to go home now, have a warm shower or hot bath, can't really decide, I have another 3 hours of driving to do that, no choice of actually turning back now, we are heading back to the car anyway.
Love the mini razorback. Took lots of photos and videos as usual but missed catching Karicka almost dropping the ammo. Grateful for the 'not white boi' for preventing the cache roll down the cliff!
Dropped the last tb from my pocket. Pretty sure another hard core cacher will pick it up ... one day.
Thanks for the cache and guidance dahumbug. Enjoyed the hike just the same, the rain didn't actually bother me, I'm used to having a monsoon shower back when I was a child. Great times!

With the raining dripping onto the crew thoughts were turning to the warm dry clothes in the car and with that there was another cry that we had overshot this. But this time the overshoot was just metres .
Those that were closest went in for the grab and our names were signed into the log. Waiting patiently for the go ahead to move on there was a rumble from above. It was thunder but a cache that almost went wayward .
With all returned it was time to continue in down and down. The rain kept falling but it wasn’t too much longer before we were back the cars cheering a truly great day on bluff, thanks humbug for the placement of all these hides.

An event was called to hike this mountain and surprisingly quite a big number of parties showed interest.
Off we went for a 7 hour adventure. The CO was a great tour guide for the day and put a few extra surprises up for us. Even the rain couldn't stop us having fun all way long.
Thanks for a great day hike and excellent caches!

The Kenny Krew was wet and getting cold as we found this cache.
I enjoyed going down the razorback here, pity that it was a whiteout.
Funny detail: the cache almost slipped out of my hands as I was about to replace it, that would have been a long and difficult rescue mission!
Thank you dahumbug for not only hiding these but also being our guide for the day

I joined my first geocaching group hike today and it was a good hike to join! Collected all 9 caches on Kenilworth Bluff, covering almost 10kms. The day started off overcast but dry and we could see the top of the bluff from the car park. Good thing we took a photo at the start because by the end it was covered in clouds we were all pretty wet!
It was a tough start climbing over 300 stairs but then descending again once we reached the top! We trudged along, up and down and then scrambled our way up the rocks to the top. Once up the walk along the top was pretty good, a bit of bush bashing here and there but we had some good views early in the walk before the clouds rolled in and covered them up.
The climb down the ridge line was interesting as the rain started about half way through the walk and made the rocks wet. Slipping and sliding we all made it down in one piece!
It was a great day out with great people and it was good to tick off some more spots in my D/T grid. A massive thanks to the CO who has put a great range of caches on the mountain and for guiding us along the way.
A bit hairy going along the ridge line in the wet. Unfortunately it was a white out so we didn’t get any views here. We perched on the edge while the log was signed. Time to begin the climb down!

A very early 3 am start and it's raining on the Gold Coast. Should we pull the pin? Fortunately, the Goldy Girls are all as mad as each other and before long we were heading north, picking up a very brave Roddy C along the way. Coffee in hand, we kept checking the BOM and wondering if anyone else had chickened out due to the weather.
Surprisingly, by the time we arrived at Kenilworth, we had outrun the rain and the bluff loomed over as as we prepared for our adventure. Arriving at the first lot of "stairs", we asked hopefully, is that it? haha, who were we kidding.. I don't think we'll forget the real "stairs" in a hurry, although I think decending them in the rain was much harder than climbing them on fresh legs. My count was 328, but some of the steps were questionable so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called them steps, if 325 makes it sound easier to climb... that's how many there were. Oh... and CO promised a red frog for counting the steps and I am still waiting.... jussayin!
No problem locating this one, group signed because after climbing up here.... we're allowed to be lazy (I think anyway)
Overall, it was great fun, the rain eventually rolled in and we all ended up drowned rats but that just adds to the adventure. Thanks for the caches

I was invited along on today's outing by fellow cacher's, Orange Crew, Chamad and CO Dahumbug who would be carrying out some maintenance and checking in, on his cache's.
The coords for this puzzle were found in a nearby cache and were spot on, which lead us to GZ. The final walk out to the ledge was amazing with views in all directions. This was our last cache up on the Bluff and soon after the log was signed and replaced, we started the steep decent back down.
Thanks Dahumbug for placing and maintaining these caches. Great to meet you today and have your company on the hike.
Love your work.

Onward to literally the end of the bluff, where we stopped to admire the views, but in a very cautious manner. We were all looking downward wondering what the descent would be like, and if any of us would be making a rapid one today
We picked our way down, thankful that there were lots of official and unofficial trail markers to follow. I had an incident which caused me to slip off the track and end up ony posterior but didn't fall further thankfully. We trudged back to the cars, totally spent after an estimated 9.5km hike taking just under 6.5hrs. What an adventure, one I won't soon forget. Adding a fave for the memories

Out today with Orange Crew and Team Tyrrell to continue my challenges of a trad a day and a cache a day, plus grab a few fun and different caches. I had mentioned to the guys I needed a few special caches a few weeks back and a plan was made to complete the 8 or so outside Kenilworth and up on the bluff. We were lucky enough to have the CO to join us on our hike as well, who also wanted to set a few more in the area.
WOW there is no room for mistakes up here, the narrow ledge and walkway did make for a few anxious moments. The coordinates we had were spot on and the cache was soon found, with log signed and cache returned as found it was on to a very steep decent and track back.
The track back is loose and needs to be tackled with caution, so orange crew found out and a loose footing saw him on his arse and me grabbing him from going any further.
The walk back to the car was still littered with the conversations of the old times and the thought of the stairs were still entrenched in my mind, lucky for me I like downs on hill stairs.
Back at the cars a quick reflection of the day’s events, some food and drink before we said our good byes, then we were off to grab a couple of others on the way home.
Thank you dahumbug for coming along and making the day enjoyable it was a pleasure to meet and we will catch you again I’m sure.
A favourite point from me for placing all these here and the days event, again thanks.

Saturday. After collecting Until the End, we only needed to collect this cache for this series and we were making really good time now. We walked back along the path which was next to the cow paddock and then found ourselves walking through all sorts of bush, tall trees, sections of black boys and through scrubby bush where I wished I’d brought my gators [xx(] This morning on the path we’d not seen any ribbon. Now we did spot one, but since we realised that we’d missed the pathway off to the right direction, we headed back up the hill to near where the cache was and then found a heap more ribbon taking us in the direction we needed to go! Woohoo!
We followed the great pathway all the way to the creekbed and then wished there were a few more ribbons here, but we spotted the one we needed to lead us back to the path over the creek and so we headed back up. So much up! The path was a bit slippery in parts today and the path back to the Stairway to Heaven/Hell was no different. Luckily for the most part, there were trees to take hold of. Some were old and brittle and broke off easily, so we tried to avoid all of those! We eventually found ourselves back at one of the least used picnic tables ever placed and took a seat while the group caught up. A short walk, thankfully down the stairs this time and then the short walk back up the slippery path to the cars. A fantastic series and FP awarded for the series. A huge thanks to Dahumbug for placing these great caches.
This was the 6th of 7 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***dahumbug***, for showing us this place.

By the time we reached this cache I was spent. The walk along the top of the bluff wasn’t that bad but I was unfit and gorgeous. My legs were wobbling and my knees were starting to ache and [Woodyrothwell: remember to insert copious amounts of excuses here].
My son found the hide and there was a small celebration that our last cache was found. We only had some down left back to the cars but I was shattered. Actually how I was feeling can only be described with a single word: busted, shagged, rooted, knackered, exhausted, f**ked, broken, defective, cock-knobbled, shat-slapped, shiggy-diggled and wank-tanked. When you can think up so many single words it’s clear how tired you are.
We started our walk down and then down some more. All ways are down when you are at the top. When it became clear that further down in the direction we were heading probably meant death, or worse super-death, we had to turn around and head back up. That broke me more than the first time I heard my son say no to a beer (it was only domestic beer so I was actually happy).
My unfitness showed and it was a long hard trek down. I was actually craving for some uphill and needed a stop every 10 metres. I was thankful my son took pity on me and hung back for my copious stops with a hand around my backpack when it looked like I was heading for a real downhill shortcut. Thanks to the group for putting up with my slowness and I know my knees will pay for it all next week. Looks like I have a hefty wine bill coming. tftc

We can’t believe we are onto the last cache up here. Nothing was left unsaid up here, tunes were played and laughs were had along with all talk of glory holes, hey what’s said on the bluff stays on the bluff.
Even on our drive home we were still discussing what a great day we had up here. We used all terrain at times as hands, feet and butts hit the dirt and we had great company. After finding the cache we headed back down with a wrong turn and then back up and this time ribbons were paramount to find, hence why Mrs 4ando wasn’t allowed to lead the charge as the times I went ahead after the first wrong turn were another 2 times that we could of gone the wrong way, with the boys up the back singing thankfully Mrs SP pulled me up everytime a wrong turn was made and then casually got back in the front with that look on her face of ‘I’m not following you.’
Thanks for all the caches up here, we had a blast.

I was surprised at how undefined the tracks are up the top ,After Col and Chris had done the gps inputting , we realised that the track would be a little more defined with all the latest traffic. These first people trees are amazing up here.

I hope your ears were burning dahumbug as we cursed you after we loaded the co-ords for this one. It certainly is nice country up here and plenty of blackboys along the way. I was surprised at the lack of wildlife but we did hear the Bellbirds and Parrots.
A brief search at GZ had the cache and log signed. A rest and drink and off to the next one. We were certainly high up up here with great views.
Favourite point.

This was our next target and a lot of laughs were had as we pondered it's position. The area was still nice to wander through with plenty of native grasses taller than us along the way to GZ.
Once at GZ it was a short search and after doing the signing duties we enjoyed the views and headed for our next target.
A FP for location, cache and the fun!

found today in the company of a great group of fellow cachers Swellerfungus, SayWot,. JezNDez, VikoCZ & Walandor Goldielover not with us now as a last minute phone call changed things here. We all camped at Charlie Morelands last night except Saywot who met us this morning at the designated parking spot.
A nice enjoyable hike down to some stairs the start of a great days hiking. Quite some staircacs here which I really enjoyed. Although it got the heart rate up a little. Loved the cache here and enjoyed the remainder through out the remainder or the hike. We took the short cut straight up from the second cache which I think we were all really greatful of. May have been a little bit of a scramble for a short distance but great fun. Did not take too long before we were at the top enjoying some magic views. The cars looking very lonely way below us. Very pleasant walk along the flat up here grabing the well placed caches along the way. A little bush bash at one stage but soon out in the open where we met up with a red belly black out sunning itself. We pushed past it out to the Bluff end and had a nice rest and bite to eat. VickoCZ checked out his G-Earth maps and decided a little gap in the trees ment a track back to very near our last remaing caches up here. Off we head to check out his observation. Nice stroll up the fence line to the track. Yes it was spot on and delivered us easily to with in 80 metres of our target. Very impressed!
The rest of the hike now mostly down was now taken in our stride until the short climb up to the cars.
All safely back and now into Kenilworth Pub for a well earned Beer and lunch.
Thanks dahumbug for your great caches. Had a ball up here.

Found with the crew listed below - They all summarized the day of adventure very well. Thanks for the cache.
The call went out via Enriquez the pool guy (he’s from What3words, Bolivia) that Kenilworth was the place to be this weekend. And as fast as you can say “what’s that Lifestraw doing in a poodles backside” we had a group of 6 choosing to head off on Friday after work to camp at Charlie Moorland campground, and one or two to maybe come the next morning.
After fighting the Friday afternoon traffic, we finally managed to get together for a nutritious gluten free, vegetarian, sugarless and halaal McDonalds feast. After stocking up on life’s necessities, including a stop at the local bottle-o, we finally made it to camp.
It was here that the capricious nature of our evanescent neighbors shone through. What lovely people they were – full of love for there fellow camper!
A night of stories around the campfire ensued, telling of good deeds, knobs, showers and free beer. Finally the night came to an end, as Viktor demanded an early start so that he would have time to do his hair and makeup before heading out.
As we pull up at our start point, we meet up with SayWot!, and one of us decides to pull out (the group was particularly nonremittal about this), leaving the 6 of us to tackle the hill. What followed was a rollicking day of laughs due to some sterling Dad jokes in preparation for the following day I expect!
What a great walk. We managed the scramble up to the ridge, and used some impressive and creative navigational skills to find a hidden road from our furthest cache of the day directly to our last two. I dips me lid to our master navigator of the day.
A few shaky legs on the way back to that car, and that last hill up to the car park is just a bit OTT really.
Thanks to my companions, and to all the CO’s for bringing me back to this wonderful walk.

Out with Swellerfungus, SayWot? Stairman1, VikoCZ & Walandor after a great night round the campfire at Charlie Moreland. Poodles, LifeStraws, old men and knobs; oh my!
As promised the co-ords were located safe and sound, and we all heaved a sigh of relief to find the GZ looked to be in the direction we had hoped (or else Swellerfungus was going to have a long lonely walk back!). Another great view from this cache - we could clearly see Tibrogaran around 40km away to the south east.

#4503 [11:00] to add next point to an "overnight hike" statistics, we had to start friday evening driving to one of the camping places nearby. interesting is that i was navigating to the wrong one, but arrived to the correct one - how cool i'm not sure why were our neighbors called capricious and evanescent (sorry, i know it's cowardly), they just probably prefer snoring better than talking about using life straws to drink from poodles.
there were few highlights of the trip, i'd sort them as follows:
1. stairman lending me very comfy mat
2. dem exchanging my warm beer to cold one
3. simon not hurting much himself as usual
everything else was okay, we found few nice caches, saw red belly sneak, enjoyed good path, enjoyed bad path, fantastic views, panoramatic rim descent and i've learned few new words like puddle, nonremittal (even windows correction didn’t know it) and that buffalo wings are not made of buffalo.
thanks a lot for inviting me to this trip and all COs for placing caches at this lovely area!

Fantastic hike. Nice views quick find. I have been in this area before to do Stairway to Possibilities. I thought I wouldn't come back, But then I felt the rest of the Kennilworth bluff caches calling my name for a return visit. I went a different more enjoyable way this time and admired the huge rock formations. Before I even got into the walk right bacjk at the start as I was heading toward the bridge I saw a 2m long skinny black snake on my right. I let out an involuntary girly scream. I think I scared the snake and it slithered across the path and down the embankment very quickly. I don't know who was more scared. Out here nobody can hear you scream.
CDAH55 identified the caches on Kenilworth bluff as being unloved and we organised with Dora the Explorer! to find them today. Unfortunately, Dora couldn't make it in the end so it was just CDAH55 and myself.
CDAH55 had some insider knowledge saying that the best way to go is straight up the spur rather than down into the gully. Co-incidentally, I met the CO at an event tonight and he said that it's actually slower to take the spur. I wish I'd met him last night. LOL.
We grabbed the coordinates from Blind Man's Bluff and continued on to the end of the world where the sounds of heavy machinery and the sight of the ugly mine spoiled an otherwise idyllic spot.
I said it was 50m that way and CDAH55 said it can't be. But we continued on and, after passing a recently deposited tuna can in a grass tree stump, we found the cache completely covered in rocks and vegetation.

We had planned to grab all the caches from Kennilworth Bluff to show them some love and attention. Initially the arrangements were made with Dora the Explorer and Venn Family x 1 to take on the chaallenge but unfortunately Dora the Explorer was unable to make it so Venn Family x1 and I met the challenge.
After obtaining the coordinates from the earlier cache we made our way along the bluff along a narrow ridge to GZ. It was from here that an operating quarry could be seen and heard but strangely enough at no other point along the hike would there be any indication of a quarry nearby. The vegetation does a great job of sound proofing.
There were signs of other hikers in the area as a freshly used tuna can was left in an old blackboi stump.
The cache was located and was very well hidden as natural materials had covered it over the time that it had not been disturbed.
The log was signed by the both of us and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.
All is good with this cache.
Find #473.

I had made a posting about doing a walk up Northbrook Mountain and ended up hiking up Kennilworth Bluff but that is part of another story. So today the suspects who kinly offered to let me come along for the ride (well walk) included teamdfl, Brother Colin, IolantheK and T-Tech.
Now somewhere I recall a sign which said Kenilworth Bluff Family Park , fun yes and the other bits are right but I wonder how a family might go with that stairway, the steep gully and the near non existent trails. That said we all had a great day out on these parts.

Out and about today for a big hike with a group of fellow geocachers. The group consisted of teamdfl, IolantheK, T-tech, Ruzzelz and myself.
With a stupid o'clock start we headed north arriving at the start just before 9am.
with several caches planned to on we had to make sure we did not miss any way point information along the way.
Down first then let the UP begin with a warm up of 320+ stairs. Yes someone counted. Then a short down before the UP began properly.
This cache was the last we actually signed after reaching the top, hiking along the ridge, doing two bush bashing sessions and then making our way back. A quick find here before continuing down and back to the car. [^]
All caches found.

Last one then. We had acquired the numbers for GZ on the way up, and all we had to do was get to them on the way back.
I am not sure how we veered off the right track but we ended up with another bush bash to get back to where we needed to be.
We were very happy to get to this one. It was located after a very short hunt. Now we just have to get back to the car.
This is one of those hill climbs that is almost as difficult on the way back. It is steep and loose, so it is not really a big help that it is downhill. Certainly not a walk for the fainthearted or the unfit.
Thanks to my fellow conspirators for a fun day out and thanks to the CO for some enjoyable caches. [^]

Today was the day for a big adventure teamdfl and I were keen to get one of this CO's caches up on Kenilworth Bluff for a Challenge we are working on, and of course while we're up there, we'd better grab the lot! So we called in some buddies who we thought were up for the adventure (T-Tech, Brother Colin and ruzzelz) and after meeting up bright and early this morning everyone piled into the Pajero and we headed north.
After a few hours of hard slog getting up onto this hill, collecting the two multis, noting the numbers for a puzzle, grabbing the two traditionals and finally getting our target for the day done, it was time to head back down and grab this one along the way. We had to laugh at where it was as we had stopped and taken a photo only a few metres from it on our way up! A quick find here before we continued on our way down. TFTC, dahumbug.

Up rather early, met at the rendez-vous location, pile into one car and make for Kenilworth [^]
So begins the 12.5Kms of teamdfl, Brother Colin, Ruzzelz, IolantheK and I all over Kenilworth Bluff Family Park
This cache was the second or third of the second of fourth cache and the first of the two multis or was that...well I found this one [:o)] Such was my mind after Multis crossed over puzzles and Traditionals
All I really know was we did lots of "walking", and came back after seeing some great views with some awesome company [^]
After some more bush bashing from Until The End we were on our way out via this final cache
Nice easy find [^]
Now for a nice stroll back to the car [:o)]

This cache was the second or third of the second of fourth cache and the first of the two multis or was that...well I found this one [:o)] Such was my mind after Multis crossed over puzzles and Traditionals
All I really know was we did lots of "walking", and came back after seeing some great views with some awesome company [^]
After some more bush bashing from Until The End we were on our way out via this final cache
Nice easy find [^]
Now for a nice stroll back to the car [:o)]

Today's mission was simple. Get all the caches on this big rock, survive in the process and hit that sweet 500 finds!!
Started the day off at around 8 am, thought to myself "heck, ill smash these out in an hour or so." Boy was I wrong. Followed the path to the way point suggested that i start climbing. I thought this cant be right. quick look on the map suggested I was kidding myself, so I started my ascent! Reached the top and explored from there!
When i got the coordinates for this one i laughed at the cache name because I thought to myself "ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!" . All is well, i got there after dodging an echidna on the way. Plus a great birds eye view of the mine below.
I highly recommend these caches to anyone who is up for a serious challenge. I can honestly say you work for those D / T ratings!

This was another on a day's caching with timingi. Timingi was visiting the area and I offered to accompany him to the Bluff.
Getting to the two we had previously found was not a problem. I share with Nyssaflutterby her concerns with getting to this one. I was too concerned with the height to worry about the view. Getting there gave me nightmares.
I'm giving this a favourite, not sure why, must be for the stubbornness of the CO in getting to the end.

Gotcha !!! As we approached GZ the magic arrow seemed to be pointing into space . Getting closer the reason for the cache name became obvious. We have lots of landforms like this in Byfield, near Temingi's home so I was quite comfortable walking out to GZ. What a great view. Definitely gets a Fav. Point from me and a visit from TBs and GCs. Now on to the next. TFTC
Having found the coordinates in the previous cache we made our way through the scrub to this one, picking up the odd track here and there before it would end abruptly leaving us to scrabble through the scrub again. It was a fight to get here but we were soon at one of my most favourite structures, I always love walking along these types of features and this was no different. The views here are extrodinary and were the hightlight of the walk today. This cache deserves many more visits. Thanks dahumbug for placing another great cache in the area.
Seffnjarah & I teamed up with Coolumroo & Humbug by pure chance for a walk up on the bluff. Came up to grab FTFs on Until the End GC4V6GZ (see log) and Coolumroo GC5DFFF. Grabbed this one on route. There are some excellent views out over there valley from up here.
Thanks Humbug for a great day out.
Thanks Humbug for a great day out.
Dav81 and myself had visited the multicache needed to find the final for this cache and were happy to find that it wasn't too far from where we were standing. We followed a "sort of" trail in the direction of GZ and then I started to be concerned, hmmm, it looked like we were going to run out of land! As we continued on I soon discovered that we were not going to have to descend, maybe just watch where we were putting our feet. Another great location for a cache.
Thanks for the cache dahumbug

Another FTF up here - amazing! I can highly recommend this cache if you want a physical challenge with some incredible scenery and unique habitat.
With the final coords collected from the other cache I set off for this one not really knowing what it would be like at GZ. The going is rather difficult through the dense forest and you need to keep your wits about you to not get lost. I take my hat off to dahumbug and PapaSmurf12 for finding their way through this maze before they had any waypoints to head for.
Eventually I arrived at an extraordinary geological feature that gave beautiful views of the valleys and hinterland. It definitely deserves a T4.5 rating and you will be tired when you get there so watch your step.
The track up the mountain which is common to all of these caches is quite interesting in itself. At one point you will pass through an understory forest of Wilkea plants. I have never seen so many in one area before. There are two species both growing here and they are distinctive because of their large stiff glossy leaves with a few spikes along the edges, a bit like a Macadamia leaf. They are the caterpillar food plant for the Regent Skipper - a black and golden yellow rapidly flying butterfly that you may see as you walk though.
Also take care not to touch the stinging tree growing in the middle of the rocky creek bed that the track goes up. I only noticed it on the way down and I'm very glad I didn't brush past it - it is excruciatingly painful.
Thanks so much for bringing me to this remarkable place. I had an awesome and exhausting time! Has to be on my favourite list as well!
