Went fishing for this whilst out on the cycle rail trail and found it without too much trouble. Log is wet though and starting to disintegrate. Tftc.
After dropping the car at the panel beaters, I cycled home along the Hauraki Rail Trail, so nabbed a few caches as I went. No problems locating this one, but it's location doesn't seem to match what other cachers have been saying about it. TFTC.
Found with Cympull. Couldnt see it at first as too short but then I saw it. Loved this clever hide. TFC
Thanks for your amazing cache vectis. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches. Found with Fisha1288. Reminded me of a cache that was in Molyneu Park in Alexander. That took me a few looks to find it. Earns a Favourite from me. Cheers, Cympull.
JD found it. He likes to say, " see dear you have to stick with the experienced" , . We enjoyed this feature on the track. Thanks for getting us to stop here.
Away for the weekend to ride a section of the Hauraki Rail Trail from Waihi. This afforded me the opportunity to snag some caches en route. Ha. A tricky wee hide which required a search on many levels. Taking a search from an alternative direction paid dividends. Thanks vectis#5077Logged using Cachly.
I ride along here often and have stopped a few times to look. This evening no muggles so I went with an open mind and a different perspective TFTC
A nice bike ride today. Ended up doing 26km in total. Had to wait till a few groups of muggles passed, then the search began. A good hide here. Tftc
To many people wondering why I am fossicking around. Could not find under observation
Second time round for this one, last time picked up a bees nest whilst looking and had run to
the car for tablets, this time more careful, after lookin and lookin had to contact another cacher for some direction and bingo. found with ABCDF4 whilst tidying up the missed cachers from our last mission, thanks for bringng us to this neat location.

Back along the Waikino end to finish the trail
starting to warm up with the Sun
But it is our last one down this end
Nice hide thanks

At long last I have a working e-bike and can get out on the trail again, despite my knees being pretty awful. New log in cache.
Woohoo what a hide! A favourite from us here. We were lucky to spot it quite quickly so very happy! TFTC
Found whilst out on a ride with mum keylev, B4Dawn and NurseDr.
Had fun, thanks for the cache.
Had fun, thanks for the cache.
Apologies but completed these caches a few weeks ago and forgot to log them. Completed with Keylev.TFTC
Last rode this trail in April 2015 but with the geo-kids being quite small at the time we had to stop halfway so never got the caches at this end. This was a chance for me to tidy them up and NurseDr and B4Dawn to get them all.
I'd love to say quick find but nope it wasn't....we made it much harder then we needed to. We looked up and down, climbed in spots that were slightly dicey until B4Dawn spotted something - woop woop.
Definitely no need to leave the path simply admire the waterfall from the bridge and open your eyes to spot it.
Thanks for the cache.

Very clever. We too made it harder than it needed to be. TFTC. Very pretty day out with keylev and b4dawn
We were staying at the camping area at the Waihi Railway Station with the aim of riding a portion of the Hauraki Rail Trail. Unfortunately this was another DNF for us. Busy track today so maybe we just didn’t look long and hard enough. May be next time.
The Kiwiscot clan hired some bikes from Waihi and hit the rail trail. Enjoyed our cycle through the gorge and tunnel. On our return journey now. Short of time with the bikes needing to be returned before hire shop closing. Had a quick look but no luck. Maybe next time.
What an out of it waterfall. When I found the cache I laugh at myself. Made it harder than it needed to be. But was worth the effort. Tftc
A very tricky hide but we got lucky and spotted it reasonably quickly.
In our efforts to look for it we also discovered a much better vantage point to view the waterfall which was an unexpected bonus.
There were lots of cyclists on the trail today so we had to be stealthy but managed to retrieve, sign and return the cache undetected.
Thanks vectis for another great hide on the rail trail.

A little green frog was sitting nearby so was a bit of fun trying to get the dog to sit still while grabbing the cache. Tftc
Heading from Paeroa to Waihi and back again on the HRT today, we collected a few caches along the way. We found this part of the trail to be very popular, and it is not hard to see why as this is a very scenic part of the HR trail.
While MrsJAG checked out one side, MrJAG checked out the other and soon spotted the cache.

The Hauraki Rail Trail is closed while the Covid 19 rahui is in place. Anyone geocaching during this time is putting themselves and others at risk by handling the containers, stash and logs. So this cache is disabled until this present emergency ends. I reserve the right to disable any logs dated after the lockdown started.
Found it on another bike journey on HRT Section C. Thanks for replacing this cache. I had DNF here before. TFTC
This one is tricky to find but maybe it has gone. I'll be fit enough to check it out in a few weeks.
Sorry no joy here. But had nice time with Darby&Joan. Nice to see friends Geocachers at GZ looking for a hide. We had some team work at GZ but left empty handed. ..... Pity 25 FPs must me nice hide!
Arrived here at the same time as Tramyard coming from the other direction. Despite our joint efforts we couldn't locate this. Either an extremely clever hide, or its gone.
Had a brief look around then I was rather muggled by a squadron of wasps. There's a relatively new nest in the support structure and they weren't too pleased with me there. At least the bike gave me an escape route! Caution is advised.
[Edit] After checking online, these little sods are Asian Paper wasps, so care required.

Well I feel like we have searched every once of this bridge. Tried to up the terrain rating and still nothing to be seen. Had a fair idea of what style of hide we were looking for but decided to call it quits after 40 mins or so of hunting.
Cycling the Waihi - Paeroa section of the HRT trail with 11hpg11 today & really enjoying ourselves ... until we got here. Wont admit exactly how long we spent looking here or just how bruised (by ignoring cache advice & going off trail to see if we could get a better view higher up or lower down - a REALLY bad idea!!) We read all the logs for clues, even resorted to PAF for a hint, & thought we had a good idea of what to look for, but still couldn't spot the pesky critter. Finally had to admit defeat ... 'til next time!
I'm travelling around NZ for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my guide-book. I'm glad geocaching took me to Waihi, I wasn't planning to stay here, but driving through the Karangahake Gorge last night made me want to explore more. Today I rented a bike and biked the beautiful trail from Waihi to the gorge and back. Thank you for placing all these caches along the way, otherwise I wouldn't have tought of this. I rented a bike for half a day (5 hours), so I didn't have time to find all the caches, but I got to see a lot, and I did the windows-walk. It was a beautiful day!
About this cache:
A quick and easy find with a nice new log. I'm adding a favouritepoint here for this lovely trail and for all the nice, easy caches you've placed along this route. Tftc, greetings from Norway

Headed over this way to do part of the trail sadly the weather is crap but happy to continue. Thanks so much for the smiles was still a great day.
Great views and a cool tunnel too.

On a mission with fellow cacher, Dee+ME. A great winters day for a bike ride along this fabulous track, fantastic history in the area, nice waterfall and nicely hidden, all good here, many thanks for bringing us here. Cheers.
On a mission with McJandals. Had a poke around at first waterfall...on to next one. Looked down and there it was.
Cheers
Cheers
Nice to see a cache that was a little bit different to mix it up on this leg of the trail. TFTC
On a HRT cycling adventure with Beconaze. Signed log as Gernaze. Lovely day! Nice hide. TFTC
There was plenty of water flowing today - and this was a quieter part of the track - away from all the people further down. We replaced the log sheet as it was completely full. TFTC.
I was out for the day cycling the Hauraki Rail Trail from Paeroa to Waihi with the kids and picking up a few caches along the way (alas not all of them as there just wasn't enough time ) This was the seventh find of the day and after following the hint instructions the cache was soon spotted TFTC!
After planning a trip to the bay of plenty for easter to gather a cache or two, it changed dramatically (we thought) when we heard that cyclone cook was about to bear down on this area our hopes had dropped .
But no almost the complete opposite, so after getting bike and body sorted it was to the start we went and ride the HRT trail, we started in thames and the plan was to ride to te aroha if the body allowed.
Nice quick find here exactly where and how it should be.
Thanks for the smiley and the placement.
Very good hint.

Today we decided to hike this trail..... We started at the "HRT start" and walked to "Victoria Battery" and turned around and came back. While we were hiking we had to stopped on the way to search for geocaches that was hidden on this scenic route. We had a lot of fun
Thanks for bringing us to this part of Waihi.

More of the HRT series of caches. Today was from Waihi to Waikino. Thanks for placing the series vectis.
Love it, so simple, nearly had us fooled, but then ... ahh there it is! thanks for the hide
Out with Rustynz, Nice Hide Out playing on the bike with friends and Family having a fun time in the sun TFTC
After a DNF last time we did the trail, it was very satisfying finding it this time. Still took a few minutes until one of the team saw something that led to the cache. TFTC. #345
Was looking for this one, when a walker came up and asked if I was caching, there was nothing to do but admit, that yes I was. She then pointed out where her neice had found the cache last summer. Feels kind of like cheating, but at least we were on our way again.
Biking from Paeroa to Waihi and caching along the way. GPRs initially had me too far away, but I checked the additional hint, and then just followed the directions. Very cool hide, and I appreciated the natural air conditioning right at GZ - it was getting hot. Thanks for the cache!
Two waterfalls. Was fascinated how the water disappeared and reappeared through a hole close to the river. Thanks for bringing us here
Cunning hide... co ords good made for a quick find and sign thanks for a great cache
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... It feels like ages since the last time we were out on the hunt. The weather has been predictably wet of late...
HRT Trail: After lots of rain, the falls were in good flow. There seemed to be water gushing everywhere. We searched the likely spots without much luck. The iPhone gps was pointing to an unusual spot, and we doubted its accuracy. What have we got to lose? Trusting the gps proved to be the right thing to do, as the cache was cleverly hidden and nicely done. With all the water, the log was only slightly damp. TFTC.

Earlier in the year, tikitour and I decided we would team up and cycle the whole Hauraki Rail Trail over the long Easter weekend and look for all the caches along the way. On Good Friday we did the Thames to Paeroa leg and yesterday we did the Te Aroha to Paeroa leg. Today we left the best till last and did the final leg from Waihi to Paeroa. It was another lovely day today and this section of the trail was a whole lot busier than the other 2, but we didn't have too many troubles with muggles. It was lovely cycling through here and I would come back and do it again. Soon found this cache along the way. This was a nice spot and nice hide - FP added! TFTC!

Day 3 of our cycling weekend and this was the best of the three days...fantastic track with lovely views, ups and down, great bridges , historical sites to visit, amazing tunnel and of course caches to find. It was a day of great variety, riding and walking. We cycled down from where we were staying in Waihi and we picked up a few along the way. Thanks for the placement of all the caches. This was a nice clever hide....fav from me
Another pretty spot, and a fun hide! Spotted easily thanks to the good hint.
Greetings from the UK!
Greetings from the UK!
We were out on our bikes by 8 this morning to ride the Hauraki bike trail from Waihi to Paeroa, with a little detour to do the Karangahake Windows Walk (which meant we missed going through the 1 km tunnel). It was a perfect day for it, no wind, cloudy and not too hot. A great ride with wonderful scenery as well as the history lessons along the way.
After a few overshoots of GZ along the way, StreetWalker discovered he had parked his bike right by the cache! Nice hide and nice location. TFTC.

Plan today was to ride from Waihi to Paeroa, stay overnight and cycle back the next day. There were 6 in our group (4 geocachers and 2 understanding muggles) A&JKiwis went as far as the train station before turning back and it was great to have some caching company along the way. Excellent day, albeit quite hot so a dip in the river further along was welcome. Thanks for placing these caches.
Even though our GPS signal was lost (probably due to weather) the Geokid found this one as we biked along in the rain this afternoon. Great little cache, very clever!
What a fantastic hide. Found straight away with the hint but by far my fave so far
Seventh find here and like many other people have said, this was the stand out cache for me. Something different and beautifully constructed. Please do not let these comments take away from the rest of the series though. I love the fact that all the caches I found today had something a little different to the last.
This one gets my fav point for the trip though.
I have to admit to needing the hint though.
