Im NOT a cricket fan, unless its the six legged type! But I needed a multi today for my calendar and this was fairly well on our route, but who knows where youll end up with them! This was a great example: an interesting starting point leading to a beautiful and relevant final location. It was a tricky find. Luckily despite the rain weve had recently over winter we were able to access the cache without getting wet and we could find easy access too. There were lots of kangaroos around. Well worth a a favourite point.
Day 10 of my interstate trip. Today I left Mount Franklin Reserve making my way north as far as Greens Lake Reserve near Stanhope. I managed to find 11 caches today and 2 DNF's.That was a long way to travel for that but good end spot. Nearly gave up but spotted it just in time.TFTC Mainebirds
I was in Castlemaine today... volunteering at the local tourist railway... and decided to look for a few caches at the end of the day before driving home. I had come out to this reserve for the this Multi... and found the Trad that is also here first. I strolled off to GZ only to realise afterwards that it is only a reference point and the important location is back at the Trad.... Doh!!! Oh well, the exercise wouldn't go astray... although I wasn't that desperate for exercise that I walked to the final location... driving there is much more sensible. Thanks **Mainebirds** for a cache highlighting some obscure history.
Found on an impromptu afternoon of caching in the area with wozzle68. This was a neat multi with interesting relevant information both at the starting waypoint and at GZ. Initially we disregarded where the GPS was pointing, however reading the hint made it clear where to search, and it was subsequently spotted very easily with no fiddling with any other rocks required. Thankfully it has been dry weather all this week so it was a nice easy retrieve. We wondered how it would hold up with heavy rains or flooding, but it obviously has, as all is good with the cache. TFTC Mainbirds.
This was an interesting multi. We second guessed the calculations at first but a second time confirmed them. At gz we eventually narrowed down the hide location after reading a log and I could actually see the container from my location.
Back in Bendigo for a few days means catching up on some caching with mum. Nice quick and easy find! The lid has lost a clip so some of the contents are wet.

Had worked out the co-ords when in the area early in the day with the plan it find GZ on the way home. Arrived at GZ and started the search, spying the cache from an interesting angle. Soon had it hand and the log was soon signed. Cache was replaced and it was back to the car and off towards home.
Thanks Mainebirds...cache all good. Fav point for the connection...and the topic.

An unusual situation for us instead of being in lovely warm Queensland we are hiding around cold old Victoria. Medical reasons and caravan repairs have us staying here and we will be looking forward to finding as many caches as possible while we are here. SL TFTC
Work done and cache found in no time. The kangaroos had taken the field and the cockatoos and galahs were certainly rowdy in the outfield. Thanks for the cache.
At least the kangaroos are keeping the grass down in the reserve. There were so many of them as well as cockies and galahs. They weren't at all troubled by us being there. The drain/waterway is a lovely example of historic construction. Thanks for the cache.
Good fun little multi, good to learn some more history. Thank you for breaking my geocaching drought. Cheers
Beautifully built! I did the 1st bit months ago when daughter was a scouts but deemed it too dark to complete. Dropped her at scouts tonight & did a few caches around Harcourt....... & yep, it was dark when I got here but my thron streak shone through Glad things have dried up a bit over the last few days though!! Many thanks for the well constructed multi
Out on a base camp with my bbush walking club and after happy hour. House mates agreed to a geo experience. Picked up the clues from the well hidden monument. Who would have guessed that piece of history in this small town. Took off to gz. Had us guessing for quite a while as to which side to go and then just went for it. A great little hide. Cache in excellent condition. Thanks Mainebirds, loved it
Found the info on a walk this arvo, found the cache in the dark but phone light, a short drive while waiting for dinner to cook!
Very cool multi! Adding a fav.
Thanks for the cache and the adventure.

A quick find on my drive through the area after getting the required information. Standing back from the wall certainly made the find easier TFTC
It’s another camping weekend! The car is packed and I’m on my way to spend the warm weather creekside… via a few caches of course!
With the initial information gathered from the plaque, I soon discovered I had to go back, the same way I originally came in to town, to find the final for this multi. I began the journey and admired the lovely stone bridge on the way to GZ.
On arrival the likely location revealed itself and a short search produced the well hidden cache.
Thanks Mainebirds for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

Found....what a great location. Loved this one. Had to do it as we'd just been at the plaque so thought why not. TFTC.
Finally came back for this guy months and months later after lockdown. All quiet here today, thanks for the trip!
We headed out for a day trip and decided this area was a great quiet location.
The winter day we got was just amazing, sunny and a delight to be geocaching in.
Thank you for placing this geocache for us to find.

TFTC. We have visited this plaque on a previous occasion and kept a record of the information. With a calculated G in hand made our way out to Castlemaine and GZ. At GZ we saw the collie but he thought we were sitting in the car for too long and wandered off elsewhere. A quick search and the cleverly hidden cache was in hand.
Out hiding some new caches in the Daylesford area. Time to cross this one off the to find list.
17 September 2019 3:14 pm first multi cache, really enjoyed this and yes, were greeted by the border collie.

This was our first find for the day. Luckily it didn't take us too long to have cache in hand and logbook signed.

Out with 2beez and petebev today after attending an event. Petebev's first multi so a good one to show.
A tricky little hide but we got there. A local bordie collie came over for lots of pats

Found at 4:49 PM GAFF1.
11 against 21! Is that a fair contest? Well I suppose the English team were professional, but gosh their scores were low!
Glad that there was an "indicator" to mark the position of the cache - and good co-ords, as caches placed in such locations usually results in the destruction of the structure.
Must be difficult to access in times of water flow!
Thanks Mainebirds

Quite an assortment of caches was on the list for today, while travelling and caching with ilook4geo. We picked up some traditionals, some multi caches and a couple of puzzles, as well as some challenge caches. Each cache was just a random choice to represent the route that we took today. This was one of the caches we found and it was an easy one.
Well, the info was easy to find, but the container was more difficult, as the GPs wanted to do a dance. Log was signed, cache was replaced as found.
Thank you to Mainebirds for this cache placement.

On a well earned break in Castlemaine and I’m spending the time just touring the whole area, enjoying the sites and picking up caches as I go.
I picked up what was required yesterday and on the way back to camp today I called in to find this one.
A lucky omen as there was 5 dollar note sitting in the grass bellow GZ.
I think we need the Castlemaine XI as our team as the Aussies aren’t doing to well at the moment.
Thanks Mainebirds TFTC.

I am visiting my sister in Guildford but had some time to fill in so I came out caching. She was bowled over by the history of the area and it was definitely a case of all out! Thanks for placing this cache for us to enjoy. After signing duties were completed I returned him to his hidey hole.
Finally got to finish this one... during a certain season is tricky... tftc
Sitting at my computer during these Covid lockdowns, I am trying to catch up on a few logs that I haven't sent in yet.
Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late log, something I am notorious for. Thank you for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.
Thanks Mainebirds (F=477 H=43) for the cache.

Another multi under our belt wow the number fairies are smiling on us. After gaining the required numbers off we went. There was what we sought now to find it. Well concealed container but Sean.75 came up with the goods and was not out lbw. Lol tftc
Jenno3, Sean.75, kenbryl and I are kicking goals today!! We are attempting a multi challenge and today has been very successful. Tftc
After being distracted by a few traditional caches on our way to the GZ of this multi, we finally made it the last one for the day. An impressive wall which we got down close and personal to examine. Excellent hiding place and SL at 7.02pm Took: dinosaur so the lid would close properly. Saw the connection immediately. #4424 Thanks for the journey Mainebirds and now back to Castlemaine for some well-earned dinner.
Interesting formation here at GZ and timing my find with the direction of the mower man in the cool of the morning.could be very busy here later today. Tftc.
I was visiting friends in Castlemaine, and Migiboo was my partner for the afternoon. Unfortunately he doesn't have a premium membersip so can't log this rather nice multicache. Anyway, we had agood time cruising the outer regions of Cadtlemaine and thinking about the cricket games that have been and gone.
Caching our way between Maryborough and Castlemaine this afternoon on this hot stinky day with the windows down to keep cool due to our air conditioning deciding to pull the plug. We enjoyed the places that the different CO's brought us to, highlighting our beautiful countryside, if somewhat dry at the moment, and the historical highlights as well. So lucky we invested in some sock guards before coming away otherwise we would be spending hours picking out those blasted grass seeds and other pesky prickles from all the dry , long grass.
After finding the nearby trad we gathered the information for this multi and after a quick look on google maps we were happy with our GZ results.
Thankyou Mainbirds for the clever hide , but now we have the Sherbet song in our heads.

Suscoe decided to have a big day out in the Castlemaine region today.
A great forecast of around 25 degrees with cloud cover made for a pleasant day caching in the central highlands.
The car said 22 degrees was the top temp for the day.
We had blue sky when we left home, clouds all the way from Daylesford and blue skies when we got home again.
A terrific day was had with lots of variety in cache hides and loactions.
Those rotten grass seeds were everywhere and the socks filled with them!!!!!
Thanks to the Mainebirds for this informative multi, now wonder they lost when you think about it.
Enjoyed our tea break at GZ.
It didn't stump us!!!!!

I was working at the tourist railway in Castlemaine today and went for a caching trip in the three + hour gap between the morning and afternoon train.
This was the fourth find for the day. I was glad there were no games on at either of the cricket pitches as it could have made things complicated!
At the first waypoint I found the traditional then walked halfway to the listed coordinates for this cache before realising the information was actually back where I had come from! After punching the numbers into my GPS I found one of the other nearby traditionals before driving across to GZ. Something that only a cacher would notice stood out upon arrival and I had the cache in hand - phew, that could have been a LONG search!
TNLNSL, TFTC!
By the way, thanks for listing in the description that GZ was a few km away from the initial coordinates!

Away on geocache weekend to Bendigo with diana8 and JulesC21 (Jules may log this later if she chooses to become a premium member). Our goal is to find 30 multis in the month of June. This was number 11 for the weekend. After gathering the necessary info it was an interesting drive through some windy, unsealed back roads, partly due to a missed turn. Eventually the cache was a quick grab, and it's in good condition. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.
Great story here for the cricket fanatics, and even for those of us who just take a passing interest. Indeed, the final location didn't look like an obvious GZ, but it became clear as we arrived and we soon had the cache in hand. This was no. 11 and our last multi for the day - A pretty successful day with julesc21 and mistermagee. It all fell apart after this cache though - a slight detour (scenic route!) to get back to the highway and a DNF as it began to get dark Oh well, tomorrow is another day!
Find #976 for me. I gathered the clues at the plaque a long time ago - some time last year I think? - but as I often do with multis, I decided to postpone the next stage until a later time. Finally today I had an opportunity to drop by GZ to complete this multi. I felt a little uncomfortable poking around so close to the nearby house but eventually found the very cleverly hidden container after 5 minutes. Thanks for the history lesson, the journey and the cache Mainebirds!

We had nabbed the co-ords for this one earlier in the evening then made the find in darkness by torchlight. A fairly quick find.
We had to deliver the eldest geo-daughter to Castlemaine this arvo after school so we figured we would use the chance to clean up a few more un-found caches in the area. Not many left now.
We managed 7 finds, the last few by torchlight before checking out the local chicken shop for dinner then heading home.

Found with Billywillysillydilly. I enjoy these types of multis. Of course I fell victim to the dreaded barbed wire again at the plaque but the cache was quickly retrieved from its clever hide once we reached our destination. Thank you for the cache Mainebirds
Good cricket themed one to keep geodad and geo poppy happy. We have driven past this spot many times and finally good to stop and explore.
Very cute final gz. Easy to find cache. Easily spotted from the side of rock wall.

We found this cache today at 2:45pm as number 15 of 25 on our tour from Castlemaine to Bendigo. We collected the info for this cache yesterday and picked it up today on our journey. A bit confusing that the info at WP1 wasn't at the co-ords and we had walked halfway there before realising this. Thanks from D, HA & A B-A.
I did the sums and plotted the final.. um.. not where I expected but a great spot to detour on the way home after the geo event earlier. THANKS

We have neglected Castlemaine's more recent offerings for too long now so it was time to try and tick off a few. Unfortunately it was a later start than we intended but it was a beautiful day to be out caching.
We started this one earlier in the day and then collected it on the way home. Mr Morris works with several of the players from here - there is a hole in the wall that all the tops from beer bottles get popped into. It will be quite a find for the archeologists.

A great little multi, giving us a unique piece of Australian history. We found the GZ quickly, and then commented on the slope of the oval, you would want to bowl from the northern end to get a good run up! Thanks for the cache and the history lesson.

I had the song humming in my head when Bogonghazy and I started this Multi yesterday. We had the numbers, but were waiting till we were in this direction. Thanks to Mainebirds for the simple Multi and the hide.
Found by Mary & David, in convoy with Team Crackers, at 0905. From one cricket cache to another. When we finished with "Wattle Flat Cricket", we realised that the data we needed for this cache was right there. When we plotted GZ, we were a little puzzled at the distance involved, but set off anyway. Once there, all was revealed and we understood the connection. A lovely and historic cricket site. We could have picked a bucket full of mushrooms after our quick find, but we had more caches to do on our way to the Ballarat CITO. Our thanks to Mainebirds.
Traveling with maccamob after staying the night in Bendigo caching our way toward the Canadian Creek Cito later today.
We had just visited Wattle Flat Cricket and were about to head of to GZ when we realised perhaps we should stay right where we were. We collected the information and sorted out the coordinates and headed off to GZ.
Here we understood the connection and were impressed with the structures here.
The cache looked like it was going to be difficult but with good coordinates maccamob located the cache very quickly and we both added our names to the log.
Many thanks Mainebirds a great multi.
