The app is finally working! In an 'end of the world' type problem, geocaching was DOWN and for far too long. But Bug was prepared and had a chunk of the sunshine Coast downloaded to an off-line map so I was able to get another one towards my 7/10 today. Or maybe 8. Love these chimneys. A little piece of history.
Went for a look for this cache wife was in slides so sent me up alone. Looks like the original house would have had an incredible view. Found quite easily. Cache and log was in good condition end of wire was just sitting loosely but otherwise all good. Thanks for the cache.
I was up in Nambour at a badminton team competition today (our team came second), so how about a few caches on the way home as it was still light (but only just)?I rushed up towards the chimney's and soon had the cache in hand.Thanks!!#3562
Headed out in the geo-car for a few caches today.
Decided to hit a few around Buderim since there was an event nearby that I was attending.
This is my 2278. Cache was found on 10 Sep 2023 at 1:48 pm.
Quick find.

The goal for the day was to work towards this months challenge, so the main focus was to find caches with high favourite points and any others we’d come across.
We had a great day out and I’m sure we’ll be back again soon as we’re not even close to completing this months challenge.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Today Peppa and I are on our way to the Sunshine Coast to attend the event planned for today but have started early to grab caches before and after.
Have the maintenance guy a surprise when we drove through the open gate so had to turn around and park on the street.
Made our way to Gz and started searching when finally found the cache. Interesting history about these chimneys.
A fav point for bringing us here

Patrol14 and I are spending the day on the Sunshine Coast with the main objective to attend the Rescheduled: Canuck in Caloundra - Meet & Greet…
That meant an early start, with plenty of caching before and after…
What a great location for a cache… despite ending up at the water tank… the gate was open…

Today we went for another visit to the Sunny Coast, rather more inland. So thank you to all COs who had put out caches for us to find.
We had couple of caches in our mind, and we started in Buderim, working our way now back home.
Interesting chimneys, and a beautiful view to the ocean!

After turning away from the private road I headed up into the bush and was delighted to see the size of the chimney stacks. As I was admiring the stacks a man headed up the hill towards me- uh oh, he’s going to tell me to go away, I thought, but no, he asked me if I was geocaching and gave me a helpful hint. He’s a local who was unhappy about the recent graffiti in the area.
It’s been a long time since I was in this area- I remember coming here when I was a kid to Tanawa World.

Today Mrs Woodyrothwell and I were making our way to Diddillibah for a night away from home to shed those lockdown shackles. On our way we decided to pickup some caches that sounded interesting and also hadn’t been discovered for a while. Every now and then you need to shake out the cobwebs by removing lots of actual cobwebs with your face.
It’s always blows our mind when you see an old piece of history hanging out in the middle of nowhere. How crazy were the first settlers when they thought it would be a great idea to pick some remote piece of bush with virtually no view to build on? Surely even a couple of hundred years ago they would have been smart enough to build a house within a few hundred metres of a Dan Murphy’s.
At least GZ gave us the chance to resharpen our memories as we tried to remember the lyrics to the Chimney Sweeper song in Mary Poppins. We only remembered a couple of words so if any chimney sweepers overheard us singing out of key they would probably want to swallow a whole lot of soot to end the pain. tftc

This is what I love about geocaching. Intriguing spot. Thanks for bringing me here.
Well this was a pleasant surprise!! The stacks are in perfect condition and a real hidden gem tucked away here. Sad that the council haven’t done more with this site, but glad that you put a cache here so that we got to discover the place. It was so much better than I was expecting. Oh yeah, found and signed the log too while I was here
First find for the day. What an interesting experience. Had smallwombat, myself and sister intrigued as to the history of the place.
My sister is an historian and being 4th generation local, she left with an interest to research it. Tftc

2:31:00 PM. This has been on our radar for way to long. Coming home and made a detour. Left the better half in the car and up I went. Interesting history and not something I expected to see here. The search for the cache took a while as I didn't look well enough the first time and ended up back at a spot for a better look. The hardest part was getting the jammed in log out. Once signed I rolled it tighter so hopefully it is easier for the next finder. Thanks for the cache dahumbug
Found nice and easy. Very interesting piece of history and is a shame that unthoughful muggles have placed their litter in the chimney. Cache is all good.

Visited this cache location last year but as the gate was closed we didn't do any searching. Don't be misled as the gate doesn't have to be accessed!!
A little bit of extra research about the chimneys is available in a small booklet at the council library- "The Rendle Family-The Chimneys LS 994.32 ALC" a very informative short read.
A good read with full history of the doctor from England and then Brisbane who build this property (sanitarium?) complete with chimneys over 130 years ago.
Thanks for placing this cache here Bushbashr.

After 5 or 10 minutes of stumbling around in the bush we finally spotted the cache. Overall a pretty easy find. TFTC
We found this tricky one it was not where we thought but the hint helped out. This is an interesting area and parking is close by to GZ. TFTC
We are giving this another favourite point for the interesting location. Geohubby said: this is what geocaching is all about, when it takes you to places with some history and interesting locations. Great hide. Thanks Bushbashr for placing it.

An awesome day up the coast with a fantastic bunch of ladies. Nearing the end of our Wacky Wednesday, this cache came up in conversation. Wombles&Co had already done it, but NyssaFlutterby, Team NanaBombana and I hadn't and it certainly was piquing our interests. So as those interests just had to be satisfied, we make a quick side trip over here.
Heading up the slope, I made the mistake of grabbing onto an apparently dead tree, and it began to fall, so I carefully guided it safely to a safe landing. Then we got up to the top, and saw those awesome chimney stacks! So cool!
Shortly after we found ourselves a cache, and did marvel at the fact this particular CO didn't make us all climb the stacks
Nearing the end of our day this was definitely a cool spot, and the most interesting of the day!
Thanks for the cache dahumbug, a Favourite Point from me.

Tuesday, December 29, 1998. : Six die as fierce storms batter Australia's annual Sydney to Hobart yacht race.
The Sydney to Hobart yacht race is a major Australian event held annually on Boxing Day. Hosted by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, the race starts in Sydney on Boxing Day and finishes in Hobart, a distance of 1167km. The first race was held on 26 December 1945.
In 1998, the race was marred by tragedy when weather conditions caused five boats to sink, resulting in 6 deaths. Out of 115 boats that started the race, only 44 made it to Hobart. The winning yacht "Sayonara" was five hours outside the race record, finishing in a little over two days and 19 hours. A coronial enquiry criticised race management for taking insufficient safety precautions, given the adverse conditions. Questions were asked as to why race organisers had not delayed the start of the race, knowing the adverse weather conditions. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology was also criticised for not doing more to alert the race organisers of an upgraded forecast on the severe storm offshore near the New South Wales-Victoria border nearly a day before the fleet was due there.

Found while on the way back from Boxing day shopping. We had planned on grabbing this on several times but the opportunity did not arise. Us3scouts and I parked nearby and walked to GZ and found the cache in a likely spot. Us3scouts took a few photos of the stacks and we admired the view then back to the car. TFTC dahumbug.
This one was a spur of the moment diversion after some shopping. I had wanted to check this out for some time now because I like history. I'd be keen to know more about the chimney stacks. Anyway seirra1 and I parked nearby and walked to GZ and found the cache in a likely spot. After a few photos of the stacks and admiring the view we retraced our steps to the car. Thanks for the cache dahumbug. I'm giving it a favourite point for the location and interesting history.

Wow. Very cool. Never knew this place existed. Took some nice photos. Reason number 146 why geocaching is so cool. ☺ Expected to have trouble with this one seeing as a few other people did but got lucky and found it. Coordinates were pretty spot on. TFTC! You'll have to wait for the favourite from us as we don't have any left!
This one had us intrigued, so of course as soon as I got home I started googling...apparently it is the remains of Dr Rendle's residence built in 1894. There's a book in the local library if you're further intrigued apparently. There might be photos of the original house which would be interesting. If I get a chance I'll try and track it down.

A weekend planned for Dunethin Rock I set about collecting an odd cache here and there on the way. Now I must say this was certainly odd, amazing where caching takes you.

Sunday. Slow Puncture ventured up Sunshine Coast way to pick up a few caches.
Wow, we like this place. What a great place to find these out of character objects! Of course, finding the chimney stacks was the easy part. Westumbled from pillar to post and back trying to find the hide.
We resorted to reading previous logs. Ah! There were a few that gave extra infor about the hint, and then we found another which gave two useful snippets of information that led us to the actual hide, although, it still took us a while after that But then the sneaky hide was revealed! Log is a bit damp, but otherwise, all in order.
This was the 6th of 7 caches we found on this trip.
Thanks [Blue]Bushbashr[/Blue], or should that now read [Blue]Dahumbug?[/Blue] for showing us this interesting place. This was our find number 1200.

Running early on the way up to Buderim for today's Pi day event, so I decided to stop by for a few extra smilies in the area. Wandered up the hill and spent some time looking around the amazing structures here. Funny how the fireplaces always remain standing long after the rest has crumbled. Began searching and went straight to the obvious place, but after coming and going and checking here 3 times, I finally found it tucked away. Hides well down I there. The clue had me looking up when I should have been looking down. Logbook soaked thru, barely writable. Time for a new one please. TFTC enjoyed immensely
Out filling my Yearly days of caching calendar, park the geomobile and a short trail to the interesting location.
After a 10 minute explore of the brick structures area, thought I should concentrate on finding the cache as I hadn't seen it on the examination of the area, iphone direction put me spot on the chimney so a wider search and the cache was located, signed logsheet 9:15 AM .
Seems of lot of finders have done research after being here and posted there results in their logs. Thanks Guys !

What's that saying? Once bitten, twice shy - hmm maybe doesn't apply for a cacher as evidenced by my leg this evening.
Arrived at GZ and in awe at the chimney stacks when I bump into a stick poking out of the ground. Then I found the cache and upon trying to retrieve it I hit my leg on the same stick (which is actually a dead thin pokey pointy tree) another two times.
Found the cache (eventually) retrieved it, signed and returned.
TFTC and the nice bruise I have on my shin.
Those Chimney stack are amazing, I've never seen anything like it before.
