After a bad start, it was good to have a quick find here. Absolutely stunning views, thanks
Trouve ! / Found it ! Little excursion to the island of Urupukapuka Well, it didn't go as I hoped. Basically, I wanted to stay there for one night but after a ferry canceled the day before, one the same day... I didn't want to stay stuck there. So I spent a good morning there but that didn't give me time to explore the entire island... Too bad. But I was still able to find 11 caches, did a DNF and logbook replacement. Thanks to all the installers for placing these caches
We got a little sidetracked taking photos of piwakawaka while looking for the hint item. But once the hint item was found the cache container lid was spotted attached. A search was undertaken and the rest of the container and the log were found nearby and all have been reunited.
No idea what we're looking for as can't spot the hint and searched a wide radius since everyone says coords are off. Oh well. Having a great day finding other caches. Also, fires are banned here but we saw the remains of one
I got a message yesterday from Yvettetb asking I'd I had plans for Waitangi Day. I replied "No", and was delighted later on to get a reply asking if I'd be keen to go to Urapukapuka Island. I was very excited as I've wanted to come back for years. We then finalised the plan over the course of the day.My Mum dropped us off in good time to catch the 8.30am ferry to Otehei Bay. The traffic really backed up after this so we were glad we came down early. We were treated to a detour today as the ferry driver took us back to Waitangi to see the Waka arriving down the river. Being a bit late getting to Urapukapuka we were fortunate we managed to get around the whole island. Both of us had quite sore knees by the end after all the hills. We walked 15.3kms and there were lovely views everywhere. 21.04.16 I hunted for this one but I couldn't find it back then. It was fairly simple today. There was no number inside it so got the required number off one of the CO's and wrote it on the log. Thanks for placing and maintaining the caches out here
A tug up the hill in the rain. By now our feet were soaked and squelchy, so more water from the ling thick lush grass didnt make any difference. Then the cloud lifted and the sun shone and we were greeted with our first proper view of the islands. Beautiful
We are on our long-awaited journey around the world in 99 days. Second try after canceling in 2020.
Our third stop after Los Angeles and Hawaii is New Zealand.
This time was of course used to find some geocaches here.
Our day on the bay was spent on Urupukapuka Island for 8 hours. It was one of the most amazing day we had in New Zealand!
During that time we were searching for the Traditional **Glimpse of Piercy (Bay of Islands)**
Thank to the Hints and the good coordinates the little box was found quickly!
After signing the logbook there is a new smile on our geocaching map!
At least we would like to take this opportunity to thank tikitour for creating and maintaining this Traditional.
Greetings from Nuermberg/Germany

P.S. To save space in the logbooks, we not only enter in sequence, but also in empty spaces between.

What a lovely walk with some beautiful views. Quick find once we found the hint. TFGC
Found while on a Ranger (GirlGuiding) camp over the Easter weekend. Great views from up here. TFTC Found with Yvettetb & Thetravelbugtribe
We're on a Ranger camp over Easter weekend and found this while on a walk round the Urupukapuka loop track. Stunning views from here. Tftc
We sea kayaked over to the island on a rather windy day with the plan to camp. Into the evening the wind calmed and we had a spectacular walk up around the top of the island to find a trig and a few caches. Great cache thanks. Pen seems to be on the fritz so couldn’t sign very well but took a photo as proof
Definitely here! A nice simple find not perfect coordinates but pretty spot on! Once I found what the hint was talking about it simple grab! Another photo because the pen is still not playing ball today!
Just a lucky glimpse to find this cache too. Good spotting = quick find. Cache is all good. TFTC
We took an enforced break here because we could see someone coming up behind us, and I didn’t want to go searching until they passed.
It ended up being a DOC volunteer with a couple of dogs, all dressed in their new hi vis gear (apparently a video shoot coming up soon for them). We had a chat, the dogs settled in for some scratches and rubs, and soon we were alone again.
Walked straight past the hint item, spotted it when I had run out of other ideas. All good here, TFTC tikitour.
Day 10 of our Northland trip, and today was all about Urupukapuka island.
I have been here before, and had a 90 minute stop years ago when I got a couple of caches while having a tour stopover.
Today we decided to get the early ferry out and the last one back, giving us plenty of time to ramble around.
3.5 hours moving time, plenty of stops for photo ops for RG72, and a couple of hours to lounge around on the lawn waiting for the ferry. Possibly the best weather of the trip so far too - what’s not to like?
Thanks all COs, great day out.

We had a full day on the island today and visited most of the caches. Lots of walking in pretty good weather - no complaints about that as it's April! This one had us briefly fooled and then my muggle hubbie spotted it as per the hint. TFTC
We're staying on friends' boat for the weekend, and I've been let off my leash for a quick circuit of the island. Nice spot, thanks!
Summer caching, had to drop and visit Urupukapuka whilst cruising round the Bay of Islands.
We were so close to giving up but read back through some of the logs and found it in the end! Not the obvious location. TFTC!
I will fix up cache when we next get up north. Meanwhile have added the clue into the hint
We planned a day on Urapukapuka for Mrs B and Tinytree to go snorkeling while I grabbed some of the caches on the island. It turned out to be a prefect day - too prefect in fact as the sun beating down made it a very hot day to be out walking, but I did manage to get around most of the trails on the island to seek the caches I needed for the bonus, which was the target for the day.
After making my way up the hill (glad this part came at the start of the day not later) I began a hunt around a line that seemed the most likely place to look, only to look around and see it straight in front of me. The log on this cache had recently been replaced so unfortunately the number required for the bonus is no longer here. TFTC.

Many thanks to riser5 who doubled back on our walk to replace the log and check placement.
2nd walk of the day to locate caches on this island. Walked straight past it as it is not easily spotted. Log book is full so could not sign it. Thanks for the hide
Another hiking day for D4nielB and me. Today we took the ferry from Paihia to Urupukapuka Island to walk around there. We also took the chance to look for some caches of course.
It took us a while to find this one but finally I saw something strange and - wooohoooo - there it was.
Greetings from Hamburg, Germany.

For today Jul1ane and me bought ferry tickets from Paihia to Otehei Bay at Urupukapuka Island, where we did an amazing hike around the island and even found the time for a relaxing swim in the ocean.
After a bit of searching we found this cache. The logbook is full, so we can only provide a photo log.

Today we went to Urupukapuka the wander anlong the island, visit some beaches and find some caches of course. It got our attention that - especially the caches owned by Russellschool - really need som attention. Most of the logs are damp or wet, and GZ are often far of (more then 25 m!).
Found it but logbook is full...

We could not believe our luck when we got off the boat today to spend some time on this Island. It was full of difficulty 5 rating caches! Back home in Switzerland, this kind of rating usually involves climbing trees or mountains. As we did not have too much time, we split up, which explains why some logs have our names and some don't. However, proof went to the owner directly or we attached the picture. Thank you very much for the caches on this great location. Greetings from Switzerland
Found as the next to the last
of 14 found caches on Urupukapuka island. I didn't find 3 traditional caches on this island. One was "Cable Bay" (GC3320D), but this cache didn't find already before me some cachers. The second was "Just Around The Corner" (GC2Q57V). As is writen in the note of owner "It’s still there. Tricky!", it shoud be there. It must be very tricky. The hint "Resting under the root closest to the old track" seemed to be clear and it should be easy to find. But I spent there maybe 45 minutes without success. The thirth not found traditional cache was "Urupukapuka Bay" (GC5XJEY). I was already hurry. I lost the time on the cache "Just Around The Corner". I didn't have enough time for surching of this cache while it was less than half hour till departure of the last farry. I didn't found also the mystery bonus cache "Urupukapuka Bonus Cache" (GC4VGR1). I have found from 10 needed numbers just the half (H, G, V, M, L). I don't know where is the rest. But from those 5 found numbers were some in very bad shape. Maybee the rest was in the worse shape or are no more writen in new log books or on the boxes. Of course, some could be in the caches I didn't found. But it must still some missing. I started also looking for a stages of the multi cache "Scenic Tour of Urupukapuka" (GC6YFMT), but I was lost already after the second stage. Well, it was great day I spent on this magic island. The hint was for me unusable. I don't know what does it mean "waratah". When I have decided already to stop my looking for this cache and I have been already on the way out of this area, I suddenly cought a sight of something not common for this place. And the cache have been found. The log book is near to the end of its life. Is dilacerated and almost full. Greetings from Slovakia Thanks for the cache.

A group of guys from work had planned a three day fishing trip out of Rawhiti and I was lucky enough to be invited along. Now I love fishing, but three days straight might be just too much of a good thing and so I hatched a plan to divide my time 50/50 with fishing and caching, if I could just convince the skipper to do some drop offs and pick ups.
Luckily, he agreed, so I worked out a plan of attack to get the maximum number of caches on the islands while I had transport available. Friday was looking likely to be windy, so I chose this day to do the full walk around Urupukapuka Island, hoping to get all the caches here.
After being dropped off at Cable Bay, I headed up and over the hill to Otehei Bay and then carried on northward. After the detour out to Akeake Bay, I continued on around the loop to this one. I had a good idea what I was looking for with the hint and the wee cache was soon located, the log signed and then replaced safe and secure as found. TFTC

TFTC......spent a few hours on this great island, great to go hiking and finding caches. My son spent about 4 months working on the island back in 2002, and has great memories of it. Visiting from Sask. Canada
Had me tricked for a while, was looking at the fence posts & gave up. Then as I walked away I spotted the clue. tftc.
Paddled over from Rawhiti & started the slog up the hill on a scorching day, insanely, to add to the torture, in our wetsuits! ( practising for Breca) Was glad for the excuse for a quick stop for the cache & a glimpse of Piercy. TFTC -

Found on a wonderful summer's day as I ambled around the lower end of this paradise.
I was very keen to fill a DT hole with this cache; however I was having a "blonde" moment and my geo-sense had eluded me, when along came loopelou on her first day of caching and found it quickly.....
Thanks, tikitour & russellschool for placing and maintaining this cache.

On our last day in the bay of islands we decided to walk on Urupukapuka. So we took a watertaxi and walked around this beutiful island. We saw many great birds like Tui and Pukeko. And we found this box.

Today we spent a wonderful day on Urupukapuka. We did some hiking, looked for all that different birds and enjoyed the magnificent view. Of course, we did some geocaching, too.
This was box No. 8 today and an easy find.

A fine day today and as it happened we had a skipper and a bist to do some research out here
Walking the island is spectacular but I wasn't aware about its popularity, well it's worth to come and spend the day, hiking swimming fishing and much more to do
Well found
Great to be here

rustynz tells me I need to catch up with all my logging
Was at an Island overnight camp with a group of Westies and non Westies (rustynz, gorby, FMZ, Aidan29, Jag50). Sorry for the generic log, but am very behind. Thanks for all the hides, and maintaining your caches.

#709 11:41 am The island seems to have bursts of muggles and GZ had a couple. Thankfully they were concerned with the Eastern views so the cache was quickly found and we continued on. TFT(glimpse)C.
#2672 Found as part of Team Uru. I became an 'honourary Westie' for the day and joined the group on their adventure around the island. I saw a band with the same name as the hint object when I was a kid- pretty sure my folks still have one of their CDs. TFTC!
Still travelling clockwise around the island and coming down the grassy hill to this cache the view was incredible. (I'm going to run out of superlatives eventually descibing this island) but here's a few more that work for me: **excellent, magnificent, wonderful, glorious, marvellous, brilliant, supreme** I'll think of more later!
We had settled into our campsite at Cable Bay, tents set up and lunch had before setting off around 1pm to do the clockwise circuit around the island. Boy, I did not realise how many hills the island had!
Our group consisted of Gorbygorbachov, Jag50, rustynz, Rebel98, funkymunkyzone, skaga and myself. We signed the log as Team Uru to save on time and space.

I had caught up with the leader pack for this one, and got to read out the hint!
Now I knew what one of these where, because years ago I was looking for the same thing whilst caching in Christchurch, and thinking what on earth is one of those?
Could it be the NZ, country rock band (showing my age now, but world famous in NZ for an ad for the Picton-Wellington ferry service), a type of flower or ..... (no spoilers!) ?
The cache was quickly located and we were on our way, Cable Bay here we come
The log today was signed "Team Uru" : Rebel98, Aiden29, Gorbygorbachov, Jag50, rustynz, FMZ and skaga.

Our group Team Uru consisted of Gorbygorbachov, Aiden29, rustynz, Rebel98, funkymunkyzone, skaga and ourselves. Mr Jag50 was first to GZ but did not know what the hint was. As the others joined him, RustyNZ mentioned the hint and Mr Jag50 grabbed the cache which was within his immediate reach.
A last minute decision yesterday to head up for some caching and camping on Urupukapuka Island, and it was a good one. Great weather and great company and some fun and strenuous hiking around the island. TFTC
Today we made a cruise through the bay of islands and stayed a few hours on Urupukapuka. This was one of the caches we've found on that beautiful island.
Wasn't able to work with the hint but wasn't necessary at all

Quick find by one of the younger members of the team once they worked out the hint item.
Found thanks to some cachers met on the way who translated the hint for us. Good to see a bit of the hole in the rock! Tftc
Well I didn't know that was called the hint item so learnt something today as well as finding a cache - I was looking for a plant but evidently not this time. Once I worked out what that meant it was a very quick find with no problems. Getting pretty tired by this stage so it was nice to be doing the home run. Cache is in good condition, thanks for placing.
A one-day stay at this beautiful island. Hiking along the trails we found several caches. Nice hide. Thanks for hiding.
Found on a day trip to walk around the island and score a few of the caches here. With good accurate coordinates I found this one instantly in the first place checked. Signed log, recorded code, TFTC!
Yesterday we just had something like a stopover at this lovely island after the swimming with the dolphins. Today we are back for caching. Thanks for this one. Thanks to the DOC! Greetings from Germany Hamburg.
(1706) Holidaying in the area, so headed over to the island to walk the circuit. TFTC
Took the first ferry to Otehei Bay and spent a great Christmas Day at Urupukapuka Island together with JUKS.

Kayaked across from Kaimarama Bay, so did some cache maintenance. Just missed kayaking with the orca!
Today we had the whole day to explore Urupukapuka Island, catching the 9am ferry out, and returning on the 7pm ferry.
Walking the island in a clockwise direction this cache marks our last Glimpse of Piercy rather than our first. A quick easy find as one would expect from a D1 cache. Got our last bonus number, so now to work out where that Bonus cache might be.
Thanks for all the caches that have brought us out to the island today.

we went on a daytrip to that island sooo beautiful with zliber. We got all caches which we could find plus one on a little smaller island so close to this one! TftC
On a rainy, but amazing day. I logged all possible caches with visa96. Thanks for a nice day on a beautiful island!
Found on a nice Long walk around the island on Christmas Day. We were staying on the island for 2 days during our Christmas kayak trip. We were about to give up, when Linea finally spotted the cache. Good hide and the container is dry and in good condition.

While out spending an amazing day on a guided walk for Russell walk weekend. This was the first of the day as we made a start on a full circuit anti clockwise around beautiful Urupukapuka Island. Wonderful sunny day with brilliant views and a nice up and down track of 10 km. great to have a wee smilie thanks.
Fantastic views as we made our way around Urupukapuka Island, managed to get a good glimpse of Piercy Rock on a beautiful sunny day, cache found with Yeetrees, TFTC.
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
