Anchored nearby and today we're walking this side of the island. Not as nice a day as yesterday. Thanks!
TFTC! Were anchored in the bay and had to come hike and find caches. Stunning views and cute birds
What a fantastic way to spend Waitangi Day 2024 caching on Urupukapuka Island, the temperature was a little too hot (26) but the views were magical. Liss Crew and I took the 8.30am boat out to the island with others who were continuing on to the Hole in the Rock. The boat left Paihia for Russell, collected a few passengers before making its way to Waitangi for us to witness the spectacular Waka Parade as they paddled under the bridge and along the shore before heading out to the island. We travelled back on the 5.45pm boat to Paihia giving us time to have a beverage and snack in Otehei Bay.Liss Crew and I walked up and down the hills exploring the island and finding all the caches (except the multi). This was an easy find at GZ with some nice views and great to see some stairs to walk down rather than up. Thanks for the cache.
We are on our long-awaited journey around the world in 99 days. Second try after canceling in 2020.
Our third stop after Los Angeles and Hawaii is New Zealand.
This time was of course used to find some geocaches here.
Our day on the bay was spent on Urupukapuka Island for 8 hours. It was one of the most amazing day we had in New Zealand!
During that time we were searching for the Traditional **Heading to Paradise ( Bay of Islands)**
Thank to the Hints and the good coordinates the little box was found quickly!
After signing the logbook there is a new smile on our geocaching map!
At least we would like to take this opportunity to thank tikitour for creating and maintaining this Traditional.
Greetings from Nuermberg/Germany

P.S. To save space in the logbooks, we not only enter in sequence, but also in empty spaces between.

A bit steeper over this side of the island, and we are starting to see some spectacular cliffs as well.
This was an easy find after the family just ahead of us streaked off. I got low and prised it out.
TFTC tikitour.
Day 10 of our Northland trip, and today was all about Urupukapuka island.
I have been here before, and had a 90 minute stop years ago when I got a couple of caches while having a tour stopover.
Today we decided to get the early ferry out and the last one back, giving us plenty of time to ramble around.
3.5 hours moving time, plenty of stops for photo ops for RG72, and a couple of hours to lounge around on the lawn waiting for the ferry. Possibly the best weather of the trip so far too - what’s not to like?
Thanks all COs, great day out.

After 2 previous recent DNF's I contacted the CO for permission to replace this cache if necessary. There was no sign of the cache, and a pretty obvious hint, so I replaced the cache and now I'm logging it! TFTC
Hint seemed pretty clear to us, and I found a likely gap, but nothing inside. Thanks anyway.
I will fix up cache when we next get up north. Meanwhile have added the clue into the hint
We planned a day on Urapukapuka for Mrs B and Tinytree to go snorkeling while I grabbed some of the caches on the island. It turned out to be a prefect day - too prefect in fact as the sun beating down made it a very hot day to be out walking, but I did manage to get around most of the trails on the island to seek the caches I needed for the bonus, which was the target for the day.
It was getting really hot now so the walk up the hill was quite draining, I meant to go to Akeake first but took the wrong path so ended up at this one. No problems finding the cache but once again appears like it has been replaced at some point and no bonus info on the log - otherwise all good here. TFTC.

Iceworm and I had a wonderful tour around the whole island. It was a great day! Found a few caches, thanks for all of them!

On our walk to find some caches we located this one. We see it is a new log but the clue for the bonus is missing. Thanks for the hide. It's amazing the amount of times we have walked over hidden geocaches before realising they are there, as I have walked these tracks numerous times since a kid
Yebo RusselSchool & tikitour
A glorious day and early enough to squeeze some caching in between the left over time, had a boat and some friends and off we were for a little hunt
Found well

Today we went to Urupukapuka the wander anlong the island, visit some beaches and find some caches of course. It got our attention that - especially the caches owned by Russellschool - really need som attention. Most of the logs are damp or wet, and GZ are often far of (more then 25 m!).
Easy find, thanks for hiding...

Really nice cache. Easy to find.
It‘s a very nice view from there.

Found as the eleventh of 14 found caches on Urupukapuka island. I didn't find 3 traditional caches on this island. One was "Cable Bay" (GC3320D), but this cache didn't find already before me some cachers. The second was "Just Around The Corner" (GC2Q57V). As is writen in the note of owner "It’s still there. Tricky!", it shoud be there. It must be very tricky. The hint "Resting under the root closest to the old track" seemed to be clear and it should be easy to find. But I spent there maybe 45 minutes without success. The thirth not found traditional cache was "Urupukapuka Bay" (GC5XJEY). I was already hurry. I lost the time on the cache "Just Around The Corner". I didn't have enough time for surching of this cache while it was less than half hour till departure of the last farry. I didn't found also the mystery bonus cache "Urupukapuka Bonus Cache" (GC4VGR1). I have found from 10 needed numbers just the half (H, G, V, M, L). I don't know where is the rest. But from those 5 found numbers were some in very bad shape. Maybee the rest was in the worse shape or are no more writen in new log books or on the boxes. Of course, some could be in the caches I didn't found. But it must still some missing. I started also looking for a stages of the multi cache "Scenic Tour of Urupukapuka" (GC6YFMT), but I was lost already after the second stage. Well, it was great day I spent on this magic island. I found this cache without any problems. The hint gave me all needed informations for quick finding. Again no number in this cache for the bonus mystery. Greetings from Slovakia Thanks for the cache.
A group of guys from work had planned a three day fishing trip out of Rawhiti and I was lucky enough to be invited along. Now I love fishing, but three days straight might be just too much of a good thing and so I hatched a plan to divide my time 50/50 with fishing and caching, if I could just convince the skipper to do some drop offs and pick ups.
Luckily, he agreed, so I worked out a plan of attack to get the maximum number of caches on the islands while I had transport available. Friday was looking likely to be windy, so I chose this day to do the full walk around Urupukapuka Island, hoping to get all the caches here.
After being dropped off at Cable Bay, I headed up and over the hill to Otehei Bay and then carried on northward. After the detour out to Akeake Bay, I carried on to this one. Unfortunately, the area around GZ had been nuked with roundup and the cache was missing. Luckily I was carrying a spare, so this was placed in the hint location with the permission of the CO. With a little bit of natural camo to conceal it, it should be good now for a while. TFTC

rustynz tells me I need to catch up with all my logging
Was at an Island overnight camp with a group of Westies and non Westies (rustynz, gorby, FMZ, Aidan29, Jag50). Sorry for the generic log, but am very behind. Thanks for all the hides, and maintaining your caches.

#705 10:58 am Clever little hide along the trail at yet another beautiful spot to admire the view. TFT(6th)C(of the day).
#2668 Found as part of Team Uru. I became an 'honourary Westie' for the day and joined the group on their adventure around the island. An interesting historical spot with a view to die for. TFTC!
By now after coming from Akeake, down those steep stairs and up to this cache, my legs were starting to crumble! More jelly than muscle! But I managed to keep myself together and found the cache long after others had passed by and showed it to rusty. Our team was starting to spread out a little now, the front runners were not slowing down at all and I needed to get some filming done too! So I often found myself at the rear. The view from those stairs is amazing! There was more to come too as I was about to discover....
We had settled into our campsite at Cable Bay, tents set up and lunch had before setting off around 1pm to do the clockwise circuit around the island. Boy, I did not realise how many hills the island had!
Our group consisted of Gorbygorbachov, Jag50, rustynz, Rebel98, funkymunkyzone, skaga and myself. We signed the log as Team Uru to save on time and space.

Someone has to be tail end charlie
I had taken a slight detour to one of the archaeological information panels, which was near one of the drop offs, and while we considered seeing if we could walk around it, it seemed safer and wiser to make our way back to the track the way we had came.
Amazing views, across is Waewaetorea Island, guess we won't be swimming over the channel to get to the cache? will need to leave for another time
The log today was signed "Team Uru" : Rebel98, Aiden29, Gorbygorbachov, Jag50, rustynz, FMZ and skaga.

Our group Team Uru consisted of Gorbygorbachov, Aiden29, rustynz, Rebel98, funkymunkyzone, skaga and ourselves. Mr Jag50 managed to walk to and stop immediately beside the cache hide and although not being able to see the cache reached down to uncover it.
A last minute decision yesterday to head up for some caching and camping on Urupukapuka Island, and it was a good one. Great weather and great company and some fun and strenuous hiking around the island. Some pretty spectacular rock formations on this side of the island. TFTC
A heck of a walk to get to the top but it was good to see Cliff Pa and the view of Akeake. I made a quick find at GZ and we made our way to Akeake for lunch. Tftc.
Today we made a cruise through the bay of islands and stayed a few hours on Urupukapuka. This was our first cache on that beatiful island, which could have been found very quick. Tftc
Did a cruise out to the island at very raff see and got this cache during walking around on the island
Thx for PLACING!

Checking the caches for the event. This one has been found by the weed eater. Think it is in the woodshed!!!! So have replaced with a new click clack but an old log book!!!
My Dad brought us to Indio Bay where we successfully ran the net for some piper. Dad then took the older boys fishing while I took the little ones up the hill for a walk. The kids loved flopping into the long grass on the way to this cache. Easily found and I loved the fantastic bay views. Thanks for the cache
Today we took a ferry to Urupukapuka Island and did a hike. Here we visited the Pa Site and continued our way to Paradisa Bay. Such a pretty place!
Thanks a lot for the hide!

Found on a day trip to walk around the island and score a few of the caches here. The coordinates for this one were a little out but with the hint I found it immediately. Signed log, recorded code, TFTC!
(1704) Holidaying in the area, so headed over to the island to walk the circuit. TFTC
Hiking the northern trails today and decided to bring the Papa to the Pa. Left a gold doubloon. TFTC !!
Cruising the Bay of Islands via S/V Winterlude. Did some hiking and Geocaching on the Island. Another easy find. Did not have pen so could not sign log. TFTF.
Today we had the whole day to explore Urupukapuka Island, catching the 9am ferry out, and returning on the 7pm ferry.
Walking clockwise around the island we had climbed the stairs to reach GZ, wondering several times whether it would be at the top of this flight, only to see another. Quick find once we had reached the top and another bonus number collected.
There is a rather spectacular cut in the cliffs just past here as we continued on. Would love to understand what forces of nature could create this - if it wasn't 'the gods' with an axe as per Tofska's log.

On a rainy, but amazing day. I logged all possible caches with visa96. Thanks for a nice day on a beautiful island!
Awesome cut in the cliffs not far from GZ. Looks like the gods took an axe to the island. T4TC - M@
Found on a nice Long walk around the island on Christmas Day. We were staying on the island for 2 days during our Christmas kayak trip. Cache easily found due to the very precise hint and the fact that it was peeping out from its hide. View from GZ sweet as. No trade, but we did remove some trash from the container.

Last week of the school holidays and I am back with the kids. While they are on the beach I am trying to do a few caches. Perfect day and no one else around. Never stopped to look at the food pits before
We are Heading To Paradise….. fantastic day and stunning views as we continue our great walk around Urupukapuka Island, spotted a pair of Tomtits at the top of the steps with Yeetrees, TFTC.
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
We were staying out at Urupukapuka for the Cable Bay event and took a long walk around the island on an exceptionally humid day, together with RussellSchool, tikitour, Tiki tour and Riser 5. Despite the humidity, it was a great walk around the island with lots of fantastic views! A quick find and group FTF! I think whichever way you walked on this island you would be heading to paradise! TFTC!
