Out with IolantheK for a bit of caching Had been looking at a few of the CO's puzzles and this was the only one I even had an idea of how to solve. Pulled out the old Spreadsheet and true to the CO's words the co-ords were accurateNice easy find, cache in great condition TFTC EngPhil a fav point from me
*** draft log for stats tracking, more later ***GC4VW1T Because I'm MeanMystery Not Chosen3 Aug 2024T16:03:44 AESTTFTC EngPhil2nd approach got me the tick. Nothing mean about a rare Not Chosen! Approached from the west, which did require a short bush bash, but it scared the wallabies? away. Found after brief search.
Mean indeed. I first looked at this puzzle ages ago. I started on it, but then got distracted and forgot about it. This week I’m in Brisbane Mon-Thurs, so there are a few caches that I had my eye on to solve and find. This was one of those.
I had a look and did some things but they didn’t get me a tick. Then with a bit of a tip, I had that ‘duh’ moment, and the solution was at hand. It ends up that my initial look at the puzzle was almost at its conclusion when I got distracted. Oh well!
I headed towards GZ from the south. Wrong. Then went around to the North. That’s better. Made my way to a likely looking spot and the cache was soon to hand. I grabbed the TB.
Getting out, I made my way back heading south. It was a bit of a bush-bash (cachly’s offline map isn’t accurate, as it said there was a trail).
Thanks EngPhil for the cache.

Today’s plan was to explore this bushland area with sausage3. Knowing that I would be in the area, I had another look at this puzzle. I had looked at it in my early caching days and of course it made no sense. But last week when I looked again, and went through logs, it was actually a comment from the CO a couple of years ago that put me on the right track. The checker agreed with just one slight adjustment. So glad that my puzzle skills are slowly improving.
We found a pretty good geotrail to gz, so no blood was lost! I was expecting far worse. Fp. Left tb. Tftc

Out for a day of birthday caching with EeePees. After a hiccup with the car this morning, the plans have changed and we are heading into the northern suburbs of Brisbane.
I only solved this cache recently as I discovered it helps with a challenge that I have been stuck on for a while. We started off following a trail but then it soon faded and we were left to make out own way through.
I pushed through the lantana and located the cache. Logs signed and returned as found. Tftc EngPhil

Well that certainly qualified as a bush bash. Wended our way between vines, scrub and trees until we finally reached GZ where the cache was found safely tucked away in its hidey hole. Found a different route out although it was just as adventurous. TFTC
An unlikely couple caching today, me and Peppa, lol, but it has been the best caching day, your typical boys day out and the laughs just kept coming.
A drive around in Rolando over to the northside to geta few I had missing and a few he had missing, was a great expedition.
This one I had solved a long time ago and even tried to find but the track from the west is not the way in, should read the hints better. Anyway I mentioned it to peppa and away we go. I said I know some of the track but not all, so with that we made our own tracks which followed and didn‘t follow some old tracks. Finally at GZ and it was an easy find thank you. We signed the log and replaced the cache as found.

Out for an afternoon of caching with Chamad… with a couple of new caches out this way we’re working our way around the map…
On our map, there’s a trail here… like the NBN, sometimes it was there, sometimes not… it appeared and then disappeared into the Lantana… Chamad went through the Lantana whereas I tried to go around it…
I wasn’t bleeding when the cache was finally found…

Maintenance check. All good. Path to GZ is well overgrown but access from a little further East along the nearest major trail is much easier.
Sunday on the north side, collecting solved puzzles and a few others.
Went through a very wet patch to get to this one.

Love puzzles where the answer jumps out at you. As soon as I saw this one I knew what to do and it didn’t take long before I had a set of great coordinates. Took a little wander today for another cache and stopped by to find this one as well. My map showed a trail but unfortunately the ground didn’t so we bush bashed to GZ from the nearest trail to find the cache safe and sound. TFTC EngPhil
Solved this one 2 years ago and added quite a number of xs and forgot about the note to approach gz! Domsky found the cache quickly then we followed the long and winding track but lots of fallen trees were on our way, so we ventured west! Not as muddy as when we came in! What a win!
Thanks for the cache and taking us here EngPhil.

Out for a day of geocaching with E_Smiley.
We began our day at 6am, meeting at the GZ of a nearby cache, and spent the day in the area, targeting some old caches, some puzzles we had solved, and a few miscellaneous along the way.
This was one we were seeking, and the puzzle had certainly provided much head-scratching, along with many wrong attempts that the geochecker kept spitting right out back at us.
Eventually we got the green light, and have added our name to the log.
Thanks EngPhil...yes, it was a tad mean. GZ, on the other hand was lovely! We were not sure what we might expect while searching for the container, but an obvious place revealed itself after we had squelched through some mud and water nearby!

Been a while since I checked on this one. Found out in the open but otherwise in great shape. Local resident wildlife seems to be doing a good job looking after the cache!
Yes EngPhil, you are mean! I don't know how many different things I tried to work this one out, I went down many many different rabbit holes. But I wouldn't let it beat me, as this is one of 3 closest puzzles to home, all of which belong to your good self. The other 2 I have no hope of solving I eventually won out in the end, happy dance all round.
Out this afternoon with geopup, we took a nice brisk walk to GZ. After the rain, the mozzies were ferocious. Nearing GZ, a bit of a bush bash later I spotted the wonderful ammo tin exactly where you said it would be.
Log signed, all replaced as found - all is good with the cache.
Thanks EngPhil for a fun puzzle and cache.

Yes, you are mean! Lovely puzzle that wasn't too difficult to solve. GZ is a lovely place I grabbed this one while completing the scrabble series. Thanks for a great cache!
Found at 1445 on an overcast afternoon. Enjoyed the walk to GZ.
The puzzle was similar to another one that I've solved, but a bit different too.

This one we had worked on previously with SP but never completed. This afternoon an offer was made to finish it off, I had already ducked out with Mr 4ando previously today to grab a cache, but what the hell another wouldn't hurt.
Out we went and made a wrong turn which we quickly rectified, log signed and now time to go back and hit the study again, was nice having two breaks today.

Tuesday. Mrs 4ando and I had started this cache quite some time ago and today went in for the grab. The weather was really nice too which helped. We spotted the cache after a quick search (arrow was doing its usual ‘I don’t know where to point’). Nice container and good to sign off the log and claim a smiley.
This was the only cache found on today's trip.
Thanks ***EngPhil***, for showing us this place.

Detoured to this one while doing the scrabble series with Swearah. A little bush bash but so great to find an ammo can, I love them! TFTC!
I liked this puzzle and was happy to see that the checker liked me back! Grabbed this one with krcamber while we doing the Scrabble series nearby. Love these caches! TFTC
Please disregard last post - it was the ramblings of an amateur #me! Still very much a geobeginner but learning everyday! After I had the “aha” moment I set to work with the waypoints. You’re definitely not mean but you did teach me a thing or two. Found the cache and signed the log after considerable bush bashing. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache. Left TB for new adventure.
This cache has long been a thorn in my side as I kind of knew what to do but just couldn't be bothered sorting through all those waypoints! However this morning I bit the bullet and set about finding the right spot amidst all that confusion. A handy program did the legwork, but then my usual goto Toolbox couldn't make the Checker happy so a bit of number fiddling happened before the green tick arrived.
I noted a good starting spot and saw a trail leading all the way to GZ but sadly it petered out and some bush bashing had to happen. There's a few good hidey-holes but soon the container was in hand, and my name gladly added. TFTC, EngPhil.

I was out playing Scrabble when I thought this was the best chance I would get at picking up this cache. Everywhere I had walked today was dry and when I started following the path to GZ I couldn't believe the corruption and desolation before me. There was more mud than a pantie after a night of questionable vindaloo. I was skipping and tip-toeing more frequently than an ice-skater with a jealous complex.
My map said there was a path that veered off the main track to GZ but when I walked past it all I saw was water, mud and whatever water and dirt become when mixed. I tried looking for a way to get bush without getting wet but I knew everything was going to be in vain like trying to teach my teenage kids how to save money.
Finally the track normalised and I could see a likely GZ but there were still plenty of spaces to search. The plants were slightly wet but I wasn't prepared to fall foul to their ruse of excitement. I jumped a big log and couldn't believe it when the cache almost poked my eye out. I was expecting a sloppy, muddy (and fun) hunt but everything worked out for me like picking the winning lotto numbers but not buying a ticket. Bump!, I've got to walk back through that mud (which deep down I was looking forward to). tftc

Mean is putting those waypoints all over my map. I had to do something about that. TFTC
I was after this placed date in particular for a challenge, however as it was unloved I pushed my friend to solve and collect first. Good thing to because despite my encouraging error message with my coords it appears that I was a far distance away. Not to worry I refocused and got it correct. Nice and early walk to retrieve this one before the day heated up.
This cache was pointed out to me as being unloved. Needing a few more unloved years to complete a local challenge, I decided to see what I could get out of the puzzle. After quite a long period of time (and I'm fairly sure this was not the first attempt I made at this either...), I had a set of coordinates the checker agreed with. A quick drive and walk to the cache - all was in good condition at the GZ. My car hit 100,000km on the drive home from this. TFTC!
Back in place ready to be found. There's a bit of lantana creeping up on GZ but I'm too mean to do anything about it.....

Hmmmm Mean you say?! Well as the CO's sister I think I'm more than qualified to determine this. First of all the puzzle seemed quite mean, after all it is EngPhil and it is a puzzle, so two strikes already.
However one night out of the blue while relaxing on the couch my mind jumped to this puzzle with a "hang on" moment, and after some fiddling I had a major success. Haha Meany!
Well let's now fast forward to today. Another cache had been planned and I had planned to make it my 600th find, but my caching buddy had to cancel (not mean just unfortunate), so I threw out the idea to EngPhil that maybe if he had some spare time I could grab one of his nice little tree climbs for the big number. But he said no the rather mean weather was not looking favourable. Does this make him mean? Well I'd say he's probably more analytical and practical in this instance.
So I decided that perhaps this should be the milestone cache for today. And after grabbing a couple of other nearby caches I headed over to this one with the sky only slightly mean at this stage.
Now with the program that the CO recommends for caching I encountered one small problem - no trail maps, which meant I did make a slight error or two with where was the best place to start and which way to approach once I'd realised the first mistake. However the law of averages says that sooner or later I'll get my approach right, correct?! Decided to switch between apps and use a combination of the CO's choice and the official app and soon had things became much clearer. And before I knew it I was sending an only slightly cryptic picture to the CO to let him know I had made my milestone find!
So is he mean? Nah I'd say my brother is more than mean
Thanks for the cache EngPhil. An FP because I'm not so mean

You are not mean.
I mean would a mean person have a checker that says that you're wrong but on the right track?
No, a mean person would not have that. A non mean person would.
So knowing that I was wrong but on the right track I looked further and saw my mistake. So sitting in a doctor's waiting with a pen borrowed from the receptionist I sat down working out how not to be mean.
It took three attempts, I mean how hard can it be? A computer would have helped but finally the checker agreed that I had discovered how un mean EngPhil is.
Met with KerriMG after the doctors and off we set to set.
I could have got us parked a little closer, and being a hot day I felt mean that I hadn't done my best navigating, but still it was a pleasant walk along a path that showed up on the map, but was a little hard to see in the bush. After a little bush bashing we arrived at GZ and made a quick find.
Log book signed, and left a Christmas deco as I love Christmas.
Thanks EngPhil. One of the few puzzles of yours that I could in fact solve . Some of your others are in fact mean!

I had the pleasure of meeting Engphil and his lovely family at shorncliffe pier and he is definitely not mean. I think this cache is MEANT to be. Not MEANING to MEAN or the MEANIEST MEANY but as a MEANS of a MEANINGFUL cache a MEAN had to be met. This is the first puzzle cache of Engphil that i could solve. I have looked at a few quickly and my head hurt straight away. I must admit that my son came home from uni and said i can't believe people don't know how to work out #!#&% and i said i did not and remembered this cache. I quickly gave it to him and he had answer in few minutes. But checker said no. I left it then at 2am i had a go myself and yipee checker said yes. Then later this morning i put rusty my geodog in car ,picked up my friend and off we went. Had looked on satellite for best place to park and just a little bush bash and found it out in open. Signed tucked it back away and made it back to car just as storm hit. How lucky. I may now have confidence to look at more of your caches. Thanks Engphil for this well put together cache. Definitely worth a favorite point.
Tftc I went along with Quesera for this one she did the hard work and I went for a lovely walk with Quesera and our geo dogs, we got wet and muddy but had a lovely time and got back to the car before the heavens really opened up. Lovely Sunday morning
Today was a day to knock a few more puzzle caches off the solved puzzles list. I liked this puzzle, partly because this first think I tried worked. Very cool idea, especially as I used knowledge and a programme I use every day in my work. Cache was found in a nice quiet place. Love them this size in the bush. TFTC
I had a brief look at this and palmed it off to Mr Esky...I was surprised when not long later he threw it back at me with a "Done"!!! Just left up to me to convert it to a smilie on a trip down from Toowoomba with my muggle friend who loves coming geocaching with me but has no desire to log her finds??! We initially took a direct approach only to discover we would end up with wet feet if we continued. Had a look at the map and discovered a track that went right by the cache. A bit more walking and this one was found. Thanks EngPhil.
Out and about with NurseyJulie. She had been prompting me to solve this one for a while. Nothing like leaving it until the last minute. I solved it while she was on the way to pick me up! We found a few other caches, then made our way to this one. We parked the car and then made our way along the tracks. Ooops! It's over there. Nothing a little bush bashing wont resolve. Before we knew it, the cache was in hand. We signed the log and returned the cache to its hiding spot, before heading back to the car via a much shorter route
I had solved this one a whilst back - one of a few puzzles that I immediately saw what I needed to do amazingly. I was getting higher than a 2 terrain to boost my stats. Afterall its all about the maths! We had completed some tougher ones and this was the last find for the day. We parked nice and close and made the short amble in. A little bush bash and we were able to locate the container neatly and safely in place. TFTC EngPhil
Out and about today in order to round up some solved puzzles. My solved list is gradually growing bigger so it was time to turn some of them into smilies at long last. This was one of those puzzles where accumulated knowledge gradually gathered over by puzzle cache solving came to the fore to help me derive an answer. It was a pleasant walk to GZ, a chance to discover yet another area I would never have visited. No problems locating this one and my name was added to the logbook. TFTC.
Maintenance check with the kids today found all ok with this cache. MissGeosie says she spied a wallaby off in the distance, too!
Yes EngPhil, you sure are a mean mean meany boots, now let me tell you why. It's not because of the puzzle, although it did take me a long time to visit those waypoints just to check there wasn't something hidden there (OK, maybe I didn't). It's not because the puzzle was particularly difficult once I worked out what was required, and it's not because it took a lot of goes to get the checker to agree, nor because to you picked a spot that was terrible with traffic and neighbours and dogs to contend with. No, you're a meany boots for making me walk through wet long grass, and Lantana and trudging through muddy puddles, getting me all wet and yucky! OK, in hind sight I could have gone back along and found a better way in, but that's the beauty of retrospect. Thanks for a great puzzle, all is fine with this container, must have taken you ages to visit all those wp's
After doing some recon on a nearby tree climb, I headed over to pick this one up. When it was first published I dismissed it as one that I would "come back to". It wasn't long before something ticked in my head an a facepalm moment occurred. nice little walk to the cache, all in good condition. TFTC
Big thanks to omaster for letting me know this one is OK. I was planning on heading out there either today or on Saturday to check, but based on your find, I'll go ahead and re-enable.
Found on a quick walk with Aerial_tennille. Considering how close this one is we decided to walk from home with Toby the dog and do the two caches in this area we had left. (Even though we noticed this one was disabled). We figured it would be here and in decent condition. As it proves the Cache was in great condition. We managed to get to it without much difficulty. While it is wet in many places it is also dry enough.

Will check it out once Marcia has left town.
Had an idea on how to find the coordinates and usually I'm on the wrong tangent when I attempt puzzles. Not this time as the checker agreed with my coordinates. Had this one ready for when I had a game of scrabble.
Arrived at ground zero with the GPS bouncing and after a time was questioning if I had the right spot when I found the nicely hidden spot. TFTC

After a false start where ee imported the wrong co-ords even after remsjw correctly solved the puzzle. Better co-ords put in and back to revisit an area we we just at and in for a nice easy find!
Yah initially our coordinates were out by 1 but drove to correct gz and it wasn't too long before we had the container
When keying in coordinates, make sure that they are the right ones. Otherwise you will be kilometres away from the right spot. Recovered from the error to find the end of a longer way than necessary. Tough Mothers outing.
We had typed in incorrect coordinates, only one digit after remsjw had solved the puzzle. We got to an area that wasn't too far away and seemed viable, up we went through a fence and we were left high and dry with no cache. Did you do the checker, yes was the answer.. Hmmm much more thought about the area which didn't seem like what other people were describing in their logs, we must be in the wrong area. Another check and one digit was wrong, ok with this in place it made more sense, so off we went back to an area we'd visited earlier today. All good now, we found our way to gz and misssusan spotted a little something tucked away. Tftc
I had a couple of false starts with the puzzle but after a bit of trial and error it finally dawned on me what was required to solve it.
Maybe you are just a little bit mean EngPhil.
The solved puzzle has been waiting a while for me to go out and find it. With a puzzle find required for one of the souvenirs for the month this one fitted the bill perfectly for a find today.
I’ve been to the area of GZ previously for another cache I knew a good spot to park that would lead me to the track into this. The area was quiet I think I only saw one other person as I walked in.
Once at GZ the cache container was quickly found and I had my name added to the log.
TFTC & Thanks for the fun with the puzzle EngPhil.

Yes you are mean, very mean
But then again on this puzzle I have been s bit of a scatterbrain .
I had looked at this puzzle so many time, but nothing I did worked. Then when chatting to EngPhil one day, he expressed his amazement that I hadn't solve it, and said he expected me to find it fairly easy.
On coming home, I sat down and looked again, and then I saw it, yes EngPhil was right, I should have seen this before, even more so, although I am not an expert in this field I have used the puzzle solution often!
So often in fact that the tool needed to solve this, well a tool that can solve this, is something I use daily at work , and the puzzle topic is something I use that tool for, and have 1-2 hundred examples that I have used done
So as you can see just how embarrassed I was when I realised this. So then grabbing this tool, I soon had the numbers I needed and today I enjoyed a little walk to grab this cache. The cache was found easily, and my name was added to the log book.
Thanks for a puzzle, the embarrassment and the cache

I have had this one in my 'Solved' File since the day after publishing. There are a few of my north Brissie caching friends that had this one as a hot topic on the night publishing, but everyone seemed to be using basic programs with basic errors. I see all my friends have been to this cache now, but I did not have the opportunity until today. Due to working away in the NT and living on the Sunny Coast, I was not going to get to this one until I had the right opportunity and as luck has it, that is today.
Thanks EngPhil for the puzzle, I tip my hat with all those waypoints.
Note- This is day 48 out of a 50 day streak that I am aiming for. Only 2 more days to go.

A suspicious track but too overgrown it seemed, that seems a little average was the call so we decided to just go around.
Yet as adventures of this type go, initial instinct is always proven right....when your on the way out.
Some damp feet followed the rest of our daily adventure but this was a lovely spot for a few minute breather.

Mr & Mrs Monkey had already solved this one so we decided to claim it while we were caching in the area. As is often the case, we added our own degree of difficulty, a few extra meters and some wet feet to the equasion before we found what we were looking for. GPS gave us a slightly larger area than we would have liked but in the end, the cache was ours Thanx EngPhil

Had this one in the bunch of solved puzzles for a while and finally on the right side of town to have a go at finding the cache.
Approaching GZ we took a wide detour to keep our feet dry - definitely not one to try after a lot of rain
The coordinates were spot on and a quick find the result. All good here.

Just being an average cacher, I was totally at your mercy, humbly wandered down the trail and started my hunt.
Located the cache, took stickers and left a fly. Great puzzle - TFTC

I decided to head to the dark side and have a little geocycle before work this afternoon. I stopped on the way for a chat with a geofriend and did not really have enough time left. My very kind friend had helped out with the answer to this one when she realised I would be in the area.
A very nice puzzle indeed, even if it is a bit mean. I had given it a quick look, and I did have a theory. Luckily I was saved from the task I would have undertaken in vain
My chosen tagrets for the day brought me very close to GZ and although I was on a time budget I decided I could not ride by this one.
A nice easy find at GZ and I was back on my hunt. 50 minutes left to find 7 more caches. No porblems

On holidays, and had a lot of things to get done today, but I managed a little cache-time this afternoon. I wanted to drop off a TB that I'd been carrying too long, and on my Tomtom this cache was annoying me - every reference point shows up . So time to do something about that. Solved the puzzle (easier for some than others I suppose) and trundled in to here to make a mark on the page.
Thanks for placing this cache, EngPhil. Found in good condition.

I'm finding that by coming back to puzzles with fresh eyes I am having more success with puzzle caches, and this one was no exception. Looking at the evidence before me, I locked on, single mindedly, onto an element of this puzzle and messed it up. Bring out excel and I soon realised it was initially my human error. Evince said yes and I was ready to roll.
Come this morning I arose with 1 million mozzies and trekked to gz. A bike would have been a better mode of transport to outrun the little bloodsuckers, all of which swarmed like a cloud at gz. I found the cache bang on where the coords said it would be. Normally I would stay and pour through the contents of a cache this side, but I spent less time than average due to fatigue from blood loss. So, log signed and coin grabbed, I high tailed my way out of Mozzie Land.
(Interesting side note, as I approached the moosemobile I found $5 on the median strip. A profitable cache experience indeed!)
tftc EngPhil. A fav from me, just for the sheer sake of the effort you have taken in developing it.
Cheers.

Quite a while ago, I was taking a walk in the bush doing some caching and I came across a random waypoint in the middle of nowhere. I didn't know which cache it belonged to and the message with it was a bit cryptic for me at the time. Being a cautious sort of bloke, I took a bit of a hunt at that waypoint, just in case.
I can confirm that the CO is indeed mean and the cache wasn't hidden at that waypoint. When I got home, I investigated further and found the mean cache which the waypoint belonged to. I quickly recognised what needed to be done to solve it, but was feeling a bit lazy at the time and left the actual work for another day.
Recently, I have been taking a crack at my consecutive days with a find statistic. As a consequence of this, all the caches close to home are getting cleaned up. This puzzle finally made it onto the first page of my closest to home list. So I took the time to finally solve it.
Today, during lunch, I slipped out to find it. I figured the CO was being mean with his advice about the best approach, so I ignored him and approached from the west. It wasn't too bad, but then I had my work boots on (and I'm not a nancy sook !)
All good here. Nicely secured in place. There is some evidence that the water has been up, but everything was dry. Left a TB.
This find makes it consecutive day 94 with a find. Thanks EngPhil.

I was coming to the area for a geo party recently and thought I should get about solving some of these in the area. After solving this one I ran into the CO at the event, and noted he was 'Above Average' rather than Mean! I told him I had solved the puzzle, but could not get to GZ that day because we all had so much fun at the event.
Today I found myself with enough time to rush in before a nearby work appointment. Parked at what I thought would be a good quiet spot, only to find a muggle in the yard of every visible house going about there daily chores. I ignored them, and tried to make it look like a businessman had every right to head off into the bush!
Made my way to a likely GZ and commenced a quick search to find the nice big fat cache! I love them big like this! Name and mushroom in the log and back to work I go! wohoo!
nice puzzle and GZ thanks EngPhil! Good advice about the west entrance too!

I had to dust off the old electronic graph paper and do a bit of number crunching to get the right answer for this one. It was quite mean to tell us where it wasn't, but I guess it did save me a lot of driving around checking those places.
When I got there this morning I was surprised to find that I had just missed you EngPhil, but very pleased to meet you later at the event. I found the cache hidden very neatly after your maintenance visit and also was very pleased to discover the device for "230 Moggill Road" that you had placed there.
I have rarely been to this side of town so thanks for the excuse to take in the local ambience. Great little bit of urban bushland too!

Solved this one a few weeks ago but hadn't had a chance to go grab it. Australia day afternoon seemed like a good time to go hunting.
After attempting to come at it from slightly different spots from the West twice (I did read the description, directions is not one of my strong points!) , jill_cycle worked out where we needed to head in from. After that we found the cache easily, lovely little afternoon walk. TFTC

We were in the area to get a few other caches and I had targeted this one to find while we were here as I had actually solved this puzzle cache without any help. That is a change for me as I really struggle with most puzzle caches.
We had trouble locating the correct access to the cache although my GPS map had it marked on the map.
A bit of pushing the bushes aside and we were soon at the location. Not hard to spot the cache when we got there.
Thanks for the hunt. I think I should give this a fav point as a puzzle I could solve and a great location.

I had an idea how to solve this one, but thought it would take a bit of effort and a lot of drawing.
Seems there was an easier way
So with the co-ords entered it was out for a day of caching with Gullivers Travels 54 and barbbowman. This was on our next to do list. Headed as far as possible with the safe option then it was bush.
Located the prize and added our names to the log. Thought about going out a different way. In hindsight we probably would have been better off going the way we came.
As for the "I'm mean", you nearly were and I'll explain when next we meet

This seems to me to be one puzzle where the less said, the better! I had the right idea very quickly but discounted it... even though a fellow cacher subsequently told me I had expressed the same idea some time back! Well, there you go... I have no memory of that at all, but at least I produced the right numbers very quickly. Thoughts of other caches with lots of false WPs come to mind... This is very different to all those.
I noticed that the icon's coordinates aren't included on the list of places the cache isn't... Well, guess what - it's not there either.
It was a nice addition to my rambles today to come across this nicely placed and secure cache. I dropped off a Blue geocoin which I don't think will need to stay here too long. TFTC and entertaining puzzle!

Must admit we had help in solving the puzzle. Sometimes you just have to admit defeat. Had a great morning out with geocaching friends, and gathering smiley faces in the area, including this one. TFTC.

You're not mean EngPhil. I had a lovely morning with you and your little munchkins around the Burpengary Loop last year.
Now as for your puzzle, but I got it out didn't I so it is not that bad.
Got a few try agains but got there in the end.
Well I just had to go get it.
It was about 6.15pm when I tackled this one and I thought I had better get a move on so I don't get lost .
Off I toddle to where the GPS was pointing, maybe I had the wrong coordinates.
Came back to the geomobile and checked the coordinates and they seemed okay.
This time I grabbed the torch just in case I did get lost.
Off I toddled again and soon was at the spot I was before.
Soon I was at GZ and searching. Back, forth, looking looking, and then something caught my eye.
I was so glad to find it before dark.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks EngPhil All good with this cache

There we were sitting in our Geo-daughter's house in Tasmania recovering from Christmas when the FTF warning came through. Great, may be something to warm us up! Oh no it is in QLd. Oh, how dare they publish new caches only 4Kms from home when we are away??. No chance to enter the FTF frenzy but may as well work on it. Tried a couple of possible approaches and then knowing that the CO is mean looked at another approach and started to get out some numbers. Was using the old "paper, pencil and brain" trick but numbers were not totally satisfactory so left it that night. When one of our friends (a newbie with a taste for these puzzles) told us we were nearly right went to a more sophisticated form of calculation but still the same errors. Lady membsec arrived to chastise me and forced me to check my workings - oops a simply transposition error - then some complete numbers and a "congratulations" from geo-checker.
This week back home so today thought would visit the near-by new local caches and this one. Very pleasant walk and approached from the correct side to quickly locate the cache. Surprised to find only 2 previous loggers. Thanks for the trials and tribulations and a well thought out cache in a new area. A favourite from us.

Surprised to see only one other find on such an easy puzzle. Perhaps if my notification zone reached out here I could have grabbed ftf.
Realised what needed to be done before finishing reading the description and had the coords in a few minutes. Geochecker didn't agree though... yea... this area is 152 degrees.
Entered the area through the "path" that I could see which was probably the best way. Liked the anti creep/theft mechanism.

Looks like I overestimated the difficulty of this one... or underestimated the puzzle solving powers of the local caching community!
