08-Feb-15
There is still a shed in the distance even if it is not "that shed". Quick find - thank goodness as the muggles living across the road were very interested in what we might be doing.

We looked and looked but no shed, on a lean or otherwise. I guess it decided to lie down. Oh well, cache was still there. With metal-art.

13-Nov-14
On a bit of a roadtrip to Turangi with bkj97. He decided on an early 5am start and breakfast in Feilding so it was obvious he was planning a few caches on the way. This was number 10 for the day. Not much left of that shed. T4TCSL

13-Nov-14

Wow, absolutely hilarious - that log of mine from a few days ago turned out to be quite accurate!

06-Oct-14
Following the gale force winds yesterday That shed is no more. It's now flat-pack collection of wood and iron sheeting. To coin a recent phrase "it's all over red rover!"
Cache is still there though, will have to see if they rebuild.
After all, if they build it they'll come

04-Oct-14
One good gust and it'll be all over red rover! TFTC, #6890

16-Sep-14
The day was planned, decisions made about what caches to do, the spring weather seemed to have arrived but the dawn broke, it was wet windy and cold. JonoS and I decided to go anyway and left Wanganui at 8 am. Back on track for Kimbolton after a detour to find some caches and discovered a lovely stream and picnic area. Loved the shed and took heaps of photographs as have just started watercolour painting and wanted shed photos. there is certainly a great collection in the Manawatu. TFTC

16-Sep-14
That Shed is certainly a shed like no other!

Had an almost unimpeded view the cows grazing on the other side.

If you have not logged this cache - do it quickly because it an't gonna be there long!

A very successful day with MJMNZ despite the variable weather with rain and V. cold wind.

31-Aug-14
Found on a >41 hour non-stop geo roadtrip from Wellington to Auckland via Cape Palliser and a whole bunch of skinny winding Wairarapa roads, in the esteemed company of slieschke, mike-miss and cretti. We picked up our rental car, dubbed the Idiot Box, and assumed our new identity as Team CRT, shortly after 8am at Wellington Airport and headed north.

We first headed to Porirua Harbour to take on the resident Kiwi geo art trail before heading over to the southern Wairarapa and Cape Palliser where we visited the light house at about midnight and tried our best to avoid seals while searching for a few caches along the southern most shore line of the North Island.

We headed up past Greytown and Carterton, focussing on caching areas west of SH2 this trip. There were some highlight caches, particularly around Carterton (I think) and some way up in the hills looking over the whole area from Masterton to Martinborough.

It was daylight again by the time we hit Masterton and we decided to hit fast forward and skip a planned area (will just have to come back again!) and shot through to Palmerston North where we got back into the swing of things.

We took the back-road up to Mangaweka, discovering some really fanstastic little places along the way, like a picnic area and waterfall way down in a canyon, and then we continued via Taihape, across and up through Owhango, to get some really old caches, and then north through Te Awamutu and back to Auckland to drop off the Idiot Box at the airport.

And of course, despite it then being after 1am on Monday morning, and raining kinda heavily, slieschke and I couldn't resist driving over to the North Shore for an FTF on a cache published earlier in the evening.

Thanks to all the cache owners along the way, even if we couldn't find your cache - all part of the adventure! Sorry for the copy/paste log, but just too many caches to remember *all* of them individually. TFTC!!! Big Grin

31-Aug-14
A plan was hatched for yet another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend from Wellington to Auckland. This time, Cretti and slieschke joined in on what turned out to be another epic road trip with myself and funkymunkyzone (our third trip this year).
We all met up at Wellington Saturday morning as i ended up being on an earlier flight to the rest of the crew. Jumped in our rental which happened to be a Ssangyong SUV this time round and headed straight to Porirua Harbour to hit the Kiwi GeoTrail. From there on, we zig zagged our way through Wiararapa to Cape Palliser, back up through Martinborough, Masterton, Ekatahuna, Pahiatua, Palmerston North, Taihape, Te Awamutu and back home to Auckland in the early hours of Monday morning.

To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team CRT" travelling in the idiot box for the weekend. Lots of laughs were had over our 1500km+ / 41 hour road trip which consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure. TFTC! Big GrinBig Grin

Found in the company of Cretti, funkymunkyzone and mike-miss on a crazy Wellington to Auckland road trip in the idiot box. We traveled via the Kiwi GeoTrail in Porirua, the Wairarapa including Cape Palliser, the Manawatu, and back to Auckland via the western side of the Central Plateau. Signed as Team CRT. Despite very little sleep the weekend was a blast!

Thanks!

Team CRT - traveling in The IdiotBox - For the first time, I have joined in with the mad crew of: FunkyMonkeyZone, Slieschke and Mike-Miss in a mad 40 hr caching drive from Wellington back to Auckland.

We're into hour 31. Smile

Find #891. Thanks for the cache. 31/08/2014 15:09

Found this on the way home from the events in Kimbolton this morning. Originally I thought that this was going to be closer to the shed and my GPS was telling me lies.... turns out my GPS was right and it was a bit further away. Once I actually followed it I found it pretty easily. Thanks for the cache.

24-Aug-14
Found today with Adventure Collectors while attending the event and CITO in Kimbolton. a great day caching and good company. Lots of familiar faces and some from out of the area. Took a minute or two to find. TFTC

24-Aug-14
Found on the way home from today's enjoyable events at Kimbolton. This shed deserves its own cache. Nicely placed away from the housing, thanks capperz.

24-Aug-14
Picked up this cache on the way to the event and CITO in Kimbolton today. Spotted the item in question so pulled over as close as I could to it. Turns out the cache was about 70m back the way we came. A quick jog soon had the cache in hand. Cool shed with a lot of history I imagine. Found with Tommygun9, Atomsnz and JrGun9

#1060 Out on a mish to Kimbolton with Nic-Jay and collecting some caches on the way there and back. Pretty fancy shed- looks like a palace compared to a student flat I used to live in Wink TFTC!

24-Aug-14
On the road again with Gap (of Fap and Gap). Up at the crack of dawn to travel down-country to an event in Kimbolton... The things we do for an August Souvenir.

What shed? Oh, that one a-way up there... This cache was not a quick find. We had to search a few clumps before it was revealed. TFTC.

24-Aug-14
This Sunday was designated a "Caching Day" due to an event and a CITO in Kimbolten, as well as some new caching and a nice little back country road power trail. With the 4WD loaded up with SpudNZ, Tommygun9, Myself and Baby Tommygun9 we headed off to complete a 50 cache day. During the day we partnered up with Firewoof and Adventure Collectors to become Team FASTA (some of the nano logs needed space saving). At one cache we met so many people it almost became "Team EVERYONE" and an impromptu event!
We tried using our geosenses on this one but when we looked at the GPS we had overshot by about 70 m. After a quick jog back down the road the log was located and signed.

Out on a road trip collecting caches on the way to and from an event in Kimbolton with Skaga. Not much time for photography today but I think with all the old buildings around this area, I will definitely be back for a photo road trip. TFTC

24-Aug-14
Today's mission was a good one; 50 caches, getting my bronze CITO and FTF Addict badges, moving from bronze to silver in both the Mysterious Cacher and Social Cacher badges and going up a belt! And, probably most importantly, becoming part of team FASTA which, along our travels, took part in probably one of the largest unplanned cache convergences this region has ever seen.
We overshoot this one so I set off on a quick run back to get it and was quite relieved to spot it straight away as it could potentially be a little tricky.
I too am impressed at this shed's stand-up-ability considering the awesome power of the local winds. If it can survive these then even a large earthquake probably won't phase it, perhaps it will even outlast us all and become a wooden version of the monolith in Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyessy". Future Ape archologists (based on the documentary Planet of the Apes) will find this shed and their digging nearby will reveal the log. The text (mostly quite messy) will confuse them and it will go on display in a Museum where apes will gather and stare in amazement at our names, possibly even assuming we created this woodern Pantheon. Eitherway our names are now immortalized on this site that could, no WILL be pivotal in human history.

The cache wasn't in the first place we looked but soon Firewoof and I were signing the log. From GZ the shed looks in pretty good nick. We jumped back in the car and drove slowly past 'That Shed' and wondered how on earth it's still standing. I'm no scientist but I'm sure it's giving the finger to physics Razz. Anyone got a stick of dynamite? Gimme, gimme Big Grin.

Needed to do an event cache to get our August souvenir challenge. Problem was, where is an event cache close by. Mrs Fap found one 300km away in Kimbleton, there appeared to be nothing closer. Phoned Squirrel Nutcas who was a keen starter so Kimbolton it was. All this way so planned to pick up a few more on the way. Left Rotorua at 6am and back home by 8.30pm with 58 caches found, not a bad day at all.

Changed container. Good to go again

11-May-14
Missed this on the way this morning as there was a muggle doing some work on the other side of the road. Stopped again on the way home and a bunch of bikers came roaring passed. We didnt find the cache and are pretty sure we searched the right area. Suspect it is gone... but could be a case of cache blindness Smile

11-May-14
There has been some earthwork around GZ, presumably to fill in the hole that rattll found
Will carry out a replacement soon

26-Apr-14
Felt safer parking a bit north of the cache. Nice little hide and a trusty old shed. I could do with some firewood but didn't dare destroy such a scenic shed. On my way back to Auckland after a stay in Wellington area.

Family reasons for being in the territory today, managing to squeeze in a few caches too.
Straightforward find; cache OK, log signed, safely re-hidden, just as found.

Easy find, watch that hole!

27-Mar-14
This was an interesting one. Only had a few scribbled notes with us, but I was pretty sure it was meant to be a park & grab, so was wondering why we weren't finding it. GPS had us next to what fitted the clue, but couldn't see it. Eventually I had a look under the road cone to find there was a reasonably deep hole there, & thought I could see the cache at the bottom. Got Mr Rattll to confirm it, & then the challenge began. Definitely out of arms reach ( ours at least}, so needed some lateral thinking in the form of an umbrella & stock stick to get it out.
Left it on the other side, so hopefully won't fall in again. (assuming from the logs it wasn't meant to be that challenging). TFTC

09-Mar-14
We had The Seagnoid with us today. We did a few caches, but I think this was the only one new to him as well as us. So, it is possible to defy gravity - for how long I wonder. Thanks for the cache and stop. A traction engine passed by near the cache, heading back from a visit to the Kimbolton 125th anniversary celebrations. Something a bit special to see...

09-Mar-14
[green] for some reason I thought this was a dot day, so set off with team Swaybars, after having spent the night at their place so I could complete laying a cache. Stopped off here for my now non-dot day cache. Amazed it is still standing! (photo attached) Then we headed off to do some other caches that I had already done but team Swaybars hadn't. On the way out from here we came across a traction engine with family of four (youngest about two) towing its house car and a trailor. We aught up with them when they stopped in Cheltenham and chatted for a while. They are on their way home to Feilding from an event in Maewa (near Halcombe). More photos.

**FTF**Big Grin Saw the email for this and it was published 3 hours earlier...hmmm still no logged visits so might as well go for it. Got the kids to get in the car quickly by telling them they could see a cool shed, haha! Got to GZ and there was what looked like a huge geotrail that was about a meter wide, so didn't look promising, but nothing in log. On leaving the area Mr 3 says "mum you tricked us, that wasnt a cool shed, it was broken!" Razz

Saw the unfound cache, but got stuck in ridiculous traffic on the coast to get here for 2nd. Gotta be up early round here I guess
