Nice hide, be aware of boxthorn. We replaced the container for a 400ml Sistema which may slightly smell like jellies... Notepad-log is soaked and not usable. Secondary log is okay. Due to lack of space we cleared all other replacement containers. Gate may be fenced off at times, in addition to the normal gate locking hook there is a brand new looking padlock (which was open today).TFTC!
Well I'm back to do another walk in Shakespeare Regional Park. This time I am with another of my sons who's just returned home after a year in Aussie. Nice to spend this time together.I'm very close to my next milestone of 7000 finds. I was very plessed my son was keen for a walk and was happy for me to cache. Now I can make my first cito as the CO my milestone find on Sunday. We weren't sure if this was still defence land but there wasn't a sign so over we went. Interesting to see the bunker here. We peeped inside and there was a kitchen there. A bit unexpected but I suppose you'd need to be self sufficient if you were there for a while in a war setting. A bit of a scramble over gorse and above the drop off made me a bit nervous. The first cabbage tree revealed nothing but the not so lone second cabbage tree however had the goods. The container was broken but the log was okay. Thanks for your cache out here
You don't need to get anywhere near the cliff top of this cache, just fight a little bit of gorse. It's a bit broken, but the internal log is still dry enough to write on. Thank you for the hide!
Lugging out rubbish left behind by previous finders. I'm quite sure rusty beer bottle caps aren't the treasure we're after
#906 Spotted two cabbage trees in the distance. I ventured up what I thought was the more promising geotrail while Big Dan and EXPNZ headed up the other. I spotted the cache immediately but it was unfortunately in poor shape. Although we did not have a replacement container large enough for both the notepad and secondary log, we were able to take some weatherproofing measures (as detailed by EXPNZ).
Quick find once we found the correct geo trail. Cache lid is bust and everything waterlogged. We dried everything out, added a new container for the small log book and new zip lock. Good to go for the next cacher, however a new large container would be preferential. Thanks for the cache.
Found it, but container is heavily damaged, didn't want to open it in fear of breaking it further. (did not sign)
Scramble up the other ridge (!) for the QEF (great size cache) able to sign log no problem. SL TNLN TFTC
Found while the kids had a look in the bunker. Easy to find, bit overgrown with gorse. **maintenance needed** Container is broken and full of water. Log wet but could still sign. Sorry we didn't have spares with us today. Thanks for the cache.
My boys' first cache. They were very excited. Sadly no pen in the box so we couldn't write in the log. Will carry stationary next time!
Out for a walk around Shakepear with s.anders We took a look for this cache along the way.Tftc
A beautiful day for a walk at Shakespear. Started off at the wrong lone cabbage tree, but soon located the right one and had the cache in hand.
Through the mud
Over the gorse
Up the bank.
Under the tree.
To were I found it.
Thanks for placing this cach, I've been to the park many times but never here.
When I arrived the bunkers door was opened so I had a look and took some photos.
From what I could see and some a goggle this was a submarine detection bunker.
If you look at the beach below you can see the cables going out to sea.
It's is amazing how much time and effort when in to protecting the country during WW2.
Anyway thanks for placing this cach.

It’s University holidays so it’s geocaching time! Todays task… Shakespeare Regional park, all its caches, and the AdLab! And do do it all before the rain hits!
Thanks to COs for the great day!
Thanks to COs for the great day!
We are staying with friends at Gulf Harbour and after a very boozy night last night we needed to blow off the cobwebs.
Big walk around the park collected 9 caches and the AL. Great walk. TFTC

We are staying nearby and had a lovely day walking and caching in the Shakespear Regional park today. Interesting to see this bunker and find the cache a little distance today. Gotta love a regular TFTC
Best to take the inland route, the seaward route is pretty close to the edge. TFTCbb
Why is it when you're wearing unsuitable footwear, the demands of caching can be a problem!
Cache path safely navigated and I was rewarded with a nice big container for my troubles.

1948. 10:34 am. High winds at GZ - glad I didn't come out with yesterday's near gale winds. TFT(bunker)C.
Having woken, breakfasted, and packed my tent I set off for the peninsula and a walk around the Shakespeare Park. Happily the walker, who was resting nearby when I arrived, soon moved on which allowed me to scamper to the GZ. A little precarious in places but all good and a nice sized container was soon found. Thanks aucklanderatlarge#4438Logged using Cachly.
Stopped for lunch and didn't actually realise there was a cache here. After eating one half scrambled up the hill to grab the cache. Picked up the tb's
This was another one of the most memorable caches for today. I saw the bunker from the path and it took me a bit to realise the cache was quite a way off the path, so I jumped the gate, read the hint, and headed straight to the hint item I could see. Then I realised my GPS was reading 56 meters away even though it felt like the right place... and of course there was the other obvious hint item right where it should be. A bit more bush bashing later and a bit of cautiously navigating along the cliff side, and my reward was an absolutely pristine cache
Daywalk are right that this one's a regular now, rather than a small - it's about a 2-liter container now. Which made it the perfect size to drop in a couple trackables for a stay. I hope they'll get picked up soon!
Thank you for placing this one - it's doing well, and the views from here are fantastic (but really, where are there not fantastic views in this park?!)

What an interesting place, almost looking as if people just walked out a fes years ago. A QR code on the post by the gate explains that this was a degaussing station. https://sites.google.com/view/shakespearorienteering/home/degaussing-station
Evaded most of the gorse with a careful route on the cliff side of the scrub. Cache in good condition - nice to find a regular.

I headed out to Shakespeare Regional Park this afternoon for a, nearly, three hour hike. After finding "piggy #3 pink beach" I returned to the main trail and continued my ramble along to this GZ. I jumped over the fence and considered where GZ may be. Right, nothing for it but to make the scramble up, through the scrub, to access GZ. Nice quick find of a decent sized container once up at GZ. I checked out the bunker on my way out to the main trail. Nice view here, so I snapped a pic to share. Cheers for the exercise and for cache placement!
Well we are happy to report that the cache is the biggest one we have seen for a while, it's easy to see when you are up there, bone dry & has 2 perfectly good logs. We signed the one in a jar, easier to access than opening a plastic bag (!!) after the effort of plugging up the hill. The straight up to it approach was the best as grass was easier to wade through than scratchy trees. TFTC
Decided to visit the park for the afternoon to get the kids off tech for a while. Managed to get this one easily from the scrub side as well. TFTC
Today is a nice day to visit this regional park for the first time.
Mrs rattll jumped on the bike and headed in an anti clockwise direction. There was an occasional side track and the odd cache I couldn't get because of muggles, but all in all a successful tiki tour around the park.
A nice large container in an interesting spot.
Thanks for putting this here

Found whilst out with mum keylev and a group of Team SEAC. Had lots of fun today.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
So today a crowd of 14 Team SEAC members encompassing 10 different caching names travelled north to the park and attempted all caches in the park. Logs were signed SEAC to save space. The weather today was perfect. Another nice quick find with so many people looking.
Out with my geocaching buddies from Team SEAC exploring Shakespear Park. All logs signed Team SEAC.

A visit to this park was originally planned for June 2020 but the weather thwarted that event, it was rescheduled for Aug 2020 but then lockdown and restrictions meant we were not allowed to gather or cache, it was planned again for Jan 2021 but only a couple of the crew were available but many wanted to do it so we said we would find a better time. Today was that day, finally!!
They say good things come to those who wait and boy was this worth it....great weather, views, caches and of course the company!
Had to go a little off the main trail for this one but Mr HeMaLuDy soon had the cache in hand and held it up like a trophy...woohoo.
Thanks for the cache.

The Team SEAC group were hitting Shakespeare Regional Park. We had attempted this 3 times previous but were thwarted with COVID lockdowns and bad weather. NEITHER were an issue today as we were greeted with an amazing day and a LARGE proportion of the Team SEAC members turning out. The kids were in full force with B4Dawn diligently pushing B4Dawn VERY Mini cacher ALL the way around the park in a buggy type pram! All logs signed Team SEAC to save log Paper.

Team SEAC was out in force today with a mission to knock off the caches to be found in Shakespear Park at the end of Whangaparaoa. This had been on the cards for quite a while now but had always been thwarted by either COVID or bad weather. Today was our fourth attempt at getting the crew together and claiming this area.
The bunker doesn't look like it was WWII vintage, but it did open a conversation with LordCacher08 as to why there would have been a bunker in this location during WWII. Anyway, as the conversation was going on, others had made their way towards GZ and were searching. It didn't take too long for the cache to be found and the formalities completed. (Log signed as Team SEAC to preserve log space)

Out with Team SEAC to get these caches. Apologies for the repetitive logging but couldn't upload my file to gsak for some reason.
Thanks for the cache

Great spot! We tried to access from the seaward side as the scrub was a bit overgrown... definitely better to bush bash than go near the cliffs! Woops. TFTC
We are here on a Girl Guiding camp and this is the first ever geocache our group has found! Challenging, but also relatively easy find, love how there was space for SWAG. Super fun cache
No luck today.
Decided not to bounce over the wobbly locked gate!
Next time.......

Cool find and amazing view, then saw we had an audience. GeohoundandI got excited because she found this years ago on a GGNZ Ranger camp.
This was such a cool cache and apart from all the ants crawling up my legs as I signed the log it was so much fun to find. TFTC
Great adventure off the track. And a bonus of a beautiful view so grateful to have this cache brought into my life #sub2Benzie. (Written by eldest)
Found close by a cabbage tree, keeping it company. We signed the new log book rather than the old sheet. Cache pristine order and a great size. Tftc!
Not the sort of bunker I was expecting when I read the title! Out caching with [@WildTulip](http://coord.info/PRA2ZC5) in the park today and she was most upset here as a stray nail managed to rip a hole in her new shorts. We did find the cache though and a smaller container has been added to the original container and the log inside that is in good condition. Thanks for placing aucklanderatlarge! Byt the time we got here the clouds had left for the day and, had it not been for the wind, it would be getting quite hot.
On a geocaching expedition from Nelson. Way back in February Isis58, no.13 and I planned a trip to Auckland for the planned Mega event. When Covid struck and the country went into lockdown we decided to wait and see what happened - - that was less hassle than trying to get refunds on our flights anyway. Well, of course the Mega event was cancelled but luckily for us, flying was an option again by Labour Weekend. We changed some of the details of our trip but decided we would fit in as much caching as we could. We were joined by Mrs SoBad. We visited some amazing places, fitted in some walks, came across lots of people - - lots of traffic too. A huge thank you to the COs for hiding caches which presented us with puzzles to solve, took us to great places, were cleverly camouflaged, were cunningly hidden - - sometimes in plain sight - - all of the above and of course an equal thank you for the ones that just gave us one more smilie. We really really appreciated them all. Thanks !
Turns out there are two options here and of course I went to the wrong one. Very weird walking in the very spongy grass up and down. We then went over to have a look at the bunker but it was all closed off. TFTC # 16,116
Mrs SoBad was part of a group of 4 cachers visiting from Nelson and logging as INSS. We had lovely weather and went on to see lots more bunkers at North Head on the next day before half the group headed home. Happy to have the log signed here after a late decision to walk more here rather than car cache on the way back to Hadfields Beach.
Thanks for the extra incentive to make that decision.

Yep, it's still there, we spotted the lonely tree from down below and made our way to this nicely located cache. I presume the bunker must have been used to spot sea life [?] TFTC
A beautifully crisp day to enjoy the regional park. Views are amazing along this part of the coast, obviously why the bunker was built here. Tftc
Back in the country and area after 8 years!
Decided to take a walk in the area again and grab some caches.
Hopped the gate here and homed in on the wrong tree..... Looked around and narrowed in on a place and grabbed it. Little damp so wiped it out and sinned in for 5.

Nice to have a cache to find after a hot walk around the track here. Nice views. Thanks very much for placing the cache here.
Over the fence I went whilst my other half waited got to the first tree and noticed that the gps was still out and then realised there was another of these trees in the distance so a bit more work was required.Glad that when I made it though it was a quick find with a great view.
Find number 6584. Decided to do a couple of days caching in the area. With an emphasis to try to clear the Dalmatians. After parking up in Riverhead and riding the bicycle from there. I only got a few done before the batteries on my GPS went flat and when I lost phone coverage I had to change plans. In the end I ended up with 29 caches today and spent the night at Murawai.
Day 2 was. Murawai, Dalmations and then onto Orewa for the night. Another 50 caches done.
Day 3 was Shakespear and Stillwater. 29 More caches before heading home to Hamilton. Parked up in the shade and headed on a bike ride round some of the park. After puffing and huffing up the hill I was pleased to have a rest. Another piece of our history visited. Quick find once at GZ .
Thank you for the placement.

We had been here before and weren’t sure about crossing the locked gate. This time we threw caution to the wind and the cache was found and signed. TFTC
Two years ago this was a DNF for us. We were with my cousin and her husband who, I think ,disapproved of us climbing over the fence! Today, on our own, we didn’t hesitate, and luckily the first cabbage tree was the correct one. Nice one.
Happy international Geocaching day! Had a nice walk in the park. Thanks for the cache!
Took a nice walk to find some caches on the international geocaching day. The views here are stunning TFTC!
We were in the park today with the "Meetups" group for an epic adventure around the park. Signed logs as "Meetups". Climbed the hill from the beach carpark and we are well on our way around the park. Covered 13km today. Not really feeling like the climb here, but did it anyway to get our smiley on this one. Quick find. SL. TFTC.
Auckland Geocaching Meetup (signed as Auckland Meetup) event day and conveniently the last opportunity to get the mystery at the museum caches. Soon had the caches in hand. TFTC
Took us a bit of guessing before we could find it, but hint from other comments helped. Yay!
First Geocache I found!! Great hiding. It took me longer than expected to find it. But I really enjoyed it!
Out for a walk on the Tiritiri Track in Shakespear Park this afternoon to collect a lot of caches that have appeared since our last visit. There were several people near the Bunker as we approached but luckily they moved on just as we arrived. Soon realized where the cache would be, so one of us made the final ascent to GZ. An interesting location here. Thanks.
